These are really good back-up drives – good capacity and reasonably quick data transfer at a good price – never had a reliability issue with them yet (hope I am not tempting fate….)

I’ve been using it for over 6 months now and it’s never given me any problems.
I’ve not noticed any delay, or speed problems when playing games saved there.

I had already purchased the same Hard drive previously and so far been Happy with it. So I have purchased another to link to a second system, and I am as happy with the new one as my original purchase. Easy to contact and get going, and it does what it says on the box, at the time of purchase, not badly priced. I am happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWith every storage it is hard to rate reliability but so far so good. No issues and at a great price. I use it only couple of times per month to sync between internal pc storage. Works without any issues

Despite the answer to one of the questions, the 4TB version does not have a USB-C socket. Otherwise it is just fine.

I use the product as a backup storage disc for my Mac laptop. I like the product’s storage capacity and its ease to set up.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is an excellent device, provided you know what you are getting. The description does not describe the connectivity well, it is by standard old school USB but utilizes a keyed connector on the drive and not a USB C as described by some sellers, they also get the size wrong as well. My only criticism is that the activity indicator is on the top and not on a viewable edge.

I don’t mind the size, nor the lack of speed. What I want most of all is to know that my data is stored safely and securely and doesn’t become corrrupted or damaged. This external drive is absolutely reliable.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI have a selection of Seagate portable HDDs that I’ve gathered over the years. Most live in a “safe place” and contain monthly backups and archives. I got this latest one as a TimeMachine drive for my MacBook and, as far as I can tell, it’s doing the job nicely. Daily (automatic) backups seem to run, and random checks on retrieval, work. By having multiple backups I’m less concerned about reliability as it would take at least three drives to fail to have a significant impact for me (as I would then need to spend time downloading from cloud backups). Me paranoid? I’ve had to recover data for people who have lost it without having a proper backup, and it rarely goes well. I don’t consider data safe until I have backups off-site and totally air-gapped.
Seagate drives, as all drives, can fail. But, if drive failure causes a significant problem, your strategy need’s reviewing. These drives are low cost and there’s no excuse to be too frugal.
I use SDDs (Samsung T5/T7 at the moment) for working – Seagate HDDs for backup and archiving.

No problems at all and it’s working how it should.
    Worth the money

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI have purchased a number of Seagate drives over the years and I am confident this one will be as good as the rest. However, it is noisy compared to others. This could be a function of the size of the drive and the fact that it is doing a Time Machine backup. For that reason I dropped a star from the rating. Will update after a few weeks.

Would still recommend Seagate drives which in understand have now been taken over by LaCie.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the 2nd one I have bought, after my son dropped the first one and knackered it. but that is no fault of the design, I guess any brand would break as it has moving parts inside (unlike a more expensive SSD). Easy to set-up, has ample storage and is good value for money.

If using for PS4 or anything similar, I would advice getting some sticky feet to attach it to your console so it doesn’t get knocked off

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve tried other “reasonably priced” storage devices only to find that they are not the capacity they claim to be. This one is the 2TB it claims to be (I’ve tested it). The reasonable price is due to the fact that it’s HDD not SSD, but I have had another Seagate SSD drive for years without any reliability problems, so I don’t foresee any problems with this one.

Great little drive. I brought this my Ps4 as a usb storage device. Works perfectly. Moved 100gb from internal storage to the drive in about an hour and a bit. Don’t notice any load speed impact. Highly recommended

Golden Review Award: 31 From Our UsersI still don’t understand why I can purchase this Seagate expansion backup unit for less than the cost of the naked Barracuda drive inside. Any hoo, if you want to use the drive as intended, it is designated a backup drive because it comes with software pre-loaded and the drive itself has two partitions, an EFI boot partition and a standard NTFS partition for your data. The idea being that you can easily boot from this unit in the event of a PC issue. But for those of us running Home Theatre PC’s, the case is fairly easy to get into to harvest the naked drive. I have all the proper spudger/case tools, but I was not able to open the case without breaking a few case clips, but most of us don’t keep the case after harvesting anyway.
Regardless of whether you are using as intended, or harvesting for another purpose, I have been running an HTPC for twelve years and have found the Seagate Barracudas to be incredibly reliable. Even the drives running almost 24/7 have lasted for a minimum of 8 years. I have also found that Barracudas never just work one day and not the next, they seem to gently remind you that they are starting to reach end-of-life. I ripple the older drives through the house network storage unit, which runs in RAID1. You will walk down the hallway and notice one day that the array is rebuilding. That is the indication that one of the Barracudas has done all it can and it is time to order a new drive. But even then, the Seagate drives usually hang on in for another two months, giving you plenty of time to order a shiny new one from Amazon. So, as long as Seagate keep making them, I’ll keep buying them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for both intended use and drive harvesting.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersReally slow transfer of data, But i only got this for steam games and it works great. So if you don’t mind waiting two or three hours depending on the size of the game, then yes it’s well worth the price.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis product is great for my job as it means I can offload Terabytes of footage unto a local (enough) device when a project is complete. 10TB is great to have and for the price I am delighted. However, the Drive makes a lot of noise and vibrations. This is due to the poor build quality of the product. The hard drive is encapsulated in a cheap plastic material.

