Made in Japan

All Sigma products, lenses, cameras and flash units are manufactured exclusively by Sigma in Sigma’s own factory in Aizu, Japan. No Sigma Corporation product – lens, camera or flash – is manufactured outside of Japan. This is very unusual these days, as most companies have at least some of their products produced outside of Japan because of cost considerations.

There’s a reason why SIGMA continues to insist on the very highest quality in its product manufacturing: our love of photography is second to none.

We deeply appreciate the photographer’s desire to record and express—the passion of the photographer.

    Quality lens, great AF, good value lens. Used on my Sony ASPC A6400, at 400mm it gives me 600mm of focal coverage, due to ASPC sensor. Add in a little A6400 internal camera zoom, WOWSA!

    Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis is one of the best 100-400 lenses, it’s just as good as significantly more expensive Sony lens. It’s a lot better than the new Tamron 50-400, though it costs about half. I’m using it with Sony A7Riii and Nikon Z6ii w/adapter, it works perfectly with both cameras.

    Using this lens with an aps-c body camera. 150-600 mm equivalent. Excellent focus capabilities and the added focal length for great closeups of wildlife. Does very nice with my full frame body also, just less reach. Very happy with this purchase.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersUpdate: sold this and switced to Sony 200-600 G. Internal zoom is superior to external zoom which is what this lens has.

    I generally get Sony G/GM lenses, but I decided to save some money – and more importantly, weight – and go with the Sigma here. Very happy with my decision. Have taken this on a number of hiking, birding, and concert outings and loved the results, esp. at 400mm. The lens is very sharp, and good (though not perfect) on contrast.

    Only ding is the auto focus quality. With less light than a larger aperture lens, it does miss Bird Eye AF more often.

    Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe lens advantages :
    – Very sharp images when there is enough light
    – Very good stabilization
    – Good enough autofocus (on the average)
    – Feels premium : build quality and weather sealed
    – All of that for the price !!

    The only things to consider if you are a professional (what may bothers you) :
    – does the aperture capabilities bothers you ? (it’s pretty dark in the long end, not really good for getting details after the golden hour and it will produce noises) : if it does, I’d recommend the Sigma 150-600mm instead
    – do you need a more neutral color to minimize your editing ? (sigma lenses are producing a bit warm color cast and I can’t get too much of the other colors details) : see the uploaded photos
    – do you need a faster autofocus for bird photography to never miss a shot ? I’d recommend the Tamron 150-500 or Sony GM / G

    Very good photos results for the price, and it has good stabilization !

    Golden Review Award: 6 From Our Userslook… you can always spend a ton of money to buy the highest rated lenses but if you have limitations on funds… this is a great lens. make no mistake about it, it is not light and pushing out to the greatest mm (out to 400) you will either need a tripod or monopod to hold a sharp shot. lighting is key to how happy you will be with this lens if you shoot far away. make no mistake about it that shooting a long way off isnt the only good part of this lens. taking close up shots can be done from a few feet away and allows the shooter to get some tack sharp shots close up as well. i use this lens with a small sony a6000 body and losing the extra weight of a full size camera body helps to reduce the stress due to the lens weight.

    Love this lens! Purchased with E mount for the Sony A 7lll. It has a lock & IS settings. Even cropped way in image holds with barely any noticeable noise at all. Good value for the dollar spent. If possible, I will edit & upload some zoomed & cropped moon pics. Photos uploaded are 3rd generation, and degraded.. directly from Sony camera to Smartphone via Sony’s Picture Memories to here. Photos of 3/4 moon on LCD couldn’t be sharper!

Make sure you send it to sigma for a firmware upgrade if you have Ver .01. Big improvement on AF and OS. Also will give you the option to update later firmwares via camera. Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have tried the Sony 200-600 the Sony 100-400 and the Tamron 150-500. Both the Sonys had slightly better overall quality, and in my estimation the Sigma was neck and neck with the Tamron in picture quality. The Auto focus felt just as responsive as the Sony pair, and better than the Tamron. Best Bang for the buck, at least my buck.

    Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersHier ein kurzes erstes Fazit nach etwa 600 Bildern.

    Addon: Die 100mm Leistung ist im Nahbereich untadelig. In der Ferne sind 100, 200 mm leicht schwcher im Kontrast als 300 und 400 mm. Die 100mm Leistung in Punkto Schrfe ist strker als beim Tamron-28-75 bei 75 mm, jedoch etwas schwcher als ein MD 100 mm Rokkor von 1980. Hinkt vielleicht etwas 🙂
    Fr ~50 Third-Party Schelle gekauft – es gibt hier genug gute Alternativen.

    Optisch gut - Gewicht üppig - Ausstattung ohne Stativschelle schwach - 100mm schlechter als 400mm

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUtilizzo il sigma 100-400 su sony a7III. Lo trovo comodo e facilmente portatile. Aggancia velocemente l’obiettivo da soddisfazione! Non sar luminosissimo ma quando si impara ad utilizzarlo come un cecchino solo che qui sono shot fotografici! Ha:
    – un selettore per la stabilizzazione (off, per obbiettivi fissi, per obiettivi in movimento);
    – un selettore per la distanza di messa a fuoco;
    – ha il tasto di blocco per trasportare l’obiettivo in spalla in modo che non si allunghi.
    Nell’attacco al corpo macchina tropicalizzato mediante un anello di gomma.
    Un peso piuma per una bella focale! Consigliato.

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFr wirklich scharfe Fotos ist der Autofokus nicht geeignet. Ich bin dazu bergegangen, manuell scharf zu stellen und eine mglichst kleine Blendenffnung zu verwenden. Dann werden bei Fotos von weit entfernten Objekten die gewnschten Bildinhalte auch wirklich scharf. Aufgrund des Gewichtes (selbst mit der leichten Alpha 6500) ist das manuelles Fokussieren aus der Hand aufwendig. Deshalb habe ich immer hufiger ein gutes Dreibeinstativ dabei, wenn ich mit diesem Objektiv auf die Pirsch gehe.
    Auch bei Objekten in einer Entfernung von bis zu zehn Metern vertraue ich nicht mehr dem Autofokus, weil bei greren Blendenffnungen der Autofokus zu hufig die falschen Bereiche scharf stellt.
    Die Farben der JPG- und Rohformatdateien sind unbearbeitet zu schwach. Da erreiche ich mit meinen krzeren Brennweiten wesentlich brilliantere Fotos bereits ohne Nachbearbeitung.
    Mein Fazit: Es holt gut heran, hat aber seine eindeutigen Schwchen.

    L’ho testata sulla mia A6600 e devo dire che la riuscita ottima. Lente molto pesante sopratutto per le dimensioni del corpo macchina. Ben costruita e luminosa per quelle che sono le aspettative di resa per una lente con un costo relativamente contenuto. Personalmente l’ho poi sostituita con il sony 70 – 350 che seppur con minore lunghezza focale per le mie aspettative rende meglio anche in termini di dimensioni decisamente piu ridotte.

