This product has helped me reverse my gum disease. Best to use Luke warm water mixed with mouthwash. Only downside is that it’s difficult to order replacement heads / attachments
Great for getting food deposits from between your teeth. A bit bulky for going away for a weekend though
Very good product we where recommended by our dentist to keep our gums hygienic clea
I’ve had a few different water flossers over the past few years, this is by far the best! Bit more expensive but we’ll worth the extra. Very powerful jet to get right in there, snd a decent size reservoir. Great product!!
Powerful cleaning my teeth feel healthy after using this product for several months now
Best on the market in my opinion, easy to use after practice!
A bit fiddly, a bit bulky in a small bathroom. Works well though. Add mouthwash into the tank. Use warm water.
Having tried a handheld device which just didn’t last long enough, this lets you do a proper job.
I have had no more bleeding gums since I started using it, yet it can be as gentle and pleasant as you choose.
It fits a bathroom shaver socket, unlike others you can’t use at the sink.
Leaves mouth feeling really clean. You can adjust the pressure of the water jet to suit the situation. I would recommend starting low until you are used to it. I would highly recommend using warm water. DO NOT USE COLD WATER!!! Very good results from this water flosser.
We used a Phillips handheld water flossed before this. I’m amazed how much water it goes through (full tank each use) but it certainly makes your mouth feel clean and fresh – much better than the smaller hand held ones
Only used for a few days, but it is easy to use and I am hoping to see some good results.
I often get stuff trapped between my teeth, I spend time flossing, teepee brushes and still get bits and small animals trapped between my gnashers. This is powerful and fires water around my teeth gums and takes a while to control. I’m not a trained fireman but it is that level of water pressure that you have to direct. Seriously its saved cash on mouth wash teepee brushes and will probably pay for itself over a yea
My teeth and gums have never felt as clean and it’s much more affective than flossing alone.
I didn’t go for the cordless models as I wanted something that packed some power. It’s best to use it on full power that way your getting better results. This of course means your getting through the water much quicker but not a big deal just to fill it back up 2 or 3 times.
It seems good value for money. I haven’t got anything to really compare it with as it’s my first water flosser I’ve used.
My only criticism is that it’s noisy, very noisy, especially when your using it on the highest setting.
Other than that it works really well for me and I definitely notice the difference in how my teeth and gums feel afterwards.
It seems to do a great job. Clears your mouth/teeth out of any residue before brushing. A bit large for travelling.
I’ve flossed my teeth all my life, using tape as part of my toothbrushing routine, my teeth have always felt super clean after each wash.
On a recent trip to my dentist, he mentioned that the floss tape wasn’t the most effective on the molars right at the back due to the angles used. He told me to look at the water floss machines and quickly explained that they were incredibly effective at clearing out all the gunk.
I was due back to the dentist a day or two later with my son for his checkup and mentioned how I had purchased the machine and that it had completely changed my routine. This little machine does a fantastic job and after procrastinating for years about buying it I’m just annoyed I didn’t sooner.
Would recommend highly in place of normal flossing. Better clearance, less gum irritation and for a refresh. I actually enjoy using this
Downsides small water tank, cable is too short to reach outlets which are at the top of lights over sinks.
The title of my review says it all. I initially bought this for a problematic, partially erupted wisdom tooth that gives me gyp every now and then. If you’ve ever had it have one, you know how difficult it can be to keep it super clean.
To be fair, this does do the job, the problem is, it also ‘cleans’ half the bathroom with mouthwash in the process.
I gave 4 stars because it is pretty powerful, so it does do what it says-but I knocked a star off for how cumbersome it is, and how incredibly messy. Perhaps it’s just me being a clumsy oaf, but there is no way to use this without covering everything within a 2 metre radius with wate
It’s a good little flosser, and probably better than any other at a comparable price; but over time it will accumulate limescale, on the inside where you can’t see it: particularly if you live in a hard water area. So when you notice the pressure seems to be dropping a touch, and/or the motor begins to cough and splutter, it’s time to run through a little white vinegar, let it soak for a while, then rinse it out. Probably best to do it on a regular basis anyway.
Bought it as a gift for my husband and he loves it. It was the first time he used one water flosser and I checked the reviewes before I purchased. Not disappointed. He has an implant and he used to get food stucked in it with very difficult acces to get rid of. Now he feels the difference massively as he flosses this area and the food comes out quite easily.
So far I’ve only used it a few times and it does the job it was bought for. It is quite loud though and it feels quite cheap but it’s working and doing what it needs to. I’ve got the pressure set to 7 out of 10 for a nice meaningful deep clean but I do wish it wasn’t set so high as it leads me to believe it’s not got the head room it may need later in it’s life. Much more preferable than using interdental brushes or string floss though.
