Bought this for an Xmas present for my partner after returning another trimmer that cut to close.
Offers lots of trimming lengths and best of all leaves no whiskers over bathroom surfaces as vacumns up the mess what’s not to love
Would recommend
My son is very pleased with it, and yes, it picks up most of the whiskers, so less mess!!!! Would recommend!!!!
The vacuum function is the best I’ve used. The only downside is the blade is not wide enough. However, I would recommend these clippers to friends and family.
I have been using this trimmer for last 2 months. The Wahl vacuum trimmer is so simple from opening the parcel to trimming my face hair. I don’t use razor blade because they irritate my face this is so soft on my face. I found the Wahl Beard Trimmer to be a perfect size and shape for fine trimming. It is light in hand and simple to operate, it is just what I was looking for to trim and shape my complex beard. You can feel the difference when in use as it has some weight behind it. I’ve had a couple of lesser brands that have just ended up not working properly, so far its working great.
Pros:
– Lots of attachments
– Accompanying accesories : Comb, beard oil, carry bag
– Vacuum function : sucks up 80% of hair
Cons:
– Vacuum function works perfectly when used to trim stubbles or short hair
– Small vacuum storage
This Wahl trimmer is essentially a beard trimmer and hoover all in one! This is a great idea in theory as I don’t enjoy finding bits of beard all over my bathroom but I had my doubts about how effective it would be in practice. The trimmer itself is a bit bulkier than other Wahl trimmers because it obviously needs to accommodate the vacuum. So if you are someone who wants a sleek and light trimmer this may be a disadvantage for you. My other half tried it out and he did think the trimmer worked well. He thought the vacuum worked reasonably well but did not capture as much hair as the promotional blurb claims. He did feel that it struggled to cope with the results of a major beard trim. I think this vacuum idea would be better on a shaver than a trimmer. I think those small specs of facial hair are more annoying to clear up than the results of a beard trim. My other half’s conclusion was to only buy this if you really struggle with cleaning up the bathroom after a trim, but he would rather have one of the sleeker Wahl trimmers and just put newspaper down before a trim.
Let me be clear by saying that this trimmer deserves 4 stars largely for the innovation rather than the performance per se. The idea of implementing a vacuuming technology within a trimmer is very genius and unprecedented as far as what I know. It is really practical that what can achieve a completely hassle-free trimming experience without the need for excessive cleaning afterwards.
While this innovative device delivers in terms of innovation, the performance isn’t 100% convincing. The trimmer itself isn’t as powerful as my conventional and classic Wahl and Philips trimmers. I expected the usual uncompromised blades and high precision from Wahl but this time it is not there. I am not saying it doesn’t perform at all, as it does deliver a certain level of convenience, and I am sure most people will be okay with the end results.
The suction is acceptable but also can be improved in terms of efficiency. It does have a convenient storage for a quick shave or small amount of hair, but it wouldn’t be convenient for a full shave if the hair is very long and thick. The chamber can be easily managed so you may dispose of the hair if the chamber is full and carry on.
I cannot give a clear verdict on this one as I have mixed feelings. I really appreciate the innovation and I believe it is a marvellous step in the right direction for a hassle-free trimming experience, but it is not fully there yet. Do I recommend this? Definitely! I tried many trimmers and there are always pros and cons. The technology implemented in this one makes it worth trying.
Well, I still do not very well understand why they adv these trimmers as ONLY beard trimmers as you can use them for trimming hair hears without any issues, considering the number of heads it comes with and the other attachments.
People everywhere, including , myself started more and more depending on their personal (and wives!) experiences to trim their heads and beards, even after leaving many strict restrictions about the last pandemic that I still feel not very safe to have my hair cut outside yet.
You get a lot in the package, apart from the separate beard oil.
The trimmer itself is quite efficient and professional but not the best I have used so far. However, this trimmer opens a new era in trimming by adding a vacuum feature and vacuum intake, why not.
The size and weight of this trimmer in hands is something I liked a lot, compared to many I used before.
Overall, I would highly recommend this trimmer to anyone would spend in the range of this trimmer cost …but sorry could not leave 5*
I hope this detailed review helps other people looking for this item or other similar products on Amazon.
As a trimmer this works fine. The blades are angled closer to 90 than normal hair clippers which makes it easier to get the right angle (pardon the pun) on your face. The combs fit well but if you take them off the wrong way then they will pop off the blades with them which can be a pain to fit back on.
As for the vacuum… well, it does a bit but the problem with facial hair, at least for me is that clippers tend to “ping” hairs off in all directions and go over everything. This certainly does not stop that happening, in fact, those hairs that do “ping” off, I don’t think it does anything to minimise that so you’re going to have to do your usual clean up around the sink anyway. Fortunately there is an attachment so you can use the trimmer as a mini vacuum cleaner. This does work to a certain extent but I still found it left bristles on the surface, especially if there was any moisture on it.
