Love this backpack. Extremely lightweight, doesn’t even feel like I have it on. Can fit my 15″ laptop, with keyboard, study materials and umbrella into the main compartment. Highly recommended
I’m immensely pleased with this backpack. It’s relatively lightweight (which is what I wanted) but very robust and comfortable to wear. It’s compact but has a great range of separately zippable pockets. The padded laptop cover (with velcro fastener) is separate from the main bag and so can be taken out when not needed or used in a different bag: for me this is a bonus.
The bag is great for going to work but for travelling abroad etc there’s not much room in it.
i have had the same targus laptop bag for 20 years , i have used it every day and its traveled the world with me for my job . the only reason i am replacing it is my Son has taken it with him for his job abroad.
can not recommend them enough
Great capacity and very practical for cycling. I can fit in my laptop, a portable monitor, all cables etc. , gym gear and shoes.
It doesn’t elevate the bag from your back like some biking rucksacks do to stop you getting sweaty but that would lose space in the bag so it is a fair trade-off.
It has a soft layer below the laptop compartment to prevent damage when you put the rucksack down.
You can attach a strap across your chest to secure the shoulder straps.
Also, it is neat and relatively stylish compared to other, similar rucksacks which have fasteners and cords dangling from every angle.
I was looking for a back where I could put my ciclying shoes separately from the rest of my staff, with space enough to put everything I need for the gym and this bag is just what I was looking for
It is good quality, spacious, lighter than other bags, stylist and comfortable. I just love i
Best rucksack ever.. good sturdy quality and plenty of room for stuff. Worth every penny and more. From a man point of view… not too small and not too big… Just perfect for the laptop and all your other bits and bobs … Various pockets and divisions in bag and excellently thought ou
I wanted something for carrying my older, and heavier, 17-inch laptop to work every day without forcing me to walk at the funny angle my messenger bag results in. Also, I didn’t want something too big having occasionally to use public transport and prefer to avoid catching other passengers with it as I’m boarding and alighting. Big enough but not too big!
Seems a lot of larger laptop backs are biased to those of us travelling for a couple of nights or taking everything in our home offices with us and are correspondingly capacious.
This bag is satisfyingly shallow and offers a good balance between storage capacity and utility. It’s big enough for my massive brick of a laptop and has enough pockets and dividers to squirrel stuff away for day-to-day use.
The overall construction is robust enough 2-months in. The outer has kept things dry in reasonably heavy showers and the carry handle at the top with its plastic outer makes using it far more comfortable than it would have been without. The rain cover (something I appreciate on my camera backpacks) will be a welcome addition for those odd occasions I might get caught in a downpour without a doorway or caf to hide in. Haven’t used it yet but have tried digging it out and putting it away, which is easy.
The only minor detraction is the shoulder straps, they just feel a little narrow. Strong enough I’m sure but just not quite as good as the rest of the bag, maybe made a bit more noticeable because the bag is used for carrying a reasonably large/heavy laptop.
That said, well pleased and would recommend if you want something that’s big enough for daily use carrying a mobile workstation and less likely to hurt other passengers as you get on and off the tube or bus.
I use this everyday for travelling to work with my 17″ laptop. Either by car or on my push bike, this bag is durable, comfortable and quite stylish. It has so many compartments to store various bits, like laptop, books, change of clothes, lunchbox, then things like phone, wallet, pens etc! It is perfect!
arrived quickly and good value of money had this one before used it every day to and from work lasted well only reason I bought it again was the zip busted on the old one because I over filled it but its a popular make within my company among the staff for carrying the laptops also makes a great weekend back pack just love the mesh pocket which I use to hold my umbrella during winter and water bottle during summer, nice wide straps and pads with a none slip material and a mesh on the part of the pack that touches your back so it aids air flow
would buy agai
I would highly recommend this bag. Good sized main compartment, pouch for cables/mouse etc, padded inner bag for laptop, internal pouches and key hook are great features.
Bought one as a school bag for Yr7 son. Easily stores A4 folder, notepad, book, lunch bag and PE kit.
I’ve used one daily as my laptop bag. Had it about 4 years and it shows no sign of wear. Really durable and comfortable. Easily fits in everything you need for a day at the office.
I don’t normally bother to review products but I love this backpack. Thought has clearly gone into every aspect making it perfect for someone who uses a laptop for work and also likes to go the gym or cycle. The number of compartments is phenomenal and allows you to properly pack everything neatly. It’s clearly been designed by someone who needs and will use this kind of backpack. I can fit my work laptop, charger, trainers, gym kit, toiletries and still have space to buy some groceries on the way home. Brilliant backpack, very pleased with it!
I love this backpack. I knew about this brand before and mostly heard good things about it’s products. Now after using this product, I can blindly recommend it and other backpacks from this brand. It is handy with lots of storage options in pockets and carriers. The laptop carry section is well padded and has an elastic velcro holder so even wider laptops will be securely placed in the bag. The chambers are water resistant (not proof, due to some seepage through the zipline). The shoulder rests and back area are well padded, such that you can carry heavy stuff in it comfortably and walk for hours.
I use this bag everyday for work, my previous bags all seemed to split the stitching where the carry straps connect to the bag very soon after buying them. Probably my fault for overloading them. Needless to say, I had to replace them quite often. After delivery I felt the quality of this bag and expected the same, I am very surprised to still be using this same bag over a 18 months later with no stitching or zip issues and I still overload my bag as I always have done. The zips are of good quality, unlike lots of my previous bags and there are lots of different zipped pockets for all your little accessories or chargers/leads etc.
Good bag and recommended.
This is a decent laptop backpack, good space and protection for your lapper as well an plenty of room for adapters and other cables as well as any documents, notebooks or whatever else you need to carry. Robust and sturdy. Only minor complaint is that it’s a bit heavy, so if you’ve a smaller/lightweight laptop you might want to research other options if weight is a priority.
Just took delivery of this Targus Strike 17.3″ Gaming Laptop Backpack backpack today (29/8/19)
No damage, no broken zippers etc. Everything looks to be in working order.
As you can see the gaming laptop I own just about fits in this bag.
Ignore the fancy advert videos for any laptop bag and check video reviews as you’ll get a better idea of how your laptop will fit the gaming laptop bag you’re looking for.
The one I wanted, which ia an Asus Predator Laptop bag, isn’t currently available and as I’m going away for a short while, I needed one to put this in.
Searched online and found a few that looked ideal, but after looking at online video reviews I chose this one, as I can also use it for work.
