Bought this for Mum, her house is old, solidly built and definitely not conducive to good connectivity.
Following the simple plug and play set up, she now has complete WiFi connectivity throughout the ground floor and garden. Upstairs still has dead spots but they will be eliminated by a further extender.
All in all, a great investment.

The item was sensibly priced, it arrived on time and it was easy to set up. It also gives better coverage for my WiFi upstairs and have not had any issues connecting to the internet or remaining connected since I installed it. Great resul

I was a little sceptical if would make much difference but it does appear to be working very well. Took both of the adapter and extender straight out of the box and plugged them into power sockets in the same room to begin with. I connected to the extender straight away from my phone using the passcode on the label of the extender. Then moved the extender into another room and plugged in where I was having wifi signal issues. Work first time. Phone calls using whatsapp are now much clearer on my phone. TV, laptop all connect & work really well. I have not checked the actual speeds but just using it for what I need to and it works,`

Installing it took a tiny bit of work but the instructions were understandable and helped. This most certainly boosted the overall network speed of my computer. The way I set it up, I had the booster connected with an ethernet cable and the receiver connected with an ethernet to the computer which works way better than wireless. It does come with ethernet cables however these are quite short.

This has totally overcome a problem that we had following an “upgrade” to e different Wi-Fi router. The weaker signal from the new router meant that we could no longer connect our Smart meter and solar electricity apps. These devices have increased to the signal strength in the garage to maximum and re-connecting our solar electricity equipment to the Internet was extremely easy.
The only downside is that I was unable to synchronise the extender to our router using WPS. In the end, I reset everything to factory defaults and decided to live with another wifi password.

Great Find. Recently got a modular built home office/spare bedroom for our garden. Its a good 25 yards from the house so I had little faith that these would do the job but they really surprised me.
I’m able to connect 2-3 laptops/pcs, as well as access for phone and smart tv all through these plugs.
Really impressed with the signal strength and the ease of setting these up

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our Users*DISCLAIMER* I’ve reviewed multiple power lines and the same “issue” persists and is not foolproof. In all, this “issue” isn’t so much an issue but is down to a multitude of factors. Power lines operate through the current electric cables running through a household, through the router. This means that everyone’s use case is difference, and performance can vary depending on the Wi-Fi router plugged into, the wiring through your house and the Ethernet cables you use.

TP Link are always a safe bet in terms of not just power lines, but all tech products. The AV600 has worked excellently for myself, and struggled in some areas as listed below. (Please read the disclaimer, as this is MY use case, and can be SLIGHTLY different for everyone else. But in general, these pros / cons are universal)

    Pros:
    – Excellent consistency. The speed stays the same, regardless of bandwidth and users on the network. I do a lot of network heavy tasks, and have never noticed fluctuations in ping, download/upload speed.
    – Ease of installation: Anyone can set these up. The box comes with two modules and two Ethernet cables. You simply plug in both plugs in your house, plug into the router and where you want an Ethernet connection, press the connect button and you’re online.
    – Okay Wi-Fi speed: Included in both the pros and cons. The Wi-Fi that the plugs output functions well, and is consistent, but is about 20-30% the speed of the original Wi-Fi speed.

    Cons:
    – Decreased Wi-Fi speed: My internet speed on straight Ethernet is 934mb/s, but using the power lines my speed is decreased to 180mb/s. There is a speed restriction on these units, but this is a significant decrease.
    – Slow Wi-Fi speed: The modules have an extension which allows for wireless connections, they are very consistent, and function as a Wi-Fi module, but the speed is incredibly slow.

    Overall thoughts:
Power lines could be the answer to all of your Wi-Fi problems, connecting you through a wired connection anywhere in the house, and I believe that the AV600 are probably, at this price point, the best option. I have reviewed 415 power lines, which are only narrowly better than these. Product quality is good, do not consume a massive amount of power and are an incredibly easy way to get connected anywhere, if you don’t mind sacrificing a small amount of your overall Wi-Fi speed for consistency, anywhere in your house.

Please ping me a message if you have any questions regarding this product!