I do however still think there’s a bit of value in the vacuum. What I found is if you usually have enough hair that you need to fish it out of the sink and put in the bin, then this will potentially catch enough that you can just rinse the sink and empty this into the bin.
I would probably prefer to save my money and get a standard trimmer, the vacuum functionality does help a bit, but not enough to warrant the extra cost when you still have to clean up anyway.
The Wahl Beard Trimmer is a decent piece of male grooming equipment. One of the best features of this trimmer is the fact it has vacuum to collect the hair as you cut it resulting in a nice clean experience without the mess usually left after trimming ones beard. There are all the usual heads for getting the desired length and comes with a comb and a storage bag that is rubbish to be fair. It also has a small brush for cleaning and removing any hair trapped in the head and small bottle of oil to lubricant and maintain the blades. It is wireless and slightly on the noisy side but that’s the vacuum. There is a bottle of Wahl refresh beard oil made from natural oils to help condition and maintain your beard with a subtle minty scent. Overall this an excellent product except for the storage bag and I would recommend it for hairy men.
I normally use a beard-bin when shaving and absolutely hate the following clean up of the stray hairs that inevitably end up on the floor so when I saw this I thought I’d give it a go!
Out of the box it doesn’t feel amazing, it’s quite plasticky! It’s lightweight but I think that’s because they’ve skimped on the materials when making the body.
Turning it on the clippers start moving and the vacuum comes to life – it gives a nice sharp cut without tugging or grabbing which is nice. The vacuum does actually help in stopping a lot of hairs falling onto the floor – I wouldn’t say 96% but it’s a fair amount. The only thing the vacuum chamber isn’t massive so if you’re tackling a large beard you might need to empty it a few times!
It also comes with a dedicated hoover attachment for tidying up afterwards.
The beard oil it comes with is nice and left my beard feeling soft and supple. It comes nicely presented and would make a great little gift.
Overall a nice product – it’s nearly 90 on here but I’ve seen it cheaper elsewhere so maybe worth shopping about.
Reccomended if you’re sick of cleaning up beard hair!
It’s literally a vacuum cleaner for shaving experience. Its definitely mess free and does a fine job. I won’t say that its 100percent mess free. But yes, its pretty good. Especially for day to day face cleaning, its really helpful. It comes with a beard oil which has a very strong refreshing mint scent. The shaver itself is not compact and is a little bulky. It has a good hand grip and gives a good overall shaving experience.
I’ve had Wahl hair-clippers for at least ten years, ever since my hair thinned sufficiently that it seemed more sensible to cut my hair myself rather than to go to the barbers. Wahl beard-trimmers are a new one to me, however, and this one has all the qualities that I would expect from Wahl; it’s sturdy, has some weight, cuts well, and gives the impression that it will last forever. The vacuum function is a good bonus; I’ve always been sceptical as to whether this is worth having, but it certainly results in fewer hairs going everywhere. Very pleased.
We have been looking for a product like this our whole lives…!! Myself and my partner have said pretty much everytime he shaves and uses his Trimmer how annoying it is that it’s so messy and you have to use it over the sink due to the mess, I use it to trim random hairs on my partners shoulders and back before we epilate and it gets everywhere, whereas if there was such a thing as a Trimmer that collected the hair then you could essentially use it anywhere you liked without the mess…. cue this amazing product!!
Wahl have really nailed this design, my partner is blown away that as you trim, it sucks, you can actually hear it is like a mini vacuum cleaner when you turn it on! It’s really unique and does a pretty good job at sucking, it’s not flawless but way better than the mess you usually get with no suction. This works better on shorter hair than longer hair on the sucking side of things, the hair compartment is small so you do have to empty more regularly with longer hair obviously.
As a Trimmer it’s fantastic and works really well, it’s adjustable to whatever length you need and does a concise job. It’s quite chunky and feels a nice weight to hold and is all in all a really fantastic invention and we’re really happy someone finally invented this! This also comes with the addition of beard oil which my partner doesn’t use a lot but when he lets his facial hair grow more either through laziness or experiment he likes to dab some on to condition it and this is a nice, generous bottle presented in a smart box. Recommended, this is a great product.
Charging time is about 1.5 h and it will allow you to use it continuously for approx same amount of time.
Great feature is that this trimmer has a vacuum so cleans up straight away which means less cleaning for me.
Upper part is removable, cleaning is straightforward. Adjustable vacuum intake, very powerful trimmer, 8 different combs included, 6 position adjustable comb, vacuum head attachment, small bag to pack your trimmer and parts also included.
Charger and comb also in the set as well as beard oil (30ml) which smells amazing.
