Beautifully and realistically printed to give the perfect background impression to your photos. The size is pretty neat too so you’ll be comfortable working with your composition. My only bad points will go to the packaging which doesn’t protect the panels from being damaged (marked) in transport and also to the relative fragility of the panel corners. Very nice to work with but still need some attention to be kept from being damaged. Handle with care.
Having tried initially to film video of products on a desk etc. I found it looked awful especially with things in the background. This set of panels is totally brilliant and would be one of my “top ten” essential items for product work (close up). What makes these good is they are RIGID – honestly, I cannot stress enough how quick and simple this makes life. Put one down as the “table” (I use the darker concrete) and one against the wall behind, vertically, as the out of focus backdrop (I use one of the wooden floor effects). Job done.
Another use I have for these in video is “top down” shots (I film using my phone on an arm, looking down at the desk, the product and my hands using it), the lighter concrete panels are ideal for this, it just looks like you’re shooting on a hard and slightly weathered surface, and best of all, just blends away as a backdrop.
I did also order some rolled-up backdrops and these are a nightmare to flatten out or keep flat.
I know these panels cost a bit more but for me it has been a worthwhile investment and my advice is ALWAYS go for rigid panels, not rolled paper or card.
Good quality prints. Big enough for food and product photography. They are easy to wipe and do not reflect light from a soft box. My only complaint is that some of the flat lays came damaged. The cement one has a dent right in the middle and one of the wooden one has one of its corner smashed. Not a big problem as it won’t appear in the shots and the one with the middle dent can be easily removed in post but it got me worried that I would find other nasty dents. Given it came all the way from China it is actually a miracle they are more or less intact. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and they’ll be very useful in my food blog.
