Bought for a laptop (Dell 5415) in November 2021 for 75.99.
I didn’t need a Gen 4 but preferred one with DRAM cache. This was easy to fit and has been no trouble at all.
Can’t go wrong with the speed and deal at the time.
The drive is plenty fast and loads up games and whatever you put on it really quickly. It is a solid well working drive that get everything done insanly fast. Perfect for people wanting an fast m.2 drive with pcie gen 4 speeds.
Very good quality product, had it over a year and i’m happy with it, definitely buying it agai
WD do it again, great drive that was extremely easy to install. I would advise if your motherboard does not have built in heat control for M.2 drives then I would say you would definitely need to get one also.
Fantastic speeds on both read and write, 16xpcie on my 590 rog strix board. Its actually a nice looking drive but I can’t see it!
The drive was very well built, delighted with delivery as there was zero damage to the box.
Currently using this in a Gen3 slot, thus I cannot say if the Gen4 feature works good or not but this was an upgrade from a HDD and I have certainly noticed the difference. From what took me 10 minutes to boot up my computer, now with this, takes me about 10 seconds to get to my Desktop and another 10 seconds to have all my startup apps loaded.
I use this for gaming quiet often and it works flawlessly for load times and transferring files across drives. I have been using this for months now and I don’t know why I didn’t get this years ago.
I had bought this for 70 GBP (about $85 USD at the time) and for that price, is an absolute steal.
if your poor like me. and you cant afford 2tb stick. just buy this 1tb stick. fill it with games. lock your door and seperate yourself from those people who all live downstairs called family. then youll have way more space because you wont leave the room with your lightining fast loading times. you wont have time to shower inbetween loading levels. you wont be able to finish peeing before your computer hits the desktop from pressing that power button. all in all. 10 outta 10
The ssd was awkward to fit because of the motherboard slot location, between the graphics card and cpu. Not helped by the extreme air cooling that i have on the cpu.
Once I found a screwdriver that could get into the available space it literally took two minutes.
Performance is faster than older sata ssd units, but not as fast as the wd850 series. It is great for use as a pc boot drive, but NOT fast enough for a PS5.
For the price it’s a good piece of kit and is working well as a boot drive. Yes 1tb is overkill, but it means I won’t have to clear down the files often!
You need a small NVME adaptor ( costing 10) in addition to this SSD in order to fit this into a 2015 MacBook Pro.

once installed press ALT + CMD +R to start up in internet recovery mode and download the latest Mac OS.
use disk utility to format the drive to APFS and then let it install Monterey.
Job done.
I installed this on the G14 Asus Laptop with an external USB C SSD adapter. Has been working great since buying it 6 months ago. Thought that it might run hot, but surprisingly runs cool at about 46C even without any heatsink or thermalpad. It was easy to install and clone with the included software by WD. Overall happy with my purchase.
Like:
– Easy to install and clone drive
– Runs cool
– Reliable
Dislike:
– None
Only good part about the 2042 version of the SSD is the SSD and a decent price, the game is just like those tacked on antivirus software when you buy a new laptop.
SSD is faultless does what it says on the box, However I got battlefield 2042 for free! and after playing it I believe I deserve a refund as for being put through that experience. 10/10 SSD 1/10 Offe
Way back in the gold old days read-write speeds were about 15 mbs or there abouts, Now wee see monsters like this M.2 drive with speeds vastly beyond comprehension. This drive is about 15 months old and I know newer and faster drives are on the market, but with speeds this drive offers as there any reason to go faster unless you are in such a hurry to transfer 10gb file that few 3 or 4 seconds will be the end of the world for you. Na didn’t think so.. This drive is well worth it’s weight in gold and looking at the numbers you will agree.
Overall well worth the buy and brilliant speeds to boot

Not compatible for PS5, you need at least a WD_BLACK SN850 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4
Not bad at all this is the first time using this m.2 drive and worked fine.
Will def use agai
Great to see drives this fast at decent price points. It has been my primary OS drive on my computer for a while now and it is about as fast as it gets on PCI Gen 3. Very happy with it’s performance, the perfect primary drive.
It’s a little difficult to write a review of an NVME drive. It’s does everything it advertises it will. Which I guess is a glowing review given not all NVME drives do.
As always it’s the price that makes or breaks it and 45 was very good.
Very happy with this purchase. This is the cheapest PS5 compatible nvme drive(Make sure to buy pcie 4 version 🙂 . Bought for PS4 games so internal memory will stay for PS5 games but still manage to work with current PS5 games with no problems. Highly recommend A+++
First time installing an NVMe M.2 drive. It was as simple as you could want it to be. Once installed I had forgot to activate the drive on my PC so took me a few minutes to do it. I installed my OS onto it and the startup time went from around 30 seconds on my SSD to around 3-4 seconds. I have noticed several noticeable improvements in the loading times and copying times.
