Bit of a challenge installing, however that was due to my PC rather then the product. Instant internet access get speed of 150/Mbs in my room, before it struggled to get 5 on Ethernet!
I bought this to help with some Bluetooth issues. Seems to have sorted everything. Easy to connect (if you’re happy to go inside your PC). It also comes with a smaller bracket if you have a tiny PC. The base of the antenna is magnetic too. Perfect to let me mount it under my desk on the legs!
Good value for money, plug and play with msi 550-a-pro motherboard. I was using to link ethernet powerlink and was only averaging 22mbps, with this set up I’m getting about 68mbps and it is approximately 30 feet through a solid concrete wall away from the router.
Easy to install even a complete noobie to computers could fit this. Its working fine and ive now got a stable and fast connection to the Internet in a room in my house which usually gets poor signal but not with this little beauty. I would definitely recommend to anyone whos looking at getting decent wireless connectio
As it is 2.5gbit, it has 2.5x the performance of the standard gigabit you find on most devices.
However, as it’s a pcie card, it will take some extra time to install over something such as the usb c version but but it’s reliability will greatly be improved.
Please note that if your installing one of these for yourself, your network switch and ethernet cable need to be capable of 2.5gbit to take advantage of this card to its full 2.5gbit speed, otherwise it may run at 100mbps or gigabit, which negates the upgrade all together.
Thankfully, cabling shouldnt be a worry for most people as you can use some older Cat 5e you likely already have lying around or connected to your existing system.
I can confirm it works brilliantly with Virgin Media’s Superhub 5 which has a dedicated 2.5gbit port on the back.
I am on a 500Mbps internet connection that normally exceeds this with a cable connection, I am not able to run a cable to my office and so brought this to provide a connection. Install was simple and straight forward with drivers being picked up upon plugging in with Win11.
The connection speed was around 300Mbps which is not bad when on wifi in my house and the bluetooth is perfect. I was expecting the signal to be much better with what was stated on the box but can only guess the speeds listed on the box are for ideal communication with no obstacles or obstructions as you get in the real world. The magnetic base of the antennae unit is a very nice touch.
I would recommend this as it does a good job of providing both bluetooth and wifi to a PC that does not have either installed.
My upload speeds had dropped to really low even though it is network cabled. When i turned it to wifi instead the speeds increased so I new the problem was with the network card. I bought this and from delivery to having it running again was 10 minutes and back to decent speeds again. It does what it should and was quick to fit.
The card is fast and stable. It connects to 5ghz and 2.4ghz without a fuss and maintains stable ping times (something which the TP link USB offerings can fail to do especially on 5ghz mesh setups where you can get regular 3s+ pings every 10 seconds or so).
The Bluetooth connected without issue to my galaxy buds 2 pro and maintained a stable solid connection.
The only downside is that the supplied cables are frankly too short, they should have been 1 meter long to allow better placement of the aerial set and not the measly 50 cm or so. So if you consider buying this (and its a good buy for sure) then also consider buying a male to female cable extension (two leads needed), but this adds another 8-10 in cost depending on the length of extension required.
My brand new motherboard ethernet adapter is not working and the seller was being difficult about returns. I bought this to try to patch the issue and it is perfect. Allowed me to cut ties with a no good motherboard producer, and make me feel like I didn’t waste 250 on a defective part. Good job TP link, always there to save the day.
Replaced my old 2.4ghz adapter with this one. Because pc is upstairs in a diferent part of a house of where router was i used to get poor signal and top speed pf 10mbs download. With this adapter i get top signal and 200mbs speeds. Amazing for this price… could not get any better.
I was having issues with the on board NIC on my MSI EDGE Z690 not working and requiring a reboot , it’s a known issue with the intel based network adapter.
Connected this and all good now and just works and is small and discreet.
fantastic Wi-Fi card I am delighted .my old card only gave me 80meg but after putting in this card I now get over 500 meg. I am in an old house ten meters from the router so didn’t expect these broadband speeds but the card made my day with a huge smile.
