Excellent product used to help the quality of WiFi at the back of the house after having a new WiFi router fitted at the front of the house. Works well and easy to set up!
I am very happy with the TP-Link WiFi for my home router it was very easy to setup and download the app so you can set time for switch on and off it’s a great quality item
I initially give this a bad review, I now take it back, it is good, I had to give it a full reset by sticking a pin in the reset hole, hold it for 12 seconds until the lights flash, plug it back in close to the original router and go through the set up instructions again…if it doesn’t work the first time just be patient and try agai
It was really easy to set up, there are 3 ways of setting this extender up, the tether app, web browser or the WPS button but I went for the tether app and it was very easy. Took less than 5 minutes and my outdoor camera with the lowest signal strength was boosted to full strength but I had to reconnect the camera to the WIFI-EXT. so any appliance with little or no strength has to be connected to the extender on your wifi list to get the booster strength. This extender is so good that with my router being downstairs and the extender in my room upstairs, I got full strength on the tp pink extender and at the price? This is really a case of don’t judge a book by its cover so don’t judge this extender by its price.
When it first arrived I set it up which was simple enough, however it caused a problem where it was stopping any other device connected to the router from accessing the internet. After a bit of searching I found a solution online, updated the firmware with a Beta update from the TP-Link website. Working perfectly now so I am happy, good signal and no issues.
Fairly straight forward to use once everything was connected through the phone app.
Struggled to get a the signal strength lights to illuminate at the start so had to do a hard reset using a pin and it’s reset button…… but second go it worked and I’m getting around a 50% stronger signal upstairs according to my WiFi strength app on my phone
I had issues getting good connection to my home office as it was the other side of the house to my router, and upstairs. I saw this extender for under 12 and the reviews spoke for themselves. I thought its worth a try … turns out this is absolutely brilliant!! Well worth the money excellent value and very quick set up through the app no issues. Completely solved our connection issues very pleased I ordered it. 100% recommended.
The TP-Link N300 WiFi Extender offers reliable coverage for everyday tasks like streaming and social media browsing, making it ideal for normal users like myself. While it does reduce internet speed by approximately 50%, which might not be suitable for work or gaming, it depends on individual needs. For me, it’s a perfect fit, but its suitability ultimately depends on the user’s specific requirements.
Im using it from my sky router to my bedroom upstairs.
Signal just from the sky router indicates the signal strength was marginal and quality poor.
Using the booster it indicates the signal strength Very Good and quality Very good.
Makes a big difference for me
So cheap! But so good! My Ring doorbell wasn’t getting enough wifi signal to work properly. Drove me mad! I done some research and then found this. I simply plugged it into the passageway plug socket near to the front door, followed the very easy instructions, and voila! No more signal issues. It’s even perked up my signal around other places in the house too.
It does the job of extending the WiFi range to some extent. Example, my WiFi speed test shows 60Mbps download speed near main router, and the extender is 20 feet away from main WiFi router. Because of the extender I get 10Mbps speed 10feet from the extender, where the main WiFi router gives 1 Mbps.
So you get the idea, it extends to some extent and its value for money
With wifi providers having a get out of jail free card when the signal doesn’t reach from their router blaming your house and offering an “upgrade” to fix, this is just the job.
Lots of brownie points when I got Mum’s iPlayer working again.
Recommend
This works amazingly well and is super easy to get up and running. You plug it in close to your router using the tp link app, then just add it to your routers wifi and it’s paired and ready to go. You then plug it in near your dead zone and check the LEDs to see if the signal is strong or not. I have a dead zone in my office upstairs which is my reason for buying. I plugged this in at the top of the stairs, got full signal and now have perfect WiFi in my office. I have young kids so can’t leave it plugged in all the time or they would be playing with it. I did worry that when I unplugged this it would take a while to re connect. It doesn’t though as it reconnects instantly! Perfect for my usage and works perfectly.
Easy 2 set up, great price….once set up u will need 2 connect 2 the WiFi with EXT on the end for it 2 actually work and for you 2 benefit from it. I have it in my kitchen so it allows me 2 use Internet freely in my nail shed around 6 meters distance, before i would loose any connection 2 the WiFi as its the other end off the house. Now the booster is there I don’t have a problem and automatically switches from main WiFi 2 EXT WiFi. Would highly reccomend.
I bought this to boost the signal from main router, which was situated in ground floor and i install this on 1st. It work amazingly. Few things i notice in order for this to work properly.
1. Distance between main router and repeater should be in good range, good thing is in app you have an option to see this.
2. Your main router should be off good brand.
3. There might be a chance the DNS settings may conflict which later drop the signal of main router again and again, so you need to reconfigure the repeater.
I had some trouble accessing and setting up my router but thanks to Glen Ford in customer service I was soon able to connect everything, I’m looking forward to seeing how good the product is now!
