It’s fantastic. I’ve had quite a few TCL smart tvs but this QLED is brilliant. Super easy to assemble and easy set up. Access to everything I want to watch. Alexa is great too. Recommend all day long
Almost the most budget choice. It works well and the delivery is on time.
It would be perfect for me if it could run on the Google TV platform instead of Android TV, which lacks new version updates. Anyway, but it is acceptable in view of the price.
Bought the 43″ as a second TV for my “games” room. It is linked up to various consoles (all the Nintendo, Xbox and playstation consoles). It’s great… I mean it won’t be as good as a TV worth 1000, maybe. But, for 350… It’s fantastic. Colours are good features are great and even the sound is reasonable.
Great picture quality, surprisingly good sound too. We have ours attached to an HTPC, so had absolutely no use for any of the Smart features. Thankfully you can set the TV to boot straight to a specific input, and from standby, it wakes in under 3 seconds. Even when input is lost it just shows a warning screen and doesn’t load up the entire slow Android menu.
Nice to see a Smart TV that actually lets you get all that out of the way, and just use it as a regular display again.
Best TV I’ve ever had build quality far greater than the brand would suggest.
Very happy with this tv, and for the price it’s a great buy. Good picture good sound.
The Google interface makes it awesome for movies. The picture and sound quality though is a little lower than the c715 model I still own, which was unexpected.
I purchased the 43″ model of this TV and can say it is one of the cheapest QLED televisions on the market. Despite volatile pricing, I paid 299 in March 2023, making it an excellent value for the price. The picture quality is very sharp, and the sound is decent. However, the remote controller feels cheap and is the only weak point of the TV. The cheapest equivalent TV is a Samsung, but it does not come with Android TV. Overall, I highly recommend this TV for its great value and good picture quality.
Highly recommend, fantastic tv, great picture and sound, easy to navigate and choice of two remote controls if you don’t need all of the functions. 10/10
It’s taken me ages to actually decide on a tv. I decided I couldn’t really justify the 1600 Sony were asking for a 65″ set no matter how shiny, skinny and black it’s blacks were! At a third of the price came the TCL. It’s not
The same set obviously, but it’s colours are vivid, it’s sound is pretty good- I’m no tv aficionado but I can hear what the kids are watching in rich bass from the other side of the house so it just be fairly loud, oh and it’s blacks are rich and dark too.
We had a little trouble setting up BBC iPlayer but we turned it off and pulled the plug, had a brew and it’d sorted it’s self.
It’s a great TV, the eeriness of seeing things in very definition is still a bit strange for me but I’m sure I’ll get used to it 🙂
If you’ve got the spare cash then go get one of the big names, this however has just saved you over 1000 and by golly it’s good.
My kids have stated that’s we now look rich and modern! -TCL, you an use that as a strap line if you want!
A very nice tv with a couple of minor niggles such as when setting up, i set region to uk but when screen saver came on it was displaying the wrong time so had to go into dste/time settings and found it was set to wrong time zone, but now sorted all is good
No issues with user interface as some reviewers have stated, but another commonly stated issue is that it did keep dropping the network connection
Fortunately I had an ethernet cable so now hard wired
Picture quality with dolby vision is amazing and it’s fantastic for gaming on my ps5 and series x
Tv is paired with a Majority Siera 2.1.1 soundbar and the sound is fantastic
Finally, I will just say, spend some time with experimenting with all the VARIOUS picture settings
Love i
It was time for me to upgrade a 5 year old LG TV, as it didn’t support Dolby Atmos natively and started to feel quite slow as well (blame the companies for not providing feature/firmware updates for older TV’s). QLED is the next big thing in panel technology, if you don’t wanna spend hundreds more for an OLED, this is a nice alternative beside Samsung QLED’s (although for much less)
Design – the bezels are so much thinner than my older LG TV, it looks really sleek and modern. Small TCL logo in the center, small Onkyo logo in the right hand side. Subtle, simple design, not a fan of the brushed silver look on the chin, prefer matte black so it can blend with anything. The remote is my least favorite thing. This is probably the thinnest and longest remote in human history. It’s beyond me who thought this is what people want in their hands, it’s a prime example of bad use of space and features. It has a single shortcut button for Netflix – that’s it. No Prime, no Disney+, no Youtube. At least the buttons feel tactile and has a soft touch feel, doesn’t feel like a flimsy piece of plastic.
Wifi – had zero issues connecting to the internet, first I tried by wire as I had issues with the wifi on my LG prior. I was surprised how fast this TV is on Wifi, I almost got the full speed out of my Virgin fibre internet, one less cable for me, now my TV is wifi only.