Great product for pc tower. Much faster to connect to bluetooth and wifi than a usb dongle. The ariel foot is also magnetic so it fits anywhere on the pc case.
Very happy with this product.
Bought this after getting a 1gb fibre line and the performance is outanding!! Even boosted my signal from my Fibre Hub (see attached screen). Well worth the money and alot faster than my original wired LAN connection even with a CAT 8 cable. Easy to install, easy to set up (windows auto downloads latest drivers) and rock solid performance even with multiple online applications running at once.
bluetooth 5.0 instead 5.2 as described. But i don’t need that. As WiFi receiver… brilliant.
amazing, connection is 10x faster than with stock motherboard wifi card. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!
Purchased this item to replace an existing WiFi card that xame with a brand new PC.. am more than happy that I did as the signal range is far better than the existing… along with this the Bluetooth was a nice bonus… perfec
The usual Pcie installation and what a difference. My broadband is the same which is capped by my internet. The PC performance, however, is so much quicker, I guess from the extra headroom. I may upgrade my internet though I may not have to.
Love it. I live 2 floors above the router and I thought I’d struggle.but I download really fast 30 gigs in a few minutes and seamless gaming. Never noticed any lag and my ping is good. I can’t rate the Bluetooth as I haven’t used
Put it in, turn your computer on, and if you have a network connection, Windows will install the realtek driver automatically. So far it’s been solid and it supports wake on lan without any faffing about. Well worth the money.
Got this to replace an Asus USB-AX56 that would just randomly disconnect all the time.
Easy to install (if you’re used to opening computer boxes and fiddling around) and works a treat.
So far it’s been rock solid with no dropouts.
Added this to my Dell Precision Desktop Workstation. Very clear instructions and the provided drivers installed without any issues.
WiFi and Bluetooth connected to my network and devices flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
So I was in need of a modern Wi-fi card since we just got a new fibre internet.
Router is downstairs, PC upstairs. I was getting 5mbps download speed with the old card.
Now with this bad boy I get 30mbps!
Also the Bluetooth is just what I needed, I used a USB dongle that was 4. something and my airpod pros had literally seconds of latency and bad audio (with the mic disabled) and now their audio is crystal clear with next to no latency! Worth the money this thing is a beast!
Picture is to compare my old to the new, you can see how much of a beast it is.
Fast speeds. positioning of the antenna is crucial as a foot or so in one direction can lose you 80MB/s
Awesome! I’ve gone up from 70Mbpd using ether net cable through a Devolo powerline plug to 240Mbps over wifi. Bluetooth seems to be working just fine too. Easy install if you know how to install a pcie card (plenty videos on YouTube if not). The drivers didn’t auto install in my case, so downloaded from TP-LINK website. However no AX3000 listed do I installed TX3000 drivers & seems to be working and no exclamation marks in Device Manager. Very good investment!
It gives really fast Internet speed and it is easy to install. Only problem is that I can’t set up the Bluetooth but that might be because my pc has a weird plug in area for Bluetooth. The inteners are magnetic so it can easy go onto of the pc.
Went from 20 mb/s download 5 upload on speedtest, to 270 mb/s download 27 upload.
I didn’t know my router was capable of reaching these speeds, in fact no device I’ve ever owed has given such wifi performace. This includes phones and a macbook.
Incredible!
Brilliant Connection through 3 solid concrete walls leading from upstairs to downstairs where the router is placed. No WiFi ?? No Problem. I can highly recommend this WiFi card with very easy installation and the Bluetooth is a welcome bonus
Works like a charm, had issues with my previous wifi adapter. This adapter does not have nearly as much ping jitter/lag. Bluetooth is also the cherry on top. Although it is more expensive than other adapters, you know it will work well. If you need a stable connection for gaming, or streaming can not recommend any more.
I recently upgraded to gigabit Internet so I had to change my network card to take advantage of the new speed.