My Gaming Laptop is an Asus Predator Helios 300
Size: 15.4 x 10.5 x 1.1 inches (39.1 x 26.7 x 2.8cm; W x D x H)
(Imperial size:15.4 x 10.5 x 1.5 inches. Metric )
Check your laptop to make sure your laptop will fit the back you want. Mine fits this back (just)
I’ve given it a 5 star rating. (For now)
Will update this review after I’ve used it for a little while, along with more photos after I’ve used this for a few months. So expect an updated review around mid November. Just in time to help you out for Chrimbo time.
I use my laptop bag pretty much every day, for work, travel and play. I normally carry two 14″ laptops, a surface and a 10″ tablet, as well as a label printer, screwdriver, cutters, cable ties and a massive assortment of cables. My last bag, a HP own branded bag at double the cost of this, lasted about 12 months, though showed signs of wear after just a month, and had issues fitting it all in. This, no problem. Will take it all and more! Very comfortable, even with 15Kg+ in it, and useful little pockets dotted around. Added benefit is that it is helping to remove plastic from the environment. Very happy customer.
Good bag. Material seems rugged and though I’ve not yet got it soaked, it seems like it could handle it.
The bag is a little smaller than I expected, once youve got some A4 notebooks in the main section, you’re probably not going to get much else in there. May be a more useful bag if it had two sections instead of three so you get a space big enough to put a bit of shopping or a jacket. The straps are also pretty short at their longest and they have quite large (and consequently redundant) plastic toggles to help quickly shorten them. Overall a great bag for city and office stuff but very little utility for anything else.
I got this to replace an older Dell bag which was very much past its sell by date.
Overall I am very happy with the purchase.
It seems pretty rugged, looks nice, is very light and has plenty of pockets to store things.
The one thing that is nice is that the bag stand up on its own , no more having to lean it against something.
Downsides – its a little smaller than my previous bag , I had to drop the old laptop sleeve as it didnt fit fully inside but the bags laptop pouch is so nicely padded it probably wont be missed .
Very happy with the purchase.
I love that its genuinely comfortable to carry, no heat build up on my back and nice chest strap to help secure the load. Plenty of compartments for separating all your kit. Convenient (washable) dirty clothes bag is a great addition as I always need another bag of some kind for sweaty kit. Downsides I would say is security, the zippers are quite large and zip action is a smooth glide (also a positive) so could easily be opened whilst on your back and nothing to stop the entire main compartment being fully opened by anyone, dropping everything stored that isn’t in a fastened compartment. The main compartment zippers can have a padlock though. I like the shoe compartment, it can fit most large shoes, probably my hi-top boots if I tried. Just be aware that the shoe compartment is essentially a pocket of the mid compartment that is accessed from the bottom. The larger the shoes the more space you lose in the mid compartment. Not a major problem for me as I have very low profile trainers but could be annoying if you try to store normal shoes in it and other items in the mid compartment at the same time. Made the idea of having the separate zipper at the bottom pointless really – Its just another compartment that could be opened without you knowing and everything drops out as its upside down. I use it for my trainers before training and dirty kit after. I have seen enough pickpockets operate around london and heard stories to be wary of these easy access issues. For under 40 not disappointed at all though – needs improvements from Targus
My previous targus laptop rucksack (“Targus TSB167EU A7 Laptop Computer Backpack”
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003H758CI) was absolutely excellent; this one is very good, but doesn’t quite live up to it.
The material isn’t quite as flexible, so even though it seems nearly as tough, I don’t seem to be able to fit quite as much into it. I guess that’s the compromise making it from recycled plastic bottles or whatever.
There are not quite as many pockets either; my previous one had loads of zip pockets everywhere. This one has 3 compartments, then 2 other pockets; the other must have had over 10 pockets.
It seems pretty tough and well made, but just doesn’t fit as much for the same size + weight.
Amazing bag, supports the laptop well with plenty of room, the other sections equally impressive although if you’re looking for a bag for travelling etc, this is not the one. The actual bag capacity is very limited, but it serves its purpose as a laptop/gym wear carrier perfectly.
The only reason I’m giving this four stars is because the chest strap stitching arrived broken and hanging on by a thread, though once reported to amazon I recieved a discount off of the total price after choosing to keep the bag rather than return it.
Bought this backpack from Amazon on April 2017, 11 months ago, with daily use to the office and back and I really wanted to give this feedback because I think it is deserved.
I have been daily carrying a 15.6 inch laptop plus several other things (tablet, documents, many personal items, ext hdd, usb cables etc.). I use it between home and office and on all my business air travel.
This backpack has stood exceptionally well with zero issues so far. Throughout the years I have used several laptop backpacks of many well known manufacturers even more than twice the price of the Targus, but quality wise and from functionality point of view I believe this Targus is on a different level. Storage capacity is top and compartment arrangement is simply the best I have seen so far (and I have owned a lot of backpacks). It is also very discreet, all black no fancy logos etc. so very good for professional use.
So far I had no issue at all and did not need to use the warranty, so I cannot comment on their customer service. That being said, I would look at no other manufacturer and would definitely buy this backpack again if needed.
I would surely recommend it, especially for professional use.
I was looking for such a fitness bag for a long time and finally, I found it. I go to university and my gym is located on the campus. It was very difficult to carry two bags before, but now I can put my laptop, A4 folders, pencil box and my gym stuff such as my t-shirt, short, towel, shaker and so on. Its straps are soft. The material used for the bag is quality. The only aspect which I do not like about the bag is that it takes up a little bit more space than other bags, but I find it normal because carrying one single bag is better than carrying two bags.
I love its laptop compartment. You can close the compartment when you put your laptop and accordingly you can protect your belongings about work. There is a little bag for dirty gym clothes after your workout, which is quite nice. The producers considered every single detail for those who work/study and work out at the gym.
The bag definitely deserves 5 stars and meets my expectations.
I got this to replace my last Targus that I carried around every day. This one is just as good.
It holds the laptop well-cushioned and close to your back. The way the laptop inset is constructed avoids knocking it against the floor when loading up. If you have never transported your laptop in a backpack like this, you will be surprised about how much lighter it will feel. (compared to a regular backpack or those carrier bags).
Good selection of places to store all your bits and bobs. It doesn’t make great use of the volume or allow you to extend it, but it is perfectly suitable for carrying around my everyday stuff and all my grocery shopping (which means you can fill it to the brim with heavy things).
The straps are adjustable. The padding on the back allows air to flow and keeps your back dry. It is fairly waterproof, especially on the bottom. I’ve taken it hiking, as a day-trip backpack.
Firstly I will start by saying, fantastic value for money!!! I bought this Laptop bag as a first year student earning a modest wage and I am very satisfied with my purchase. The bag has served me well daily, despite the fact that I carry around 10kg as a regular everyday carry as it must last me a full day at University and then at work. I have had no comfort issues with the bag, though I would recommend that you pack your laptop so that it lays flat against your back, to avoid odd bulges.
