Surprisingly high build quality, with substantial weight and a flat table. Good storage too. Is getting used a lot. The dust extraction works very well. Definitely one of my better purchases.
This works really we for me, interchangeable heads for different diameters. The cast iron bed is superb for flatness and sturdiness, all in all a great tool.
Brilliant machine and good value compared to others, very happy as to now.
I received this sander a day earlier that scheduled so top marks there.
All parts were delivered as described and the machine performs very well. Unlike the negative review and the comments regarding the poor fitting sleeves, I did not find that at all. The abrasive sleeves are held firmly on their respective cores and do not slip when in use.
Regarding noise, the machine is definitely noisier that others that I have used, but as I wear ear defenders and do not use it for long periods, it is not a problem for me.
The machine is not fitted with a sloping table, but that is made clear in the description.
All-in-all, this is a good investment for the small workshop.
I don’t know how I have managed without one of these. For guitar building this is one of the few power tools that is on the ‘must have’ lis
Solid construction and easy to use. Good dust extraction too.
very easy to use, cost a little bit more well worth it I should bought years ago
Great product. Really pleased with this purchase.
Worth the money. Does the job as described and well.
Wood recommend to any wood working enthusiast.
Arrived well packaged but was missing the smallest spindle. Customer service was brilliant, offered 10% refund to cover the cost of another spindle. Not the quietest of machine but excellent for the price.
I don’t often need one of these so I wasn’t prepared to spend too much – 109 was about right. The machine is bigger than I thought and quite heavy with a metal top, so it feels good quality. There’s not really much for it to do – it goes round and round and the drum goes up and down – though not by much so the paper drum will still wear out quite quickly I think.
I liked the way that all the accessories (6x orange disks, 6x rubber cylinders and the spanner) store on the base of the machine. The only thing that has no place are two small washers, so I need to think of something for those or they’ll get lost.
In use the machine makes a fair noise, but not excessively so. Testing it on MDF and softwood I was surprised it didn’t take much off, so don’t use this machine for removing more than a few mm. The biggest fail in operation is that the orange washers are about 1mm thinner than the recess they fit in, so small pieces of work will tip forwards. This is a very careless oversight by the makers and I’ll have to make a shim to bring them level. Had it not been for that I’d have given it five stars.
Item arrived quickly and well packaged – it’s really easy to put together and it just works! It’s larger than I expected so do check the measurements but what a quality piece of kit. The top is made of cast iron and is very sturdy. The sanding rolls have just the right amount of give in them that they cushion the sanding to avoid indents – obviously you need to be sure to hold the piece firmly to the top to get 90 degree sanding but that’s common sense. Changing the bobbins is easy and can be done in under a minute. See my photos of some sanding that otherwise would have taken hours – the small bobbin wasn’t quite small enough to reach into the deep sections but in future my designs won’t have such a tight radius (it’ll make it easier for the CNC machine too – I’ll be able to use a bigger bit. See the before and after pictures above and work out how long that would have taken by hand. Just waiting for some higher grit rolls to arrive so that I can finish the sanding prior to priming and painting. This is a seriously good piece of kit, high quality and great value. 🙂
perfect for what I want other sellers wanted more for the same thing.
great sander, compares with similar overpriced top brands, i would highly recommend, easy to set up and use, another top VH product.
Hard to believe how I got by without this amazing machine, tabletop bobbin sanders have usually always been outwith my budget , not now at the price of this machine & what it can do. Comes with 80grit sanding sleeves which are aggressive in cutting so I purchased another set of x 2 Grits(150& 240grit). I have had great results with profiles and radius smoothing on hard and soft woods & 5mm Acrylic. Drums are easy peasy yet to swap over & match with appropriate insert ring.
Table top is extruded cast iron so whole unit is light enough to be carried with one hand (just me) dust extraction port works well & matched my hoover perfectl!
I will be using this amazing machine a lot over the next year & have no doubt it will perform 100%.
Likes, good size of work area on the table looks well made and works well, value for money in MOP. comes with all thats required to get you going on your first job, Recommended.
Dislikes, None.
I make small mouldings as a hobby. Found this machine so far to be excellent. The oscillation is about 10 mm so need to raise the work at times to get the full benefit of the grit. The bobbins can be turned over of course. Arrived on time, appears to be very good so far. Probably a re brand of a more expensive model. Would suggest that work surface polished on regular basis to stop rust. Quiet operation.
Very good audition to my wood working shop does what it says on tin much cheaper than some other well known brands but to be honest every bit as good
similarf to a few other bobbin sanders great for my small projects
This sander is, in my opinion a good quality build.
The instructions for it are clear and simple with diagrams.
It has plenty of power to deal with large pieces of wood,
I will be using it for smaller jobs and I am very pleased with the smaller sized bobbins to cope with the level of detail I will be using it for.
I only have two gripes with this machine.
1: It is quite loud whilst operating, which really is a minor problem as I can use ear defenders for long periods of use but to be honest it isn’t so loud that I can’t bear it.
2: The seller page does not state the size of bobbin sleeves required (height) but having measured them I can inform you that it takes the 114 mm (height) bobbins. So if you are looking to buy back, up or different grit bobbin sleeves (80 grit supplied) at the the same time as ordering this sander you now know what you need.
As far as I can tell it is the same model as the Triton but just a different colour and branded Vonhouse.
At the time of purchase, for me, it was cheaper than the Triton TSPS450 – 450W Oscillating Bobbin Spindle Sander 230V – by 29.99
I would definitely buy this again but I am sure I won’t need too, as the quality of materials used in the manufacture is high and so I am confident it will last me for many years.
Happy sanding!