Overall I am very happy I purchased this and would recommend if you are thinking of upgrading your storage
I wanted to extend my system drive’s capacity with more SSDs, hence I purchased this WD SN750 SSD. After testing it with open-source tools on Linux, I found out that this is an excellent SSD drive at really reasonable price (I got it on an Amazon deal). This drive is a bit higher than the entry level SSDs out there, but of course is not mid-range or high-end one. However, it does a great job in terms of performance; if you are a programmer and do a lot of compilation or parallel computing/programming, this can work very well and smoothly (very good performance). Also, I can see this an excellent choice (considering the price) for gaming. Here are the results of my test (a couple of photographs attached as well), read speed from buffer is on almost 2.4 GB/s in 0.45 seconds (very good, despite the advert indicates 3.4 GB/s – You will not get the maximum speed at all from any drive, please read below), write speed is about 800 MB/s in 1.3 seconds which is not bad at all. Usually, any read/write data you see on the advert of such drives is theoretical data which the hardware may not achieve it at all, even 2/3 of it.. I do recommend this SSD for professional use as well as gaming given its low price; if you want higher than the above figures, then you may go for high-end drive with more cost.. This review given in a good faith, so I hope to be helpful.
Easy to install but make sure you get a heatsink or it will overheat and under perform.
Read speads are about 3300mb on the ps5 so is under what they recommend but after watching a digital foundry video all the os5 only games store and play off the m.2 drive with minimal and negligible time differences.
I also sold the battlefield code before release so after the deal and the sale I got 500gb of ps5 storage for 35 quid so I’m very happy
1st image from WD Black SN750 500Gb on a Startech X4 PCIe to M.2 PCIe SSD adapter attached to a Gigabyte X570 board with Ryzen 5 5600X
2nd image, EXACTLY the same WD Black SN750 500Gb on a Startech X4 PCIe to M.2 PCIe SSD adapter attached to an older GA-970A-DS3 running an AMD Athlon 2 X3 455.
Of course it’s SLOWER when running on older tech / versions of PCIe
This thing FLIES – recommended
I upgraded from a HDD to the WD Black SN750 SSD and the speed improvements are outstanding. My system jumped to 3425.00mb/s read speeds and 2710.86MB/s with the WD Black SSD. I’ve left a screenshot from Crystal Disk Mark and my computer spec:
Windows 11 Home
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
WD Black SN750 500GB High-Performance NVMe Internal Gaming SSD
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 3.50GHz
GeForce GTX 1050 with 2GB GDDR5
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Amazing! Simply the best performance boost I’ve ever seen.
Excellent PCIE gen 4 drive. The speeds are great, definitely shaves off load times with some of my heavy duty games like Red Dead 2 and Call of Duty. Installs easily into the m.2 socket on the motherboard. It’s quite pricey but definitely one to look out for when on sale.
Nicely packaged, fast.
Wish they would include the screw to hold the drive in place. On my MB (Asus) they have covers over the drives and the screw(s) are longer than normal to accomodate this, so when I fitted the WD drive with the fitted heatsink, I couldn’t use the MB screw because it was too long. However, overcome this snag by using several very small rubber washers and they seem to be doing the job.
Fitted to Acer Nitro gaming laptop after realising that it never came with a MMC as standard. After a bit of research, I was pleased to know that adding this MMC would boost performance and it certainly did. Ran a few benchmarks and the improvement was amazing. The laptop performs like a different machine and the startups a fast!
Got this as it was fairly cheap for an Gen 4 SSD and saw some youtubers trying out the lower capacity model which outperformed it’s stats on the PS5 (this does even better)
So far i have tried it with Miles Morales at performance and fidelity modes and God of War, and could tell no difference when playing from the PS5’s internal SSD.
Needs a heatsink though.
Bought to allow more breathing space than the 256GB drive that came with my system, the PCIe Gen.3 SN750 1TB achieves sequential read/writes of around 3000MB/s as expected, along with random small file read/writes of 60MB/s.
While the latter doesn’t sound all that impressive, I have a 10TB WD Black internal mechanical S-ATA drive for archiving purposes, and that manages speeds of 196MB/s for sequential read/writes, and speeds of 4MB/s for random 4K read/writes.
There are faster PCIe Gen4 NVME drives out on the market right now but, if your motherboard doesn’t support that interface type, you’ll be paying a premium for speeds that your PC won’t be capable of.
This SSD has had rave review from the masses – and I’ve probably owned it for about 4 months now and it’s been flawless. I used to own a A400 SSD from Kingston which was a grave mistake as the SSD didn’t have NAND flash which meant that read and write speeds were painfully slow. However, after upgrading to this the difference has been night and day with the PC booting up before my monitor can even turn on – this is about 10 seconds on a Ryzen 5 26000 computer. This is explained by the incredible read speeds of about 3347.6MB/s (MegaBytes) which is as advertised so am really impressed compared to my previous Kingston experience. Furthermore, the write speeds are also very impressive and perfect for my needs clocking in at 2688.3MB/s write speeds which more than suffices for my needs.
