Like all products these days, no clear instructions on how to set it up. Their forum is not super either.
However the computing power of this thing is amazing. Not had any real issues since installing it.

It also looks like something from an alien ship if that kind of thing floats your boat.

All the routers provided by suppliers are cheap and not fit for purpose in a world where there are lots of online devices and there’s only going to be more. This new router put the virgin hub to absolute shame. You will not be disappointed!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHooked up router to existing router supplied by my provider using cable and now having over 80 wi fi Alexa devices connected is no longer a problem as all stay online and no more drop outs of signal. Fantastic tethered router very simple to set up by using a LAN cable between the routers and hey presto the router set up basically does the rest for you once you enter your network address and password. Highly recommend this product to anyone that uses their router for gaming or simply automating their home. I have blind and curtain motors, smart plugs and switches, 7 Alexa devices, 6 cctv cameras, 5 fire sticks, smoke alarms and many other devices all connected and prior to installing this router I faced a daily battle to keep everything online 24/7.

    Great route

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersRouter comes in a massive box, very well packaged, similar to an Apple product. Setting it up however was not as easy, which was due to the limited supporting documentation/instruction and TP Links Support section on their website wasn’t of much help either. It took my about 2 days to figure out which settings I had to apply. However once i had everything up and running I was very impressed with the performance. My Wifi speeds nearly doubled. Now I can even get a signal in my back garden. Considering the performance its very well worth the money, but I was pretty close returning the router because the instructions and setting it up was cumbersome. For me as a gamer with various consoles hooked up, its the perfect solution as most of my consoles are connected via WiFi, TriBand comes in very handy .

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWhen the virgin super hub 3 wasn’t so “super”, I needed more power for all the devices in my home. This beast of a router doesn’t fail. Without going into too much detail, this router is very easy to setup, has lots of functionality and is very powerful. BUT, not many people mention or realise this, but the chances are, your devices/clients won’t be able to match the power of this thing…! The AX11000 is on the ground floor. I have a really old iPad which, when 1 metre away, struggles to reach 6mbps. Compare that to an iPhone 13 pro max which reached 500mbps IN THE LOFT! If you have the devices that can handle the speed this wifi router can supply the bandwidth at it with ease!! Personally, I love that and am glad I purchase it! Highly recommended.

    EDIT:
Approx one month on and router performs beautifully. The iPhone pro max continues to reach max speeds on wifi (router on ground floor next to tv iPhone tested in loft). Have a gaming PC in loft too which had really poor wifi reception. Not a problem any more since a new wifi network adapter installed cured that problem. Now the PC hits same speeds on wifi as iPhone. It just shows, if you have the latest tech which can employs high speed connections, the router can kick out the necessary bandwidth out to those products. I’m very pleased with the router and am glad I purchased it. Recommended.

Easy to setup and get going with I have it directly connect to my fibre ONT with login details setup, design is nice and wifi coverage seems pretty damn good.

Speed is excellent over wifi6 but usual drop off through walls etc.

I purchased this router as an emergency replacement for an ageing Linksys EA9500 that is getting flaky. I might have spent the extra for a 6E router but there aren’t any for sale in the UK yet. So far the AX90 looks good. It delivers the nominal 1Gbps I get from my internet connection well over cabled connections, and I’m getting 600Mbps to my WiFi 5 phone, which is the best I’ve ever had. I have a lot of Smart Home devices, most of which use 2.4 GHz WiFi, these are all coexisting happily although a lot of reconfiguration was required, this is a function of the dodgy Smart Life app, not the router.
    Overall very happy so far.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersNice and easy to configure, all the basic functionality you would want. It’s not a bad product, it’s just not worth the price, as there are other better and cheaper products on the market.

The problems I have with it is says it has QoS and configurable per device. What they don’t tell you is that you can’t configure this on the webpage, you have to use their mobile tether app, which is good, but this isn’t practical. Additionally, all it does is allow you to select some devices as high priority. This does absolutely nothing. There are no features to limit bandwidth per client, or by selecting particular services. It’s a joke that it doesn’t have these features, as they’re not new, they’ve been in the industry for at least 10 years.

The Wifi aspect of it isn’t fantastic either, its no different to my old Fritzbox without any antennas. This might be beneficial if you want to mount it to a ceiling but no one does, so there is little point in purchasing it for this reason.

When contacting support about the features they wrote a well constructed customer support response, however the outcome is they will refer this back to the development team. Which I know having worked in customer support, this essentially means nothing will happen.

Anyway, it is quite a good product for the basic user, but it’s a little higher priced than it’s worth.

I’m really happy with my purchase the signal is great the power is great I’ve got nothing bad to say I pay for 350mbps and get around 400/410 so really pleased. I had an asus rt-ac88u router which was good but now I just use it in bridge mode with my tp link router and works perfectly.

