This keyboard is the best 60% Keyboard you will ever see in the gaming community it’s actuation is very accurate and helpful in gaming if you are trying to get this keyboard for your son or someone I would definitely recommend this!
I’ve had 6 gaming keyboards ranging from a cheap 10 dollar one to this one, I had reaf that it was one of the fastest keyboards in the market which is definitely true, it came with an usb c cable to plug the keyboard and a keycap puller. Very good buy, recommended
In 2020 I got addicted to Fortnite & I’m playing ever since at least 3 days a week
I’m 39 years old I love playing PC games
There’s a reason why this is the best keyboard for Fortnite because in game while you are building & editing & switching weapons even a fraction of a second is key to be faster over your opponents
So this keyboard’s specialty is the ability to set the “Actuation” which means the responsiveness-speed-sensitivity of the keys
You can set between 0.2 (to be honest this is waaaay to sensitive) to 3.8
My optimal setting is 0.6 is perfect for Fortnite but a bit too sensitive for just typing
This is a mechanical keyboard so it is loud & all of the keys are “independent from each other” so you can press all the 104 keys together & it will register
It has a lot of presets for coloring the keys & wave effects etc…
You can load any black & white image for the small OLED screen which is really cool
This is the best keyboard I’ve ever have
The keyboard is amazing – compared to the Logitech and Razer equivalent-ish models the latency is noticably lower, and the customisation software actually works.
The only problem is the battery lasts like 16 hours, so I am charging it during the week. And you really have to charge it from a wall block / socket, otherwise you will come back to it in the morning, and the battery is still pretty much flat!
This review is for Steelseries Apex Pro TKL 2023, bought it for 99 from Amazon Marketplace.
Returned Apex 9 TKL and bought this Apex Pro TKL 2023, which is way better than Apex 9 in many aspects, like the key press sound, ability to change the actuation distance, dual actuation, even the the rgb backlight looks better in Apex Pro.
I bought this as I recently upgraded my desk and computer for software development and I have never enjoyed a keyboard so much in my life. From the customisation to the comfort I cannot give this product a high enough review. It is extremely responsive for hours of coding and comfortable with or without the magnetic support pad. As for taking, I have seriously levelled up my skill! The customisable macros allow me to pull off some incredible combinations!
I had the Wireless version but sent it back as the battery life was not as advertised (maybe i got a lemon).
The wired one is much better i’m happy to say. It sounds better and is very nice to use. Got it on a good discount and am happy i went for the wired one. Can happily recommend.
Overall im pleased with the apex pro, i did not expect the key switches to feel so buttery smooth and they dont have much of a hollow sound compared to the apex 7 edition.
One thing I will say is depending on the game your playing, you might not notice the fast actuation, modern warfare 2 is a great example, the game is designed to make movement and animations slower so despite how fast the keyboard is, you wont have the advantage, not the fault of SteelSeries, games like Fortnite or apex legends will benefit more.
The 2 in 1 feature I have not tried, I will update the review in due course when I figured it out.
pro
-detachable USB
-actuation of 0.2, feels very responsive depending on the game
-good software
-RGB is good
-oled screen can have a nice gif logo
-key switches are butter smooth
-keys are double shot, long lasting
cons
-expensive
-not hot swappable
-wrist rest is a dust magne
as a twitcher and youtuber found out the hardest way sbest things dont alweays come in small packages 🙂 as a gamer an using razer corsair and just moved over to steelseries bought the pro tkl thinking i could get away from using it without the number pad, but then found that for some software and some games i actually need the number pad lol belive it or not, and found that i couldnt do certain actions within game shame though so put it to a 2 star for gaming, lucky tho as i did a straight exchange to the apex pro which is the one with the number pad – and again smiling as always
I use mostly for Fortnite a hated game I know but I enjoy it, great for editing and building, super responsive, wish it had better stabilisers and PBT Keycaps, my keycaps have began to shine through, I’d expect better from such an expensive keyboard,, performance wise it’s amazing, but my girlfriend has gotten me the huntsman mini in linear switches, which will arrive soon and I’m looking forward to it, it isn’t a needed upgrade tho or maybe a downgrade but I’ve really wanted a 60% Keyboard. Make sure to keep an eye out for when the price dips lower, there were points it was 200 but I managed to get it when it was about 149
I’m going to break this review down into two sections; first being Amazon and the second being this product.
Amazon. I love the company if there was ever such things as an Amazon fangirl… I’m probably one of them. The delivery came way earlier than I expected (definitely score some brownie points there) unfortunately the product arrived damaged (see picture) the funny thing is there is no damage to the SteelSeries packaging nor the Amazon box which really baffled me. [That’s why I’m knocking 1 star off]
In future Amazon (if you ever see this) don’t put the product in such an oversized box with very little protection that’s what may have caused the damage or least put “Fragile” on the box that way the courier will know.
Onto the main event… The product.
Just a quick disclaimer: I’ve only had the product for a day so I can’t go too much into detail.
I love the keyboard design, it’s sleek and has a premium feel. My only downside is the cable: it’s not as long (which I don’t mind personally) and it is one thick cable that is a little bit tricky to manoeuvre for that all-important cable management. It has two USB heads; one is for the keyboard and the other is for the nifty USB pass through you can find on the top left (pretty cool feature indeed especially for those hard to reach USB ports)
Once plugged in the keyboard lights up in an array of colours, there are up to 5 programmable keyboard settings, which can be edited or created (if you’re feeling adventurous) via the SteelSeries Engine software. You can turn the lights off too using the dedicated keyboard shortcuts which is a bonus too.
I took the keyboard for a test run when it comes to typing and overall it’s good; it’s fast, feels comfortable when typing. The only downside (which again is a minor issue) is the sound the keys make when typing – it’s a lot louder than I anticipated so be warned.
In terms of gaming; I tweaked the actuation force to the lowest it could go and gave it a spin on Minecraft (yes I know, trust me I’m going to test the keyboard with an FPS soon) my goodness was it super responsive so much so I saved myself very quickly from falling to my death in the game.
Overall I would give the product a solid 4.5/5
