    The product is easy to install once installed and doesn’t after sync no password needed just links to the WIFI already in use. It’s a very smart product.

    Eventually worked really well but a bit confusing to set up in the first place. Joshua at TP-Link support live chat got it sorted for us. We had thought it worked as two wireless extenders, but note that the main Deco must be plugged in by Ethernet. Really good speeds now at both ends of a long house. The power line is probably responsible for that.

    I added to a M9plus system and there’s a few caveats on how it’s setup. Not obvious unless you trawl the forums and KB’s. Support was cr4p but I’m an IT pro so worked it out. Now it’s working okay I’m happy with overall performance. Almost sent it back as doesn’t mesh quite as well as advertised. Give it a seven out of ten, it’s not new tech anymore.

    These seem to be a decent mesh setup.

    I am using the power line backhaul to connect the master and secondary, which seems to be quick enough, but not tested the speed.

    Setup was easy following the app instructions.

    The only issue I have is that the app limits how much info you can get, and what you can do as a power user. It’s great for 90% of people probably, but I’d like a little more control personally.

    Installation is straightforward. There is a need to create a new WiFi identity rather than piggybacking your existing but this is straightforward. I will see how we get on with the two units before I consider further mesh hubs

    I have an outside store that is wired to the main house. I could not get the mesh WIFI to extend out to the garden and into the store. I changed one of the in-house Decos to a P9 and placed a second P9 in the store. Hey presto due to the powerline capabilities of the P9 I have mesh covering the house, the garden in between and the store.

    Easy set-up with reliable and dependent wifi. Automatic switching between units is a useful and welcome feature. I have 1Gb Virgin Media router … perfect ethernet, very poor wifi ,,, this is the perfect solution, all be it at extra expense. First time I’ve been able to get wifi sitting in my back garden.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was looking for a mesh WiFi system that didn’t break the bank and decided on this one.
    It took about 10 minutes to set up through the mobile app, which was very straight forward.
    My office used to be a WiFi dead spot and now I get great coverage.
    My set up is my virgin media router in the living room with one tp link next to it, and the other tplink is in the upstairs hallway.
    I’ve never noticed any drop outs when the WiFi switches between.
    If anybody joins your network, you get a notification which is a nice security feature.
    I am recommending this to my mother who has a larger house and will use the 3 pack

    I’m pleased to feedback that after nearly 2 and a half years my mesh system with 3 of these M5 devices is still going strong.
    I recently had a speed issue, which was quickly resolved by the TP Link Support team. I was very pleased to be able to connect almost immediately to a support person, who guided me step by step through several tests until the problem was identified.

    We bought this set to use as add ons to the set of three we already had. These are good but you definitely don’t get the coverage they advertise. We live in a three storey, three bed house and with one on each floor, we still had dead zones around the house. Also, despite having 500mbps internet speeds, these only ran at about 200 until we added the other two units. So they are great, but I’d definitely buy more than you should need to get the coverage and speed they claim. But they are very good at getting consistent WiFi to those trickier parts of the house.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis brand of MESH Wi-Fi system is amazing. So easy to set up. Just follow the guide included in the box. You don’t need settings from your internet provider. Just plug one of these units into your existing provider supplied router. Use the TP-link Deco app to create your new Wi-Fi network with your chosen name and password. Then just tell your Wi-Fi devices to connect to the new network. And tell them to forget your old network.
    And just add more of these units to your new network as you need, to expand the range of your signal.

    Had terrible issues with my mobile phone connection to Wi-Fi resulting in important lost calls. So far this has been excellent and I have perfect Wi-Fi connection throughout the whole house. Stylish design and very compact form factor which melds into the background. App made setting up very straightforward with clear communication. So far so good. Highly recommend.