I really liked the ease of installation. Windows detected the new card and installed the drivers automatically.
My new router is not in a very good position (behind my TV!) But even with this impediment im still getting speeds of over 700mb vs the old card which had speeds of 450mb.
Also worth noting is that the cable for the antenna is actually a decent length so I was able to set it in a good position on my desktop.
I would recommend this card if you are looking to upgrade to WiFi 6 and have the line speed to take advantage.
Works well and the antennas have a cable and a magnetic bottom so they can be positioned easily AND attached on metal things. Connects to network instantly on startup.
Has a wide array of settings, including one that you can set it to prefer 2.4/5/6 GHz, although in the end I just had to tell it to use 5GHz only.
Windows wouldn’t recognise it without the TP-LINK drivers (unlike previous WiFi cards), so I had to download and send them over from my phone, I advise you do that beforehand if possible. They also come on a CD but nowadays that’s rarely useful.
The Bluetooth connection takes a whole USB pin slot on the motherboard. I had one lying around free but if you have added additional USBs to your build it might not be a feature you can easily use.
The card was easy to install, got the drivers from their website as it did not come with a disk and I dont have a CD drive but I still like shiny things so miss the cd’s that they used to come with.
The product slots into a pcix1slot easily enough and takes usb power from a header on the mother board this is required for bluetooth connections. That is unfortunately where my experience ended, I had to return the product as it uses a Intel chip (AX) and since my system would not alloew me activate the 5ghz channel due to this I cannot say how good that side of it is. Though the 2.4ghz connection was solid Intel and Microsoft do not allow a 5fhz wifi hot-spot to be created so rendered it useless for me and my quest 2.
I tried the work arounds but nothing worked so had to return. Other than windows hating me and the chip I would of kept this card gladly as it was high quality with good signal strength and great value for money!
So I bought this after building my own PC earlier on in the year only to find that a bluetooth transmitter wasn’t on the Motherboard I used.
I’d already purchased a tiny little adapter and had managed to hook up my Bluetooth mouse to that but couldn’t get my Bluetooth keyboard to work with it, eventually I bought this but with some trepidation.
I’ve already got a TP Link router so figured that this might work well with that, but I was a bit worried about the whole antenna bit. My main worry was that I’d end up with having to carefully place the antenna system somewhere so that it wouldn’t fall over. I hadn’t realise that the antenna base was magnetised and was delighted to see that it happily sticks to my case and actually looks good whilst doing it. Also suddenly the Bluetooth keyboard that had refused to work any distance away from the PC is actually happily now connecting and working.
It’s early days yet but if this continues I’m completely happy. Installation was a cinch but, don’t be like me and just stick it in the case and attach the antennas expecting it to work. You will need to attach the included power cable which I believe must plug into a usb port on your motherboard.
Very happy with this.
Why bother?
I have currently been using the built-in motherboard wi-fi but was wondering if jumping to Wifi-6 would improve my Wi-fi speed. I haven’t spotted a wi-fi 6 router yet that has good enough reviews to shell out hundreds of pounds for a replacement, so I figured I’d start with the PCIe adapter first at around 50. I did spot an Asus one that was slightly cheaper, but it was out of stock, so the TP-Link was my experiment.
My spec:
PC: 6 year old desktop pc with an Asus motherboard that supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz (Broadcom 80211ac chip)
(Windows 10, 64bit, intel i7-4770K 3.5 Ghz, 16GB Ram, Samsung 1TB SSD)
Router: FritzBox 7530 (Supplied by Zen ISP)
Installation
On receiving the TP-Link AX-3000 Archer TX3000E PCIE card it was straightforward to install. There was however a cable that attaches to the card and plugs into an internal USB Port. This is to get the Bluetooth 5.0 working. I didn’t have any spare USB ports and never use Bluetooth so I left the cable plugged into the card but not the board for now as I may change my mind later.
There’s an external Antenna that screws into the two connectors at the back of the card.