Size wise – pretty standard, durable, the quality is there as well, no doubt. Very comfortable in hand too, not heavy at all.
Price seems great to me, happy with the product would recommend.
I had few Wahl products in the past, some of them are still working till now.
I’ve been waiting good few days to grow my beard and hair to check how effective this product is.
My beard was nearly 1cm long, hair on head a bit longer but I took advantage and used this trimmer also for my head hair 😉
This trimmer is very comfortable to hold and double noise didnt put me off of it because I enjoyed my facial hair to be vacuumed. Less cleaning for me after all.
I have noticed that compartment quite quickly fills up, but it will depends on length of the beard and how blessed we are… definitely beard longer than 3cm will be more tricky to be vacuumed, and if so, it will fill the compartment quickly.
As far I noticed, most of my hair been sucked in, only some I found on me or floor so I’m actually pretty impressed but mean time I emptied compartment 3-4 times, including my head hair (my hair looked like ball of fur).
I tried to use this machine with cable plugged in the main and it worked. I’m glad for that because if I forget to charge machine when I want to trim my hair then at least I dont need to wait till it will get full charge. As far I know, machine should last for 90 minute usage, thats 2-3 uses for me.
When I removed trimmers head for wash, I found it a bit difficult to put it back on. Also when I put attachment on top of the head and then wanted to remove it, the head came off together with attachment. I think it’s a matter of practice and few more trims.
I haven’t tried the oil yet, no hair left to do so, but I opened the bottle and couldn’t smell anything..that’s a bit strange because usually it should smell of male scents..
Overall, it’s very nice hair/beard trimmer which takes not much time to trim facial hair and the whole procedure is more clean than used to be without vacuum option. I need get used to removing and putting back head and attachments, that’s a matter of time I think.
Have to say I was surprised by how lightweight this was when it came as given the price I was expecting something a bit more heavy-duty, but it does make it a good option for taking away with you for weekends away/on holiday as it won’t add much weight or bulk to your luggage. And it does feel fairly well made and solid, so isn’t flimsy – just very light!
The vacuum function sounds a bit gimmicky like one of those great ideas you have when you;ve had a few too many beers but it works well with surprisingly good suction for its size and does stop the bulk of all those annoying little beard trimmings going everywhere. but does of course need to be emptied, so what it saves you in wiping down the sink/area that you;re shaving, it then kind of gives it back in adding an extra step of having to empty the chamber that will fill up fairly quick after a few sessions.
Vacuuming aspect aside it;s a good beard trimmer/shaver/styler and is easy to use for good results flicking between the 8 different heads to get the perfect length all over in different areas. The heads are easy to change and stay tight on the trimmer so overall very pleased with it. The oil seems as good as any decent beard oil but if I were buying this in the future I’d go for the one without the beard oil as it;s cheaper, but this one makes for a nice set if buying as a gift.
This beard trimmer is good on shorter beards and the vacuum picks up 50% of the mess,
the description states this is down to technique but I just think it’s one of those things where it is not entirely accurate.
There’s a removable vacuum chamber it is compact but decent enough for my own use, I think it would be a struggle to fit all my hair if I had a full beard.
The trimmer has washable heads a comb and a bag to keep everything together.
The beard trimmer cuts well and is large and robust without being too heavy to hold, it comes with a minty smelling beard conditioning oil which is delightfully refreshing once I’ve finished cutting my beard/stubble.
Overall, Cuts well, large and robust without being too heavy to hold.
I would recommend this product.
Value for money is incredible and this would make a fantastic gift for a man with various length/style/shape beards.
My husband really enjoyed the variety of attachments that came with this and did spend a lot of time trying out the attachments and changing his beard style.
my husband is very fortunate/unfortunate that he needs to shave twice a day even just to maintain his light stubble appearance.
The trimmer glides over the skin, does not catch on any rogue hairs just simply removes them with no scratching.
The hoover aspect of this shaver is the best invention ever although the compartment is small so you do need to check and empty it . Regardless of this the hoover is fantastic and is easy to clean, obviously no more time spent cleaning the sink.
My husband has used this shaver on the go when going straight out from work so saves time in having to stand in front of a mirror of change shirts because his hair is vaccommed away.
The beard oil is divine, only a small amount is needed and the scent of peppermint is really refreshing and clean yet not to over powering.
I’ve heard of beard bib to catch the stray hairs that fall, but the idea of incorporating a vacuum with a bread trimmer definitely gets it’s leg up on convenience and time-saving. The theory of it is fantastic, the execution from actually using it wasn’t quite up to expectations but still, an interesting and positive experience generally compared to your everyday trimmer.
