The router works very well, and does its job. The TP-Link AX7800 Tri-band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router has taken my internet experience to a whole new level, with blazing fast speeds across the whole house.
I needed to contact technical support to set up IPV6. The team were tremendously helpful, including Cassiel, who was very pleasant and sorted out the problem perfectly.
Although the price was a bit move than I wanted to spend. I glad I did.
Easy to set up. Where it is currently in the flat it gives great coverage in all rooms and the back garden.
The moveable antenna really is a good feature as it allowed me to move them to give me the best signal.
I have great spend when in wireless. Use it for the tv, xbox, lap tops and phones.
I have had no issues with it. Currently been using it since Ocotober last year.
No need for a lot of babble. Look at all the good reviews and I completely stand by them.
Replaced an aweful HUB4 by Virgin with this beast, and speeds have boosted tremendously, back on t’internet as it should without the usual VM weekend and weekday glitches due to their poor choice in electronics…
Highly recommended.
Also used the one mesh with one of their expanders, house is fully covered, including the garden garage studio!…360 mbps in the garage studio by WiFi 6…beat that VM…
I need a Great 6E Router with onboard VPn features and custom DNS options to get round the Virgin 5 hub restrictions. Wireless performance is great. Permanant Nord VPN running on it very well. Points to my Pihole DNS server. Just works and not too expensive.
All technical information where everything you need to know is described in detail.
I’ll make a personal note. I’m using 1 gigabit. The situation has become that 8 out of 14 are active and connected to wireless. And here is a full-fledged 6 and a very convenient option in terms of price and quality. The range and signal penetration of the premium is very high. You have a large house and it shows that it has only connected but there are no divisions (signal strength) and it provides a speed of 15-50 megabits.
Out of the box it is easy to use and most importantly reliable. For hobbyists there is always something to customize.
I bought this router as I was constantly having issues with my Virgin Media Hub 3. I would constantly get disconnections from too many devices connecting to my hub and I had a few dead-spots in my home which I needed to address.
The router was super easy to setup and the app allows use to customise how you want the router to behave – which is super nice. The range is now perfect I now have no connection issues and my WiFi speeds are faster than the hub 3. I get a connection quite far out of my home now which is great.
Also, as this router is WiFi 6E, devices can take advantage of the 6ghz lane which is perfect for modern smartphones / laptops as well as those who have access to 1gbps internet.
This is a solid router with great all-round performance. Build quality is good and signal strength is strong. With that said, I have the WiFi 6 AX5400 version of this same WiFi 6E AXE5400 router and the AX5400 performs just as well and I’m some cases, better. I would recommend saving the money, unless the difference is just 10 or less. WiFi 6 was a significant upgrade over WiFi 5 and will be plenty for anyone for a while yet. Depending on your connection capability and devices used, you can expect up to 1,2 Gbps + consistently from this router. I average 850-900 symmetrical and I will include a screenshot of a single speed test from both versions which were performed at the same time and on the same device.
I got this on offer for around 140 to replace my BT hub on full fibre 900. With the BT hub WiFi signal upstairs was dropping to around 70mbps from the 450 it was getting downstairs. I thought I would try this instead of any extender. It works great I am now getting around 650mbps downstairs and 350mbps upstairs. The connection just seems more stable and everything works better. It’s easy to setup and use. I’m sure there are far better routers out there but not at this price. A good upgrade for the disappointing BT hub.
The main reasons for buying this were for the guest WiFi and the parental controls. Previously I only had the router/modem provided by Virgin which is sub-par to say the least. Since installing this router I have complete control over every connected device in the house. I have set up our 16 year old on the guest network and the rest of our homes devices on the main network. Each of his devices has been setup with individual profiles so the internet can be suspended separately on his devices and all have different allowed access times.
My equipment has been set as priority so I always get the fastest access and other equipment doesn’t use up too much bandwidth.
The best bit is that all of this is accessed and controllable via an app on my phone!