    Added this to three E4 extenders. Had to “forget” existing network setup and start from the beginning as the M5 as the better extender had to be the main one attached to the router. Setup took minutes and make sure you follow the sequence in having the higher spec extenders as “leads”. Ie don’t have E4 to M5 at any point, always M5 to E4 etc.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have Virgin Media Wi-Fi, via a hub 3 router, with expected speeds of 130mbs, but have a Sky subscription using a Sky Q box and a Sky mini box. There’s plenty of complaints and concerns on the internet saying that trying to use these two systems causes poor connection and frequent dropouts, and I can testify to this, resulting in a poor overall experience.
    I initially bought triple pack of TP-link Deco M5 mesh Wi-Fi discs and set up the Wi-Fi mesh system by turning the hub 3 from router to modem mode, and then, using the app, connected the three discs, with an instant impact to Wi-Fi quality.
    My house is three stories with a rear extension and loft conversion.
    The app which is required to set up the mesh Wi-Fi is great at assessing the signal strength being provided, it showed that even though three hubs SHOULD, be adequate, there was still room for improving the overall Wi-Fi quality, hence I purchased two more discs.
    I now have robust 130+mbs Wi-Fi signal everywhere.
    More importantly, my Sky equipment is working perfectly and I now have MUCH higher internet speeds, as in close to maximum speeds all of the time.
    I appreciate I’ve spent around 260 to achieve this, but when I factor in what I pay a month for both of my Virgin/Sky subscriptions. I think this was well worth the initial expense, to get the experience I want.
    I am Not very tech savvy, but changing the Hub3 from router to modem was easy, with plenty of YouTube videos to help, the TP-link Deco M5 app, is SO easy to navigate and get the mesh Wi-Fi up and running, I just wish I did this months ago.

    he wifi made a huge difference when i placed one of the units on the second floor, before doing this i did a speed test in a few different parts of the house so i could compare. in the furthest bedroom ( not too far away) the download speed was 46, with the mesh it was 130, huge jump however, in an en suite it was 25 then with mesh it went down to 16, again in the garden before it was 9 with mesh it went to 0.2 which is very weird, i would have thought it would have been at least the same in those 2 locations.

    Mesh works great for WiFi on things like phones and tablets. However, I bought this for my PC as it’s too far a reach for my internet and I had very low speeds using the PC WiFi. I have had to use an ethernet from the 2nd M5 straight into my PC as it doesn’t ‘recognise’ my mesh network. Works fine via the ethernet so very happy with the speeds there, just disappointed that it still needed more wires than it suggested.

One is located next to my BT router which has wifi turned off and one in my upstairs office. I get 150Mbps downstairs and 114Mbps upstairs. The wifi is very stable and reliable, but a bit disappointing that I can’t get full speed upstairs. I made a rookie error when I first installed it with a low quality LAN cable, make sure any cables used support gigabyte LAN or you will be restricted to 100Mbps.

    Bought 4 Deco M5’s on advice from a techie mate. Poor Wi-fi in rooms most distant from the BT hub. (Max of 18 mbs as we are on a mile of copper cable, until fibre arrives next year).
    Regular loss of signal, wheel of doom etc.
    Since setting up the M5’s (with help from techie mate, as I’m a child of the valve era)
    We now get a solid 17/18 mbs everywhere in the house and well into the garden.
    Good kit, throughly recommended.

    I had a major Wi-Fi signal drops issue, the Deco M5 resolved that. I read loads of reviews before taking the plunge, I don’t regret taking that step at all. I have many Sonos speakers at home and was so annoying and frustrating when the signal drops while listening to something important on the radio. Easy to install and easy to extend Wi-Fi coverage when/if needed. Not sure about the Tech Support though, I haven’t had a chance to contact them, so nothing I can say about that.

    This really has solved all our WiFi issues. We could never get signal in the loft room or front bedroom of house but this little gadget reaches all these areas with full WiFi strength. One unit goes into the back of the modem and one is plugged in upstairs. It’s as close to plug and play as you can get – very simple set up via the app. The irritating LED is set to night time mode so no glaring lights at night. 4 days and no drop out – no drama.