My partner initially used this to just clean up generally around his beard. From pressing the ‘on’ button, the trimmer and vacuum both started. We found the vacuum, which I guess should have been expected, to be pretty loud – maybe something you don’t want to hear all the time but was fine. When my partner started using it, we found there to be much less stray hairs falling into the sink and onto the floor – however, the packaging states it ‘captures up to 96% of hair’, I would probably say about 80% was vacuumed up. The product does come with a specific attachment to clean up the leftover hairs, which helps get even more of them, but if the hairs are slightly wet for instance, they will not suck up.
The kit includes many attachments for the trimmer, making it suitable for trimming a variety of shapes and lengths. He also used it without the attachments and found the trimmer gave a nice close shave. It also comes with a bag to store everything in, which is handy as there are many, many, attachments/accessories in this kit.
The product also comes with Wahl branded beard oil. It comes really nicely packaged and could be given as a gift, The oil has a really nice, minty smell which isn’t overpowering. My partner hasn’t noticed much difference in the condition/health of his beard from using this oil, but will continue using it anyway.
Overall, we found the sound of this product to be better than it really was, but it’s still a really handy and well-functioning trimmer.
I gave the Wahl Beard Trimmer to my son, he has has a beard for around 10 years now. He was pleased to receive this as a gift. I asked how this was in practise and he noted the following. A well made and good quality beard trimmer, he liked the vacuum option functionality on this trimmer. Its nice compact design and easy to handle and fits well in the hand when using. There is a bag to keep different attachments in for the trimmer. The oil was noted as good quality and thought this was good on application and how this felt. The charge time and what you get in running time was thought to be reasonably good and efficient when in usage as to the power this supplied to the beard trimmer. It is straight-forward how to use and produced the desired results to trim and or tidy a beard. If purchased for own usage or for that right person I am should they would be pleased.
I got this as lock-down had made me lazy and my beard needed a trim and the concept of this trimmer interested me.
Out the box the Wahl unit is a plastic affair with not as much weight as I was expecting. This is a good and a bad thing. Good as it’s lightweight in the hand when using, but bad as it does feel (dare I say it) a bit cheap. They have also taken the design decision of using chrome plastic rather than metal which in my opinion adds to this feeling. For the money I would have liked a bit of metal in the handle design.
However it’s how it works that is the number one priority!
You get a number of attachments including clipper heads sized 1 to 8, a carry bag, the charger and a little bottle of oil to name the main ones. Also included is a big yellow sign saying you need clipper oil, so if you come from units that require little or no maintenance, then you will have to get used to oiling the blades.
When I first switched it on the trimmer kicked out air through the exhaust vents on the side which was surprising but showed that the vacuum is sucking. Onto the cutting and I started with a number 4 and then worked my way down to a number 1 and the attachments clip on well and cut as you would expect. I then went to 0 (no attachment) and decided to get rid of the beard – in the name of research!
The vacuum function works quite well but fills up pretty fast if you have a long beard that is being trimmed down. I had a several weeks growth and found the vacuum bin was full after about 3 strokes so you have to empty it quite a bit. You also can’t see how full the bin is when using the trimmer so you end up filling it and then throwing hair all over the sink which tells you it is full. But if you have short stubble or are using it as a close shaver then it’ll work pretty well and means you shouldn’t have too much cleaning to do.
I’ve included a video of the unit in operation vacuuming up some stubble hair samples (is that gross?) using the included vacuum attachment and also a number of photos of the unit.
The beard oil bottle also included is a good little bonus if you are into that thing and is nicely packaged.
So this is a good and novel trimmer, has a good range of attachments, cuts well and is nice to see Wahl adding some innovation into the shaving game.
I ordered this for my husband. He was very excited to receive this trimmer. And I was very excited that this could potentially be a great solution for keeping the bathroom tidy and clean after he trims his beard!!!
The most impressive innovation of this trimmer is the integrated vacuum function. This is a very genuine innovation since I haven’t seen or heard of such function in any other trimmer. And I am so glad to confirm that the vacuum function is almost perfect. It does collect the majority of the facial hear during trimming. WAHL claims that this trimmer captures up to 96% and of hair which is true!
WAHL is a household name in trimmer machines. So you get decades of industry experience and quality with this trimmer. The cutting power is very good. It’s easy and comfortable to hold this in hand. It comes with a 90 minutes run time on single charge.
The adaptor support 110-220 volts therefore you can use it if you travel to North America. But remember to take a UK to USA travel adapter with you as the original adapter is a 3 pin UK adaptor.
This excellent trimmer comes with surprising 5 years warranty from the time of purchase (as a gift also included). The warranty is covered by WAHL UK.
Inside the package it comes with multiple combs, oil of the blades, also a travel bag with 2 zipped pockets. Additionally, a beard oil is also included as a nice bonus.