Packaging – came fairly well packaged, but I can see why so many people received the item broken, it’s not really delivery proof. There was some nasty tape applied around the edges of the tv, it’s been difficult to remove, left a sticky residue, had to carefully clean with a microfibe cloth. TCL has something to learn from major manufacturers, this is not how you should present your product for the first time buyers.
Features – this is my first encounter with the Android TV OS, nothing terribly wrong, or great about it. It has all the features I need, and feels fast enough, with some occasional lag (this can be down to the TV’s cheap quad core CPU), it’s more than usable for an average person, can be customized and it has a decent app store. Dolby Atmos/eARC was one of the main selling features for me, 3x HDMI 2.1 ports is a nice bonus, although the panel is 60hz only, but at this pricepoint, not a dealbreaker. It has all the ports a modern TV should have, no complaints. The menu is quite simple, some features are hidden so worth the time exploring every option as it can greatly improve the picture quality, I recommend turning off/down any motion smoothing, sharpening, noise reduction.
Sound – the built in speakers are surprisingly good, I guess the Onkyo branding is not just a gimmick after all. You can easily get away with the built in speakers once tuned in the menu, they are clear and plenty loud with a surprising amount of bass. It’s obviously not going to compete with any dedicated Atmos soundbar/speaker, but quite nice to have this decent of a sound at this pricepoint. The Atmos decoding works well with my Sharp Atmos soundbar via eARC HDMI, no complaints there.
Picture – we all have different taste in picture quality, some prefer warmer tones, some might want super saturated punchy colors. Out of the box this TV is quite good, but I had to make several tweaks until I was happy with it. This might be a limiting factor, as not everyone is capable/willing to dig deep in the settings menu looking for the perfect as possible picture balance. This QLED panel is superior compared to my old LG TV, the only section where it lacks is viewing angles, (the LG had an IPS panel, so excellent viewing angles, but not as deep blacks by the nature of the panel), there’s a slight color shift when viewing from the side, not a dealbreaker for me. Dolby Vision and HDR in general working very well, such a treat to watch HDR documentaries on Netflix, with a good audio system it’s really surprising how much value you get for the price, which is really nice considering other major brands how much charge for a QLED TV.
Verdict – there’s plenty of better TV’s out there, but usually for much more money. This TV packs all the features and then some more to be a perfect candidate for anyone who’s looking for a nice TV without breaking the bank! Despite all it’s flaws, quite hard to nitpick when this thing cost 350. The 2 year warranty gives you a piece of mind at least, this is my first encounter with TCL, I can highly recommend this TV to anyone for the price!
Very impressed with this TV for the price. The picture is great when viewing decent streaming content and the viewing angles are not at all bad. The Android operating system is pretty snappy and much quicker than my LG Nanocell! The thin bezels make the TV look more premium. The sound is not particularly impressive at higher volumes, however adequate for a bedroom TV. Would probably recommend a soundbar for a living room space. If you’re after a budget friendly TV I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Love my huge telly, it’s so big that it’s like being at the cinema. I’ve just enjoyed Top Gun Maverick and oh boy what a treat to see it so large.
I wish the program guide could be edited to remove all the dead channels and rearrange the favourites as it’s a complete pain to scroll through every time and the guide is too slow to load details for each channel. I have tried all the advice on how to speed it up but nothing works.
The other functions on this TV are great once you have customised it to your preference. I love having each channel suggest things that I might want to watch and how it learns what I like for the future.
The picture needs some tweaking but it’s great once set up.
Love it.
Watching TV?
Picture takes a bit of setting up, depending what source you are viewing.
Sky Q better with standard/eco setting, otherwise fussyness and lipsync issues.
Streaming ok.
For price ok.
Excellent TV for money .
Time will tell if the TV is in for the long run ,off to a good sta
I bought this tv in 65 inch to go in a cellar I am converting to a cinema room
I didn’t t want to spend too much but also I am pretty fussy – I have a LG Oled in the living room and LG nano and Samsung in bedrooms
So at just 549 for a 65 inch it seemed too good to be true
But I took the plunge after reading some reviews and have to say that I have been really very impressed
The picture is really very good – sharp and bright and it really pops
Not many picture controls but after the initial disappointment of not bei by able to fiddle I realised the options are good enough
Only 3 HDMIs is one of the cut backs I guess and okay as I only need to hook up an Xbox and the sound bar – and it has hdmi arc for the soundbar
Sound is decent but like anyone worth their Tv viewing sale I immediately paired it with a TCL soundbar (this isn’t as good as the tv and wish I’d have spent more)
The smart interface is also very good and so overall I have to say it is delivering big bang for the bucks
Main gripe – it struggles switching from bright to darker scenes and back with a weird sort of whole screen colour fade in and out as it changes – don’t get anything like it on my oled but I also noticed that I stopped noticing quite quickly so it isn’t all that bad
This review is for the 65″ C635K, as this comments section is a mess with reviews for 3 different models.
