The Vax Blade 5 Pet Cordless Vacuum is one of the best vacuum cleaners I have ever used. It has very powerful suction and is very easy to use. It is also very lightweight, which makes it easy to carry around the house. The dustbin is very easy to empty and it has a display that lets you know when the battery is getting low. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

As far as portable vacuum cleaners go, it is incredible but expensive
On hardwood floors it sucks up all the dust and dirt you can see, and probably a lot that you can’t see!
On carpets it does an exceptional job at picking up hair with it’s scrubbing brush

The screen tells you how much battery you have left while in use, very handy
    It’s lightweight and very portable

At near 400 though it is asking a high price – wait until it’s on offer!

This is the second Vax I’ve reviewed and probably the fourth or fifth stick vacuum cleaner. This is without doubt the best and has replaced not only the former stick but also the regular vacuum cleaner. Thank you Vax.
Previous cleaners like this have suffered from two major issues: battery life and cleaning power. That includes the previous Vax. This cleaner solves these issues.
As you can see from the pictures, the Vax now tells you – with a surprising degree of accuracy – how long the battery is going to hold out for. This changes depending on if you have the carpet button pushed or if you have the boost button pushed (or both). Either way it gives a reassurance that you are not going to be halfway through a clean and have the battery fail. Obviously, and I would suggest it, having another battery that is charged waiting is a good idea.
The carpet beater (is that the name?) part seems to have evolved a bit we found it very effective on both older carpets and picking up the tons of fluff from our new carpets. You can switch to hard floors when you encounter them. Being cordless, we can also effectively vacuum out the car as well.
Emptying the cleaner is easy, although if your debris contains a lot of long hair you may need a small brush to get the hair away from the internal filter.
As I started, it’s probably one of the best we’ve tested. We have been using it for about six weeks now – a fair test and it has performed.

This is the best cordless vacuum cleaner that I’ve owned (out of three), works very well if you have the arm strength and dexterity to use it, and has a lot of handy features (like a display to show time left on the battery) that are improvements on earlier cordless models. But I’m still not sure that I’d recommend it over something that can be plugged into the wall.

These cordless vacuums rely on you carrying the bulk in a way that traditional vacuums don’t, and even though they’re pretty lightweight, if you had mobility issues I wouldn’t recommend them.

The batteries for both of our earlier cordless vacuums died after a year or so, making maintenance much more costly than for a traditional vacuum cleaner. I can’t say at this early stage how well the battery on the Vax Blade 5 will last, but I’d be looking out for the battery going as soon as it’s out of warranty.

If you want something modern and effective, this is the best cordless vacuum I’ve used yet, and it picks up off carpet and hard floors really well. But maybe find one and give it a go before committing hundreds of pounds if you haven’t tried one yet.

I have three dogs and I am now on my 3rd hoover of trying to find a decent hoover for the dog hair. I have tried all the big brands and I never thought about trying this. At the time of purchase this item was around 380 roughly which was at the time cheaper than the vax website.

This hoover prides it self in being a pet hoover. It comes with only one accessory which attaches to the hand held hoover. It comes with one battery and a charger. Additional batteries can be purchased. On first inspection I loved the look of this hoover it look really nice and stylish. It is so small and compact but yet so powerful. Obviously it is cordless the battery lasts around 30-40 mins for me. The screen on the hoover is digital gives you how much charge time is left on the hoover in minutes as well which I have never seen before. You can also change the hoover depending on which floor you have from carpet to hard floor. All the hoovers filters are odour free. I have found this with previous hoovers that when you have pets they end up smelling so far so good for me with this hoover I can’t smell anything.