In conclusion this is an excellent trimmer with an amazing new vacuum function innovation. It’s a must buy for bearded men!
This is a good stubble and beard trimmer which can vacuum nearly all the hair up so less to cleaning up which is a bonus. The charging time is slightly longer than my other trimmer but the battery does last a lot longer and it has the benefit of a 1 minute quick charge which did just last 4 minutes. This trimmer did cut the majority of hair but i did have to go over it for second time so on par with my other one, It loses 1 star as the attachments do feel cheap and not sure how long they will last, the storage bag i am not really impressed with either which is a shame as i feel if the bag and attachments were made better it would feel like a top quality trimmer. The beard oil does smell nice and leaves it feeling soft and well groomed very nice.
This vacuum hair trimmer is something new for me, i never had somethink like this before, it has two engine, one is for trimming and another for vacuum suction, it works great, blades are sharp and cuts clean, it comes with bonus beard oil based on mint wich moisturises beard and face
If any manufacturer stood a chance of being able to cross-breed a shaver and a vacuum cleaner, without it becoming an utterly useless novelty item, then Wahl is probably that company. The products from Wahl I’ve tried in the past have been good examples of technical prowess without any frills, and they’ve tackled this design in a similarly functional way- and it works quite well.
It’s a large shaver, not too heavy but very chunky to hold, unsurprisingly as it’s essentially two machines in one. In some ways it couldn’t be any simpler- charging socket at the bottom, power switch in the thumb position, blades at the top, no surprises there. But when switched on, there are two distinct noises- the shaver, and the suction. As you shave, your hair is persuaded into the compartment at the top, resulting in less hair going onto the sink, floor, clothes or all the other places that hair has the amazing ability to get stuck to.
The main limitation to note is that the description claims it can catch “up to 96%” of hair- but of course, in the real world, that figure turns out to be substantially less. When this shaver arrived I had a full beard on and decided to try shaving the whole thing off, and with these thicker clumps of hair, the vacuum section struggled. Even with the compartment open to its wider setting, the inlet of the compartment would jam up too quickly, and a lot of the clumps would end up getting missed. The compartment is too small for substantial shaves and would fill up, without warning, and then 100% of the hair would be dropping on the floor until you noticed and emptied it again. But then, another day, I let it tackle the regrown stubble that was much less cumbersome- more like dust really- and the performance was far better, catching the majority of the hairs that would normally have dusted the sink.
As a shaver, it’s good. It’s quick and painless, with a clear sharpness that can glide through hairs without a flinch. The head is fairly thin, so more strokes are required, but the results are good. It’s only a trimmer of course, not a full-on shaver, so if you want a full-on clean-shaven look, this trimmer is only the first part of the process- but it does help that part of the process generate less mess, for sure. The accessories selection is thorough, with a good range of lengths available- and the vacuum head for tidying up afterwards on the bits it did miss first time round is a very nice touch.
At time of writing, the package containing the shaver and beard conditioning oil is almost twice the price of the shaver on its own- but this must surely be a pricing quirk, because the conditioning oil is quite pleasant, with a slight zinginess and mintiness in among the usual husky beard oil notes very familiar in the “gentleman’s product” trend. It’s nice enough, but the idea it’s worth almost as much as the shaver is absurd and will surely be corrected.
It’s a really interesting idea, and nicely executed, but there are definite limitations to what it’s capable of, and the dream of a completely mess-free and immediate shave has not quite been attained yet.
As a razor, this isn’t the best I’ve ever used. It’s certainly not bad but it’s cutting ability isn’t quite as good as some others I’ve used.
The vacuum feature however is genius! I’ve never seen this on a razor before and it makes such a difference.
One of the worst things about having a beard / stubble is that the cut is done dry and hair goes everywhere when cutting. A wet shave it tends to stay on the foam / water but a dry shave gets hair everywhere and this vacuum works very well.
It doesn’t catch 100% of the hair but it doesn’t claim to. It states 96% of hair which I think is pretty accurate. You then just slide out the catch tray and bin it, it’s great!
The battery life is brilliant considering it’s a razor and vacuum, and charging is easy. It would be nice to have a dock of sorts with it but it’s just a cable to charge. It has multiple different guards for varying lengths and its a simple one switch operation.
I’d love to give this 5 stars but I have to knock one off as the cut just isn’t perfect. I had to do a couple of passes to get an even cut as it missed hair quite often. It redeems itself with the vacuum feature though so 4/5 stars.
Whoever thought of the idea to add a vacuum to a trimmer is a genius. It has a good vacuum on it and I have attached a video so you can hear how loud it is. Super efficient.
This trimmer is going to be used by a young lad who has autism and has sensory issues with hair touching him when cut, as you can imagine this is going to be a life changing device for him.