I was amazed how this router managed to get my 4 bedroom house covered with good decent WiFi, and I’m speaking here about pumping speed from earlier 16Mbps (on the old sky router) to 48 Mbps on this router using speed test, Apart from that it operating in the 5GHz upper band which is a huge bonus if you need supercritical Wi-Fi dedicated for your gaming sessions or business meeting as it is highly unlikely that your neighbors would operate on these upper band channel, giving you the entire spectrum B.W without interference. Very satisfied with this purchases and thinking of getting this as a gift for my parent house

After months of arguing with Virgin media about the poor performance of their cheap router. This product has been my saviour. It has bought peace back to my household , now that everyone can use the internet uninterrupted. The dead zones in the back of the house which had no signal, now have a stronger speed than if you was to stand next to my old router and test it. I can now work from home without the worry of the Wi-Fi suddenly dropping on me . Very very happy with the purchase!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersReplaced a faulty Asus AC88U with this model.
Was getting between 400 – 500mbps up and down when in the same room as the router, however dropped significantly when on other side of house, down to about 100mbps. In some cases, some devices would drop off the network. I also found the 5GHz channel took about 10 minutes to become discoverable when rebooted.

With this new router, I’m consistently getting about 750mbps. More importantly, works consistently in all rooms and I achieve over 400mbps at the furthest point in the house, and about 300mbps at the furthest point in the garden.

The size of the router was also smaller than the AC88U.

I would have provided 5 stars, but I was really disappointed to see a premium charge to use there Homeshield Pro service, this should be free given the cost of the unit.

Would highly recommend this anyone looking for a good coverage, high speed router.

I have this connected to a Virgin Media Super Hub 2 set to modem mode. I receive 200 meg speeds from virgin. When I speed test the WiFi from the AX11000 I get speeds in excess of 200 when using WiFi 6 across the 3 floors of the house.
The super hub would drop out, where this is stable even when multiple devices are connected to it.
The app makes it really easy to set up and the QOS is really easy to use. I just keep it on standard and never have any issues. Really pleased with the router.

Prior WiFi set up I was using Virgin Media Super Hub 3. I was averaging 30-40mbs download using various speed tests on a potential 600mbs download plan from Virgin.
After realising the utter poor performance with the Super Hub, I decided to upgrade my WiFi setup.
I went with the Archer AX11000 after literal months of router research and albeit the high price looked to be the better option.
Setup was easy. Installed the app on my phone, went through the installation guide and was up and running in under 10 minutes.
First speed test results were outstanding. WiFi speed was 350-400mbs download and Ethernet results were 450-500mbs.
I highly recommend this if your looking to upgrade your current setup. If you do upgrade please ensure your Ethernet cables are rated Cat6 and above as this will ensure your new router is operating at near peak performance for years to come.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was looking for a router to increase the WiFi signal in my flat and help this super – extra – modern Virgin Media Hub 4 (no comment!)
I bought another but gave it back because it did not improve the signal.
This one is amazing. Easy to assemble, easy to set up. WiFi signal quality above my expectations. Today I accidentally checked the signal in the garden in shed, about 25 meters from TP-Link and a big surprise – 145Mbps. Overall, in the 1GB package with Virgin in my flat I have about 500 – 800 tested on the iPhone12 pro max.
I have not tested the speed on the ethernet cable but it is definitely high.
It’s big and you definitely need to plan a place for it. I hid it in the closet on the top shelf with this super Hub 4
I hope nothing will change and I recommend this route

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought this router to increase the range and strength of my current network which is through a talk talk wifi hub. All my 5ghz devices connected perfectly and wifi6 too. But a couple of older laptops could not see the 2.4ghz network even though it was still transmitting. Initially I thought this was a router problem and tried loads of searching online and changing settings, eventually i switched back to the old router to fight this battle another day! Next day it hit me, what if it wasn’t the router but the devices, I ran an update on the network card drivers and there it was, the 2.4ghz network. So long story short, router is amazing as you would expect, update your device drivers.

If you are buying this for use with the Oculus Quest 2 and Virtual Desktop, it’s amazing works ok with 100MB cable but ideally use cat6/7/8 from PC to router then wifi6 from quest2.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI have a virgin 3.0 hub and couldn’t understand why we got frequent drop outs on devices even when hardly any streaming takes place. Turns out the virgin hub couldn’t handle all the devices connected but buying this router solved all the problems! I paid for the installation service as it would have taken me a while to get virgin hub into modem set up etc. This chap that came did it in 15 mins and even kept router ID and password the same so we didn’t have to re-connect devices. It’s added to quality of life as no more frustration on dropped zoom calls or buffering programmes on iplayer etc!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had to review this item the day that I got it! Where do I start?