Pros: Plenty of storage space for an everyday study or work bag(I carry: 15.5″ Laptop/Charger, Ring Binder, Several A4 Wallets, 2/3 books, stationery, Phone Charger/other tech items, fleece, waterproof, water, deodorant, with space for more…); comfortable carry; there are enough compartments for easy organisation allowing for quick access to items; build quality is solid; professional, simple design.
Cons: Laptop protection comes in the form of a rather flimsy padded insert. When you remove the laptop, the contents of the bag sag down and this makes it harder to re-insert the laptop in a hurry (ie. getting on/off trains, moving between lectures); Side pouches are slightly too small to take a 500ml water bottle or vacuum flask, a combo I would carry if they were slightly larger; despite good stitching and resistance to wear and tear (I have been using the bag heavily for over a month with no apparent wear while heavily packed) the materials used do seem to look and feel a bit tacky, I would therefore not recommend the bag to a professional to whom image is important.
It took me ages to find a bag that I liked – I went through hundreds of reviews for loads of backpacks. It’s not easy finding a good product when there’s always someone that’s hated it, so you move to the next one and hours is wasted searching.
I needed a backpack for Uni to hold my MacBook Pro (2014) in a soft case. In this case, I also have my Wacom graphics tablet, pen and cable, so it makes it fairly thick. I also needed the backpack to have plenty of pockets for the laptop charger, xbox one controller, a battery back for charging my phone, external harddrive, other cables, books, pens, the Master MX wireless mouse and usb sticks. I also wanted it to be not too big and quite light, as the weight will build up with all that stuff being carried around each day.
I managed to filter my search EVENTUALLY down to 2 backpacks, so I gave up and bought both so I could see for myself. The other bag was the ‘Fubevod Laptop Backpack 15.6 Waterproof’, which was a damn good bag, with blinking loads of pockets, but I went with the Targus, because it was a little lighter, smaller and the pockets were easier to access. The laptop section of the Fubevod was behind the shoulder straps which made it a little annoying to easily access – would be more protected that way, but I don’t feel I need to worry about that. It was also classed as waterproof, which was another bonus, but this Targus scored more points in easy access, weight and size.
It’s not easy to choose products these days, especially if you read reviews and want to make sure you’re getting value for money and it’s going to do everything you want it too, so hopefully this review has helped at least 1 other.
One last point to make: I’ve had the bag for a couple of months now after owning my previous backpack for about 10 years, till the zips finally broke off, so I’m hoping this bag will last me a good number of years to come and so far the zips and material all seem well made and I’m still happy with it.
Another point to make! I don’t put my MBP in the laptop section with the velcro fastening, as it doesn’t fit in there, since I’m using a case too, so it goes in front of it and my laptop charger goes in there. My large wireless mouse goes in the small zipped pocket in the front section where it easily fits with usb sticks etc. There are 2 pockets at the bottom of the main front pocket for my Xbox one pad and battery pack. Books and cables go in the second compartment and the third compartment holds my laptop and charger. I put my earphones case in 1 of the side pockets and my wallet in the small outside front pocket. All done.
I had a similar but not exactly the same Targus backpack for years and I had to buy a new one because the old one worn out. This model is slightly different (seems “my” one is not sold in this area?) which I kind of suspected after looking at the pictures before ordering it. The backpack is ok but I don’t like the padded notebook compartment as it’s much thinner than the old one (less foam inside). Also inside the main compartment there’s only one internal pocket (instead of two), there’s no belt to secure the laptop (my old backpack had some sort of elastic band that was connected by velcro so you could undo it if not needed) and in the middle compartment there is no pocket for address card. Because I had comparison with the older version (which I liked a lot), I give this one only 4 stars and not 5.
Have to say it’s very nice laptop bag one of my best bags I owned fits perfectly my Lenovo 15.6 inches laptop, it’s nice and comfortable to carry, nice fabric as well the only reason I gave it 4 stars is it could have done with more space, if you fit the laptop in I’d say the max amount of books you can put is 2 and that’s pushing them in with a pit of force, so not the best bag if your going to .
This is a very good backpack. I have been using it for commuting to work and there are enough compartments for everything you would need. The laptop compartment is spacious and it can fit a laptop along with cables, adapters, tablets etc.
The front two compartments have lots of pockets for all the smaller bits and the middle compartment is also big enough for a lunchbox or anything else you may throw in.
The bottle pocket on the side is elastic and can hold larger bottles and the media pocket on the other side is great for mp3 players etc as it has an opening for the earphones to pass through.
Overall a very comfortable bag that is waterproof and not as bulky as you would think. Very comfortable to double strap but not as good if you prefer to single-strap.
I would highly recommend it.
This is such a great backpack! The reason I got this backpack, was because the one I had currently, was too small. It was for 15″ laptops, which is what I had, but I also had a protective sleeve on, so the laptop didn’t fit quite well. It also didn’t have a lot of storage for different stuff like books, and so on. – So if I had my laptop in the backpack, I could hardly fit anything else.
But now with this backpack, EVERYTHING fits perfect.
While using this backpack, I have both my 2 laptops, my tablet, mouse, headset, LOTS, and LOTS of books, waterbottle, penhouse, and even a small blanket, and countless of other items. – What is also amazing about this backpack, is that of course you will feel a little weight, if you have a lot of items, but even then, it will still feel very lightweight.
The weight is distributed very good, so your neck won’t start hurting, or like only the right side will hurt but not the left..! Also at first I thought the design on the outside was a bit weird, but after looking at the backpack a while, it actually looks very awesome and unique. The brand is also known for very good quality, and the price is very good, so you can’t really go bad on this one. If you need a backpack with lots of storage, and it has to be very comfy – this is it!
Summary: The bag contains an ample amount of pockets and areas with enough space for at least 2 large notepads or 1 laptop, stationary, water bottle and other items. The material is somewhat durable and hasn’t faded as of yet with the added bonus it’s been made Eco-friendly. The arm pads feel comfortable and ventilation on the bag helps to stop your back overheating. The straps are easy to adjust with a simple pull loop on each tab, this is great for on the move adjustment and can be done simply, I have on some occasions grabbed them by accident though. The zips are easy to grab and feel nice a durable.
Things to consider:
The backpack is rather large and isn’t very compressible due to the amount of storage compartments.
Some of the compartments have very limited room while others have a great amount of volume.
The zips and straps are of great quality.
The bag is Eco-friendly.
Water bottle holder (doesn’t contain a strap so can’t be adjusted).