This is a nice trimmer with some weight to it. Some trimmers are small and not easy to hold, this is a nice size to hold and very easy to use. It comes with a bag to keep the trimmer and all the attachments in it, oil for oiling the trimmer and also in the kit it has beard oil which is nicely packaged and looks fab if you are giving this as a gift. The beard oil has almond as the base oil and has fresh peppermint tones to it, it’s not an overpowering fragrance, a nice subtle smell.
The trimmer works well and without any attachments gives a very close shave. Enclosed with all the trimmer attachments there is a vacuum attachment which you can use to vacuum up any hair that doesn’t get caught in the trimmer with isn’t that much as it is very efficient.
It has a run time of 90 mins once fully charged and has the option of a quick charge which takes only 1 minute and gives you 4 minutes of use. this is great for those times when you have forgotten to charge it and in a rush to go out. It states there is no battery loss whilst in storage, I have yet to test this. It has two motors, one for the trimmer and one for vacuum so no loss of power on the trimmer.
I would thoroughly recommend this trimmer.
This Hair & Beard trimmer by Wahl certainty peaked my interest. It has a vacuum feature I’ve not seen on a device like this before. I was therefore all too eager to give it a test.
It says it will capture up to 96% of hair. It sucked up the majority of mine. I’m quite impressed with the results actually.
It has an adjustable vacuum intake that you can adjust for both long and short beards. This is great for accommodating different hair and beard lengths. The vacuum chamber is really easy to remove too.
There’s dedicated motors for both the Vacuum and the trimmer so you won’t get any loss of power.
It has precision ground stainless steel blades these are really sharp and provide a clean cut without pulling and tugging. This ca also be removed for cleaning.
The charge lasts 90 minutes from a 90-minute charge and can give you a 4-minute quick use from a 1-minute charge.
The trimmer itself feels really well built and good in the hands. It has an all plastic design but it feels good.
The accessories do feel a little cheap though, the attachments clip on nicely. They just feel a little flimsy.
The bag is also a little cheap. It has two zipped sections but its difficult getting everything in there.
It comes with some Wahl Refresh beard oil, it has a very minty scent to as it contains peppermint, eucalyptus and tea tree.
It soaks in well leaving my beard silky soft and smooth as it features a blend of natural oils.
This is really good if you run out of power mid trim.
The trimmer casing itself is made from plastic and can feel a little cheap but it works well. Basically the same for the attachments too, they could be better quality.
Overall, it’s a decent trimmer.
lovely razor but if the cutting head comes unclipped, its a pig to get back on and you end up breaking 2 white lugs off.
Fortunately this doesn’t seem to stop it working.
Catches enough hair so your Mrs wont moan about leaving the sink messy, leaves enough for her to notice you’ve had a shave and still make an effort
Gives a close shave good produc
This trimmer comes with a fabric case to store everything and the charging lead, though not together, they only fit in seperately. Great for travel if you have one specific head that you use the most.
It comes with a brush, a beard comb and a bottle of oil for the blades. The battery gives about an hour and a half life, but realistically, unless you are Albus Dumbledore, you will never be preening that long.
For an ultra speedy whizz through, there is a quick charge, but this does only give you four minutes use.
My best man friend uses this when he stays and he has determined this is the best trimmer he has ever used. He is not Albus Dumbledore and can use the speed function if he needs to.
Overall, it looks pleasant enough, it is a well thought through device and makes my friend look relatively tidy. Not a bad item and would work well as a gift.
I don’t have a beard – I only shave when forced to so there’s often two weeks’ worth of stubble to tackle -something that’s beyond my regular electric shaver. This beard trimmer makes short work (geddit?) of my stubble allowing an easy final shave.
The vacuum systems claims up to 96% effectiveness. That’s a bit of a fudged statistic, hard to measure! Yes it does collect most of the trimmings, but not all, so there is still some washing down to do.
I haven’t need the various attachments to allow a specific length of beard/stubble to be retained, but they look comprehensive. Other reviews cover this point.
I’m finding this device very useful and I’m still on the initial charge, so battery life is great.
I have tested many different Philips products over the years for Vine. Some have been good, others bad. It can be a bit hit or miss with Philips. This product which is made by Whal is very good and in terms of build quality, it is better than many of the Philips products I have tested. The big drawback to this product is the charger, which is individually made for this item. I travel a lot and don’t really have room for all the charging units I have for products made by different companies. I use a Philishave and so would prefer the same fitting to the charger. It is a minor issue and one that will not affect many people unless you travel a lot.
The product itself is well made and comes with more heads than I will probably ever use. I have used one of the attachments on sideburns and it worked quite well as well as using them for facial hair. With the heads, you can cut between 1.5mm to 25mm. They cut brilliantly, with a smooth action and give you a consistent depth of cut. One of the big advantages of this trimmer is that it has an ability to hoover up 96% of all the hair that gets cut. I have had one of these trimmers before. They work OK, but is it worth paying a premium for this? You will have to decide. Overall, this is a nicely made product, with many uses and I am happy to Recommended it.