Like others have stated, use warm water for a more comfortable experience.
My last visit to the dreaded dentist i was told i have slight gum disease so may need further treatment. I immediately sought this machine as recommended by a friend as having used it now for a couple of weeks can feel the difference! My teeth are so smooth, gums feel firmer and the plaque feels like its going! One of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time!
Have been using this product for about 6 weeks and it has vastly improved my oral hygiene. Have struggled to be able to floss my bottom teeth as they are quite crowded and overlap and subsequently used to get quite a bit of bleeding gums in the past . Since using the Waterpik this has stopped and my teeth look and feel much better. Purchased this after a visit to the dental hygienists and it has maintained the high level of cleanliness that was achieved by them . This is a great investment and would highly recommend purchasing one . Wouldn’t be without mine now as I absolutely love it.
Despite it being more noisy than powerful it definitely cleans what my electric toothbrush doesn’t! If I had one gripe it’s that I find the coiled hose cumbersome and feel it’s necessary to hold the unit down so that it doesn’t tip. It’s sturdy but the hose does pull when moving it around my mouth. I was lucky enough to get this on a Black Friday deal but I don’t think it warrants a higher price for this basic model.
I love this water flosser. I had one a long time ago which I used for at least a decade. The one I replaced it with was portable but nowhere near as good. This one is so versatile. It has a huge water pressure range and lots of additional pik tips to use as and when required. I’m is definitely worth the price.
Apart from annoying price fluctuations, this is an excellent product that is exactly as described and super easy to use. It’s worth the 69 paid.
Don’t expect to view your teeth in the mirror DURING the water flossing – you can enjoy the view AFTER using the water floss. Keep your mouth mostly closed to prevent water from spraying all over and look downwards slightly so that the water can trickle from your mouth into the sink/basin. While using the water floss, you can watch the food bits ejected and watch the water level in the reservoir to estimate how much time you have left before the water runs out to finish your dental cleaning.
It can be shared at home (within & with hygiene limits), making it highly economical.
Water floss cannot replace string floss but this is an excellent addition to one’s daily dental routine:
Electric Toothbrush + String Floss + Water Floss + Mouthwash
You can skip some string floss sessions when you use the water floss at higher water speeds of 8-10, but should still floss at least once every 2 days for optimal dental hygiene.
It’s great using the water floss after every meal and before you head out of the house and have to wear a face mask (so you don’t have to inhale the consequences of a dirty mouth).
Start at the LOWEST setting. Gradually increase the speed and get accustomed to it, before finding the highest water speed setting that you can comfortably handle.
Lower speeds below 5 are suited for massage and rinsing rather than proper cleaning.
Water speed 8-9 seems like the best compromise between effectiveness and comfort.
At maximum speed 10, there is quite a bit of spraying on your face and the surroundings and it’s a bit overwhelming and slightly painful for some.
If you have enough bathroom space & seek to purchase just 1 water flosser (for the time being at least) – I suggest purchasing this counter-top model rather than the portable/travel type which is generally less effective despite being quite bulky for a handheld device and costs around the same or more.
If you don’t have enough bathroom space – consider using this at your kitchen sink instead.
I had 4 pre-molars extracted as a teen and so have gaps between some of my back teeth, so food gets stuck there a lot. I also used to get bleeding gums when brushing. Flossing was a chore but this was recommended by my dentist and it’s brilliant.
As others have recommended, use lukewarm water – too cold or too hot will be very uncomfortable. Start on the lowest setting and work your way up over the course of several days until you reach a comfortable level. It’s a bit noisy but you’ll be amazed at the amount of stuff that this thing cleans out.
This device was suggested to by my dentist, due to a gum inflammation problem. I thought this would be another gimmick, but one day, when my gum was painful, I saw it on promotion and spontaneously bought it.
It is actually a great device, and I am always surprised, how much stuff comes out, that was lodged in my teeth. I even went travelling with it, so no more pain for the rest of the holiday, after something getting stuck.
If food gets stuck frequently in your teeth and causes gum problems, this device is a lifechanger.
There is a version for traveling not this so the low star rating for that should be ignored
It is quite expensive for what it is however the product works and is useful for me and Was recommended by dentist
The one drawback is that when using it is easy for water to splash the walls
First time I purchased this was on Dec 10 2018 and it lasted about 2 years and half of daily use. Last week it stopped working and I ordered new one immediately without trying to fix it. I knew it was not going to work again and for me I am quite happy with how long it lasted. This is very reliable product and it overall contributed positively to my oral health. I wish they ship new version of it with couple of updates/improvements:
-Support for 120/240 volts.