Wifi signal was slowing down the data speed to my sons playstation in his room upstairs. Used this to get a quicker and more reliable connection using ethernet cables and our homes electrical circuit. Plug and played with instant improvement and minimal loss of speed from the router. Was worried it wouldn’t work as upstairs is technically on a different circuit but it must run through the fuse box well giving great results. Extra boost for WiFi upstairs is also a bonus. Very pleased with this device.

Used to bring wifi to our garden room which had a terrible WiFi signal. Tried a WiFi extender previously which did nothing, this item was so easy to set up and works perfectly, giving us 50mb minimum and full signal!

Poor WiFi signal from a sky router was causing buffering when streaming so gave these guys a go. I’m no i.t. guy so was a bit concerned about the set up before they arrived but I shouldn’t have been. Instructions are clear and the two devices basically find and link themselves. The receiver has the option of a fixed connection to your device (actual wire) or it can be used as a source of WiFi for any other device you might have in that room. Annoyingly I did want a second receiver but it’s almost as much as the initial pair.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersTP-Link TL-WPA4220KIT is very simple to setup using the clear instructions. I didn’t ‘clone’ my existing WiFi network via WPS as I wanted to be able to identify the TP-Link extenders while I experimented with possible locations. Out of the box, all I had to do was follow the excellent instructions to pair the two Extenders (a second extender bought separately) with the Adapter. The kit worked perfectly without doing anything else; the two TP-Link (WiFi) extenders somehow manage a single, overlapping, WiFi network that covers the whole house – absolutely brilliant!

Don’t expect to get quite as good coverage (in a ‘difficult’ site) as you might be getting from a good WiFi router. If you’re in doubt, it was cheaper to buy the kit with two 2-port Extenders rather than buying a second a few days later as I did. If you need more than 2, check prices carefully; from Amazon, it was much cheaper to buy a second complete kit than a single (new) extender.

With 2 extender units sited to cover the whole house (massive interior and external stone walls), coverage is seamless as I move around the house with my tablet. Multiple extenders run a single WiFi network — brilliant. You just plug each one into a wall socket near the single Adaptor, pair it with the adaptor, then move it to a suitable wall socket. This means that experimenting for best coverage could not be simpler, just move extenders to different sockets — but do switch off sockets before (un-)plugging.

TP-Link tell you not to use extension cables — I had no choice (the power socket close to my router is on the skirting board too close to the floor (listed house), and I’ve had no problems with a simple 2-way extension cable. I suspect it’s multi-way extensions with power indicators, suppressors etc., that cause problems. My 3 TP-Link units are on 2 different ring-main circuits and there’s an RCCD on the consumer unit. I can’t think why going through an RCCD (outbuilding) is likely cause problems, but don’t know for sure.
Because my new 4G mobile router has to be in an attic window to get a decent mobile signal, I couldn’t put it in the same place as my redundant ADSL router located where it both gives adequate WiFi coverage of most of the house and can be connected (wired Ethernet) to my printer and PC. The 4G router connects to the whole house via the TP-link network: router directly to the TP-Link adaptor (ethernet); extender 1, in place of the ADSL router, via Ethernet to printer and PC and gives WiFi coverage to the middle of the house; extender 2 provides WiFi to the kitchen and the rooms above — where the previous WiFi was patchy.

If you really need to tinker with the set-up (e.g. change network SSID, password etc. etc.) there’s a good, intuitive, browser interface.

Was sceptical of buying this incase I wasted 40 and achieved nothing but I can confirm that the devices in my room have gone from 7mb/s download upto 45-50mb/s which is fantastic.

Definitely a good investment if you’re not bothered about having to hardwire and drill through walls etc.

I’ve got a large house so the WiFi in some rooms is really poor – 3 brick walls between the router and the device. These units (I needed 2) allow you to create and integrated single SSID network across your house. I did need my IT savvy son to set it up – but it was genuinely a 2 minute job. Recommended.

It was very easy to set it up unfortunately it produces the slowest network in the house. It allowed me to to directly connect my cctv to internet because of the Ethernet space but I can hardly use the WiFi for anything else law because it is slow and quite unstable.