I can’t recommend this router enough, it’s perfect.
If you don’t have a >1gbps fibre/DSL connection, THIS is the router to buy!
Has every feature you want, wi-fi signal&stability is banging, and even has multiple VPN server AND client options directly from the setup page.
This is a truly a superb product, especially for the price; and like I said, it’s only missing 2.5gbit (or dual-bond-link) WAN ethernet port (1gbit WAN only).
Perfect little bit of kit
Works easy off your lan to wan port from your isp’s router
I recently was having wifi issues with signal strength and well let’s say the archer has cured all of my wifi dead zones. Really easy set up using the tether app or the 192.168.0.1 address on a browser. Would recommend if you were having wifi related issues. From what I’ve read wifi boosters can be linked easily using the wps button on the rear of route
The only thing I don’t like about this product is the app isn’t always working or just forgets my device other than that it works well to provide Wi-Fi across my whole house
This is a review of the TP-Link AX7800 otherwise known as the Archer AX95 not the AXE75 that Amazon seems to switch too, anyway we had a Asus AX88U for a couple of years great router but we started to have problems so decided to replace it,we tried the TP-Link AXE75 certainly a downgrade from the Asus AX88U but a nice little router be not the best WiFi range and speeds also the upload speeds would drop randomly drop into the low 10Mbps and sometimes Kbps when our connection is 100Mbps upload,we then tried the Asus ROG AX6000 that had issues with packet loss for some reason resulting in browsing issues, soooo we went with the TP-Link AX7800 (AX95) Amazing Router amazing WiFi my son often gets the full 900Mbps/100Mbps on his Pixel 7 around the house even upstairs, works perfectly with our devices including Laptop,Chromecasts,PS5 and Xbox and Smart TVs,just been a joy to use and fantastic so far (touch wood) i would probably go as far as to say this is the best router we have ever had especially WiFi range and speeds
I was getting tired of having over 200mb connection with virgin but rubbish wifi and constant issues with their poor equipment. Bought this, switched my virgin router to modem mode and running everything off the tp link equipment. Its made a huge difference!! I now get full wifi around the house which i didnt before plus i get the full speed benefits too.
It’s quick to setup. I use it as a Wi-Fi extender and it works like a charm. It made Wi-Fi accesible now in all the blind spots at my house.
First unit was returned as for some reason it didn’t work with the DC Extension cable TP-Link told me was compatible (I’ve placed my unit on a bookcase and the included power adapter was far too short).
Support was great at swapping/returning.
Easy to set up. Nice little router. Didn’t have the option to put openvpn on it as a client so not really what I need. I did ask if it had option for vpn before I bought it and was told yes. But this option is only to set as a vpn server not a client. Do your research 1st lol.
I have now bought asus rog stix 5400 which does nearly everything. It just won’t put sauce on mi chip butties
I have get to test this router, I bought this due to a lack of connection around the house and no mesh support on my current router.
Thanks to Glen Ford for helping me set it up in the first place and confirming questions and problems I experience with it.
I use this router for Meta Quest Pro wireless gaming.
I’m able to run my games in living room with PC upstairs in another room.
I’m able to max out airlink 200mbps with smooth lag free 90fps using Nvidia 4090 gpu.
Fantastic for the price.
Bboy.
We have been through many routers, some far more expensive than this one. This is great and handles significant demand constantly from the household. Not had a single issue yet, no drop outs, its just sits on its shelf and delivers.
So far only had it a couple hours but it’s already so much faster than my older router which was 4 years old and top of the range at the time. Now the range does seem to be much further as before downstairs as I live on a first floor of a maisonette I used to have and extender downstairs just for my doorbell but I had to remove it as it’s now slower when it’s connected to the extender than is direct to the Wi-Fi router which is grea
We are on Toob and the router they supplied was ok but we had a few issues with disconnections and random issues and bugs so thought we would replace this with this unit.