    Nice, relatively affordable telephoto zoom for Sony e-mount. There are plenty of reviews out there. My copy was in original packaging and works well. It’s cheaper than the Sony 100-400, but it is still a very expensive piece of kit. It works well in sunny environment for portraits and nature photos. Good for birding to some extent, but don’t expect miracles. If a small bird is more than 10 m away, you’ll not be able to make great photos with this lens, especially with foliage around the subject. Having said that, it is a nice compromise in this range. Stabilisation is good, af. Is mostly usable, especially with stationary subjects. It is a shame we can’t get the tripod collar in India.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBin sehr zufrieden mit dem Objektiv.
    Generell schon ab Offenblende schon sehr scharf auch der Rand ist gut (Alpha 7 iii, wie es mit hherer Auflsung ist kann ich leider nicht sagen) Autofokus brauch im unbegrenzten Bereich schon einmal ein wenig lnger als zum Beispiel das Tamron 28-200 oder 70-180mm f2.8. Begrenzt man je nach Motiv auf 6 m bis unendlich (oder andersherum) passt es aber wieder.
    Nicht falsch verstehen, das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau. Man brauch einen Moment” lnger aber immer noch nicht lang Der Autofokus sitzt bei mir bisher bei 8 von 10 Bildern bei Serienbildern an der Alpha 7iii (AF Reaktionsschnell und auf Fokusprio). Das ist nicht schlechter oder besser als beim Tamron. Bin also schon echt zufrieden.
    Lichtstrke ist auch voll und ganz ausreichend fr meine Ansprche, bei wenig Licht geht die ISO natrlich hoch, aber durch den Bildstabilisation kann ich mit 400 mm noch 1/25 problemlos unverwackelt auslsen.
    Kaufentscheidend war bei mir die kompakte Bauform und die damit verbundene Mobilitt. Habe es mit der Stativschelle am Peak Design Slide hngen und es stellt einen guten Begleiter im Wald und Park da.
    Zum Transport passt es an der Kamera auch in einen recht Kompakten Rucksack (bei mir aktuell Vanguard VEO SELECT 39, mit Tamron 28-200 und Samyang 18 mm und diversen Kleinkram)
    Wrde es jederzeit nochmal kaufen.

    Gute Leistung zu Gutem Preis bei kompakter Bauform

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis Sigma lens is well constructed, and the images I shot were very sharp. Image stabilization works well and autofocus is ok. Unless you are a professional who will really beat up the lens, I would say there paying $1400 more for the Sony is a waste of money. In terms of performance and build, I don’t perceive enough difference to pay double the price. While some foks complain about the extra $100 for the tripod adapter, that’s crazy. The lens is still half the price of the Sony even with the tripod adapter.

    Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersI have been using the Sigma with a7iii for three months now, and I have some thoughts.

    Firstly the optical quality. It is very sharp, provided you know the limitations of the 6.3 aperture at 400mm (that is you need to keep a fast shutter speed handheld). No complaints here.

    Number two is the image stabilization. It is well above average, and can stabilize general hand shake while zoomed out.

    Number three is the autofocus. AF on this is quite snappy. At 400mm it may lose focus on a far away tiny bird for a few seconds (as all telephoto lenses do) but once you get it to focus, it stays locked on.

    Number four is the frame rate. You can expect to get a good 8fps on electronic shutter on the a7iii.

    Only negative that I can say here is the weight, which would not be a problem if the tripod collar had been provided. But no seller on Amazon, or anywhere for that matter can get you that collar in India. It (Sigma ts-111 collar) is the rarest and rarest of them all. It is however available everywhere outside India. I am still on the hunt for one, and will update if Amazon decides to put one up for sale.

    All in all, quite satisfied with this lens, but aching shoulders and forearm yearns for the tripod collar. It is a must if you want to use this on a tripod.

    Great lens with One Huge Co

    Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersInizio da cosa mi piaciuto di questo obiettivo, utilizzato con Sony a7 III:
    -La nitidezza a tutte le focali ottima;
    -La messa a fuoco veramente veloce, vicina alle ottiche Sony;
    -Stabilizzazione fantastica;
    -Il peso accettabile, non una piuma ma per essere un 100-400 va pi che bene;
    -La costruzione discreta in relazione al prezzo a cui viene proposto.
    Quello che al contrario non mi piaciuto:
    -Contenuto della confezione insufficiente, non viene fornito il supporto per il treppiede, e questo rende inutilizzabile l’obiettivo su cavalletto. Si deve mettere in conto una spesa di circa 150 per prendere quello originale sigma e per un obiettivo che costa circa 1000 ritengo non sia accettabile;
    -Pi buio della controparte Sony.
    Con il supporto per il treppiede incluso nella confezione sarebbe stato un best buy!