Was very sceptical to be honest. Had already tried using a wifi extender in the garden office which is at the bottom of the garden but it didnt work. Signal was to weak. So i tried this TP link power line adapter as the office though has its own fuse box is still connected to the house meter. Works like a charm. wireless signal in the house runs at approx 100mb. In garden office using this adapter i can get about 40-50mb which is more than enough for what i need it for. Very impressed overall. If Wifi extender not working for you then give this a try.

My garden office managed to obtain around a 1mbps speed when the house’s 35mbp was extended through the former product.
The inline connection is (literally) a plug-and-play installation, and allows me to have a LAN connection in the office – with a speed of >30mbps. Should’ve got one months ago!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersYou will not get 300Mbps Wifi or 600Mbps powerline speeds with this as the adapter (the part you connect to the router) only has a 10/100Mbps Ethernet Port, so will draw a maximum speed of 100Mbps from your router. The extender unit also has two 10/100Mbps ports.

It’s pretty miserable false advertising from TP-link. Unfortunately, I only noticed the when I upgraded my Internet package to fibre over 100Mbps. I have seen videos on YouTube of people setting these up and then assuming it’s the electrical wiring in their house that’s the issue when they get speeds of 90-95Mbps. Nope, that’s the limit of these adapters.

On the positive side, before hand, I had a pretty poor 30Mbps connection and these worked great. So if your internet connection is below 100Mbps, these will work great, if it’s above, look elsewhere.

I have been using the TP-Link TL-WPA4220 2-Port Add-On Powerline Adapter for over four years. Initially, I used it to extend the connection to my PS4, which was situated in a completely different room. It did the job perfectly, extending my wired connection speeds down to a different room. I was able to use this to game at a very stable rate.

However, once I moved the PS4 into a different room, the speeds dropped intensely. I did some research, and it seems that on certain circuits, these powerline adapters can have better speeds and lower speeds depending on interference.

Despite this, I am still happy with the TP-Link TL-WPA4220. I use it to connect my smart TV and other devices to the internet, and it works well. I would recommend it to others, but I would caution them
to be aware that the speeds may vary depending on the circuit it is plugged into.

One of the things I like most about the TP-Link TL-WPA4220 is that it is backwards compatible with older TP-Link powerline adapters. This means that I was able to use my previous TP-Link powerline adapter in conjunction with the TL-WPA4220 to create a more extensive powerline network. This saved me from having to buy two new powerline adapters.

I used this to enable our PodPoint EV charger to link to the Internet. The garage is fed from a buried mains cable about 30m long from the switchboard. I linked to the Internet on the first floor using a port on our Deco mesh system. I had some trouble setting it up when just following the Quick Start guide but it worked perfectly when I installed the app on my phone and set it up through that. Our Internet is now extended with the same name and password.
In order to link to the PodPoint, I did have to disable the 5GHz band and leave just the 2.4MHz available.
Worth the money for the convenience and neither device is intrusive looking. Both run cool.

Used to create a new wifi system at the bottom of the garden. TP link powerline systems work really good. Now we can use it as an access point it’s even better. Over a distance of 30 m, i get a speed of 60mb, from a router speed of 200. Not too much loss for that distance. Mainly used for a firestick, and works flawlessly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI don’t normally leave reviews but wanted to share my experience to help others. I am a technophobe so anything relating to computers and networking is a total confusion to me. However I had a problem to solve. I wanted to extend usable Wifi to my garden room. I looked into stringing an Ethernet cable to the room but it would have been a difficult task and was over 50 mtrs in length. I then came across these powerline internet extenders. I couldn’t determin if it would work for me because we have 2 consumer units in the house and I didn’t know if that would create a problem or not.

Without finding a definative answer I thought that the only way to find out was to try. I have my Sky broadband router on an upstairs power socket circuit in the house. This goes back to trip in the house consumer unit. On another trip (circuit) my garage is connected to the same consumer unit. In the Garage is a 2nd consumer unit to which the garage and the garden room circuits are connected. So in my mind the Garden room was not directly on the same circuit as Sky router and nearest sockets for the transmitting part of the T-Link. However they ultimately draw the power from the same house consumer unit if albeit on different circuits.