The suction on this hoover is so good. I found with my old hoover I was spending a lot of the time going over the places I had already done but with this one I don’t have to. Once around my room and I am done. The accessory for the hand held hoover is a pet attachment the suction is just as good this can be used on multiple things. Cars, Stairs,Sofas and beds. I have used this attachment on all 3 and been really happy with it. I am so happy with this hoover it definitely for me beats all the big brands for pet hoovers. It doesn’t clog or smell with the dog hairs which is a massive thing for me. It looks really nice and I love the digital timer on it. It is really easy to use and assemble when you get the hoover. Really light weight and easy to store but don’t judge this hoover on how it looks. It is an exceptional hoover I think you will struggle to get anything else this good especially if you have pets. Great value for money I am really happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe Vax Blade 5 Pet Cordless hoover arrived in a branded cardboard box, well packed and in new condition. The instructions were in a plastic / card document holder, stickers were attached to the hoover, and an extra guide was included. This showed fitting the dirt container and cleaning the filter and separator. The instructions are easy to understand.

I began assembling the hoover, wand first, which is easy, it just clicks into place. It can be removed again by pressing the grey button. I found the dirt container harder to put in place – between the handle and the wand. The instructions read rotate the dirt container, and push until it clicks into place. I finally realised the latch that clicks shut can be pushed in and out by hand making it easier to latch it shut.

After charging the battery (which took around 2 hours), I switched the hoover on. I pressed carpet, the time remaining was shown on the hoover and the brushes rotated. The same thing applies for hard floors. My carpets looked good after hoovering, the dirt container was easy to remove, empty and re-fit.

I have used this several times now, it’s easy to use and store away. It is very light and it’s nice not tripping over the loose flex. I like knowing how much time remains and got another battery to have one in use and one on charge. It’s great to switch on for just a few crumbs or a build up of dust / dirt. Always ready for action. I don’t own any pets but this would be fantastic to pick up spare pet hair etc. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWith the title of my review, you’ll be wondering why I’ve dropped a star…. I’ll save that for last.

This is an amazing hoover! It has tackled everything I’ve thrown at it, and puts my Shark upright to shame (something I never thought would happen). The suction is great, and it can be boosted making it even better. I’m not sure about animal hair but if it can sort the aftermath of my shedding bonce then it can tackle anything…. and it definitely gets up my hair better than any other hoover I’ve had.

The battery is what it is. All cordless items have a limit. It’s so efficient, I’ve never had chance to run it flat. And the little screen that tells you how long it has left is great for planning charge breaks.

It comes with a wall bracket for easy storage (which is great because it hasn’t got a chance of standing on its own – it’s not made for that).

I love how lightweight it is too. Not as heavy as other stick vacs I’ve looked at in shops.

So…. the star loss? At 379.99 RRP (with 100 off on Amazon at time of writing making it 279.99) I feel it’s a little steep, but that’s just my own personal opinion (I’m a Yorkshire Lass). Maybe if they added a spare battery for that price it would be worth it. BUT if you’re after an amazing vacuum and you’re happy for the price tag, then you won’t be disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought myself the upright Vax Evolve model from the OnePWR range shortly before being offered this Blade 5 dual model to review. I like the Evolve, but compared to the Blade 5 there is a real difference in quality. The Blade 5 is definitely a superior machine which feels really robust and sturdy, and includes a range of attachments.

The main attachment is a wide foot for general room cleaning. This has a powered front section, which engages when you’re cleaning carpets and turns off for hard floors.

It’s easy to switch between settings for different flooring types. The vacuum defaults to hard floor setting when switched on, and you can see this (as well as the amount of battery life remaining) on a colour display on the handle. To switch between flooring types you simply press buttons on the handle.

The suction on this is excellent, and does a good job of lifting pet hairs out of carpets. The light weight and cable free design make this portable, and easy to move between storeys in a house.

The maximum 45 minutes of battery life quoted is based on use over hard floors – with this in carpet mode and powering the motorised roller in either the main foot or the pet attachment as well as the suction the maximum run time drops by around 18 minutes.

The battery life is good, though not quite sufficient for a single battery to get round our house in one go. The battery is removable for charging, and the charger is a neat, compact dock that doesn’t require much space. Because this system uses a removable battery rather than plugging directly in to the vacuum to charge, you don’t need the wall mount to be near to a plug socket.

This is one of the easiest vacuums I have seen to unblock, thanks to a section of clear tubing between the foot and the main tube.