    Bought extenders and new routers and was plagued with poor internet connection despite having a top virgin package. I bought a three pack of these and 2 singles and the signal is amazing. I have one in each of the kids rooms so they can hard wire their consoles and one also at the end of a 60 foot garden and have never had any issues with WiFi since. They are brilliant.

    Virgin router sent signal to about 20% of house.
    Apparently the router is very poor and not up to the standard the Virgin speed deserves.
    Virgin’s own boosters (company recognising that the router is poor) were out of stock for weeks.
    I don’t think these would have worked well anyway.
    But these Decos have increased the 20% to 100% plus garden and retained much of Virgin’s higher speed.
    It was more expense but we need the internet throughout.

    Most bundles come with a master and slaves – that if you wish to add more slave units starts to become an expensive solution. With this system all the units are physically the same so I purchased 2 packs to have as a single system for a property of about 2500 sq ft across 2 floors.
    To access most of the advanced features it has to operate in router mode which is a pain when you have other systems that use wifi such as SONOS – specially in legacy mode with its own dedicated channel.
    Operating as an Access Point they function really nicely providing good coverage and good performance resulting in approx 300Mbps internally and approx 75Mbps in the garden when 45 ft (15 mtrs) away from the nearest access point.

    I bought the TP-Link Deco P9 (two units) to improve wifi coverage in our 3 bed 1100 square foot flat as the basic Sky router could not cover all areas and was a little slow with two of us working from home. With just two P9 units we have gone from 1mbps in some areas to over 50mbps.

    Our garden had no wifi coverage at all once outside but now we have over 50mbps at the farthest point away from a P9 in the garden in comparison.

    Set up is very easy with the app and we were up and running within 15 mins. Recommend you setup an account with TP-Link before starting the setup process to help things move faster. The only challenge was getting our wireless printer setup on the new network. It did not like the default security setup so we had to change to the other option available but all ok in the end.

    After years of poor wifi with Virgin Media using their atrocious Hub 3, I decided to bite bullet and buy the M5 (2 pack). Whilst I resent having to fork out my money to improve their wifi issues I cannot fault this product and am now seeing speeds far in excess of anything I have received before.

    My advice to any Virgin Broadband customers is to ditch the Hub 3 and pick up some of these.

    Does not play nicely with SKY Q TV and Sky as your ISP. I have ended up keeping the sky router broadcasting its own SSID and only the SKY kit sits on that. All other devices connect via the Deco. The speed is faster, the app is great, it is a great system!! Just not if you want SKY Q on it. On review, the BT branded mesh are very good with SKY Q, or you do as I did and run the SKY SSID and run the TV system on that, and everything else on your new network,

    Lastly, my microwave (over 8M away from mesh disc) really affects the wifi badly. it never did with sky.. so a clash on the 2.4 band…

    Its good, just not excellent.

    Used these to add on to an existing set of 3 specifically to add Ethernet bridges to non wireless devices with the added benefit of extra signal.
    Absolutely brilliant.
    Anyone could install these.
    Great WiFi range.
    Any of them can be the first in the house or act as extenders.
    All devices so far have connected and not one has been problematic. This includes 2.4 and 5GHz devices and ones which are “picky”. Gave the same WiFi SSID and password as my router, it worked fine in conjunction but I turned off my routers WiFi for good measure and it works like a dream.

    I have been using M5 for 3 days and I should say it is amazing. No more switching between WiFi in different rooms and there is no drop of speed in comparison with the speed I get from router WiFi. The impressive part is the app which does a lot. It optimised your WiFi network so if it is congested will sort it out. That’s how I am getting the same speed as my main router after using that option in the app, before that The speed was not as good as the WiFi from the main router.

    I had serious problems with wifi connections upstairs, virgin media 100mb and upstairs speeds achievable were about 4-8 M/bs intermittently have used both boosters and powerline adaptors in past but this product has been a revelation with speeds upstairs rarely dropping below 70Mb/s now.