Hardy material.
Not waterproof. (can be addressed with a cheap cover purchased from amazon which I keep in the side pocket).
Great value.
What needs to improve:
If the product will stay non-water proof (especially at the top zips). I’d like to see the inclusion of a rain cover or at minimal a zip cover.
Some tiny holes at the bottom to allow the water/crumbs to empty.
I was not sure whether paying extra was worth it after carefully sought what the market offered. But since the bag arrived I am quite confident it was the best choice I could have made. My former Targus lasted for 7 years and after all that time the only problem I had was a shoulder strap became unstitched recently. During that time I used the bag every other day and travelled a lot with it with no problems. This pushed me to replace it and buy this bag.
There is no worries about volume or space. It is huge and you can easily put a laptop, accessories, books, documents,… I packed mine weighting 10kg but I did not feel carrying that load. In the laptop part, there are a few extra things that will help you keep your treasure safe from hits, protecting it and cushioning every time you leave the bag on the ground. Also the bottom part is protected with leather extra lay and slightly cushion material too. Besides, I like the small elastic strip that reinforces shoulder straps from becoming unstitched. Hopefully it could last for another 7 years or longer and I could bring in as cabin luggage in aircrafts too as I did with the former.
I bought this backpack to carry my laptop and books to and around university and can say I am very impressed with it.
The bag is mainly a non-reflective black colour with green accents and subtle branding. This helps to give the bag some character without drawing too much attention to itself. Whilst the green coloured interior adds to the aesthetics, I find the biggest benefit of this is that it makes objects easier to find than if it were to be black like in some backpacks, especially towards the bottom of the bag. Off the bat, in general, the materials used seemed to be of very good quality and durability and I will be noticing if anything changes with regards to this.
My 13″ MacBook Air which I keep in a felt cover for further protection fits snug inside the laptop pouch and doesn’t shuffle about when on the move. This compartment in particular is quite padded, and I wouldn’t hesitate to put by laptop inside as it is had I not already owned the felt cover. There is also room for an A4 sized notepad or two in this section which is always very handy.
The other sections vary greatly in size and layout. I feel this helps me remember where I put what. There is a degree of flexibility in the sense that the many of the compartments are quite generic but their sizes are far from arbitrary which made deciding where to put what very straightforward.
Finally, the bag is super comfortable. I’d carry it around campus for hours on end and never had any problems. There is more than enough padding on the bag itself as well as the straps.
Overall, I can’t seem to find anything significant that I would change about the bag and so I have nothing else to say other than that I highly recommend it.
I bought this for my 15.6″ gaming laptop. I bought the bigger bag as I also have a Coolermaster Notepal U3 cooler and I wanted to transport both of them together in the same bag. Smaller laptop bags did not have the space that I needed to transport both, so that is why I bought a 17-18″bag.
There is plenty of room to take both the laptop and cooler, as well as plenty of other space for books, chargers, etc. All the interior sections are very well padded and well constructed. There are a lot of pockets and there are also two small internal pockets that fit my Samsung S5 as well, so putting everything into this bag while travelling was really easy.
My biggest problem with this is that the carry straps that go over your shoulders are a bit thin, and after about an hour of wearing it (even with just a laptop inside), it becomes a bit uncomfortable, hence 4 stars.
This backpack is delivering exactly what it is promising: It it can take a heavy load without problem. I carry my 15.6 laptop (weights around 2,5kg) and usually 2-3 (usually heavier than average) books, along with all my personal stuff (keys, smartphone, wallet etc) which should add about another 1-2 kgs in total. Has enough space and many compartments which is very good when you want to divide your stuff evently in order, in order to balance the weight. It is very well made of and until now (I bought it December of 2015) I haven’t come up to any serious problems.
I gave it a 4-star rating and not 5 stars just for one reason: It is important when you carry a laptop to be able to attach a lock on that compartment’s zipper. Can’t do it here because the zipper used here is not designed for that.
Apart from that the backpack is excellent. Great value for its price.
First, i like to say thanks to every for their reviews, this was what convinced me. I bought a Wenger bag close to 50 pounds about a year ago, and from the first day i knew i bought the wrong bag. Received this product as expected and I must say im totally impressed by the quality for that price, if not for the reviews i might have thought the bag will come with some comprise for the price, but none. You know that feeling you get when you get a good product surpassing all your expectations while also coming at a good price, thats just how i feel, maybe the best thing i bought this year. This bag is so nice i feel it deserves a new laptop to go with it lollll.
This was one of the best buys I’ve done in Amazon! I’ve always been a fan of Targus, my other laptop shoulder bag is Targus too, but this one excels! The padding makes it very comfortable to wear and the included sleeve shields the laptop pretty well! It also has a ton of extra space for other things! There’s a pocket on the main compartment for documents, two side compartments for small things (I like to use one for snacks and the other for my sunglasses), a pocket for a bottle of water (although it doesn’t work that well if you have something in the compartment), a small compartment at the back for more small things and finally a compartment with some pockets for important stuff, some pen holders, etc.
The material seems to be of high quality and water resistant! It’s also perfect for small business trips because you can put the laptop and cables in the main compartment along with a change of clothes or two. Then you can keep chargers, earbuds, keys, etc in the small pocket, snacks and water on the side pockets. And finally you can put some important documents in the pockets inside the medium compartment, along with a book to read on the trip!
UPDATE – 4 Years on
This bag really is amazing, after 4 years of heavy use, it’s only showing the lightest of wear. Everything still works perfectly. This has been round the world a few times, has traveled over 120,000 miles bouncing round in my van, spends hours a week on my back either walking or cycling and spends has spent at least a year in the past 4 years outside dealing with sun, rain, dust.
Looks like I’ll be leaving this in my will!
I now need a another laptop bag for another laptop, as far as i’m concerned I will only consider Targus.
Original review
One of my best purchases, it’s unassuming, reliable and quality. Mine takes a pounding, be it sitting on wet grass, flying around on my back whilst cycling off road or flying around the back of my van.
All the time protecting my laptop and software from the elements and without drawing attention to itself.
Storage wise there’s plenty of compartments.
This is THE best bag I’ve ever owned. I bought this for my third year as an Undergraduate student. I had to commute for an hour each way, every day to get to University, as well as then get to work afterwards. This thing is still going strong with only minor wear and tear on the shoulder straps which takes the form of rubbing wear and some slight misshaping from the weight they support – nothing major really.
A summary of main features:
* The bottle holder easily holds a 30cm circumference bottle.
* The laptop holder easily takes my 15inch macbook pro with a thick laptop case.
* The multitude of pockets have a lovely lining which fills me with confidence in wet and windy weather, as well as being able to withstand light impact from hustle and bustle of a commute.