Please note I had a few issues connecting to any Wi-fi at all initially but soon realised I hadn’t correctly tightened (or I hadn’t aligned the threads up correctly) the nuts. So, make sure you don’t make my mistake as you may end up writing a bad review unnecessarily.
Software
After installing the card and switching on my PC I went straight to the TP-Link Website and got the latest version from the downloads section. I didn’t bother with the install disk that came with it.
Testing
My router and internet connection has the ability to provide up to 300MBS when directly connected via a cable That’s my theoretical maximum. So below are my test results:
Asus built-in wi-fi (using original antenna)
2.4ghz (down/up): 88MB/32 MBs
5.0ghz (down/up): n/a (Signal too weak to connect)
Asus built-in wi-fi (using TP-Link antenna)
2.4ghz (down/up): 79MBs/32 MBs
5.0ghz (down/up): 111MBs/32 MBs
TP-Link wi-fi (using TP-Link antenna):
2.4ghz (down/up): 96MBs/32 MBs
5.0ghz (down/up): 176MBs/32 MBs <------ TP-Link wi-fi (using old Asus antenna) 2.4ghz (down/up): 38MBs/32 MBs 5.0ghz (down/up): 123MBs/31 MBs Conclusion: The antenna alone makes a big difference but the two together is giving me faster wi-fi than before. So for me it's a win. Meanwhile my next project is the wi-fi 6 router but I'm happy to wait until the right one takes my fancy.
I moved to a new home. I wanted to get rid of my Ethernet cable that was directly connected to my ISP’s modem/router without routing cables through the walls (or rather my wife wanted me to stop making a mess of the floors with cables!). I’m on a 350Mbps connection, and wanted to keep some semblance to that speed.
I was, or still am, looking at routers which would replace my default issued ISP modem/router, but before biting the bullet with an expensive (300+) top-of-the-line router, I wanted to try a modern PCI-e adaptor with the latest standard in Wi-Fi tech. I wanted a Wi-Fi 6 compatible adaptor to ‘future-proof (oh how naive)’ myself. Therefore I was looking at adaptors with Intel AX200 chips, but I also wanted to find one with freely placeable antennae.
To preface, I was sceptical of Wi-Fi adaptors due to my prior experience. To put into context, my wife’s desktop in the same room with a 3 year old Netgear adaptor gets around 60Mbps (out of an ISP rated 350Mbps). I’ve never seen ISP rated speeds using Wi-FI adaptors versus direct Ethernet connection. I had an inkling that this may be due to the antennae being in a poor position because they’re directly connected to the PCI-e bracket.
Out of the AX200 chip-set adaptors, this one was one of the few that had an extendable antennae. I also chose this one because I have heard of TP-LINK in the past, others were unfamiliar brands (not to knock them, they could be great!).
Much to my surprise – with the correct positioning of antennae – I am able to receive my ISP’s rated speeds one floor above my ISP’s modem/router. The movable antennae is great because I can fix it onto the front of my desktop with its magnetic base to get a strong reception. I would say that the antennae’s cable length is slightly smaller than I anticipated – it’s around a meter or a bit long, but it was enough to reach the desk and other places in close proximity.
Will, or should I, buy a Wi-Fi 6 router after using this adaptor? Eventually, yes. Our household has an increasing number of devices, some of which already are communicating over the new ‘6’ standard. But for now I shall wait until the router offerings become more mature and tested. I am currently happy using this adaptor with an older 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) standard router.
I will knock off a ‘star’ for value for money. It is 60 quid, and a lot of the other AX200 offerings float around 30-40, albeit without the extendable antennae. I was Umming and ahing whether to get this compared to a cheaper fixed antennae card, but in the end I am pleasantly surprised, and will be buying another for my wife’s desktop.
I just wanted to write this because I was in a predicament with all the various PCI-e cards floating around, and was genuinely happy with this type.
I am unable to comment of the Bluetooth functionality – I have no desire for my desktop to have it.