    These were super easy to install. I Would recommend using the virgin media hub 3 in modem mode, there are lots of show how videos online to help you do this. if you want a set up guide there’s lots on the VM forums just search “setting up Deco with virgin media” few handy guides featured.

    Devices are all transferring between the two with ease. I placed the second unit in the room above the first but in the other corner. Only downside is the small number of Ethernet ports as usually have the TV and Playstaion direct wired in but since the speeds are so good the TV not being wired hasn’t caused any issues.

    On paper these looked ideal & being TPLInk should have no issues. Our house setup is not simple as we have CCTV, games consoles, internet connected TV’s. laptops, PC’s, switches, smart speakers, tablets, wifi AP’s, ethernet uplinks to other parts of the house etc.

    I wanted to use these as a mesh system to replace our current wifi as wifi roaming in the house was an issue, these give you two options bridge your current ISP router & do all the router things or a more passive version where it runs wifi & other limited features.

    The first option to bridge the ISP wasn’t an option as it would be too much work to rebuild the whole network, the second passive option looked better as it seemed as if we could use the wifi features.

    The main hub went in ok, it creates a private network on its wifi & second LAN interface – this was a problem as I wanted to use our switch/cabling to place the second wifi hub elsewhere but as it was broadcasting DHCP & was upsetting the old network. The second hub would never connect to the primary over the LAN, it always used wifi and was laggy/slow, it seems if you want to use a cabled connection between the hubs it has to be direct and not shared.

    I sent these back as I couldn’t work with them without major changes, which is a shame as they have some great features.

    If your setup is quite simple they will work well, I’ve eventually found the eero & using them in a vserion of bridge mode (not ISP bridge) – they’re not as good but I have wireless mesh in the house.

Having struggled with WiFi dead spots around my house, I found the issues were getting worse given the demand being placed of internet providers with lockdown etc. I had originally bought a TP range extender which did the job but frequently dipped and caused me to lose connection frequently. I run a range of smart devices in my home across TV’s, speakers, lights, computers etc so I wanted something that could cope with the demand and reliably provide a stable connection and decent speeds for streaming etc. I read around the many complicated articles around mesh WiFi and settled on the TP Link Deco M5 given it seemed well reviewed and reasonably priced. I’m running Virgin WiFi and this was simple to integrate in my house. The app is easy to use and now I’m getting a reliable connection across my house with a speed I’ve never had before. Absolutely brilliant.

    Great coverage which I had not been able to achieve with other products.
    They only downside is doesn’t work well with sky Q boxes – had to leave the old wireless network active for the main sky Q box now all works well.

    Have lived with these for several weeks now and I’m thrilled with the difference to my wifi signal. No more black spots in the house, garage or garden. No more VPN dropping out midway through a conference call when WFH. Installation was simplicity itself and the app is a dream to use. I opted for the 2 unit pack and it provides WiFI coverage for the whole house and garden. Previously I’d tried WIFI repeaters and Powerline adapters but neither gave me the coverage of these two units. I later found out that Powerline adapters only pass the signal on the same electrical circuit and as most houses have several different circuits servicing different parts of the house they only work over a very limited number of rooms. I wish I’d known that before! In short, although they are not exactly cheap (although they are cheaper than the Google & BT alternatives) they are well worth the money. If you’re shelling out every month for high speed broadband do yourself a favour and get a couple of these to make sure you can avail of it wherever you are in the house

    Bought these 2 M5’s to complement my existing 3 indoors.
    I’ve installed one on a beam in the roof of my garage and now have seamless coverage there and in my garden.
    The other is still in the box. I may keep it as a spare (just in case) or sell it on later since they have a good warranty coverage.

    The more expensive models like [P7 & P9] have powerline, which relies on the quality of your mains rings, or the top priced M9 which has Tri-Band for the backhaul and a zigbee hub for certain smart home devices.

    I live in a bungalow which enables me to run ethernet cables easily. This is 100% the best solution for backhaul stability & speed! plus I already have Philips Hue, so don’t need the M9 which can’t control Hue lights.