Firstly the pros:
1.Stunning 4k and HDR10+ picture quality. (after tweaking)
2. It also upscales older content amazingly well and adds real depth which would’ve been missing in the original.
3. The OS and menus are fast enough not to annoy you, unlike the supplied remote (singular)
4. The adjustable feet will be a bonus for many.
Cons:
1. This is purely Amazons fault. The remote supplied is utterly crap. Long and thin with too many buttons crammed in. This model comes with two remote controls directly from TCL themselves and from other retailers, but Amazon are shafting us by only supplying the basic one; which has no voice control button to enable you to use voice commands for ‘ok google’, which is a main selling point of the TV! I was told to ‘take it up with TCL or arrange a refund’. Great customer service…
2. This is TCL’S fault. It has an odd limited feature when using Alexa in that It cant turn the TV on, which may or may not be important for your needs. It will, however , turn the TV off, change the volume and also change inputs.
Overall, the picture quality is the main strength of this TV, it really is stunning from all sources once correctly configured, full lifelike depth and crystal clear clarity (soap opera effect)
Like another reviewer mentioned, though, I was also all set for returning this until I eventually got the settings right. Perseverance will be greatly rewarded.
Firstly let me say I’m somewhat visually impaired and any comments are specific to this and not necessarily the product. I do not do gaming so I am unable to make comment on this, The picture quality is more than adequate for my needs
Please note that I am unable to answer any questions about gaming, Disney channel or any or anything to do with Alexa, Google assistant, Siri etc as I don’t currently use any of these. Please refer to the instruction book on set up or search on You Tube where most technical workarounds can be found
One tv is perfect the other has red dots on it? Must be faulty so sending it back.
Second tv working well with no red dots.
Do find the remote laggy but could be the tv. For the price I’m very impressed.
I wanted a 4K tv for a bedroom and didn’t want or need an expensive tv for this.
I have 2 LG 4K tv’s but in this price range, their tv’s don’t offer the features this tv does.
I picked this model up for just over 300 and at this price , I’d say this is a good tv for the money.
I’ve heard of TCL, but had a read of a good few reviews before deciding to buy this one.
I also have a Hisense tv in another bedroom and would say they offer pretty much similar picture quality and features at around the 300- 350 price point.
I would say that this particular model offers all the HDR modes available and has Dolby Atmos capabilities so is very well specced for the money.
The picture quality is surprisingly good for the money.
Is it the best?
No, but for a tv around 300, it’s very good imo.
The inbuilt speakers are also very good and more than adequate for use in a bedroom.
The OS this tv comes with is Android based and seems ok, but I have this tv setup with a Roku stream bar, and use this for apps etc rather than the built in OS.
I haven’t used this tv for any sort of gaming so I can’t comment on performance for gaming.
But for Netflix etc this tv has impressed me so far and as long as it lasts for a good few years I would recommend it to anyone looking for a feature packed that won’t break the bank.
Definitely one to consider if you are looking for something simila
The tv is easy to get going. However it took me a while to get the picture quality right. At one point I was going to return it, due to white speckles everywhere on the blacks. Going through YouTube and various reviews, it seemed a normal occurrence with this tv. So rather than send it back, I played around with the picture settings. Gotta say, it took awhile to get it right. But the picture is amazing now, and seems to be improving every time I turn it on. If you stick with the auto settings. You’ll have picture problems. The auto set up ramps every thing to maximum. This is where the white speckles come from. The display can’t keep up with the changes. But if you take your time setting up the display settings yourself. The picture quality is amazing. All in all. For the money spent. It’s well worth it.
I had received the TV after a long waiting period.Delivery was appreciable and product which i recieved was in excellent condition.Coming to the pros of the product,By considering its price it’s an affordable choice.Sound quality is remarkable.Connectivity ( Bluetooth,2 HDMI,Optical,USB,Aux, Aerial) no issues yet.Freeview tuning is perfect. All most all streaming applications works perfectly.Picture clarity is good.Connected to an external sound bar,no audio output issues.
Cons,Operating system,it still runs upon Android 9,No recent firmware updates,
May be due to this,or due to its low 60hz refresh rate,it’s response rate is very slow, Optimization is not that good.
If any one wish to play high end games in this TV then i won’t recommend it.
bought this on sale for 300 euros on amazon , the reviews were good and I was looking to purchase a tv for the first time in ten years. I am a cinephile but covid has meant going to the cinema is rare and watching on laptops isn’t the same.
I went for this Model because I had seen TCL recommended in a couple of articles about lesser known tv brands and again this was on sale so didn’t seem much of a risk even if I wasn’t completely happy with the end product so took a chance since the LG model I was looking was considerably more.
The Tv has great sound quality and a great screen for the price , even at the original price , seems a steal seems to have all the apps you could need but after reading reviews I just invested in a 4 k fire stick anyway and have been using that without issue.