-Better tank quality (current one is plastic and accumulates calcium deposits)
-Better hose quality (the current one bends easily)
-Further lower settings (that could be used to flush your tonsils).
-Sharper tips.
-Unified prices for all the available colors, better availability in amazon and other major sellers.
Excellent product overall. I am extremely satisfied with it.
So I bought this product a while ago and decided to do a review. Firstly I tried the battery type product but that died due to a design flaw (the cover for the charging port gets water in it causing it to short and stop working). This is MUCH better. It has a bigger water containment system so it doesn’t run out very quickly compared to the battery type. Not only that, but the water stream is much more powerful because of the constant electrical supply. NOTE: the heads of the battery type and the electrical type are NOT interchangeable so you will still need spares if you keep this for a long time. If you need to properly clean the teeth at the back of your mouth then this is the best thing you can buy. USE VERY WARM WATER otherwise cold will hurt your teeth!
Seems a bit flimsy compared to the now unavailable Kitty Irrigator and the massage function is not essential, but this model is smaller than the others and an essential bit of kit to keep your teeth healthy, especially in these covid days when dentists are too busy.
Happy so far, although judging by some of the other reviews I’m wary it’ll last as it appears they break down easily. I’ll re-edit the review if it happens.
I got this because I’m generally terrible at flossing and have been having bad problems with my gums for awhile.
I can honestly say it’s definitely had a positive effect after a month or so’s use, and I’ve really only used it once a week. Pretty much a powerhouse for teeth, I was surprised at how clean it got the spaces between teeth after one run.
OMG I can’t believe I lived without this for so long. I hate flossing as I’m sure everyone does. I used to use the Philip’s Water Flosser however the water tank on it is so small it constantly needs topping up. Plus I had been through 2 already as they kept breaking and the power on the water spurts couldnt be adjusted and they were no good to clean under the gum line, just in between teeth.
So now I got this waterpik which I always wanted and it cleans in between the teeth and also under the gumline. My gums dont bleed anymore and they feel very very clean. There already two settings on this, massage and floss. There are 10 power level settings. I usually use number 8. 1 tank full usually cleans all my mouth thorough.
I love this and I will probably now want to get the portable version of the waterpik for when I go travelling (hoping that is soon when things are back to normal, as I dont do the new normal!).
It really is a very useful thing. It complements the flossing. You can floss less and it takes stress of the teeth. Probably better than oil-pulling too. It seems to be one of the best water flossers on the market. The water container is the right size. I only use one – the highest – power setting, but it is strong enough. The handle is not perfectly comfortable and the machine a bit flimsy. But that is unimportant. I am glad I bought this flosser and don’t know of a better alternative.
However there is one serious flaw:
The water container deforms if you put very hot water in it. Heat is the best disinfectant, hence a different – more expensive obviously – material should have been used. It would be ideal if one could run boiling water through the whole system. I haven’t tried that. But I did try disinfecting the container and ordering replacement wasn’t 100% straightforward. Including the delivery it ended up costing 20.
I would have preferred paying 20 more for the original unit with a better container. Like the toothbrush, the water flosser is a dental/medical device and saves future visits to the dentist. So what are 20, or 120 for that matter, compared to that? Personally I would prefer paying double for a medical grade flosser made of stainless steel, glass and silicone through which I could just run boiling water once a week, or even triple for one that would boil the water itself and have a simple thermometer on the container for ease of use.
Also it comes with this patronizing shaver socket plug. I have to use an adapter and the ones I found fit so-so.
I have understanding for the manufacturer marketing to people unwilling to take care of their health before they get sick, some ignorant enough to take their baths with a hairdrier and install a coffee-maker in the shower if you let them have a real socket there. But it is my review, and personally I would love a medical grade water flosser with a 3-pin plug.
If the flosser survives a few years, I will amend the rating to 5.
I HATE flossing. Hate it. It hurts, the floss gets stuck and my gums bleed every time.
However, I also hate going to the dentist and getting told off.
This is an expensive alternative to floss, but if you can stretch to it I would highly recommend it.
It’s a beautiful looking product, and easy to use. Loads of heads which are easy to fit and all their purposes are explained well in the instructions.
Fundamentally, fill it with warm water, stick it in your gob and turn it on.
It’s great, gets between all your teeth and you feel a different version of clean after.
It’s honestly superb.