    So I went for the M5’s over other models for their price which includes the homecare (Anti-virus) and can happily recommend them!

    All areas of our house now have decent Wi-Fi coverage & with a good speed. We previously had TP Link PoE which were always dropping out & had to be unplugged to get them back online.
    We’ve had one power cut since installing these & they come back online without the need for messing about unplugging them or having to start over.

    We’re on virgin 360 mb line with 36mb upload & that is pretty much the same using these devices on the 5g & around 80mb down on the 2.4 which is far better than the poor effort of a router virgin supply you with.

    Would I recommend this product? Yes

    Only 4 stars for value for money as I’ve seen the price of these go up & down on Amazon & I could have actually bought it for cheaper through Currys / PC world (at the time of this review).

    I had been using a powerful AC1900 router that provided fantastic speeds in its range, but even in a mid-sized terraced house struggled to push a signal to the far reaches the property. having looked at extenders and ruling them out due to poor reviews, performance and the need for a second SSID I decided to go with a mesh system. Best decision I have made in a long while.

    A two-pack of M5s easily covered my home, and every previously ropey spot now has fantastic speeds, so pleased I order a third just to push the wireless into my yard and garage area. And that’s the beauty, you can just add more coverage as you need/want. Compatibility with other TP-Link mesh systems is another plus if I wanted to upgrade again in the future, I could still integrate the existing units.

    Setup is a breeze through the app, that is very clear and has useful settings and facilities. My only gripe is that there is no WEB UI for controlling the network from a PC.

    Couldn’t be happier. If you are considering taking the plunge into a mesh network, going by my experience you won’t regret it.

    Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAfter many years suffering with a poor WIFI signal and strength with my Plusnet router I finally decided to put my hand in my pocket and buy this system.

    I live in a 4 bedroom new build property with blockwork on the groundfloor and metal stud and plasterboard on the first floor. I work from home so use one of my bedrooms as an office. Since moving into this office I have struggled to achieve a good WIFI signal. Generally the download speed was ranging from 9mb/s to 15mb/s, whereas at the router or through cable I could easily achieve 25 – 30mb/s which is the fastest I could get.

    Once received it was very easy to set up, took about 15 minutes following the instructions. I now have one upstairs in the study and one by my front door next my existing router. Instantly upon linking my machine I was getting a full strength signal and was achieving 25mb/s and this has been consistent since the install. I honestly cannot recommend this system enough. I no longer have my chromecast crashing or my PC struggling to upload things to the cloud it really has been a revelation.

    The hardest thing to install on the new mesh system was my Sonos speeaker. In order to get this to work I had to plug it in with a cable to get it to recognise the router. Once installed and recognised it could then be moved via the WIFI system it just needed a bit more TLC then everything else.

I live in a 2000 sq ft flat but with very thick internal walls (it is a very old refurbished building). My BT Super Hub was delivering 300mbps next to the router, but dropped off substantially from room to room.
    My first two TP-Deco M5s solved the problem in the two nearest rooms but didn’t help in the two more distant rooms. So I got two more. These did the trick but it did not mean I got the very high speeds in the more distant rooms. I am still getting around 300 mbps in the rooms closest to the router but the speed in the most distant room is about 50 mbps. Good enough for what I need but not a miracle.
    The software is pretty simple to operate. The only small complaint is that it took me a while to find the tiny plus sign which enabled me to add the second set of two units.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersVery easy to install – and worth spending a bit of time adjusting the ‘Quality of Service’ settings to ensure devices that require a very consistent signal (e.g. Chromecast and gaming machines) are prioritised over less critical devices like smart switches. Guest network option and parental settings are a useful bonus. I bought a third unit to add to this pair as our 3-floor house wasn’t quite covered by just two units but now the network has settled combined coverage is very good and significantly better than it was with power-line signal boosters.
    Would have given Deco five stars but the wifi signal can be a bit spiky when there’s a high load on the network (as detected using a line speed app on a mobile). Not a show-stopper, though.

    Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersHaving purchased many pieces of kit over the years from Access Points, to Homeplug/Powerline connectors, to Wireless Homeplug/Powerline connectors it was time to go for something that would span the house (we are in a bungalow) and was of the one product and brand.

    I have been very pleased with the Deco’s, granted they are expensive but I did purchase them on a daily deal at reduced cost. Had the cost not been as low I think I would have been hard pushed to spend the full price on them.

    My layout probably wouldn’t be seen as typical, as my IT security is managed in a different and separate way, as such I am using these in Access Point mode so some of the features (such as the Antivirus) are disabled when you don’t have these set as doing the entire routing (you can switch between the different options in the app).

    I found them pretty easy to setup, again I wouldn’t be a novice, IT is my business, so any issues I experienced I would have dealt with myself without the need for additional support from TP-Link.

    Coverage is very good, there are no longer any ‘not-spots/blackspots’ in the home (circa 2400 sq. ft) so it does the job as intended.

    The app is good and it has recently been improved as you can now manage both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands, which is something you couldn’t do in the past which was a complete pain. Previously if you had any device that operated over the 2.4Ghz band exclusively you would have experienced issues connecting to the Wi-Fi. The Deco’s supports both collectively but the 5Ghz always got in the way, the fact you can now you can switch the 5Ghz off to connect your 2.4Ghz products and then switch it back on again is a real bonus and will no doubt alleviate a lot of frustration with older equipment.

    One issue I did find was that I wanted to add a further single unit in the Garage to broadcast down the far reaches of the garden. I purchased a further two pack from Amazon but for the life of me they would not connect to my existing cluster. Through fighting with the product, I found the issue, the ones I received, although looking the same, were in fact a previous revision/version to the ones in use. There was my issue, incompatibility with improved features! I therefore returned them to Amazon and received a refund.

    The lesson to learn here, if you are extending the network by installing additional units you will need to make sure they at least match your current revision or are newer, failing that you may have to start from scratch and use the lower revision as a baseline, it may work, but is it worth it! I don’t think you can stipulate which revision you want from Amazon but if you are fighting with adding new units check the base of your existing units for the revision number and then do the same with the add-ons, this may be your problem.

    So all in all I am personally very pleased with the Deco M5’s.

    (Note – 5 stars for app improvement, or it would have been 4 stars for the incompatability of device revisons).
    Note 2: This review is for the 3 piece set (the same as the 2 but with another unit), the 2 piece is the one with the older revision that I received as detailed above.

    Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersMy house has a number of dead spots, upstairs in the back room, outside. I bought this to get wifi in the summer house 60 feet down the back garden. Only thing I did think was annoying is first (and only) page of the instruction manual, you have to download an app to install, what if you have nothing to down load it on? I am not IT savvy at all, cant even get e-mail on my phone but this was a doddle to install. Unplug power from router, leave off for a couple of minutes. Plug in TP and turn power back on. Only tricky bit is app asks what router you have, I had no idea so presumed, if it was clever, it would default to the right one so kept going. Down to the summer house to plug in second TP, within two minutes we were up and running, four bars – hooray. Results are instant and I now have wifi all over the house.

    Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI use this wireless system with a virgin media super hub 2. So far so good.

    When you receive this set you initially can’t help but think that these are premium. Very nice packaging, good solid inserts and that suction feel as you lift the lid.

    Installation was easy. I simply put my superhub into modem only mode and connected these up. Note you must do this for them to work correctly otherwise they interfere with each other.

    I have one downstairs and one upstairs. And I now get WiFi everywhere in my house.

    I previously used range extenders which don’t seem to work with virgin very well but these do their great.

    Speeds are brilliant and it’s all managed from and App which notifies you every time a new device connects to your network so you will know if you need to change your password. (note no one i haven’t given the password to has connected to the network).

    Antivirus seems good although I wouldn’t say it’s a replacement for having it on your actual devices.

    I would definitely recommend this system.
