I have tried other makes and ended up pulling my hair out trying to connect them to my system. Within 10mins I had this up and running buy it and keep the hair it’s a good product.
I am absolutely thrilled with this smart thermostat! It has completely transformed the way I manage my home’s temperature and energy usage. The installation process was straightforward, and the user interface is incredibly easy to navigate. I love being able to control the temperature of my home from my phone no matter where I am. Plus, the thermostat’s learning features have helped me save money on my energy bills by automatically adjusting the temperature when I’m not home. Overall, this smart thermostat has exceeded my expectations and has been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their home’s heating system.
I’m a big fan of this radiator valve. We use this to control the temperature in our son’s room. It’s very comforting knowing that the temperature will stay around what you set it to and stop his room from either getting to hot or not warm enough.
We originally tried the Eve equivalent, but the app support and ease of use it so much better.
Great value for money, especially when discounted. It’s also super easy to install and use.
It does not call for heat from the boiler / nest system we have installed. It’s a stand alone product that just gives room by room control of the temperature when the heating it scheduled to come on.
We have 5 around the house switching lights on and off at various times. An excellent timer which you can control from your phone wherever you are. Love this product and highly recommend
Works so well and for the price its perfect.it fits any 13 amp socket and easy to programme
Very useful to switch on the electric blanket from warm downstairs so ready when I hit the icy upstairs! Very pleased with this – I had initially wondered about what I would use such a thing!
Slim, work well, have a lot of these and will add more as requried.
Great little product that keeps virgin router working by restarting it in the early morning every Sunday. Stores schedule in the device rather than being reliant on the internet network. Has been reliable and running for about a month now.
Want to save electricity definitely recommend this I have 3 the app is also easy to use very easy to set up save money around 60 pound a year well worth i
Have got this power strip set up in the office, so that I can control the portable heater and a few other devices.
It’s great that you can control each socket individually, and I’m even able to integrate it into home assistant for more control.
Works straight out the box ,l have 5 units and all work well ,don’t forget you need a hub to work with these but hub easy to set up aswell no problem highly recommend
Does what is expected. Good price in comparison to Hive plug but not as easy to enter preset times.
Good product but it does not last very long. After about a year of use, the relay inside the device can get stuck in active state. To get the device back to normal operation, you need to unplug the device, shake it and plug it back. Or you can get a new one. Not ideal.
Works perfectly with my Google Home set up. Has never let me down.
Didn’t work out of the box with Alexa. Took a while to integrate. Works well once set up
I have lots of these plugs around the house, on one socket alone I have 6 gadgets on standby now with this the extension lead plugs in to one WiFi plug one touch on phone all switched off, plus having timers you can set things to come on and go off, very reliable not had one fail yet in over 2yrs..
It’s a very good wifi bulbs with good connectivity. Important thing is, no need of any home base. Works from anywhere in the world through their App.
Delivery prompt.
Love these plugs have app on my phone. Easy to connect and set timer to suit own needs. Great price.
A little bit clumsy to set up but quite good once you do
I have to say I already have 4 TP-Link HS100 smart plugs, which I have been great. This one is a great upgrade not least for the fact it is so much smaller. You can use it with an extension lead and get a plug in the socket next to it, which you can’t do with the HS100. The other great function is you can set a schedule that works independently from your WiFi. That might not seem a biggy till you realise that means you can schedule a time to reset your router and modem without having to be there. The plug will remember the schedule even without a WiFi signal like a normal timer plug.
Setup lights for sunset timing – no need to adjust throughout the year!
The bulb used to come with an adapter, so it didn’t matter whether you had an Edison or a bayonet fitting, it would fit straight out of the box. I purchased an adapter separately for less than 2, but it would have been nice if TP link still included one as standard.
Onto the bulb. It’s an economical smart, which has so far proved to be reliable. We have this in the loft, and it is working out very well. It hasn’t lost connection once.
An inexpensive and good quality smart solution. Recommended.
I recently purchased the TP-Link Kasa WiFi Power Strip with 3 outlets and 2 USB ports, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with its performance! This power strip has exceeded my expectations in every way possible, and I would give it a 5-star review without hesitation.
Firstly, the setup process was incredibly easy and straightforward. I opened the Kasa app on my phone and followed the step-by-step instructions to connect the power strip to my WiFi network. Within minutes, I had full control over all the outlets and USB ports on the power strip.
The build quality of this power strip is great. The strip itself is made of high-quality materials, and the plugs and sockets feel very sturdy and secure. I love the compact design of the strip, which makes it easy to fit in small spaces and keeps my desk or countertop looking neat and tidy.
The three outlets and two USB ports are incredibly useful, allowing me to power and charge multiple devices at once. The USB ports provide fast charging for my phone and other devices, and the outlets can handle my connected devices with ease. I also appreciate the individual on/off buttons for each outlet, which allow me to conserve energy and reduce standby power consumption.