The TP Link units arrived. I tested them in the room where the router was located. All was fine. I think took the extender out to the Garden room. Plugged it in and within 30 seconds was connected. It worked. I ran various speed tests using Googles speed checker and all gave 40 to 60 Mbs download with 12 to 15 mbs upload speeds. More than adequate for my needs.

The last thing for me to do was to take the extender back inside again and do a WPS sync so the password etc from the Sky Router was mirrored on the TP-Link. That took about a minute.

All told it took about 5 minutes to set the whole thing up which for a Numpty like me is astounding. If you are looking to save the hassle of running cables and can live with40 – 60mbs then don’t hesitate as this is a wonderful piece of kit.

Had a dead wifi spot in my house, bought this after my brother recommended it as he also used it. It works well, the setup was very easy, just plug it in and it’s all done! Nothing fiddly at all. Just make sure it’s plugged it at the main switch and not an extender as it works best that way. No more dead wifi it’s like as if I have the router in that area of the house lol. Deffo recommend this if you have weak wifi in areas of your house. Really worth the money imo

Tried doing a singular mesh wifi from my home, no luck thought lets have a go using this instead… best decision i made! The key is to get it as close to your fusebox as possible then you can use it “cross circuit” as it utilises your fusebox as a busbar!

Firstly, this is a great product, once it works! I purchased this for (a) a wired Ethernet connection for the Xbox upstairs and (b) to support HD TV viewing in the next bedroom. These 2 locations are farthest from our router.

The plug in/Ethernet bit is easy, installed in no time and the enclosed instructions work just fine for that. However, to set up the wireless element, search this model on YouTube for an informative and helpful way of setting up the Wi-Fi element.

The instructions provided give no such advice and given I am not a network engineer, if it weren’t for YouTube tutorial, I would still be wifi- less now.

It’s set up now and works perfectly so finally, I would conclude it’s a great product and I would recommend, just look up YouTube!

We bought this powerline adapter kit to improve the Wi-Fi signal in the office.

The setup was incredibly easy by following the quick setup guide and we were up and running in minutes.

The Wi-Fi signal is amazing. We can now get a strong signal in every corner of the office without any lag.

We’re really impressed with this powerline adapter kit. It’s easy to set up, it has a great Wi-Fi signal, and it’s affordable. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to improve their home or office Wi-Fi network.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the TP-Link AV600 Fast Port Powerline Adapter Wi-Fi Kit:

    Pros:

    Easy to set up
    Great Wi-Fi signal
    Affordable
    Reliable
    Good for gaming and streaming
    Cons:

May not work well in homes with old electrical wiring
May not be as fast as a wired connection
Overall, I think the TP-Link AV600 Fast Port Powerline Adapter Wi-Fi Kit is a great option for anyone who is looking to improve their home or office Wi-Fi network. It’s easy to set up, has a great Wi-Fi signal, and is affordable. I would definitely recommend it.

I’ve been using the TP-Link AV600 Fast Port Powerline Adapter Wi-Fi Kit for a while now, and for the most part, it’s been a fantastic addition to my home network. The speed and stability of the connection are excellent, and it has greatly improved the Wi-Fi coverage in my house.

However, I had to deduct one star from my rating because I’ve encountered an issue where I need to reboot the adapter every once in a while to establish a new connection. Despite trying resets and troubleshooting, this problem persists. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it can be somewhat frustrating when it happens.

That being said, when the TP-Link AV600 is working correctly, it’s hard to find fault with it. The setup was straightforward, and the overall performance has been impressive. If TP-Link can address the occasional reboot issue in future firmware updates, this kit would easily deserve a solid 5-star rating. Until then, it’s a reliable 4-star solution for extending your network.

Before attempting to set up this extender I watched a Youtube tutorial. After that the set up was as easy as the instructions said it was. I think I was just apprehensive because some of the reviews.

The reach is good and now my whole property is covered. A small point, the transfer from the router to TP Link is not seamless. So if I am on the Whatsapp call it drops when my router runs out of reach and before TP Link kicks in, but that is a minor issue. I am sure there is a way of resolving it, but it really is not that important so I won’t be spending time on this.