* Shoulder strap adjustment is very easy and the back padding fits my back perfectly.
* Third pocket from the front gets most use (stores laptop charger, books, deodorant, and occasionally some food) and shows no signs of wear at all.
* With the laptop in, the main compartment (fourth from the front) has little room for much else but can easily fit in an A4 pad of paper or a folded waterproof top.
* The outer material feels similar to the synthetic motorbike gear such as gortex or other similar stuff – rugged and tough but light.
Some reviews state that the bag doesn’t feel like it could take much of an impact on the bottom, and I would have to agree but I ALWAYS put my laptop in a nice thick case anyway so it’s not a big deal. The bag does tend to want to fall forward when placed on the floor, which is a mild inconvenience at worst.
Just to put it in perspective, I’ve had this bag a while and it still feels and looks as good as when it was first purchased. The first bag I used for Uni was severely beaten and almost useless after the first year – it was a hiking backpack!
Very high quality for the price, I thought. Keeps the laptop very secure, and will fit a 15.6″ device of any thickness. I put mine in a sleeve as well just for extra protection and it still (just about) fits in the laptop sleeve within the bag.
As far as extra storage goes, there’s a fair bit. There’s a net pocket on the outside perfect for carrying water-bottles; the front pockets are good for stationary and small items you might need fast access to; and the back two compartments are good for THIN books alongside the laptop. This is the only reason I gave 4 rather than 5 stars: I feel like there is slightly less extra storage space than I was expecting as all of the compartments are quite slim.
I would, however, buy this again in a heartbeat. It’s just a quality bag for a very good price.
This is a large backpack for large laptops or notebooks. It is quite wide and taller than many similar backpacks. Having said that it is not so wide that it looks silly. It is however not very deep. Compared with many Swiss bags this is pretty slim and that accounts for its relatively modest 20 litre capacity. My everyday laptop is somewhat lost in the special compartment and you might only think about this for larger 17″ or 18″ machines. That would be a mistake. Because this bag is shallow it keeps the weight near your back- which is optimum. It has a hip belt and a chest strap which make for much easier carrying of heavy loads. Laden with an identical load to my old Swiss model this one seems half the burden for example. On the other hand many people will not bother with the hip belt and in which case it does just become a liability. You are best taking some effort making sure it is out of the way (like clip it together on its shortest adjustment) or it will get stuck and especially in car doors.
If you don’t use the belt but do use the chest strap then the bag is still really comfortable. So don’t not buy just because you don’t need the belt. The built-in rain cover is easy to put on and works well. I hope it’s mounting system will prove robust. There are quite a few pockets but less than the Swiss. I have never used all of them anyway. There are no mesh pockets for bottles but as long as they are the smaller size then they fit in the side pockets (with the pocket left partly open) anyway. Probably the last point to make is that this does not stand up on its own. I am OK with that because I like it being slim and back-hugging because it makes for a so much better load carrier. The colour is uninspiring but at least the rain cover is sober (not bright orange or something).
Don’t but…
if you want lots and lots of pockets
if you are of very slim build and self-conscious
if you carry things that are football-sized (wide, tall and deep at the same time)
Do buy…
if you want to minimise the strain on your back
if you don’t mind it being a bit wider and taller than most
if you need a rain cover
if you want to carry a larger laptop
The label which came with the rucksack says it is 27 litres and compatible with a 15.6″ laptop. I am a five foot tall, small lady and was worried any bags may be far too big.but this one isn’t. It feels nice to wear. I commute into London by rail, I travel all over the city during my working day via tube and bus, I hot desk in many offices so carry documents, books, an iPad and a 15inch laptop and various wires for computers and phones, a packed lunch, two phones, travel cards, many bunches of keys, things ladies carry, and an iPod. I ride to the station on a motorbike and a rucksack seemed the perfect solution. Originally I used a massive handbag but soon suffered from a bad back as the bags grew bigger and heavier. Also handbags are hopeless when you are jogging along for a train and they swing to the front of your body which is annoying.
This rucksack arrived in the post today and I’ve put my stuff into it. Marvellous. It has thee main pockets, all zipped. The largest is the pocket nearest your back. This is for computers and has a soft pocket protector. Plenty of room for two or three laptops and the necessary mains wires. The second is also quite large with a net type pocket inside, then the third zipped pocket has two net pockets inside, one zipped and two other pockets at the bottom which are open. There is also a small pocket for travel cards.
On the front of the bag is a smaller zipped pocket which I’ve put my office swipe pass, travel cards and things I need to-hand quickly while on the move.
On each side of the rucksack on the outside is a pocket. One is a net pocket for a water bottle, the other a zipped pocket with another net pocket inside that.
There is plenty of well thought out space to compartmentalise the items carried. I was fed up with rummaging through a previous rucksack I had for items, spilling the contents onto platforms or train floors.
On one of the straps there is a clever piece of plastic on which you can coil your headphone/phone wire.
The two straps also incorporate a top handle, which I will use when getting on the tube so I can lower the bag onto the floor, when travelling in busy tube carriages.
The material is substantial and feels and looks good quality. There is padding on the back of the backpack which sits next to your back as there’s nothing more annoying than feeling a plug sticking into your back when you leave the office and realised you haven’t packed your rucksack very well and are in a hurry.
For the price, this seems like a bargain and well thought out. I haven’t used it yet, so cannot comment on the experience of using it or the durability, but these are my initial comments on the purchase.
If it’s a disaster, I will return and comment, if you don’t hear from me, I’m as happy as Larry.
It’s a great bag, plenty of pockets. My husband uses one for work and I needed one too, although will have to be careful not to pick his bag up. Very comfy to wear on your back especially if you use both shoulder straps. Only disappointment is that my bag doesn’t have the headphone hole, although the photos indicate it does have one. Amazon need to remove the picture or put a disclaimer in the description. The security fastener to keep your laptop safe isn’t obvious, I thought it might be a strap inside, but I believe it’s the two external straps on the outside which you tighten up.
Overall, a good bag, good value.
This bag is simply perfect.
First of all this bag is thee most comfortable bag I have ever worn. It had 3 pads of large cushyness goodness at the back of it which mold on to your back as you put it on. Then the ease of use… on each strap there is a cord which tightens to your liking. So you can now tighten your bag while you are wearing it. Lush.
Now, the most of important point of all. The bag is has an enormous amount of room in it. It’s amazing. Its like bagception. There are pockets within pockets, within it pockets. The bag just holds everything. For the first time ever I can now carry my whole workstation in my bag. Heres what I carry in it:
15.6 Dell Inspiron 7000 series
13 inch Macbook Pro
iPad Air
Beats Solo 2
Tons of books and paper work
Deodorant and nice smelling spray
Shoe cleaner
Lint remover
2 XBOX ONE controllers with their respective wires
Pencil case
Business cards
And guess what… I think there is more.