Finally, the smart features of this power strip are a real game-changer. With the Kasa app, I can set schedules, create scenes, and even control the power strip with my voice using Alexa. I can turn off all my devices with just one tap, and I can also monitor energy usage to help reduce my energy bills.
Overall, I would highly recommend the TP-Link Kasa WiFi Power Strip to anyone looking for a high-quality, reliable, and versatile power strip. This product has truly exceeded my expectations, and I am sure it will exceed yours too!
We have two rooms in our house that are used for Hybrid working for only three days a week. I can now have complete control over the heat input in those two rooms and allow for quick over riding when required. Ok, they are not cheap but they will pay for themselves in a short period of time with energy prices the way they are and I will add more to my system so that I can turn the bedrooms down during the day and then boost the heating for getting up and going to bed. I’ve always been delighted with TP Link products and have not been disappointed with these. Be aware that they need a Kasa hub which you can get in a starter pack. This hub, although it looks identical to the Tapo hub does not cross over the TP Link brands.
UPDATE Had the metal body of the valve replaced and the TP Link TRV is doing a great job of controlling the temperature as the valve actually can close… I just leave it set to 22 degrees.
ORIGINAL As has been mentioned before, these do not integrate with the control of the boiler. These limit the temperature of the room according to your setting, however, depending on how the system is balanced, the insulation of the room and how quickly it takes to heat rooms there is the option to get a higher temperature than that of the room stat.
Our wireless smart stat is in the coldest and largest room, it could do with with an additional or larger radiator. The radiator is fully open and runs hot but barely raises the room temperature, therefore the smart thermostat is set to 19.5 degrees. All of the other rooms have TRV and are capable of heating way above 19.5 due to the difference between the above variables and a bountiful supply of circulating hot water.
Our living room is warm enough most of the day without heating, therefore a TRV is useful to limit the room to 22 degrees whilst the coolest with the smart stat struggles to get to 19.5.
Unfortunately, regardless of TRV head I have tried in the lounge, there is a few degrees of overshooting the desired 22, I’m suspecting there’s a fault with the actual metal valve or the lockshield valve.
This electronic TRV is dynamic in it’s activation which is working better at controlling the temperature than the standard versions. It’s quite quiet too. The app allows 6 times zones or leave it on a manual static temperature.
The app is quite straightforward. I would like a boost function to allow a brief time for the valve to fully open as another brand version does.
I agree with others that these are ideal for zoning off rooms for unwanted hours of the day. I will probably buy another few for the bedrooms.
Does as advertised. Using it mostly to timer heating blanket as I want to fall asleep without having to worry about the electricity bills! 30 min timer does the job. Nice clean app on phone easy to instal and navigate.
A bit pricey for what it offers, as other brands do the same product , similar rather, with half the price. Sometimes you can get it on discount. If you do, go for it, but I would never pay 55pounds for 2.
It’s bulky and sticks out a lot. Doesnt cover the second outlet, but it’s very obvious and can’t be missed.
Mine is next to my bed, sticks out too much, I have kicked it in my sleep once or twice.
However, would purchase again.
The Kasa Smart Thermostat Radiator Valve Starter Kit arrived next day, it consists of a small “hub” , (for the TRV network) which links with your Wi-Fi router and a TRV. Initially I had a problem as I could not “pair” the Kasa Hub to my router via the Kasa App on my phone. After many abortive attempts I phoned Tp-Link Support just after 5pm hoping to get a call at least logged before the end of the working day. I was most impressed with the attitude of the support staff I was in contact with. The agent would just not let go and we were still in touch at 10pm, In the end I decided to uninstall the App and reload it from the Google Store. Having reinstalled the App the installation of the hub and the TRV went like a dream! All up and running in seconds!
The valve and the App are very easy to use and provides endless options to set up heating programmes on individual radiators. One thing you have to work out is the “Temperature Offset” on each valve. This is because the valve reads the temperature in its immediate vicinity, which is a very hot radiator! and you want to set a temperature for the room. Depending on the location of the radiator, behind a sofa or out in the open will give different results. This takes a bit of trial and error.
A second TRV arrived the next day and that was a seamless experience, as was the integration with Alexa! I would like to get some more Kasa Smart TVRs for other rooms in the house, but unfortunately they have old Drayton TVRs fitted to them and although the Kasa valves come with 3 different adaptors, none of them are suitable, so I have to try and find a source of suitable adaptors before proceeding!
I also have a number of Tapo Mini Smart Wi-Fi Sockets which also work very well and I hope that Tp-Link will at some stage produce a boiler controller to integrate with their valves.
Manage your expectations and you will be pleased with your purchase. Know what you are buying and how it will integrate with you existing system.