I am glad we have. It was a plug and play, removing the Toob router and plugging in the Ethernet into this TP-Link unit and running through the quick setup wizard. It connected right up. No passwords or other credentials required.
The web interface is really good showing your connected devices, you can rename them and check whether they have connected via 2.4 or 5GHz.
I think the WiFi reception has increased slightly due to the aerials but not night and day.
The Wi-Fi speed has certainly increased on our newer devices so a sure upgrade there.
Overall recommended!
Excellent item. Easy to set up and app is great.
Wi-Fi signal improved immediately throughout my home after installing this. It should be noted, this was used to connect to my existing router and hasn’t replaced it.
Easy to install using the app. I turned off my existing routers WiFi and chose this instead, due to the increased speed and performance and haven’t looked back.
WiFi 6 is definitely the way forward and this is an inexpensive way to have functional signal throughout your home that’s super easy to use and set up. Would recommend.
Easy to install, if you have used the tplink software before. The virgin hub has to be put in modem mode first. The TP link router came with a cat5e cable, was rather surprised as this router claims high speeds. I have a 1.1gig connection, and consistently get more than a gig download speed on hub 5. I ordered a cat7 cable to connect the hub5 to TP link. Use the 2.5G port 4 on the virgin hub. I have enabled OFDMA and MUMIMO, these were not on by default in TP link. The 160hz band was on only on the 5G-1 band, not the second 5G band, not sure why, had to be switched on. The OFDMA and MUMIMO feature is only available on the first 5G band, not sure why. I have enabled QoS. I have not changed any set up of my devices, the router placed in the centre of my house; on my desktop which is plugged into the router, I get max 850mbps now, instead of the previous 980, the desktop is capped at gigabit ethernet. On my new mobiles running latest chipsets Snapdragon 8+gen1, I cannot get more than 750, previously on hub5 I got 1.1gbps. The connection speed with the router on my mobile is 2401 Mbps even on the fast 5G1 channel which is supposed to connect at 4804 Mbps. Tried playing with various settings by logging into the router. I was satisfied with hub 5, thought that this may reduce the latency when traffic is high, and improve the reach, not noticed any difference yet apart from reduction in speeds, having said that even 750-800mpbs is good enough and no noticeable difference when streaming. The upload speeds remain the same at 50.
I spent several weeks changing settings as the router was crashing every few days after running out of memory, but now it is working well. TPLink support was ok once it was escalated, but I’m not sure how often the firmware is updated to fix issues as the last one was quite a while ago. I have one as an access point and one as a router and the wifi signal is good, plus the wpa3 and 802.11ax are nice to have, as well as some other features like scheduled reboot, parental controls and remote access. The original advert said it had new device notifications but it didn’t, however this was since corrected and isn’t a major problem. I had hoped the mesh feature would work with a router and access point, but this wasn’t supported so I just set it up the old way with sensible channel numbers. Does the job, just a shame it took a while to work reliably as my network settings are not really unusual and I like to see issues like this properly fixed.
I have a fast fibre connection to the house . This Unit easily handles multipe connected devices both Wi-Fi and LAN connected. Coverage is good although I do use a repeater upstairs.
Ever since I started to work from home our wifi coverage has been a BIG concern that boosters just didn’t address. We just wanted reliable service for all the devices that might need simultaneous connection in our modest home & that’s what we now have. The “hub” devices we got from our provider just weren’t up to the job.
The setup via browser or app is simple & straightforward & service has been silky smooth since installation.
I needed to update my router because it was old (by tech standards) and was a Virgin Media supplied box.
Chose this and it’s quality.
I used to suffer from signal drop off and losing connection on an almost daily basis. Not lost connection once since installing this box.
Definitely recommend
I have a small terraced town house arranged on 4 floors. With the 5Ghz channel width reduced to 80Mhz to avoid congestion from neighbours my WiFi 6 phone reports 1200Mbs in the same room as the router, about 600Mbs in the rooms above and below, and about 300Mbs in the attic bedroom 2 floors above the router. I’ve set the 6Ghz channel width to 160Mhz so should get double the speeds on that band, but don’t yet have any 6Ghz devices to test it out.