Upon unpacking this thing you realise just how well made and how BIG it is. This is a substantial unit built and designed to do it’s job well, which it does.
Setting up was a bit of a pain though, but not too much. There are 3 ways to set it up: first is their app which you download on to your phone, the second is to use their website and the third is the WPS button. So I tried the app. What a waste of time. The instructions are to connect to ‘the’ WIFI but it doesn’t tell you which one. So I connected the app to my home WIFI with passwords and everything, nothing. Then I connected it to the TP-Link WIFI (both of them because this is dual band) and again nothing. So if I were you, do what I did and just press the WPS button on your router and the Link and bingo! You’re on!
This thing is so powerful! I placed it at the other end of the house and connected the security camera I got from Wish to it. The process was effortless. Next I connected my Firestick to it, again effortless. The signal strength is amazingly powerful. I’m sure the signal could link up with NASAs Mars Rover if they needed me to!
This is a modern, well built extremely powerful and easy to set up (if you just press the buttons) WIFI extender and I highly recommend i
Just make sure you connect to the “Ext” or “Ext Ext” (if you have two of these working together) when you’re searching for internet connections and not just your normal router with no “Ext” next to the name. They loose a star for assuming I understand all the nerdy language on the app, which doesn’t clearly show what is going on.
The initial set up is straightforward as plug and play. After 8 months of use there was a glitch and I reset the extender. I then had a number of issues so contacted Tp-Link. They replied immediately and set up a call with one of their experts in the UK who guided me through the reset. Very good extender and extremely good service.
Using two of these as access points, managed via app on my smartphone. they are brilliant.
Very simple to set up and works fantastically! We now have full signal in spots where we had little to none before.
Brilliant produc
Easy to set up and provided good coverage in the rooms where the main router struggled to reach.
Having a great wired internet but poor wifi in my house was frustrating, took a chance and ordered one of these , so easy to install , and has made a huge difference , gone from 0 to full bar in my front room now, well worth i
First of all, my house is quite large, sorry it just is. We had problems with the WiFi not reaching the devices/tv’s in one area of the house. I bought this little gadget, set it up, plugged in and hey presto we have WiFi in the whole ground floor.
The router is upstairs, I plugged the extender in downstairs approximately 7 metres away from the router, there’s a smart tv a further 7 metres away from the extender at the back end of the house, this tv now works fine.
As far as setting it up is concerned, there’s an app that you download (like everything now) which seemed pretty easy to fathom, and if I can set up something online/app/mobile phone related anybody can, believe me there are captive dolphins that have been trained to use an i phone better than me. All in all I’d say buy one, apparently you can link more than one which may be the next task for the loft rooms.
Once connected it works well, every once in a while I had to reset and start agai
I purchased this to use some WiFi connected light bulbs. I was a bit wary that the installation process might be difficult given some of the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was. I had the extender up and running in the location I wanted it in less than five minutes.
The instructions included in the box were straightforward and the app was clear and easy to use. Highly recommended.
So good I bought 3 ! Much more efficient, and far easier to get going, than my fiddly old BT Hotspot. Living in an old house with very thick stone walls, even my Truespeed signal couldn’t reach all parts of the property. These extended the signal to the furthest depths, strong enough to be able to stream with no problem. Easy peasy to get working, and great that once linked to your WiFi you can move them from socket to socket with no need to reprogramme.
Really helped with wifi signal in my room. Set up didn’t work initially but once reset it was fine
I bought this thinking it would be pretty useless but thought I couldn’t go too wrong with the price if it was no good. The WiFi in the house can be sketchy at best and upstairs it just does not work at all. UNTIL…..I bought this. It works perfectly. I can stream my Sky Glass TV perfectly from it whilst also browsing the internet. I have placed it half way between the router and where I need it and it is perfect. Super easy to set up, works brilliantly and so much cheaper than some of the extenders on the market. Well worth trying!
Brought this extender as had very poor to no Wi-Fi in the new attic conversion. Connected via the app as eps didn’t work on my own router, that took 2 mins and was all self explanatory. Once connected you can place the extender plug anywhere within range of existing Wi-Fi.
I placed it at the top of the stairs and this boosted the signal via a new wifi signal in the attic floor with full bar. Speed test was excellent and kids connected and no issues.
Like the app feature is control the lighting and also auto power off of the plug so it can turn off over night on a schedule. Decent light at night if required.
Very good purchase would recommend to anyone. It extends your own wifi via a new wifi connection but uses the same password for convenience.
Takes less than 10 minutes to set up if you use the WEP button on your internet hub The signal strength is much better in the room upstairs we had a problem with
Only downside is the internet speed via the wi fi extender has reduced significantly. For the price still in my view is good value for money
Seems to work fine. Creates a second network that you can connect devices to in the extended area and hooks up all the traffic to your main WiFi network.