While it sounds like a gimmick, the vacuum function of this beard trimmer is one that is genuinely useful, and makes it that little bit easier to use without getting into trouble for clogging up the sink with former beard…
I found that in use it easily captured the majority of the hair, with only a small amount escaping – the difference between clogging up a sink and not being a sorry at all. I found this means that it is easy and convenient to give a beard a quick once over whenever needed without any hassle of having to put down something to catch hair.
The rest of the trimmer is also a pretty solid, if basic, option – you lose the built in adjustable guide of many fancier models for a set of removable guides, but unless you are constantly changing size I don’t really see this as an issue (and having a couple of previous trimmers have the adjuster fail, it is possibly a bonus), it is slightly bulkier than some to accommodate the extra battery and motor, but still easy to use with one hand and I have no complaints with the battery life.
Slightly gimmicky on paper, but a pretty solid product, and one the I would say is definitely worth the money.
I’ve tried this only as a beard trimmer, as I leave my hair (what little is left of it) to the professionals. For the record, I trim my beard once a week — nothing fancy, just short all over.
This is the first vacuum trimmer I’ve used. The vacuum seems to work fairly well, though I haven’t got a micrometer to check the “captures up to 96 percent of hairs” claim, and it is very easy to empty the chamber — just tip it out after taking the cutter off. The dual motors seem to ensure the claimed “maximum suction with no loss of trimming power”; this implies an issue with single-motor vacuum trimmers, but I don’t know if this is the case.
There are twelve trimming combs for different lengths, but as I don’t do any contouring, tapering or anything like that, there are only one or two I need. For the price of this trimmer, I’m not impressed with the quality of the combs; the plastic feels mediocre, and as the combs snap on there’s a risk of breakage. OK, you can buy replacements, but it would be only a minimal cost to provide better quality ones.
I also found that, when changing combs, I tended to pull off the cutting head at the same time; I don’t have this problem with my old trimmer, which has only one slide-on comb of much better quality ; the adjustment is done via settings on the trimmer itself, rather than by a selection of combs. In reality, I don’t need a trimmer with this much variation of trim, so the selection of heads is somewhat wasted on me.
I can’t comment on the battery life/charge time, as the trimmer arrived charged and I used it straight away.
The description omits to inform you that the pack includes a beard comb, a small bottle of blade oil and a storage pouch (which has two small side pockets). The “vacuum head attachment that cleans up stray hairs on any surface”, which sounds a bit over the top, doubles as a blade guard for protection when stored.
Aside from being a bit nippy and having to go through the faff of oiling it each time, this is a powerful razor. The vacuum feature means it sounds like you’re hoovering up your face, a rather pleasing woosh sound accompanying your vanishing stubble. It does suck up the majority of hair meaning the wife doesn’t shout at me for not cleaning the sink afterwards. It doesn’t offer the closest shave but then it’s advertised more as a trimmer for hipsters and people from Essex. It has about thirty six attachments to cut to your desired length with imperceptible differences, a brush, a comb, and a sack to keep it in. Fast charge and decent battery too.
This review concerns the Wahl Vacuum Stubble and Beard Trimmer, price at review 79.99.
A powerful, compact rechargeable trimmer with unusually, a built in vacuum facility that the manufacturers claim a 96% success rate for.
Apart from that, this is a typical high quality device from the brand leaders in this market.
The lithium battery operated motor for both cutting and vacuum, coupled with the quality stainless steel blades give Excellent results.
Included in the package are a multitude of comb sizes and a rather useful travel storage pouch.
Although slim in design, the trimmer feels comfortable in use. The lithium battery recharges in about 85-95 minutes and gives about 100 minutes continuous use.
Bit of a price hike, compared to other trimmers but the vacuum feature makes this Wahl model stand out in a crowded market.
Great idea putting a vacuum into a beard trimmer, basically it stops all that mess in the bowl, down you or over the floor. The trimmer is a substantial piece of kit, appearing solid and well made. I trims well and collects most of the trimmed hair, the escaped bits you can vacuum up after. It comes with a neat carry case into which you can put the various heads etc.. I would have liked a more adjustable head instead of a fist full of different sized heads, there is a small adjustable head but it is not as good as some competitors, and would not cover a lot of beards. Basically I like it but will also use my fully adjustable trimmer, particularly when travelling, it takes up less room. I will reserve this trimmer for home.