Been using this at least once per day alternating with using interdental brushes for about 2 months. So too early to assess its long term effectiveness, but subjectively seems to work at least as well as the interdental brushes. Good at reaching difficult to access places and also can be used from the either side of gaps. Echo comments in some other reviews that one has to learn the technique of using it so water doesn’t end up going everywhere and it is quite noisy. It isn’t portable so not suitable for travel use. I got this when it was heavily discounted as an Amazon Black Friday deal, so was good value, otherwise I might have been put off by its normal prize on Amazon.
This product is slightly more effective than floss (when floss is used correctly). It is by no means a necessity, but the marginal improvement is still noticeable, and the product is far easier to use than floss (which in practice translates to a more than marginal improvement, since most people fail to floss, and when they do so, do not use effective technique). On some occasions, floss can cause irritation of the gums by cutting into them, whereas this product does not have that issue. If you already have a solid dental hygiene routine, this product will make an excellent addition to it, and is a solid investment. It is not, however, a magic pill.
Ok, so this is my second Waterpik, the first was recommended to me by my dentist because I suffered from bleeding gums and regular, expensive and painful trips to the hygienist. After a few tries and getting used to the water pressure, no more issues with my gums. You notice straight away how effective it is, your mouth feels really clean and you can’t help running your tongue around the edges as though you have just been to the dentist feeling! My old one packed in and I bought this because it had great reviews. With this being my 2nd Waterpick I immediately noticed some improvements:- 1. The lid is now hinged and no longer falls off when you are trying to refill the reservoir. 2. There is an on/off switch on the implement which is brilliant because that means you can stop the water flow which helps when you need to take a breather. 3. It is not as bulky as my last one and sits nicely in my bathroom unit. 4. The cord is slightly longer so no issues on it coming out, see pics above. This is much more effective than manual flossing because it reaches all the nooks and crannies that you cannot see. I have also introduced it to my 9yr old son who thinks this is a great water machine for now but please ensure the setting is very low at first because the water jet is very strong. As soon as you get used to it you can up the setting as you prefer.
Unfortunately my Waterpik developed a fault after a few days and keeps switching itself off. I have contacted the seller and they are sending my a replacement which is great. Don’t let this put you off buying a Waterpik, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked for a replacement. I just wanted to give you an honest review.
Despite using an electric toothbrush I still find I would have to floss to remove debris between my teeth. Often the floss would get stuck or cut into the gum. Because I have several crowns and an implant, my dentist is always telling me how important it is to floss as well as brush! I saw one of these in my dentist’s so asked what they are like, got good feedback so thought I would get one. After a bit of research decided it was worth spending a few extra pounds on this model. I would advise anyone to watch a “how to” video on YouTube; I made a bit of a mess of my bathroom on my first attempt! This model is quite bulky, but just fits on my bathroom sink. It has a two pin plug which fits any shaver socket. It is mains operated so must be plugged in to use. There is a good size water tank which you fill with warm water (cold gives you quite a shock!). Several different head attachments, so far just used the standard head, but will try the others. You can store some of them behind the water tank. There is an on/off switch on both the unit and the hand held flosser. This is really useful because you need to make sure you have put the spout in your mouth before turning it on. Pressure is adjustable too, so start low and as you get used to it you can increase it. I am really impressed by how effective this is! I always brush first, then floss. It manages to get everything out from between your teeth, including plaque. My mouth and teeth feel so much cleaner after!
After a scary trip to the dentist, who told me I need quarterly trips to the hygienist until my gums improve – I through I’d try this as my teeth are too close together to use floss, and I only get 1 use from a TePe brush before it’s knackered, on researching this, there is loads of accreditation and performance data, strangely only on the WaterPik website, so reserving judgement for how well it actually works – but hey, for 60 odd quid, I’ll give it a go.
This comes with a load of accessories, toothbrush head, periodontal pocket tip, 3x normal heads and a plaque seeker head (for braces) – the unit is quite small, and comes with a 2-pin (shaver socket) plug – so make sure you have a socket – was concerned as mine is part of the bathroom cabinet, but the flex is reasonably long – maybe 1m? and reaches fine.
Worth a read of the instructions, along with the specific tip uses before you get started, as it takes some getting used to, I’ve nearly drowned myself with it, and covered the bathroom in water numerous times.
That aside, I’m very pleased with it, it does a great job, and hopefully, in the long run cheaper than a pack of TePe brushes a week!
A few reviewers have commented that theirs has packed up, and been replaced or refunded by Amazon, Worth noting that WaterPik themselves offer a 3 year warranty on this product.