I have a hive thermostat this sets the overall temperature available to system. Depending what you have set the hive to and at what temp will impact all additional KASA valves.
They are good at switching the radiator on and off remotely.
They are good at running schedules that you want (Provided your hive is programmed accordingly)
For example if you work from and are in alone for most of the day take the hive thermostat in to your working room shut down all the other valves remotely and only heat the room you are working in.
I was really impressed with the HUB reached all radiators on my system with no issues.
The whole set up was quick and straight forward my system has 1 hub and 6 valves and all work as expected.
Alexa integration works well and each device adds itself automatically as you install it.
I am happy to recommend these to anyone thinking about buying.
The WiFi Power Strip 3 is a handy little gadget that’s great for automating my 3-D printers from my bedroom. It has 3 outlets, so you can control multiple devices with just your voice or your phone. It’s super easy to set up. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it with your voice commands.
The USB ports are not controllable over Wi-Fi.
Been moving more towards Kasa plugs for automation as they seem to be a lot less of a faff to setup than other types of home automation equipment. They also seem to be stable and available at all times. Definitely they do not seem to regularly fall off the WiFi and then require 30 minutes of trial and error to get them back on it. Got a number of plugs and lights before these but found I was running out of sockets to use them in. Saw these as a way around that limitation. They feel really well built and were really easy to set up. Literally out of the box and working in the app within 5 minutes without the drama I always get with other makes. I bought 2 so now I can control 6 power sockets from my phone. Alexa integration works OK too but I tend not to use Alexa that much so I leave that area to other reviewers. All I can say is that I asked Alexa to turn them on and it did. I think tplink have a good product here. I will be buying more.
My family has loads of tplink kasa plugs, cameras and lightbulbs and by and large they all work well – but there are a few niggles
1) Sometimes they are difficult to set up – because the phone can’t lock onto the devices local wifi. Sometimes Android phones fail and iphones then work easily; sometimes it’s the other way round.
2) Once set up, the smart plugs and cameras lose wifi signal very, very rarely. With the bulbs, positioning can be more of a problem – even when the wifi transitter is close.
and finally
3) tp link is clearly now pushing its Tapo range at the expense of Kasa (look at prices and availability) which, for us at least is a shame.
But overall, if you can set them up ok, position them carefully, and not worry too much about the future, they are pretty good.
As a previous review has said, these TRVs will not integrate with smart heating thermostats, such as Nest. Please Kasa, bring you own to market asap.
However, I see these as a temperature limiter. Meaning I have full control to reduce the heating in rooms I’m not using. I.e. the bedroom, I can set this so the room is allowed to heat up for an hour in the morning, and 2 hrs in the evening, and at all other times, when we’re not using the room, the radiator can be switched off.
Installation was so easy, with not tools required. I had manual TRVs on all my radiators, so it was a case of turn to the highest setting, undo the silver collar, then whip it off. Then follow the instructions to install the Kasa TRV. Took less than 10 mins per TRV,
I love how the Kasa app works with these. You can add loads of increase/decrease of temperature in one day. And you can even have different settings on Sat, Sun, Mon to Fri. But you just need to remember, the temp can only go as high as what you’ve set your main house thermostat to.
They are compact and as they are about the same width as a normal plug, they fit alongside other plugs in a 4 / 6 way extension adapter.
Android App easy to install and set up. A minor faff to set up initially but once you’ve done one, any others are fairly quick.
Schedule was easy to set up, and its great to be able to set a lamp to come on at sunset and turn off at sunrise.
Its reassuring to be able to view their status on the app. I also like the manual override button on the side – for example if one has a bedroom light plugged in that isn’t due to come on until later but you want it on now, instead of having to spin up the app and switch on from there, a quick press of the button on the side does the job.
I haven’t integrated them with the Alexa app yet so can’t comment on that.
Having had mechanical timer switches in the past, its great to have silence and the ability to vary the schedule.
I have been using them for 2-3 days on different devices to see how much power they use. I set up a group called ‘Save Power’ of items that use the most power on Standby and don’t need to be on at night. I transfer them to my older non-energy monitoring smart plugs and have a routine for the group set to turn them off just after bedtime and just before getting up. That’s a third of the day where I am not wasting energy and so money.
Pros
====
* Simple to set-up and use via the Kasa app.
* Works with Alexa.
* Works with Home Assistant and it will show power consumption in the dashboard.
* They use barely any power themselves so I am happy to leave them on at the switch.
* Shows power usage for Today, Past 7 Days, Past 30 Days.
Cons
====
* You cannot reset the power monitoring to zero when you use it for a different device, so the cumulative figures for the past 7 and 30 days are not accurate if you change devices.
Summary
========
I bought one to test, now I have four! Great purchases, especially when we need to be vigilant about energy costs.
I gave 4/5 stars due to not being able to reset the monitoring to zero.