    I highly recommend this product.

I live in a rural location with no land based Internet connection. I use a 4G wireless router to connect to a mobile mast for Internet. The only place I get a 4G signal is in the shed at the end of the garden, so that’s where the router is. I’d been using a wifi extender in the house to relay the signal from the shed then broadcast it out to the house, but this was very temperamental with a lot of signal strength issues. The powerline concept of extending wifi is a game changer. It was crazy easy to pair the router and extender together, and also easy to copy all of the settings over from the router. I was set up in around 10 mins.

Not only is the stability and speed of the connection vastly improved, but the range of the wifi coverage in the house is vastly better that it was with the old wifi extender.

    Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFive stars for the product, one star off for the setup which I’ve no doubt will flummox quite a few buyers.

Basic setting up is pretty simple, I should point out. Plug the two parts into their respective electrical sockets, connect up the cable, and you’re done just as long as you don’t mind using the default SSID and password. If you’re like me and you want to have something a bit more user friendly, you’ll want to either change it to your own identifier or keep the same one that your router broadcasts.

I followed the instructions and try as I might I couldn’t get the WPS command to change the settings automatically. I tried more than once. Then I installed the app which should have allowed me to change everything manually, except that it didn’t work either. I gave it three shots and in the end I got it to work by using some sort of web browser.

I say “some sort” because by this point I was just clicking on links and hoping it would get me somewhere. I have no idea what I did but I got the result I wanted.

I’m very happy with the speed and the stability of the connection, which is a huge improvement over what I was getting before. We had a conservatory built and what with the distance from the router, and the new doors, it was pretty bad. I had been using a regular WiFi extender and that was still pretty poor.

I’d recommend this for the price, as long as you’re computer savvy or else you’re happy to go along with the default settings.

Plugged the second socket in to garage which is about 30 metres away and on a different mains circuit to the other socket. So it’s going threw the main fuse box and had to pick up another fuse circuit. Took about 5 mins to set up all plug and play.. Signal strength is ample to use in garage. I’ve used it mainly to connect by wireless link tapo camera. I would by again. Very good produc

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersDo you want Internet connection to your garden office or shed? I did, so I purchased a TP-Link AV600 Powerline Adapter Wi-Fi kit. The box included 2 adaptors and 2 cables. So easy to install. Once both units have been plugged into the electrics and have paired, (by themselves, no technical skill required here), remove the extender unit to your garden shed or office plug it into an electric socket in there, and you have internet access installed. It’s simple. However, before you buy this item check 1) your electrics are fairly new and on the same circuit, we knew ours were ok because our electrics were up dated 4 years ago, so we didn’t check them because we wouldn’t know how to. 2) that you have a router that has a WSP button on it, this is essential, otherwise if your router is old tech and does not have a WPS button I am not sure this internet extender will operate. We contacted our Internet supplier and requested a replacement router, (ours was 4 years old), once we had the new router, with a WPS button on it we purchased this TP-Link AV600 powerline. If you find it difficult to follow the paper installation leaflet (which has pictures on it), do what we did find a Utube Tutorial for the TP-link AV600 in English, we played that tutorial a few times before we set about installation, we are elderly and have no expertise. I am now delighted because for the first time in four years I have good internet in my garden shed. Once both units have been paired indoors, move the larger booster/extender to where you want to receive the internet i.e. shed/garage/summerhouse whatever. My shed is over 140 ft away from the main router in the house. I am well pleased took about 30 mins to install, over a cup of tea. highly recommend this TP-Link well worth the money, and was delivered to my local Post office the following day, I am soooo happy. .Highly recommended product 5* There is a 14 day no quibble refund if you want it. what’s to lose??? Have a go.

I was looking for a way to extend my router’s signal without having a second network created, since I use my WiFi to access all drives on my network. I am very pleased with that this kit made this possible. I haven’t really measured the speeds it gets, but it meets my needs.
I managed to set it up only using the buttons on the devices, without needing to go online. It took a couple of tries, but only because I didn’t read the instructions properly the first time around.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo this was a piece of cake to set up. You don’t even need to bother with any apps and making accounts etc. Plug in. Press 2 buttons. Wait. Done.