The price point seems reasonable for the build quality and effectiveness of this model.

It’s worth noting, though, that if you think you’re likely to need an extra battery there is a dual bundle which comes complete with a second battery, a flexible pipe for getting in to awkward crevices in a car, and a little head for cleaning tech in addition to the basic bundle. At the time of writing this bundle is only 70 more than this version of the Blade 5 with just one battery and no extra tools. A second OEM 4.0Ah battery on its own costs an extra 80.

This is a good cordless vacuum, looks great and suction is excellent. Easy to use.
Box includes instructions, battery charger and different attachments as well as wall mount. But there are some cons I’d like to mention – I find it quite heavy and noisy. There are 2 settings – hard floor and carpet- and on both the rugs get stuck in the brush, error message comes up and it stops working. Also doesn’t stand on its own and the battery life is shorter than other vacuums similar to this one.
Overall it’s a good vacuum but needs some improvements

This is a cordless Vax Blade 5. It has the motor at the top end of the handle and at the base, there is a powered head. This comes with instructions, battery, charger, wall mount, motorised pet hair tool and longer tool that is great for getting down the side of sofas or car seats.

The battery holds a 45-minute charge if used on the regular setting, this doesn’t last as long if the turbo is used. There is a light on the larger head so you can see under units, beds or furniture. The smaller motorised head is good for upholstery and smaller spaces.

The controls are on the handle, on and off as well as two other buttons for hard or carpeted flooring. There is also a + button that you press to increase the suction power.

This is a good machine, it does a very good job as the main vacuum cleaner, the main head swivels and turns easily. I did find that as the main motor and collector is in the handle it means a lot of the weight of the machine you do hold as opposed to a motor mounted nearer the floor.

All accessories are very easy to change over and there are various combinations. This is brilliant for the stairs, upholstery and car vacuuming. It is also really handy when you decide to knock over a hou8seplant and end up with dry soil across the floor!

The dust collector takes a little practice to get in, but once you work that out and have done it a few times it becomes easier.

This is a tidy vacuum. It is a good brand and feels very well made. The odd niggle I have isn’t anything major and while I haven’t given it the full 5 stars it has come very close.

I would happily recommend this machine, it is versatile, has good suction, a good battery and is easy to store.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersVax Blade 5 Dual Pet & Car Cordless Vacuum Cleaner:

I’ve had lots of hoovers. Cheap cordless to expensive ones. I was thrilled to receive this for my honest review.

The first thing I loved was just how easy it was to click together! Just 3 main components and your done.

It had a lcd screen in it that shows you battery life and what mode your in.

The bottom brush is amazing! There’s 2 rollers a smooth one and a carpet one. They are both built in and you simply breed if you want hard floor or carpet and the rollers kick in!

There’s a boost button which heavily reduces the battery life but the suction is amazing! My carpets felt brand new after using.

You get two batteries which is very handy especially if you are using it in boost mode.
The long tube is great for nooks and crannies.

There’s a light on the bottom as well which helps to clean up in dark corners

The wall mount is super easy to instal. And super easy to use !

    On to the negatives.
    It’s very top heavy.

You can’t just pop off the tube and use it to get into a corner quickly, the dirt/dust compartment it’s horizontal and chunky, so it makes getting into corners hard, you definitely need the tube attachment. Which is annoying if you just want a quick clean up.

It’s not the easiest to empty there’s a button to press, but coming from a dog owners home it doesn’t always just fall out when you open it, you either need to pick it out or unclip the filter and pull it out. Which can be a pain

This hoovers suction is so good my carpets really do feel brand new!

Truthfully I’m not sure if I would pay this kind of money especially with the flaws I’ve found. It’s still great, but there a few annoying niggles

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is not an upright vacuum — so it doesn’t stand up by itself — but is a stick vacuum, and appears to be a direct competitor with the Dyson v8 absolute stick vacuum, even having the same price point. This is a mistake in my opinion, as while it matches the Dyson in some regards, in others it is not as good. It has equivalent quality of life features: 40~45 minutes of power, various attachments, and the ability to switch between hard floor and carpet mode. The main difference between the two (apart, possibly, from the suction, which I am not in a position to comment on) is the power supply and weight. The Vax Blade battery disengages and has its own charging dock, while the Dyson charges directly. The advantage for the Vax Blade is that it can support spare batteries, but this seems unlikely to be a feature that many would find especially useful.