The color scheme for the bag, black and green works quite well giving it a professional look. The quality is second to none and feels like it will protect my products.
If you’re looking for perfection in a bag, this is it.
Outstandingly made back-pack. I got the EcoSpruce as I am just about to begin a road-warrior assignment (commuting M-F, back on weekends). This back-pack comfortably takes TWO standard sized laptops (< 15"). It also fits their cords, accessories, stacks of papers (2" thick) or books, all kinds of smaller items -- notebooks, gloves, mittens, scarf. And it has convenient pockets for everything else --- keys, phone, music player, map, water bottle. Absolutely brilliant. The weight hefts nicely on pretty strong straps. Feels snug when wearing both, and secure even when slinging just one over the shoulder. An excellent pack that is performing very well even though I'm pushing it to the max with the amount that I'm hauling every day. (Love the padded sleeve for the laptop)
This bag is comfortable to carry, fits a laptop nicely and I like the padded insert. However, there is one major gripe which is the internal pocket in the main compartment. It hangs open and means I often drop things in it or can’t find what I need. If this had a zip of velcro this bag would be 5 star but as it is I have to give it 4.
Tip: If the pocket annoys you, cut it out with scissors as stick on velcro or double sided tape won’t work – it is a superfluous pocke
Fantastic bag so far!
I own an incredibly thick 17″ Laptop (an Alienware m17x R4 for those it may concern) which still manages to fit in this bag. I would say that this is the absolute limit of what this bag can hold, but it fits this size without too much hassle. For those with 17″ laptops: it’s the length that could potentially be the problem, but it’s definitely worth seeing if your laptop fits. Larger bags for larger laptops are both annoyingly massive with a matching massive price. I’m very very happy I’ve found a reasonably priced bag that can hold my “movable desktop”.
Even with a massive laptop, there is still plenty of space in the bag for putting other stuff. It’s fine for me to chuck some papers and pens in my bag, and maybe even put a book in the middle zip pocket (if your laptop charger isn’t also massive). If you do have your own thinner laptop sleeve, you could replace the thick padded one that comes with the bag if you’re after more space.
I have yet to test how waterproof the bag is. The fabric feels comparable to the outer layer of a modern tent, so it will provide at least some water resistance.
The only thing I would mark this bag down for is that the one I received was not quite as the pictures show. Mine did not have a headphone hole in the front pocket, and the laptop sleeve has a velcro flap over the top rather than being open. There’s nothing to really put you off buying the bag unless you really really did want either of those two features shown.
I am a Director wanting a corporate style rucksack to commute in, and also when visiting suppliers, customers etc.
I also wanted something that I could put a shirt and overnight kit in for the odd overnight stay.
I prefer a rucksack due to a bit of a bad back.
I love this bag because:
– it looks about as corporate as a rucksack (at 50) could
– it is not too bulky like some of the rucksacks more relevant for leisure walking
– the quality is good, e.g. it has a rubberised bottom which means it can stand up neatly by itself instead of flopping about
– it fits a laptop, charger, and basic overnight kit
Highly recommend. This is the third rucksack I’ve used and the only one I would buy again for this purpose.
I have had this bag over three years, so I’m very well positioned to give a clear review on it. It may sound stupid, but I rate this bag as one of the best things I have bought in the last few years – equally as valuable as my laptop.
Originally I bought it for a 17″ Dell … the bag has outlasted the laptop, which was replaced midway through last year. It fits comfortably and along with the laptop I regularly carry a small digital camera, my ipad, a few peripherals and some every day things like a can of pop or a snack bar.
Without a bag like this my laptop would be useless, I may as well have bought a laptop, but this bag has meant that I can take my laptop everywhere – and I mean everywhere – I use it every day and it has travelled the world with me over the last three years.
Very, very occasionally, I use it as a suitcase because it is big enough for a few items of clothing, a spare pair of shoes, and the essentials.
Having read the reviews stating some wear and tear issues I can only say that they must have got a rare dud. I have used Targus products before and they have always been of the highest quality. My bag is no exception. It has been dragged all over, battered and bruised and treated with absolutely no respect (it is a bag after all) and nothing is broken on it. It doesn’t look dishevelled. I have spilt goodness knows what on it on many occasions, had things burst in it, dropped it in puddles, had it with me through awful weather and I have yet to have a complaint.
It is really difficult to find a rucksack bag for a 17″ laptop, but out of all the ones I have seen you can either get this model of Targus, a more expensive model of Targus bag, or something for 20 that you would probably be hesitant putting your shopping in. It’s a no-brainer really.
To me, the maximum any bag should cost, no matter how good it is, is 50. This bag falls below that price and if you break down how much convenience it has given me this bag is well worth it. It might even outlast me.
If you have a 17″ laptop that you plan on taking everywhere with you, then you must buy one of these.
After spending a couple of months researching and looking for a bag to carry to work I came across this Targus EcoSpruce. My requirements were a plain black bag that wasn’t too bulky (looked fairly slim when carried) had a padded laptop section and also enough room to carry my gym clothes and trainers. This fits the bill perfectly.
The bag is constructed very nicely and has many useful compartments, something that I didn’t think I needed!
The bag is very comfortable due to well designed straps and lots of padded on the back of the bag, along with channels to let airflow in so as to limit sweating. One of the most useful design ideas is the little loops on the end which enable you to quickly and easily make the straps longer so as to get it off of your back quickly. This is extremely useful on the rush hour commute!
Overall I am very pleased with the bag and think for the money it is good value.
I was in the market for new laptop bag with a purchase of a new Macbook pro 15inch. I wanted something discreet which would double as a workbag if needs be with plenty of space for other gadgets. It had to be robust enough that it could handle daily abuse, within moderation, and still look good and protect my investment.
I have used the bag for the past couple of weeks and it has been great. It has so many compartments that it suits my needs for both space for work kit and gadgets.
Its also discreet enough that it doesn’t quite look like a laptop bag.
The main compartment for the laptop is awesome. Its well padded. Its secure.
To be honest it does everything I wanted, can’t say any better than that. If your in the market for a laptop rucksack then don’t bother looking at the competition. I can’t imagine you could find anything better for 30
By th by, I looked at the thule bag, but this appears better thought out and miles cheaper. Just my opinion.
I bought this bag because I needed a new one for work.