    Ottimo obiettivo ma confezione incompleta!

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAdv:
    1. Really good zoom range.(600mm max on apsc)
    2. Very good build quality
    3. Performance excels when enough light is available
    4. Focus limitter is an excellent combination.
    – 6m and less for close shoot
    – 6m to infinity for long range
    – all options as well ( Bokeh are too busy in this setting)
    5. Image stabilization is very good. 3 options are there
    No stabilization
    Stage 1: seems like this one is better while view through the camera
    Stage 2: It’s little more stable only when u click the shutter button, else feels like a little shaky via view finder/camera screen

    6. Its a slow apature lens(5-6.3), Adobe lightroom can improve the pictures
    7. No other lens at this price point offer such features and quality.

    Disadvantages:
    1. Weight 1.1kg min very difficult to use hand held. Especially on apsc cams
    2. I didn’t find an option to buy the lens tripod mount(collar mount) in Amazon together with lens.
    3. Can’t use like a normal 70-300 lens, it need some effort

    Personally I like this lens a lot.
    I returned it because I felt too difficult to use it because of the weight and unavailability of the supporting components. Looking for a light lens else I’ll buy this again if I get a tripod colla

    Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersDas SIGMA 100-400 Contemporary habe ich seit dem Erscheinen im Juli2020 im Fokus. Zuvor hatte ich mich fr das G-Master 100-400 interessiert. Ich setze das Objektiv an einer Sony @7R2 ein. Ziel der Fotoproduktion ist der Offsetdruck im Bereich Landschaftsfotografie. Ein Einsatz im Bereich Tier-/Vogelfotografie ist nicht vorgesehen.

    Das Objektiv ist hochwertig verarbeitet und macht visuell und haptisch einen wertigen Eindruck.
    Der Bedienung kommt die Kompaktheit sehr zugute; die Gegenlichtblende lsst sich schnell und sicher umdrehen und verkleinert die Lnge fr den Transport sehr angenehm.
    Sehr schn ist die Lock-Taste, die das Ausfahren des Zoom-Tubus verhindert.
    Das Zoomen erfolgt per Drehen oder Schieben und ist somit situationsangepasst mglich.
    Die optische Qualitt ist herausragend. Hervorragende Schrfeabbildung, neutraler Farbumfang.
    Die Stativschelle TS-111 halte ich fr zwingend erforderlich. Sie ist einfach zu montieren; zu beachten ist, dass der am Objektiv befindliche Gummiring zuvor zu entfernen ist.
    Insgesamt ein in diesem Brennweitensegment unschlagbare Optik, die dem SONY G-Master erhebliche Konkurrenz bereiten wird.

    Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIl mio primo tele “spinto” per Full Frame Mirrorless, dopo aver posseduto in passato varie ottiche lunghe per Nikon FF. Le dimensioni non sono ovviamente piccole, ma comunque in rapporto alla focale accettabili, cos come il peso.
    il 100-400 si presenta ben fatto e solido e su questo non posso che confermare la bont del progetto SIGMA, di cui possiedo anche il 24-70 2.8 Art (che rimane comunque un gradino superiore come costruzione). Davvero gradita la presenza del tasto personalizzabile (settabile dal men della Sony) oltre che del selettore di modalit di stabilizzazione e di quello della distanza minima (o massima) di messa a fuoco (per velocizzare l’af).
    Autofocus che si presenta rapido e reattivo, anche se ovviamente perde qualcosa al calar della luce.
    Immagini nitide gi a F5, ovviamente chiudendo la situazione non fa che migliorare sino a f11, ma dipende sempre dall’uso che farete di questa lente. Io sinceramente non faccia sportavifauna e l’ho preso pi che altro per paesaggistica dove non posso che parlarne benissimo, risolve egregiamentei 42mpx della A7R2.