The downside of the battery is its weight and location. When the battery is assembled into the Vax Blade, it is 0.75kg heavier than the Dyson at 3.25kg. This is actually a bit too heavy and is quite noticeable when in use; the more so as the vacuum is top-heavy as a result of the battery slotting in right where you grip it. The two of us who have used it for any length of time have both found that it leads to a bit of wrist strain after about 5 minutes. Maybe with repeated use our wrists will get stronger, but it hardly serves to recommend this device, especially not for anyone who is frail or has joint issues. I do not believe the Dyson suffers from excess weight or weight distribution, but again am not in a position to comment authoritatively.

On the positive side, the Vax Blade has a slightly greater bin volume at 0.7 L, compared to the Dyson’s 0.54 L. It also has a screen that shows the predicted time left on the battery, which is quite useful, especially when switching between standard and carpet mode (which sucks 3x the power as standard). And it is as good as it claims for sucking up hair, even on normal mode.

This is a very good vacuum, but the weight is both a bit much and badly distributed, making it somewhat uncomfortable to use. I have given it 4 stars, but would have given it 3.5 stars if I could.

This arrived very well boxed with all the parts nicely laid out and safely protected inside.
The instructions are very clear and it only took a minute or two to click it all together.

The battery was only at half charge and Vax suggests you do a full charge before first use so I did this. It was fully charged within an hour.

The buttons to use it are very intuitive. There’s one to turn on/off, one each for Carpet or Hardfloor and a boost button for extra power (which, in practice, you’ll mostly engage all the time).

Without the boost, the battery gives about 40 mins of use, with the boost this drops to about 12 mins, so you don’t get a LOT of time but likely enough for what’s needed. The battery clips out and slots into the charger very easily.

it’s not overly noisy in use and the design of it all is very attractive right down to the stripy brushbar.

There’s even a light at the front to show you what you’re hoovering which is always a welcome feature and should be standard really!

it also comes with a wall-mountable holder as it doesn’t free stand at all.

My one caveat with this is I don’t believe, even with the boost, this has the same level of power/suction as a half-decent (and much cheaper) corded vacuum.

On the other hand, not having to plug one in and deal with the cord afterwards when just needing a quick hoover is an absolute joy!

So, overall, very happy with this and will hopefully be able to maintain it for a long while!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good but can't beat corded for power.

This Vax Blade 5 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is worth it’s weight in gold, its brilliant. Quite pricey at 379.99 (price correct at the time of writing this review) but in my opinion, I feel it will outlast cheaper varieties of cordless vacuums

The cleaner comes in a branded box, with full instructions and a leaflet telling you where to apply for the warranty. It’s super easy to put together, and the instructions are easy to follow

When I received mine, I assembled the cleaner quickly and put the battery straight on charge, into its charging Dock

Once the battery was charged, I then hoovered the hall (which is carpet) and the living room (which is laminate) you do have to remember to press either the hard floor or carpet buttons though, otherwise it will just stay on the brush off setting. There is also a light that comes on when you use the big brush head, handy for cleaning floors

I also put on the small brush attachment, and removed the top to use as a handheld, this was used for cleaning the stairs and the flooring on my partners car, it did an excellent job on both and wasn’t too heavy to hold

What I love about this hoover is that it tells you exactly how many minutes cleaning time you have left, before you need to put it back on charge. The hoover also goes down quite flat, so you can clean under tables and beds without moving them

The only thing I found though, is that it’s a bit top heavy, so you have to make sure its propped up against a wall when not in use, it won’t stand up on its own

I have two (hairy) dogs and this hoover is great at picking up their fur. This Vax cleaner is perfect for families with kids and dogs (plus cats etc) it’s easy to use, the battery lasts well and it picks up everything its supposed to, plus easy to empty too

I’m really impressed with this Vax cleaner (and that’s coming from someone who’s used Dyson cleaners for years). I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending i

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis Vax is absolutely fantastic!
Having a dog who likes to leave his fur everywhere we go though vacuums like they are going out of fashion. Over the past 15years we have had 7 vacuums, Bissell, Dyson & Shark, out of them all the Shark has lasted the longest but compared to this Vax we have now been converted!