However, 1000Mbit over up to 300m? I guess this might be one or the other. With the two plugs reasonably close to each other I can just about achieve my max internet speed over the 5 GHz WiFi. Once I moved the plug out to my office though, that speed is down from around 300 Mbit to 60 Mbit. This is still absolutely fine for my use and I suppose it could be the older wiring in my house and the office is in the garden but wired into the main fuse box. But even so this has to be significantly less than 100m of cabling so I expected it to be a little better than that.

Still. It beats WiFi hanging on by a thread!

Effective utilising home cabling to extend internet to parts of the house otherwise without signal. Indeed it has enabled me to access the internet from my garden office which is most impressive given its distance from the house. (I have power to the garden office allowing me to make use of the electrical cable between the house and office).

Simple to install and far less complex than a mesh system which would have clashed with the Sky Q Hub I have installed. Much research on mesh systems suggested they can be challenging to set up alongside Sky internet/broadband.

I intend to use the TP Link system to manage Philips Hue which requires an ethernet connection to manage lighting when the lighting is in more than one location and the Hue Bridge needs to be some distance for the wifi router to function properly – I will update when installed…

I have a TP-Link router so it made sense to use this TP-Link powerline extender kit to create better wifi coverage throughout my house.

The setup instructions are comprehensive but frankly a little difficult to understand I thought (maybe it’s me). Anyway setup doesn’t take too long and the extender was up and running in about 20 mins. Immediately I had proper wifi coverage at the back of the house with full signal. And because these work as part of TP-Link’s “One Mesh” system, they have the same network name as your router as you move around the house – this works very well indeed. In fact I bought a 2nd extender to add to the 1st one, so I have coverage everywhere now.

My one slight gripe is occasionally they seem to lose their top speed (i.e. download & upload) so a quick power off-on every month or so seems to keep them at their best. Not a biggy, but something to be aware of in case that sort of thing bothers you. Easy 5 star all the same.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHas worked as I hoped it would – one concern was that I have the individual powerline adaptors plugged into different rings in the house, downstairs by the router and upstairs for the WiFi extender, but the signal gets through perfectly.

I understand that different rings is ok as long as they both go through the same fuse box, which mine do.

Only issue was the cloning of my existing WiFi network to take advantage of the seamless network option the product can do. No matter how many times I tried, the auto-cloning would not work, so a few forum googles later, I found out how to manually change the settings.

Took 20 minutes or so, no biggie, but would have preferred the auto-cloning to have worked first time.

Delighted overall with the product, though should probably have gone for the pass-through version, as we have now lost a plug socket at each end.

Golden Review Award: 164 From Our UsersI purchased both a TL-WPA4220KIT and TL-PA4010KIT as part of the same home WiFi solution. As such, I have given the same review for both purchases.

We have a long thin Victorian house with a BT HomeHub-5 in the front lounge. We have a ‘copper’ connection to the BT exchange as fibre is not available in our area of London yet. That said, we usually get a reasonable 9-10Mbps connection. Our problem is that we cannot get usable WiFi coverage in the kitchen at the rear of the house.

We initially tried to use WiFi signal extenders but these proved slow and unreliable. So, about 3 years ago I purchased an AV500 PowerLine solution from SAGEMCOM. This included a Powerline WiFi extender in the kitchen. This proved to be adequate though we did need to reset all of the adapters about once a month when things ‘locked up’.

Then, a month ago, the WiFi adapter in the kitchen handed in its cards and died.
Thinking I would try for a higher-tech solution I purchased a WiFi Mesh solution on Amazon. However, this proved to be a complete disaster being slow and totally unreliable. I suspect this was due to the requirement for overlapping WiFi signals between the nodes. Also, as we live very close to the Crystal Palace TV transmitter, we are susceptible to RF interference.