This is my third beard trimmer – my first was a very expensive one by Phillips which had a dial to select different beard lengths and was very good for a number of years until the dial went wrong and gave different lengths of beard from 18mm to 1mm in one shave. I replaced it with a much more basic Braun trimmer which gave different beard lengths with interchangeable cutting heads – basic but foolproof and again worked very well. HOWEVER, the Phillips had an integral vacuum system to collect the hair and the Braun didn’t and my wife very quickly got annoyed with little piles of hair around the bathroom. Enter the Wahl which also uses nine interchangeable cutting heads to give different beard lengths BUT does have an integral vacuum system to catch the cut hairs and collect them in a little container. It works very well, although not perfectly as I found out when trimming my greying beard while wearing a black jumper – not a good look – and certainly a lot less than the claimed 96% suction capture.
Unlike the Braun this trimmer also comes with a soft fabric case to store the shaver/cutting heads or possibly the charging lead – although not all three. Also included are a small plastic beard comb, a cleaning brush and a bottle of oil which it is recommended that you use regularly on the trimmer blades. The lithium Ion battery gives up to 90 minutes cordless use from one 90-minute charge and there is also a 1-minute quick charge function that gives you four minutes of use. To be honest I’m not keen on the silver finish which looks a bit cheap – and obviously it’s not – but this does seem like a well-made and well-thought out trimmer.
Wahl is a respected brand in mens grooming, and this beard trimmer does nothing to detract from that reputation. The novel feature is the built vacuum which does an OK job in catching the clippings. However it is nowhere near 96%. They do say that it depends on technique – so maybe I will have to adjust my approach if I want it to do better, but for me I would say it was closer to 70%.
The blades are sharp and the battery life is OK as well – with the one miute charge feature providing a quick 4 minute catch up if you get taken by surprise. I personally prefer an adjustable cut length – rather than lots of different length attachments – but I guess if you stick to one length a single attachment is better. That said it is not hard to change them. The only real downside is that this does make a lot of noise. Well with a vacumm it is bound to I suppose. There is no way to turn it off either.
Overall: Vacuum is a good idea and this is a good trimmer.
Is this a gimmick?
A vacuum on a shaver!!!
Not too sure.
The trimmer/shaver is good.
The vacuum…not convinced.
Wahl isa a decent brand for me, but this is a step to much.
My wife’s main complaint when I trim up my beard is the amount of hair I manage to leave around the wash basin.
This shaver has put paid to that little domestic argument forever.
I was a bit dubious that it would work. After all incorporating a vacuum cleaner into a shaver seems a bit far fetched.
But work it does and extremely well to!
I suppose that, being a Wahl product, I shouldn’t be surprised but I was.
The shaver has a good, heavy feel to it and is supplied with the charger and a selection of 9 different height cutter guard combs so you can select one most suitable for your particular beard.
I would start with a longer guard, shave once and then change to a shorter guard and shave again. This ensures that the cut is evenly maintained and comfortable.
The shaver is pretty quiet in use especially considering there are 2 motors running; one for the blade drive and one for the vacuum cleaner section.
Wahl say that the vacuum captures up to 96 percent of shaved hairs. I feel that’s a very conservative estimate!
There is also a vacuum head attachment simply for cleaning up stray hairs on any surface. So far I have not needed to use that as the vacuum sucked up everything the cutters removed.
It comes with a beard comb, a cleaning brush and a small bottle of lubrication oil for the cutters. (Make sure, like all shavers that you keep it clean and well oiled!)
Also supplied is a double zipped storage bag which, although a bit of a squeeze, will take everything except the power/charger unit.
As I say, I am very impressed with this shaver and would recommend it wholeheartedly if you’re in the market for a new trimmer/shaver.
This new Wahl stubble and beard trimmer’s claim to fame is that it is currently the most powerful vacuum trimmer. It’s claimed that around 96 per cent of hair can be collected in the internal hair chamber. For the hairs that escape there’s an adapter to allow the unit to function as a small vacuum to clean surfaces that may have hair on them.
In addition to the main unit, and the vacuum adapter, you get eight different combs, a beard comb, a cleaning brush, some blade oil, an adjustable comb, a charger and carry case! It is safe to say that pretty much every adapter is included! This of course is reflected in the price to some extent. This is certainly one of the most expensive Wahl products about. That is marked by a high-quality Lithium Ion battery though, a five-year guarantee, and powerful dual motors which will cut through the thickets beard. There’s a quick charge function as well for four-minutes use and a 90 minute battery lifetime once fully charged.
This is, overall, a very impressive unit, with a high build quality. The only issue, in addition to perhaps the cost, is that this is only a stubble and beard trimmer. It will not provide a clean shave – the minimum cutting length is 0.5mm. Nor can it be used on any other parts of the body including the head.
More me the unit is a little too specialised but if you have a beard and/or stubble it is worth consideration. Four stars.