I knew that Targus were supposed to be a good make, so thought I’d look at those first. From the outside, it just looks like a standard backpack which is what I wanted. It’s black with a bit of dark green round the edges. When you open the bag though, it’s got pockets for everything! I can fit my laptop, iPad, power cord, a reading book, my dinner, keys and lots of other little bits and bobs I need throughout the day. Great for professionals.
I was a bit hesitant to spend so much on a backpack, but I’m glad I did, because it looks like it’ll last quite a while. Incredibly comfy shoulder straps too. Love it! Thanks!
I needed a bag to travel to and from university and also it needed to carry my laptop as well. This bag is perfect, honestly. It’s not too bulky considering how much you can fit in it. I use the shallow pocket at the front for keys/headphones. The second pocket is big enough for pens, deodorant, laptop wires, usb sticks, a pencil case. It also has a handy netted pocket inside (this is what hold my usb sticks). The middle pocket holds my A4 folder and (currently) two A4 work books – this pocket also has a handy netted section in which I keep an A5 sized diary; don’t misunderstand, this isn’t all this pocket will hold, there’s space for at least a few more books and also a folded jacket as well! The back pocket has the laptop sleeve, which is well padded on both sides and the bottom. There’s also space in this back pocket for more books or other such items. Overall, the build quality is to a very high standard (as I expect from Targus) – The interior is a sort of camo green colour (not that this matters to me but some people may not like this). The straps and back of the bag are well padded and very comfortable to wear – and for me even a heavy load feels okay to lift as the bag spreads the weight (I don’t know if this is intentional or not, it might just be me!) I thought the handle was in a bit of a weird place (it connects the two bag straps rather than sitting on the top of the bag) and I thought that its positioning would be uncomfortable, but so far it hasn’t bothered me at all! There are probably other things I haven’t mentioned, but overall I’m very happy with this bag and I’m sure it will last me my full 3 years at university and much longer! Definitely worth the money
I have gone through many, many backpacks in my life. I’m very hard to please. My last one was bought together with my MacBook Pro at the Apple Store, and it fit its purpose nicely, but wasn’t very big. I gave this one a go since it seemed to be bigger and have more pockets. I couldn’t have been more pleased with it. There are several pockets in all sizes, and subdivisions inside some of them, including a small side pocket for your music device with an opening for your headphones. Also, there is an external bottle slot, which is good as I’m always carrying one, and it doesn’t take any space inside the pockets. There is good back support and plenty of back pads. The only downside to it I would say is the handle (it is not very comfortable to hold, specially when the bag is heavy). But this detail does not affect my liking of the product.
It is made of recycled PET bottles, which is another good feature. I haven’t yet given it a try in the rain, but I don’t think it is completely waterproof. I might update this review in the future with this information.
I really like this rucksack for many reasons:
* It is relatively light and feels very comfortable on my back, event with 2 laptops, a tablet and other stuff. The rucksack seems to help distribute the weight well.
* It looks good. The black outer shell is tasteful and simple with a few touches of green to match the interior colour.
* Its made from recycled material and has been assembled with a high degree of quality.
* 4 different compartments means its great for organising stuff.
– The back compartment is designed to hold 1 laptop completely padded. This section has room to hold two laptops, although you will want to add a little extra padding at the bottom of the rucksack for the second one, or add a padded sleeve if you want to be sure.
– The middle compartment is great for holding a lot of paperwork, books or clothes. There is a large mesh pocket to separate cables, socks or toiletries.
– The front section is more of an organiser section. There is room for business cards, pens and other small items.
– The very front section is just a pocket, useful for things you want to get at quickly.
Things that I didnt like so much:
* There is only one side holder on the back that can hold a bottle of water, however it is expandable and should hold very large bottles so its not the problem I first thought. The pocket on the other side is useful however for holding a music player and there is a slot to pass through a cable for headphones and still keep the pocket zipped up.
Overall there is a good amount of space and the bag is of good quality. It is a great bag for a developer or student on the go. It would be good for a trip away for a few days or a long weekend.
Thank you.
When I started working about 6 miles from home I made the commitment to bike to work but I needed to transport a laptop, lunch and other bits to and from the office. My usual running/biking pack was the wrong shape for the laptop and other rucksacks I had didn’t afford any back protection against the laptop case.
After looking around loads of different backpacks I decided to go for this one mainly because:
– I needed storage for other stuff in addition to the laptop
– I needed something that I could use when I wasn’t on the bike i.e for train / plane commuting
– It needed to fit the laptop snugly as I tend to travel off-road wherever possible
– It needed to be durable due to the same off-road tendencies and was going to last
This pack ticked all of the boxes. I’m really pleased with the size and number of useful pockets which means I can store everything I need with easy access. There’s the main pocket with padded laptop slot which takes my laptop and day book, a second large section which I use for lunch and change of clothes and you’ve still got the 3rd pocket for valuables, phones, cables etc. I’ve also taken it on a plane for a European commute and it fits inside the hand luggage dimensions easily. I’ve been using it daily for 3 months now and it still looks as smart as the day it arrived with no stretching or sagging of the material and the stitching is all still pristine.
The only thing I would suggest to improve it would be the addition of waist and chest clips to ensure it doesn’t bounce around too much when going over bumps but this would make it less smart for more sedate commutes than mountain biking to work!
The space and compartments are well thought out and has considerably more space appears.
I bought this bag about 4 years ago and used it as my main work/commuter bag near enough every day.
It has been heavily used and abused that time, being thrown around, regulary used when cycling to work, carrying more laptops than it was meant to and even on one occasion carrying a actual desktop PC base unit!
It’s showing its age now (or amount of abuse) as the stitching has split and frayed at the top where zip is – so I’m buying another one.
Only downside? It seems everyone has one. As I’ve seen more people on the tube with this bag than any other,I probably see at least 10 people a day with it!
Best bag I’ve ever had… and I’ve had a few Targus bags in my time.
I love this bag a lot, especially because it is relatively cheap for what it offers. Very sturdy and well-made materials hold everything well in place and feel strong and rugged to the touch. There are innumerable pouches in all three major compartments, to fit anything you could imagine other than your laptop, from pens, business cards, to keys, cigarettes and anything really. The main laptop pouch is very well-padded and spacious for my 15.6-inch laptop and also allows for stand-alone removal, which is a nice touch.
Only gripes I have: the big interior pouch opposite where the laptop pouch is located is a bit flabby and big, it interferes when putting objects into the main compartment; a small velcro seal would have been essential. Also, the main back-straps don’t remain in place very easily, as I need to readjust their tightness almost every time I put the backpack on again.
Overall, I fully recommend this bag as I can’t (at this time of writing) find a better price/value ratio for a 15-16 inch laptop backpack on amazon.co.uk.