To start with it has a wall mount which is a bonus, slightly annoyingly it can only hold the pipe attachment as the pet attachment is too large but this is a minor downside as we rarely use the pet attachments.
On annoying noted the fact you have to remove the battery to charge it is a faff but one we will get used to.

The Vax is so easy to use with all the controls being at your thumb, the LCD screen is large and very easy to read with all the information you needs, battery run time, what power mode you are in, if the roller is on or not and if there are any blockages. If there is a blockage the Vax shuts itself down and puts a warning up on the screen, it’s very smart.
The brush head is large and has a twin roller setup, it sucks everything up with ease, all the dog hair from our rug was sucked up on one pass, it’s so much more powerful than our Shark!

The pet attachment works very well but we rarely use them, maybe for the car sometimes as being cordless means we can take it outside.

Charging was quick with the charger and the battery lasted for half an hour with our normal routine which got the entire 3 bed house done moving between hard floor and carpet.

Cleaning the rollers is simple as they just pop out but it would have been nice if they included a tool to unlock them rather than having to use a metal coin which will damage the plastic over time.
The dust bin isn’t huge but perfect formus as we are used to emptying every clean due to the amount of hair, the filters were super simple to remove as well.

If you are looking for a powerful cordless vacuum then this is it, absloutely fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and lightweigh

I was really excited to give this a go and while there are lots of things I like about it, there are a few things I don’t.

First off, it looks really smart. Its neat and compact, sturdy without being too heavy. It’s easy and very intuitive to use. The main vacuum clicks together easily. All the parts click together nicely. Its slightly more difficult to pull them apart to add other attachments but overall is still easy to use. I really love the screen that shows mode and battery time. Its really clear to see the battery life. It has a 43 minute battery life on the hard floor setting, this reduces to 25 minutes on the carpet setting and reduces even further if you use the boost setting. I managed to vacuum my house and stairs and still had plenty of battery. I was impressed with the suction, it even got bits of dog chew out of the grooves in my rug when using the boost setting. The collection cylinder was easy to remove to empty and clicks back together nicely. Its got a good capacity too.

I really don’t like how this doesn’t free stand. Its top heavy so will fall over if you loose it. I think its likely to break. It comes with an attachment to secure it to the wall but you can’t help but have it free standing when you’re changing the attachments. You will also have to attach it to the wall somewhere or otherwise prop it in a corner and risk it falling over. This has a carpet setting and hardfloor setting where the brushes still turn. Whichever setting is chosen – carpet or hard floor – if yiu press the button again the brush stops turning. On the hard floor and carpet setting i found my rugs were getting caught in the brush. You get an error message before the vacuum turns itself off which takes a second or two to shut down and the come back on which is annoying.

Overall this is a good vacuum. Its very nice quality and easy to use with good battery life. The remaining battery is really clear to see and varies with the different settings. However it doesn’t ree stand which might be an issue if you don’t want to attach it to your wall.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is my very very first impression after a few hours of use. I’ve been a blade 4 user for a while now and it’s one step ahead of blade 4 in many aspects.
    The package comes with
    – the vacuum cleaner is separated into 4 parts, a 2-in-1 tool, a pet tool, a wall hanging bracket, a battery and a charger.
    – The package arrived in its box with the address affixed to the box.
    – the real-time display gives a more advanced look and is convenient to use.
    – it has better suction than the blade four and many others in its class.

    Cons
    – it seems the battery lasts lesser than the blade 4.
    – still, it feels a bit fiddly just like its predecessor and gives me a strange feeling of cautiousness- maybe because of its glass-like finish.