For the first few hours of using the product, I kept thinking my phones was receiving a notification to finally realise that it was the hard drive making so much noise and the disk inside moving so much that it was causing the vibration.

Apart from that… It does what it’s meant to

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersThis review is for the “one touch” 14TB hub. I bought this drive due to my 10TB getting almost full. I’ve been using seagate drives for years with no issue. Some reviews state they don’t get the space advertised. Simple answer you do & you don’t. The “B” in the TB stands for bytes. So, if you buy a 14TB drive you will get 14000000000000 bytes, so in this sense you are getting what you pay for. In another sense 14000000000000 bytes is equal to approx 13.2 TB. Same goes with all the other sizes, this is standard with most manufacturers.
I can’t testify to the one touch function as I didn’t use it. When you first connect to a pc, click the “start here” icon. This will open your browser for the registration page. You only have to put your name and email to activate the warranty. Next it will ask you to download seagte software. I skipped this part as I didn’t want the one touch back up. I prefer manual copy or transfer, especially with large amounts of data. I got an average write speed of over 200 mb/s (approx 211 mb/s). I managed to transfer 9TB of data in better than expected time. I was so impressed that I have since bought another 14TB hub.
Just remember, this is a Hub so don’t directly connect it to another hub or you will likely only get 25 mb/s transfer rate. Connect it to its own USB port on your PC.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our Users01.06.2022 initial review
well 1st “portability” as a question found on the review!! its hmmm, you must have a power supply ie its not powered via USB so its not a 100% portable “without”
you do get a host of adaptors within the package so where-ever you maybe you shouldn’t be stuck without the correct plug choice…
you also get the necessary USB cable to connect to your device, again its fool proof “hmm, lets not kid ourselves you’ll see some muppets complaining due to having the cable reverse & doesn’t fit correctly etc.. YES the USB cable only fits one way around, a lil message to the muppets out there”

storage volume, well its not a true 4TB as a small amount of space has been taken due to the running software etc.. to this day I’m surprised there’s not a small memory chip within the circuit board to store such data leaving the full volume to the user.

anyway, the device.. its very very quiet when running, you do get a single ‘white’ LED proving power-on status etc & some small 2pre-fitted rubber feet. again it seems this unit is designed to be stood on its side rather then flat on the larger surface etc “I’m not sure if this would effect its running “I’m not really going to want to find that out”

file transfer, well upto now.. drone images & 4k, 1080p video transfers pretty damned quickly so I cant really see why anyone would need to moan.. regarding using this as a gaming HD device.. honestly I’d compare specs to similar devices OR contacting the manufacturer for definitive information.. relying upon amazon questions/answers “your asking for trouble”

yes the HD does come nicely packaged with info within & yes it arrived a week early (delivered 2days)

as all my reviews I’ll update further after more use

Really like the drive. There are a lot of reviews saying corrupted data cant access ect. For anyone having this problem bring up command prompt (start menu type cmd in search) then type the following (replace D: with drive letter the external drive is for you) chkdsk D: /f
Hit enter and this should solve most problems.

Use this for external storage on my PlayStation 5 since the console’s storage isn’t huge and new game releases are getting larger and larger. I use this to store all of my ps4 games on and with its large storage I can download my backlog of games on to it so I can play them whenever I want. It does its job which is all I want.

The transfer from my laptop to the hard drive is absolutely really quick. Just only 5 minutes for 40GB to transfer. The hard drive very light, easy to use, and also the rescue plan is brilliant. I have no experience with rescue plan before but feel safe to buy this one due to 3 years to guarantee rescue data if any accident happens in the future. This brand Seagate is of course popular and reliable compare with other brands. The hard drive looks very thick and safe. Recommended.

Worked easily with a quick reformat for Mac. It increased my capacity on my Mac mini and works fine with Catalina. No need for external power. Everything through the standard USB port. I did try with time machine but would recommend avoiding that. At least ensure you don’t do auto back up as it will fill quite easily and eventually delete all the original stuff if you are not careful. Great product though, not the hard drives fault that developers try and control you.

Golden Review Award: 118 From Our UsersBought this portable hard drive to use with my playstation 4 to extend its storage capacity.
Came within the time stated and was well packaged in clear hard plastic packaging inside the usual amazon box.
Literally just plugged it into a spare usb slot on the front of the ps4 and it was recognized straight away.
Ps4 formatted it and asked if I wanted to use as main storage and I was all done.
Definitely recommend. My son has had a Seagate portable drive for his ps4 for more than a year and no problems (and it is heavily used). We have also taken it away with us when it was not possible to surgically remove him from his ps4 and it still works fine.