I found it easy to set up, with a straightforward web interface.
I was looking for a router that supports NORD VPN via the open VPN service. I did some research and noted that this router does support OpenVPN so I thought, great. And was at a discount price of 59.99, even better. However, when getting into the configuration menu there is no option to ADD a new Open VPN server (Nord in my case but others apply too). So,….really disappointing. Even after a firmware upgrade its still not possible. I shall return and try the Archer AX20 instead which TP-Link says does support this option. Fingers crossed.
Otherwise, a nice piece of kit. I am a Virgin Media user so set their Hub v3.0 to modem mode and connected this to the WAN port and away we go. I didn’t need the wi-fi part of this (use a wired mesh system) so cant comment on the wi-fi side of things.
The Wi-Fi signal is not to strong, but I still recommend.
Excellent product just what I needed.
Would recommend it’s exactly what it says it is and dose it well.
A change lots that don’t.
Fantastic unit. I got it as a deal on Amazon. Very competitive price. The unit is perhaps a bit of an eyesore, at least for my wife :), but the performance is outstanding. I upgraded to a gigabit internet, and my ISP router was not up to the job of transmitting these sort of speeds as it is a wifi 5 device. However, because it comes with an integrated phone service, it must be connected. So I got the Archer unit and basically use it a wifi access point. You basically select a mode of operation as access point. You then loose some functionality, like protection, etc., but this is still provided by the ISP router. So all is good. It works really well. Much better signal and stability when compared with the ISP router. I have a big house, but absolutely no problem of getting decent speeds at the very far corner of the house. I get wifi speeds up to the full speed, around 930 Mbps, in the room adjacent to the router. In the farthest corner of the house I still get around 200 Mbps download. Never had performance like this with the ISP router which had to work with two extension discs… Highly recommended. As regards the safety feature that some people complain about, you can still disable internet for selected clients based on a schedule. But, this is restricted to the time on and time off. Still, probably ok for the majority of users.
Brilliant router. Had no signal issues amd WiFi 6 works on my laptop and Samsung Galaxy S21 so any new phones after this and gadgets that have got a wifi 6 wireless card in it. Will have the wifi signal from the router just fine. All the others works fine with the 5g signal.
I have only had one issue but it was sorted in less than 5 minutes and that issue that is was not connecting to my hp wireless printer but I got it sorted. All I did was
go on to tplink.net and log into the administrator page of the router.
Once on there
Click advance
Click wireless
Click wireless settings
untick the box for smart connect
Click save.
Then your printer should connect like normal. This will help with any other gadgets that cannot connect to the router aswell.
I thought I might let everyone know so they don’t feel like they need to buy new printers or any other gadgets that I seen people in other reviews have done.
Any issues and TP-Link will help you. They have been brilliant woth me and sorting my router out so it is up and running for me and that I am happy. Cannot fault them at all.
One more word of advice. Whe you using your printer. Make sure you select the printer name that has network in brackets if the other one won’t work because I had to do that with mine.
I get some Network lag sometimes but i feel like thats just signal noise from living in a busy appment complex than the Router itself, Or my Cheap Mobo. Im not sure what and unsure on how to work out what it is.
But its like 60 secs of network lag over a good 6-8 hours of playing, So its very minor overal.
I bought this to improve my WiFi connection in my room as, although I have Gigabit Internet by default, for some reason my Consoles, PC and even the TV where only recieving 10-40 Megabits. Upon buying this I realised it had to be connected to my main WiFi hub to have Internet. No good. However after reading some reviews I decided to purchase the TP-Link AC1900 Gigabit Mesh Wi-Fi Range Extender and use that as a alternative for the WiFi hub. And it worked! Having the Extender connected to my main hub, and then using its only ethernet port to connect into my Archer 1800’s WAN port was perfect, I now have a seamless and constant 200Mbs on each device that connects to the Archer 1800 in my roomwhich I have seen reach 260Mbs a few times, so far no Internet trafficking either!