Wi-Fi Range and speed: if your looking for a router that works just as fast at the back of the house a floor up through a few walls and ceilings. Then don’t look elsewhere. I’m on 1gig fibre and my iPhone Wi-Fi limits make it around 740mb connection possible due to the hardware limitations. Well that far away room I was getting 630-640mb and full Wi-Fi bars. When standard virgin router gave me 150-160mb. Standing next to router I was getting 620mb from virgin and 730-740mb from TP Link. My living room is a room away from router with a brick wall. Virgin gave me 400-500mb. TP Link? 710-720mb. Kitchen is at the back of the house but a nice line of sight to router. Virgin 450mb. TP? 660-670mb. Bottom line is there is less of a degregation the further you go away from the router, and that was key for me. In fact only room the Wi-Fi bars went down one on the iPhone was in kitchen on other side of the fridge. Kind of makes sense!

Performance: on speed tests with virgin, it would fluctuate a lot on google speed test/okla… TP? Worked first time every time. Upload speeds stayed consistent throughout the house at 51-52mb, virgin was always around 45-49mb

I could write more but RANGE alone FORCED me to write this review in joy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent spec, works flawlessly. Just one thing… if you have the new Virgin Media 1gig service don’t set this router to use 2.5Gbps on the WLAN port or it causes issues. Normal 1000 mode is fine. (No doubt the VM modem and the router will get a firmware update to fix this at some point)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBeing as a lot of routers are mixed together for clarity this review is for the Archer AX11000 with wifi6.

I am by no means an IT expert and I must of read 1,000’s of reviews of routers before deciding to purchase this one.

Yes it’s expensive, but is it worth it?

The short answer is … YES!

Like so many reviews from the UK I’m a Virgin Media customer. The router provided by virgin provides great speeds if you’re sat next to it. Go upstairs and it’s a very different story.

I opted for this router and I now have fantastic speeds all over my home. The attached screenshots show the speed to the router from the router’s app and then a speed test to my iPhone 11 Pro at the furthest point in my home.

If you have any devices with Wi-fi 6 capabilities then this router is well worth paying the extra for as you get a greater coverage area and faster speeds.

Set up was easy – open the box, download the app and follow the instructions. I also had to go into the router settings via a web browser to sort out the channels as I’ve split the bands as 2.4, Wi-fi 5 & Wi-fi 6.

You don’t need to and can combine them and let the router choose but I wanted to keep my iPhone on Wi-fi 6 rather than letting it choose for me.

I’ve also set the guest network up and this works well. With guest Wi-fi they don’t have any “local access” so can’t access the router settings. The guest Wi-fi is easily turned on and off via the app.

The router has antivirus built into it so it means all devices connected are protected, and best of all that’s free!

In short, if you’re looking for a future proof router with excellent speeds and coverage then this is hands down the best option. But like everything you get what you pay for. This is a premium product at a premium price.

Excellent speeds for a virgin media customer!

The TP link has truly done the job. I have done away with an Access Point router as this router blasts the whole house with WiFiand beyond. I’m a smart home gadget person and streamer with wireless IP cameras and have a gamer in the house. The router handles everything with ease.
Took a little getting used to the admin setup for port forwarding etc but that’s just because I’m used to Netgear.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFirstly, I’ve given 0 stars to tech support as I haven’t had to contact them.
We have sky fibre broadband which isn’t the fastest at the best of times. However, it’s the Wi-Fi on the equipment that they provide you with which is really bad. Our Wi-Fi keeps dropping out and only returns speeds of about 20 – 30 megabits per second so I was desperate to find a solution to the problem. sky sent me a booster to try and speed up the Wi-Fi around the house (which I had to pay for) and make it more stable, but it didn’t work, in fact it made no noticeable difference. Both of my son’s like to game in their bedrooms on PCs and games consoles etc. I won’t let them have a wired connection in the bedrooms because of all the hassle. I’m happy to be able to report that our Wi-Fi upstairs is now stable and returning speeds of 75 megabits per second!!! If you know sky broadband, you’ll no that’s an incredible speed for them.
If you want to maximise your broadband providers speeds and have a stable source of Wi-Fi with a strong signal, then this is the router for you. I recommend without hesitation.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood stable product, big, heavy and sturdy, a bit ugly design though, lots of settings. Nice and useful options. Remote access tethering with App. Nice interface, but needs more options for different hardware icons of what is actually connected type and model, they are editable if it is wrong but needs more different icons to choose from if it is wrong. Good range. Lots of RJ45 ports 8X, port aggregation, Access Control, DHCP IP address binding, VPN, WAN 2.5 mbps, fast speed USB C option to backup and sharing, Antivirus built-in and has shown already very useful from Trend Micro on several occasions. Ready for WPA3 wireless standard in future. AX wireless speeds of up to 10 gbps. Only IFTTT not working for me in this router despite taking this issue to TP-link support several times by Email and online community of TP-Link and stays unresolved. One star off because of this. If IFTTT working and is resolved, I will add another star.