A bit of faffing download the TP Link App, registering for an account and then configuring the Range Extender, but seems to work fine.
We live in a very old long cottage with extremely thick stone walls throughout. These connect to our TPLink router which is set up at one end of the house right through to the furthest room and give good connectivity. They were easy to set up, we bought two to reach the full length of the house. With these in place we have now cancelled our landline and have found this system works better than our old BT broadband! So we now use a data only SIM card in the router and use of free calls on our mobiles, cutting our monthly bill in half!
I was so surprised at how effective this is, especially considering the price.
We live in a maisonette that was built in the 1960s, I don’t know what the building material is made of but it is terrible for WiFi signals. It works on the ground floor but functions at 10-25% capacity upstairs.
Virgin offered to rent us a WiFi extender at an additional20 per month. However the representative recommended buying one to save money. We paid more than twice the price of this one, and could never figure out how to set it up.
After looking at all the reviews for this one I decided to give it a go on a whim. For the price I wasn’t risking much, and I could always return if it didn’t work.
It was delivered in less than 24 hours with Amazon Prime and it literally took 20 minutes to set up.
To set it up you just download an app called tether, register and connect it to your WIFI on your phone.
Then you plug in the device, it connects automatically to the app and you link it to your WIFI network.
You create a new password, and it transmits a new WIFI network to connect to. My explanation sounds way more complicated than it is.
The speed is marginally slower than using the WiFi downstairs, but we don’t really notice. The internet speed tracker shows a 10% difference. But our speed upstairs is now 90% faster than it was yesterday.
We can now watch Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon Prime upstairs with no problem. And we can finally play Call of Duty in the bedroom.
I am genuinely shocked at how well it works for the price. I may edit or amend this review in a few months if there are any problems that arise, as it’s only day 1 and perhaps too early for a proper review.
But so far so good.
It does what it says on the box, it has a 3 year guarantee and it’s cheaper than the price of a pizza.
How on earth they can build devices like this and sell them at such a low cost I do not know, but I am so thankful that they can. It’s not quite cheap as chips, but not far off!
And it’s well built too. The device seems fairly sturdy, and has quite a sleek and stylish design. It doesn’t feel cheap.
If it dropped off a balcony I’m sure it would smash to pieces. But I’m fairly certain it would survive a fall down the stairs.
And lastly, when you unplug it, it reconnects to your router automatically.
Overall very happy so far.
Finding somewhere to put this was probably the hardest part. I have a dark zone in my flat where the signal is a little more than iffy (and it just happens to be in the corner where I record my podcast weekly). It’s fine when I am recording alone, but when I have a guest and the signal is constantly cutting out it’s frustrating, which is where this booster comes in. It was recommended on the Virgin Media website, so I went for this one over the one that was three times the price and seemed to have the same specifications. The signal has improved – though it’s still not 100% and weirdly a spot where I thought it would be ideally placed turned out to be somewhere where it couldn’t receive any signal. The instructions aren’t totally straightforward, but after setting up an account and checking out the website I was able to figure it out.
Configured on 22/02/2022 with host router Virgin Media Hub 3
First wasn’t happy that Amazon had supplied hardware version 1 when version 2 is now available. The price 59.99 for a version 1 device seems a tad high.
Initially configured it as an Wifi Extender using the TP-Link Tether mobile app which was simple enough. First time the 2.4 GHz blue light wouldn’t turn on even though I was able to use the 2.4 GHz extended wifi. Reset it to factory default and reconfigured it and now the 2.4 GHz blue light works.
Using it as a WiFi extender is a bit of a hit and miss. Internet bandwidth is sometimes very low even standing next to extender on both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz frequencies. At times the client device shows its connected but has no internet.
I would have returned it if I could only use it as an extender, but I had bought the RE605X to use as an internet Access Point (AP). I have ethernet cables running from the Virgin Media Hub 3.0 to the selected location for the Extender to allow this.
Set my laptop on the extended WiFi SSID and logged in to the web browser TP-link app. I changed the following to set it as an AP :
1. In Network, set the IP address of the extender to use a static IP address
2. In Network, set DHCP Server to OFF as I believe it cannot be used with Access Point (and I didn’t want it to clash with the Hub 3 DHCP server.
3. Changed the operation mode to “Access Point” in Mode (top right of the configuration screen). This will reboot the device.
Once rebooted, the extender works brilliantly. I get excellent WiFi coverage and bandwidth at all the previous dead spots and in some cases its the router’s max bandwidth.
I also downloaded and upgraded the firmware on the extender.
Early days, so will monitor if it continues to work as an excellent Access Point and update my review.
However only buy it if you can use it as an Access Point. Its very flaky as just a WiFi extender.