I bought this bag because I have had 3 other which couldn’t cut the mark. I will be using this bag for college, the laptop case easily holds my 15.6inch laptop. Which then sits in the bag held by a strap to the back. The inside of the main compartment has two inserts for books. I fell there is a nice bit of room for the cases size. My laptop charger fits in the front most compartment leaving my the middle compartment and the two sides for whatever. The bottom of the bag is stiff ridged plastic, so it wont soak up moisture and will protect the contents. The bag comes with a mobile phone holder on the strap, which is easily detachable(thank god). Im summary I am very happy with this well made bag. I will update in several months after I have used it every day.
When my ANTLER wore out the limitations of its successor, the EXECUTEC, gave rise to an epic journey passing through SAMSONITE, BRIGGS & RILEY, JANSPORT, NIKE, NORTH FACE and more before settling for TARGUS. Why?
“Airline-proof” armoured fabrics.
1 Horizontal zip pocket.
1 vertical zip pocket.
Left/Right webbed padded side zip pockets for power supply unit and (only just) 500ml bottle.
VERY thick armoured (faux alcantara) seat material.
Two adjustable straps attached to the seat support weight and retain the shape by tying down interior content of the bag in use and when free standing.
Zip compartment located in the seat that includes the attached rain cover for the whole backpack.
Side support straps to retain the bag shape.
Elasticated, webbed, chest-bracing straps to secure the bag around your body.
The main shoulder straps are very thick, look strong and like they are anchored securely.
Twin loops for g-hooking small items.
Telephone pocket, g-hooked to the shoulder straps. Cunningly shaped to fit YOUR iPhone, but not MY Blackberry (least not including the sleeve anyway).
Integral locking waist belt to tie the pack around you, or by reversing its direction – could be used to secure something else to the back – occasionally.
….and then I opened it….. And found:-
Main double zip pocket large enough to accommodate most laptops, holds an 11.6inch unit both landscape or portrait comfortably.
1 business card window.
3 elastic pen loops – two sized for writing pens, one for a whiteboard marker.
1 zipped web slot pocket.
Velcro pocket – desktop calculator sized.
Velcro pocket – large phone (including my Blackberry sleeve) sized.
2 thick, fixed dividers give three sections large enough to organise A4 documents, strong enough to locate 11.9 laptop (held portrait).
Main compartment fits a 17 inch laptop comfortably, with an integral sleeve with 5mm thick padded foam sleeve and still leaves enough room for both an office suit jacket and an A4 sized folio (think A4 FILOFAX, plus handles and you’re there).
Weighing 1.48kg the whole show lands softly on your back courtesy of two shoulder webbed cushions with 10mm of foam padding and a cushion with 20mm padding for your lower back.
When you are done, it is solidly built to completely retain shape – regardless of content – standing proudly upright.
Criticisms? Only Two.
The narrow phone carrier. In the smartphone era this is a little short-sighted.
The specification is so long, you raise expectations way above any level you have a right to (note my phone gripes) or you start looking for places for stuff you really shouldn’t be carrying in the first place – at least I did.
And finally, while (unjustifiably) giving second thoughts to my purchase, I looked across at the bag used (and abused) for 8 solid years prior to the ANTLER that survived just 9 months. I examined every seal, seat, zip pocket, Velcro and corner. All of them remained intact with only a single crack in the leather handle as testimony to thousands of miles porting far more weight than the manufacturer recommends. The name on the front – TARGUS.
In my opinion other brands may protect my image, but none protect my equipment as well as this.
I rest my “case.”
Bought this to carry my laptop on holiday (I know sad isn’t it) but we had arranged all the hotels ourselves on the internet and wanted to be able to make changes if required. We did look at these bags in PC World first and discovered that there are 2 sizes of the same product so be careful you order and get the 15.4 to 16 inch model if that is what you need. Having lugged it round for the best part of a month I am well pleased with it as a rucksack and laptop carrier. The only complaint I have is that the main compartment does not have as much space as I would like when the laptop and pouch are in. I struggled to get my camera in there as well.
The tiny picture of this rucksack does not tell you anything. The bag has a large main compartment with a zip close to the back of the bag, where the detachable case sits, I say detachable, it doesn’t really attach to anything. It just sort of sits in there with an elasticated velcro strap from the back of the bag going across it. Despite this lack of attachment, it is quite secure, as the case is almost exactly the size of the compartment (perhaps even a little bigger). The case is approximately 15″ x 12″ x 1.5″, very well padded (too much and too big for my 13″ laptop) with a velcro flap. There is ample space in the rest of the large compartment for lunch, water bottle etc, and there are pockets in the front of the compartment for sheets of paper, though because they are on the front they have a tendancy to gape open when I’m trying to pack the bag. There are 2 side pockets on the outside of the large compartment which are a bit of a funny shape, though just big enough for a mouse or power cable, if a little exposed. There is another compartment on the front of the bag, smaller, but still quite spacious. Also with many internal pockets, though less gapey. This is the zip you can see in the picture. Finally there is a third compartment for all your small precious items, which is still quite spacious on the very front of the bag, it flaps open a bit like the mouth of Beaker from the Muppets. Being on the very front, it’s not too secure in large crowds, but the many internal pockets in the other compartments would be ok for storage of wallet etc. Overall, the bag is large and roomy, I’ve found it to be plenty waterproof and very sturdy, and quite comfortable. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and it’s still quite stiff, but is slowly softening up a bit.
Its a good value for money – for the fact that a similar bag cost’s around 44 in currys
pros:
1> economical
2> spacious – front pocket is useful
3> flexible laptop sleeve is quite handy – stay firm inside
cons:
1> zip is a bit of a problem somtimes – gets stuck in the cover – not that major
2> material looks a bit plasticy – i would say this is the reason why images are missing – also on click you cannot zoom-out/in to have a better look. Smart business tactics
3> padding feels a little less – protection is not that bad i would say around 3 to 4 percent less
Product is satisfactory – xcellent value for money. Would recommend
Really impressed. I use it for work. Don’t understand the review below about the case not being waterproof. I haven’t had any water leaking into the bag but then I haven’t been on a 40 mil hike with the bag and never intend to.
Love the mobile pocket on the strap. Best bit.
The 2 little pockets on the side are useful and the frount pocket has loops for 3 pens, pocket for business cards and pocket for other bits and bobs.
Could do with maybe another compartment to seperate the laptop and documents/papers in the main back compartment and it would have got the full 5 stars.
The laptop compartment is a seperate case that you can take out of the bag.
Overall it is the smartest laptop rucksack I have seen compared to any of the shops where the bags look scruffy and cheap. Really love it.