So, it was back to the drawing board and I returned to the tried and tested PowerLine solution. I chose these AV600 kits as I have always liked TP-Link products and found them dependable and reliable. As such, in total, we have 3 x TL-PA4010 mini PowerLine adapters and a TL-WPA4220 WiFi extender (in the kitchen). One of the mini adapters in located in the lounge and is connected with a LAN cable to the BT router. The other 2 adapters are in the bedroom. One is connected to a BT YouView box and the other to a Roberts Internet Radio (neither of which support WiFi). A secure network was made by connecting all 4 units in turn by use of the ‘pair’ buttons.

All then burst into life and worked fine. The WiFi extender was using its factory SSID and password. I successfully trialed changing this by logging onto its admin screens using a browser (you will need to know its IP address to do this — I picked it up from the BT Hub setup menus). But then, I used the ‘WPS’ method to clone the BT Hub SSID and password instead by, temporarily, moving the extender to the lounge and following the easy ‘quick setup’ guide. This worked a treat and everything has now worked without hiccup for over a month.

I have had previous issues with cloned SSID’s – with mobile devices getting confused when connecting. However, thus far, we have not had any problems and devices switch between the BT router and TP-Link extender (as we move around the house) without issues. That was a pleasant surprise!

I did get the tpPLC android app for my mobile and its quite informative. It has a poor rating in the Google Play Store but this is IMHO, unjustified. It has no whistles and bells or astounding graphics but it does a job simply and well. I can see the status of all adapters and the speed of communication between each one. I seem to be getting a respectable 380-450 Mbps between each device except when they are idling and the communication rate drops to, I presume, a default 11 Mbps. The app also allows you to rename the devices (which may be useful for any future trouble shooting) and it can used (apparently) for firmware upgrades. Alas, it cannot be used to restart devices (it only allows a factory reset). Nor, can it be used for changing the settings (SSID ID etc) on the extender — this can only be achieved by ‘browser’ access.

So, we are pleased. This solution is (thus far) reliable and is reasonably priced. It is also easy to set up (though my prior experience in this area helped) and it’s a step up from our old SAGEMCOM PowerLine solution. Had BT supplied us with a higher speed ‘fibre’ internet connection, I would have gone for say, an AV1200 setup with dual band WiFi.

As it is, this meets our needs. Also, if you have a shortage of mains outlets in your house, you may want to opt for more expensive ‘mains pass-through’ adapters.

NOTE. I see there are a number of debates on Amazon regarding the reliability of PowerLine solutions.
ie. Some people are extremely happy while others have persistent problems.
This is not peculiar to TP-Link products.

Based on my experience, I would suspect that performance is directly related to the state of the house mains wiring. Our house has recently been rewired which not only improves (and reduces the number of) connections, but potentially shortens cable runs too. As such, unfortunately, a PowerLine solution may not be ideal for everyone – particularly in some older houses with extensions and complications added over the years. You may need to ‘suck it and see’ to decide if it works for you.

    5.0 out of 5 stars A cost-effective solution - for us

Golden Review Award: 105 From Our UsersI am a network engineer and I bought this for a job I had to do for a client which involved getting a wifi signal to a set of remote gate posts on a property for a smart intercom / doorbell.

This product for me was both vastly cheaper than buying the amount of cat5 (ethernet) cable I needed and a million times easier than running it down the side of a very long driveway.

I am incredibly impressed with this product and I use TP Link powerline networking gear a lot but the first time I used this model with the wifi option which not only worked really well the wifi signal this plug produced was very strong and rock solid and could be picked up from a considerable distance away.

Setup literally could not be easier you simply plug the smaller of the two plugs into a electrical socket and plug one end of the supplied cat5 (ethernet) cable into the plug and the other end into the back of your broadband router (or network switch / patch panel etc). Then plug the bigger of the two plugs into a electrical socket in the area you want the extended wifi signal in. The bigger of the two plugs also have a ethernet / network port on it so you can plug a cable into it and then into the back of a computer, tv, games console etc and still benefit from the wifi extension too.

Take it from someone who knows their stuff when it comes to this carry on…. this is a excellent piece of kit made by a manufacturer who is unable to make a bad product… TP Link are superb. The price paid is a bargain full stop but as I said above given the cost of the cable I would have to have used this for me was the bargain of the century and saved me a back breaking day of pulling cable.

Cannot recommend highly enough… it’s a no brainer ladies and gentlemen!