    Un DIFETTO davvero importante per me:
    – la mancanza della staffa, che con un’ottica di questo tipo diventa quantomeno utile per non dire indispensabile. L’originale SIGMA difficile da trovare e costa uno sproposito, vi consiglio una compatibile ad un terzo del prezzo.

    Infine un vezzo estetico, a molti non piacer la forma conica dell’a parte che si aggancia al corpo macchina, ma tenete a mente che indispensabile per poter avere un punto dove inserire la mano quando si scatta.

    In conclusione un’ottica davvero buona, non troverete di meglio a questo prezzo per Sony. Consigliata!

    Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersTypical of Sigma’s ‘Contemporary’ line of lenses, the 100-400mm DG DN OS aims for good performance in a compact and lightweight package, at a competitive asking price. It comes up trumps for image quality, delivering excellent sharpness and contrast, while keeping colour fringing, distortions, ghosting and flare to a minimum. It’s pricier than the original DSLR-mount DG OS HSM version of the lens but the boost in image quality makes it well worth the extra outlay.
    Sigma has beaten the competition in being the first third-party lens maker to offer a native, mirrorless-optimized full-frame super-telephoto zoom for Sony’s E-mount, and at just 80-90k it is a very attractive alternative to its name-brand competitor.

    Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersNach gut 2 Wochen Wartezeit war es endlich soweit: das Objektiv ist endlich angekommen. Erster Einduck, nachdem ich die Packung aufgerissen habe (shame on me): stabil gebaut, wertiger Eindruck. So wie alle meine Objektive. Ich habe neben original Sony-Objektiven nur Sigmas, normalerweise aus der Art-Reihe. Aber da mein Hobby mehr Model- und Reisefotografie ist, dachte ich mir, fr gelegentliche Tier- und Sportaufnahmen sollte ein Contemporary-Objektiv eigentlich reichen. Und nach den ersten Tests muss ich sagen: ja, es reicht definitiv aus. Es funktioniert sehr gut mit meiner Sony 7 R iii. Keine matschigen Bereiche, alles schn klar, und der Autofokus ist eine Wucht. Klar ist das Objektiv recht schwer (vor allem im Vergleich zu meinem Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8), aber mit dem Brennweitenbereich ist das klar. Einziger Schwachpunkt ist aus meiner Sicht, dass keine Stativschelle mit dabei ist. Wirklich schade – die braucht es bei so einem Objektiv. OK wird halt nachbestellt. Also somit: klare Kaufempfehlung. Und Amazon hat auch einen guten Job gemacht. Es hat zwar ein wenig gedauert, bis das Objektiv bei mir war, aber das Warten hat sich gelohnt.

    Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersEstoy acostumbrado a objetivos Sony serie G de gran calidad, y este me ha sorprendido por la gran nitidez que logra.

    Sus puntos fuertes, aparte del excelente rango focal 100-400 son sin duda:
    -Enfoque ultra rpido y silencioso
    -Nitidez respetable incluso a sus mximas aperturas
    -Estabilizacin muy eficaz

    Lo ms destacado para m es esto ltimo, la excelente estabilizacin. Un objetivo como este, con una apertura mxima de f5 – 6.3 es en principio un objetivo “lento”, pero gracias a la estabilizacin se pueden hacer fotos varios pasos por debajo de lo que es tericamente recomendable, por lo que podemos por ejemplo hacer una foto a 400mm, sin trpode, con una velocidad de 1/200 o 1/125 sin arriesgarnos a tener la foto borrosa por trepidacin, lo cual a m personalmente me parece sorprendente y es algo que compensa de sobra la escasa apertura.

    En cuanto a sus puntos flacos, el tamao sin duda es incmodo si no ests acostumbrado a teleobjetivos, no cabe en cualquier bolsa de cmara, pero comparndolo con otros de rango focal similar, es de hecho ms contenido, menos voluminoso y pesado.

    Un excelente trabajo de Sigma para cmaras FF sin espejo.