The range isn’t too good, I tend to have issues if I’m connected to it downstairs. Well it’s very slow compared to when I’m upstairs. I’d recommend being connected to this router if you within a range of 2-3 rooms on the same elevation-floor as the router.
Got hold of the TP-Link AXE75 WiFi 6E router great peace of kit gives 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz had to get in touch with TP-Link for help with set up they are so helpful and took loads of time helping me, this was not any fault or problem with you router but my ISP not giving me all the information I needed for a connection I would recommend the router and the great help from TP- Link support.
Looks funky and although I did see it up a bit wrong in the beginning now I’ve done it again properly it’s just fab.
Super easy to set up and run, super fast and great range.
I was long overdue upgrading my home WiFi and I’m so glad I chose this device.
Large detached house but has great signal throughout, added an extender near the garden for extra support and the OneMesh system is amazingly smooth and easy to use.
Fantastic product so far. This was relatively easy to set up. You will need to log in to TPlink when setting up. Add devices from there that have no interface. Phone and other screen devices connect easily. The speed of the WiFi is incredible. Went up 6 times faster on average. Add mesh extenders to improve out of reach areas of the house, no lag….
The product is great and quick to set up however I bought it to replace a standard Sky router but it doesn’t have the correct protocols. As such I have used it as an access point which has boosted the signal a little around the house.
We had tried several different rotas and they all would continually cut out but this one is perfect. Our Wi-Fi signal improved significantly and never cuts out for us. It’s reasonably priced and would highly recommend if you’re a gamer,
The only down side is that it looks slightly clumsy so just put it in a spot that nobody will see.
I’d go as far as to say that my fiancee and I are tech power users, with a music studio, a gaming room, phones, laptops and games consoles all connecting throughout the home, sometimes under heavy-load applications like PS5 remote play, or Steam Game Streaming over LAN.
The Hub 3.0 we had from virgin was doing okay, but would frequently lack stability under heavy load with constant inconsistent frame rates in game streaming and occasional hiccups to internet speed. I figure that with the demand we’re putting on the Hub 3.0 we’re verging on edge cases for the bog-standard hub and were due an upgrade.
I’ve never considered a “proper” stand alone router before because I always assumed that the set-up would be complicated. I can’t remember why I thought this, maybe a layover from days passed when that perhaps was the case. I can report here though that set up was a cakewalk. You literally just plug the Ethernet cable into your existing hub/modem, and it works.
In my case I was able to run both wireless networks simultaneously, and switch over my devices and test everything was 100% before then going into the Virgin Hub settings and enabling modem mode, to shut off it’s wifi and allow this router to work.
The back top room of the house where the gaming room is situated is separated from the router by a thick internal brick wall with a chimney. This unfortunately decimates the wifi signal in that room. While the wifi signal is still not great in that room with the new router, it’s around 50% faster than before, making low-latency game streaming feasible there, where it was not before. Awesome.
Meanwhile downstairs in the living room, streaming games from the gaming PC to the steam deck over WIFI has had a huge uplift. With latency down from 36ms to just 18ms, and a far smoother and consistent frame rate free of hitching and packet loss. It’s worth noting that due to the wifi dead-zone in the gaming room, the gaming PC is connected to the router via a wifi-bridge – a wifi extender placed in the bedroom directly above the router, and connected to the PC via Ethernet. Effectively the connection comes out of the PC wired, to the wifi extender, hops over wifi to the router, and then onwards to the streaming devices over wifi. Game streaming with 18ms latency, at 60 FPS and 1440p resolution, over an entirely wireless connection is impressive as far as I’m concerned.
In addition, that same gaming PC now has a faster internet connection maxing out our fibre connection, indicating that the wifi bridge connection has improved as well.
Overall really not a bad bit of kit for 60 and I’m kicking myself I didn’t think to upgrade earlier!
