Very good tile cutters made easy work of 600x 300 Porcelain tiles. Nice clean cuts too first time. Solid and well made.
I finally got it working.
It’s good to double check if blade cut the tile especially when cutting the very long one.
Great tile cutter works fine easy to use not messy like with a water tile cutter. Cuts up to 600mm tiles. The only thing I would say is it would be good if it was supplied with a spare cutting wheel
Used for tiling my bathroom with 60x30cm gloss white tiles. Cuts easily, great purchase.
Product very good at cutting . Only thing is maximum thickness of tiles should be 5mm . I tried cutting 9mm thick tiles not so good on cutting . But on thinner tiles perfect.
This is a great tile cutter for a DIYer, I used this to cut a dozen tiles which were fairly thick and ceramic and it scored and snapped them with ease.
Bought this as it was cheap. Needed to tile my utility room and the cutter i had was too small, needed a 600mm one, seen this for 30 and I am SO glad I got it.
Im only a DIYer, (and actually 5 months pregnant) cuts are effortless I wish I had this when I did my first tile project, wow, what a difference. worked amazing and trumps the other cheap one i have. 5x easier to use and cut!!
For little jobs, its brilliant. Im no expert but compared to the other one “magnusson” I got last time.. that old one is probably gonna go in the bin. This one is ace glides a dream and I had 1 breakage in the whole room which was my fault for not supporting the tile properly
I brought this to cut 10mm porcelain tiles. The tiles were 600×600 so this cutter being 630 was ideal. I had 35 sq mts to tile and the cutter gave me good cuts every time.
I needed a tile cutter for some 60cm tiles;
This did the job well. It’s a little bit awkward to align for a spot on cut especially if your eyes are not good but at this price point it’s a good product.
Brilliant tool and great price too. We found that the blade was a little tough to push and also it is best to use with 2 people as you need to hold the tile level to score and break. Great though – would REALLY recommend practicing first though!
I have just retiled a bathroom in our house and regard myself as a competent DIYer. I needed to cut 10mm thick, 600mm x 300mm porcelain tiles and this tile cutter was just the job. I believe that there are cheaper versions available but I would recommend this cutter as it did the job with ease and very little wastage. I would suggest a couple of trial cuts beforehand as I definitely pressed harder than I needed to on my first couple of cuts.
Gives a nice cut and breaks the tile easily. Needs very little pressure to score the tile unlike my previous machine. Broke a couple of tiles in lerning that. Like the legs that stabalise the platform and act as a rest for larger tiles keeping them level whilst being scored.
I bought this to do 3 cuts on 9mm thick 600×600 tiles. I’d never cut tiles before but found this to be simple to use. I found that I needed to score the tile 5 or 6 times to make sure the tile would cut. I managed to do what I needed to do without any disasters.
came ready to use cuts like a knife through butter on the porcelain tiles. Only problem I had was it is so sharp I was leaning too hard on the tile and it was breaking along the line before I completed the cut. Practice on some off cuts and it the business cuts a clean line along the hardest of tile brilliant once you get the hang of it as with all tools
I’ve completed 2 projects now with both ceramic and porcelain tiles. This cutter has been amazing and will be for other users as long as you use it right. Read some of the other reviews as many of them have some sensible comments on this cutter. Biggest piece of advice I can offer here from my experience, is DO NOT overscore the tile. Just let the cutter wheel do the work and make a single pass consistent score across the cut line. The tile will then break perfectly.
Excellent value for money. Had a little difficulty cutting long tiles over. 600 mm. Tended to go off line at end of tile. Scoring the end first helped a lot. Would recommend. Hiring a cutter would cost as much.
I was really impressed for the first 20 or so cuts after that the blade began to blunt and by the time I came to the end of tiling my small bathroom it was un-useable. Great product but if you’ve more than a few cuts to do buy extra cutting wheels.
Easy tool to use , if you have never cut a tile or used a similar tool , expect a few broken tiles as you get used to it. We were putting up 300x600x11mm tiles in the bathroom, when I say we I mean my son , who was tiling fir his first time as my disability meant I can no longer do DIY,. My son broke his first tile, but we then used that tile to practice scoring and snapping the tiles. It only took that one broken tile for him to get the right pressure to score with and the short sharp snap to break the tile to its desired width.
Very good tile cutter. I was using 900 x 600 at 12mm thick porcelain and it would even cut 15mm off a tile along the 900 length which was just brilliant. Needed to be set sqaured to get it straight as it was about 5 mm out. Also the when doing larger tiles it needs some tile rests either side to keep them stable, I just used off cut pieces of wood.
Good for the money,,i use a rubi star for most of my work but this was fine to make the longer cuts and it snapped 30mm off a 600mm long tile
I’m a general builder encompassing pretty much all trades and have done a fair bit of tiling before, but never large format tiles.
So when the need arose for a large format tile cutter I did a bit of research and came across the Vitrex Pro Tile Cutter 900mm.
There’s a lot of good feedback for this item, even from tradesmen that have used ‘Top End’ kit that costs a lot more money.
I’ve used a number of tile cutters before 300mm, 600mm and even the same brand as this before, but was amazed how much easier and less effort is required in both scoring and and snapping the tile.
Maybe it’s missing a few of the extras or add ons that you might get with the more expensive models but It’s great value for money and does the job well.
Excellent tile cutter. My first few cuts were crap as I needed to get a technique for how much pressure to put on scorer wheel and where to press the tile. Make sure you score all of the tile and don’t skimp on the very start of the tile. Also make sure you slide the metal guide out of the way and don’t try press with that underneath the tile. The fact that once you get technique right it’s perfect every time proves it’s a quality item. Would highly recommend.
Read a few negative reviews and am only writing this as I found this cutter to work perfectly. I’m using 600x600x9.5mm porcelain tiles and it’s cut every one perfectly. I’m a DIYer and have never used such a cutter before but it’s simple and effective. Nuff said.
P. S. OK so after a lot of use a few haven’t cut perfectly. I’ve tried different ways to ensure a good break and my top tip… moderate pressure and a fairly fast score. Speed of score seems to bey key.
Score once end to end across the tile – and short, sharp ‘snap’ pressure to get (mostly) clean breaks. Recommend watch a couple of YouTube vids if unsure. Destroyed first tile by applying too slow a pressure – which shattered the tile!
Used on 300x600x9 thick ceramic floor tiles. Generally very good clean breaks on whole tiles – learnt quickly that you can’t really lengthwise snap a floor tile more than once. Would recommend.
When cutting angles or rakes make sure the tile does not go off the cushioned bed and stray on to the end stop.
Lastly, mine was about 1mm out, the scoring wheel was not directly above the breaking bar, once you know it’s easy to deal with but you’ll probably make a couple of duff cuts when you start.
So, this is not a top of the range tile cutter but for the price it is good enough and if you practice you can do a brilliant job with it.
Having never tiled before or used a tile cutter I was a bit worried. But it’s fine and is very straightforward to use for a non diy expert. Have used to tile a fireplace hearth and it cut rather thick 20cm by 20cm ceramic tiles quite well. One thing to note – if you need precision and small pieces this cutter isn’t great for cutting small strip of tile as it crushes the tile if you try to cut small strips with it, but is great for cutting in half for instance or for slightly bigger pieces. It now struggles to score properly and I needed to rescore (it’s the same type of tile as was for my first project). Maybe it got blunter after just one use, not sure …