I have been very happy so far seems to be fantastic value and you seem to get more going with tcl for the price then if you went with a more mainstream brand. Early days yet but so far I have no issue heartily recommend.
To note I bought the 50 inch variant as a replacement for my 7 year old LCD TV. Also whilst you can game on this TV, don’t assume it’s got gaming monitor refresh rates, do your research before buying anything. I’ve been following TCL products via YouTube reviews of their phones and Television technology particularly in the large screen market. I’m glad I bought an Android TV, the convenience of having the same OS as my mobile is a nice change from having to keep my laptop cabled to the TV for streaming services etc. Initially I had to calibrate the screen so it suited my eyes. A lot of reviewers seem to think the TV should know their level of vision i.e. sensitivity to colour and contrast. If you are streaming anything upward of 1080p then the calibration comes into its own e.g. Dolby Vision / HDR compatible content is reproduced really well. The built-in Onkyo speakers are a treat when the sound profile is set to Dynamic the surround effect is impressive considering they are downward firing, but there are settings for a variety of sources, so you have options and the ability to fine tune other elements. Connectivity options are great 3 HDMI (incl. eArc), 2 USB ports and optical out, Bluetooth that works with a variety of wireless peripherals. This TV is value for money.
I have had this tv for a few weeks now and I would rate it 3 and a half out of 5 if I could. The qled panel is a winner and it really works well in my bright room. Stunning with HD and 4k feeds.
Some won’t fancy a TV from tcl but you would not notice these three initials on the thin bezel tv. It looks great with its thin metallic bezel look.
A cheap brand? Yes, at 433 for a 55 inch it’s at bargain level but when you compare to bigger brands at the same price it wins. An example is the metallic sturdy tv stand which can be fixed in two positions. Handy when you have a smaller table top. The stands are solid unlike my old LG where you could swing it like a rocking chair. That’s cheap. This tcl looks the business.
The android tv smart features was a selling point for me. The ability to install a vpn was crucial. It opens up the world of Netflix. Literally.
Sound is okay but a soundbar ought to be considered.
Disappointingly there are some issues with this tv. It can be unresponsive snd painfully slow. You need to reboot it at intervals like an old, weary laptop. It often says it is disconnected from the Internet and I don’t know why. Only on this tv. That shouldn’t happen but for the price I can live with it.
This tv will not suit everyone but if you can live with the compromises it’s a good bargain.
Bought this from Amazon Warehouse for 552.
Mostly happy with the TV, though only had it a few days.
First and foremost, the picture seems fine to me, whether using it to watch progs or with my PS4.
For those considering Xbox Series X/S / PS5, this TV has HDMI 2.0 and caps at 60 fps at 4K.
The UI seems responsive, though the remote does need to be pointed right at the receiver, which is beneath the screen, in the middle.
The app list does not include Now TV, which is a bit disappointing, but seems to have the other TV apps my wife and I use.
Some apps, like Disney+, are installed through the “TCL Channel” app, but you are then able to add them to the home screen by favouriting with a long press on the “OK” button.
Doesn’t seem to be a line out, for audio.
If I find any of this is wrong, or a way around an issue, I’ll update.
I initially wanted a TV with 120 fps, HDMI 2.1 ports and a 55″ screen. Options seemed to be thin on the ground below 1500, which was beyond what I was prepared to pay for a TV, so this is a compromise, but, so far, it seems to be a decent one.
Pretty please with the TV on the whole. It NEEDS calibrating out of the box. There is a TCL calibration app. But I couldn’t get it to pair with the TV so did it manually. Movie mode preset is the closest to the correct image.
It’s not a TV I could recommend for general SD broadcast viewing. You’re upscaling an SD image by a factor of 16. But for HD and above, Sreaming, Blu Rays. They all look great!
The HDR is fantastic for the price. The TV gets very bright so you’re able to actually make full use of the HDR features. Unlike a lot of other HDR TVs in this price range. It doesn’t have independent brightness and backlight control which would be nice. Hopefully that can come with a firmware update.
The built in speakers are nice enough. Seem to have a decent range on them. Better than the old sound bar I was using. But I can’t speak to how good it is with a home theater set up.
Lots of built in apps and apps that you can add. I’ve unplugged the fire stick because they’re all already built-in or can be easily installed.
It’s not the fastest TV in the world. Does take a little while to boot up and has the occasional lag when going to the home screen. But nothing that’s going to make you angry.
Internet connection is far superior when using an ethernet cable and I’d suggest it needs at least a download speed of 30mbs to stream 4k HDR content.
Overalls really pleased bar a few small things that (stop this from being a perfect 5) will hopefully be easily fixed with updates In the future. I don’t think you’ll find a better TV for the price.