Before due to my write speeds being crippled to about 60MB/s pretty much the same as a mechanical hard drive! Game installs were considerably slower as the game would’ve been downloaded however, it would always be waiting on the hard drive to write the download to the disk due to the uncompression required for many modern games. However, now it’s night and day and am now limited by my internet connection and no longer the other way round.
I’d definitely recommend this SSD to anybody looking for a lightning fast SSD with performance that’ll blow you away – however, it’s considerably more expensive than other alternatives – however, it’s likely considerably better quality, more performant and manufactured by a more respectable brand! I would definitely recommend paying the little extra to have 500gb over 250gb as you’ll find once you’ve installed windows and a couple of programs you’re close to 80% full – so make the additional leap and get the 500gb so you don’t have to hot swap applications whenever you want to use one that isn’t installed – that was also the other mistake that I made when buying my Kingston A400.
Good product however doesn’t have any screws to physically screw it in, not a problem bc I had spares but could be a issue for others.
Battlefield 2042 PC standard edition came with it inside the box with a working code, read the instructions on the card when redeeming it though
ook me a second to install and I cloned my boot drive to this ssd. It went as smoothly as it could. The speeds are excellent. The advertised max read was 3430 MB/s and in my first test with after cloning the boot drive in was 3491 MB/s as we can see from the picture. I paid 59.39 for 500gb, totally worth i
I got this for my C: drive in a new build, I was going to get a Western Digital Green or Blue anyway and then add heatshield later. But the Black worked out better value as supplied with heatshield in the packet.
The packaging protects the drive well and includes a basic installation guide and warranty paperwork. The heatshield is attached but can be unscrewed. No mounting screws and supports included but I had these from a motherboard screw-set. (Maybe that’s normal I’m unsure).
Fits well on my Msi B450 board sitting just above the graphics card. Attached standoff in longest position, slid into M2 slot and screwed into standoff. Inserted a Windows 10 iso in USB, installer detected M2 drive and had windows up and running in under five minutes (not including all the updates). An SSD would be more like 20 minutes and a HDD more like 1 hour.
I do computer repairs and sell used gaming pc’s or custom orders, I will recommend M2 to everyone if their motherboard allows now, especially as similarly priced to SSD and has big speed improvements
I think this is definitely the future of storage and ill be buying a 1TB or larger for storage soon as game loading times are almost zero now (my build is Ryzen 5 3600. 8GB DDR4, 1650 4GB VENTUS OC, M2 WD Black 500GB) in Corsair 280X case
Acquired an old laptop, that had no HDD.
Did some research on a good fast SSD to give the laptop some life.
Brought this, was installed in like 2 minutes, and the very laptop i’m writing this on was alive and installing shortly afterwards.
This laptop shows no load times for anything, although i’ve not done anything massively intensive on it yet. Very happy compared to a similar spec HDD with an old 2.5″ HDD in it, which feels far slower.
Western Digital are the best drive makers to my mind. So far have never even had a whiff of a fault with any of the WesDig drives I’ve bought EVER.
Using mine with a Gigabyte 990 mobo and it works a treat. Crytal Mark showing excellent read/write speeds way above the Samsung M2 Evo it replaced. Well happy !
I bought this to replace a much older Samsung OEM unit, with a max read speed of 1500. Since the mainboard is PCIe 3.2 then this was a good looking choice!
the result was not as expected, the New device operates at the speed of the old device, so either its not that fast or the original was a lot faster than advertised. either way, its in its working and i have more space
M.2 drives bring down boot times to a few seconds, noticeable improvement from standard SSD and almost magic compared to HDD! Wish I’d done it sooner! Also much smaller and doesn’t need cables!
Slight problem installing but that was due to my motherboard. Just needed a stand off screw to give a few mm extra clearance, otherwise it’s very simple to install.
Absolutely love the performance of this drive. I have it fitted in a PCIE adapter fitted within a dual-xeon server that has 144GB of RAM. The server is now10 years old, so pretty slow by today’s standards, yet this thing allows me to host online technical training for half a dozen guys, with each of them accessing several Virtual machines simultaneously.
I run up to 25 VMs simultaneously, with two thirds of them hosted on this
single drive. The machines run absolutely beautifully from this drive, with six guys performing major software installation and configuration on 12 Windows server VM’s simultaneously.
There is just no slowdown with this thing, it absolutely rocks! I can literally start 16 VMs Simultaneously (mix of server 2016/2019, and SUSE Linux) from this SSD, and they are all quick to boot, and really responsive thereafter!
I bought the PCIE BE version without heatsink, as my server only has. PCIE V3 bus, and I fitted a simple M.2 low-profile Aluminium finned heatsink myself, which instantly brought under-load temperatures down by 15 degrees. These heatsinks were about 8 for a pack of four from Amazon, complete with adhesive pads.
Bought to replace a normal 2.5″ ssd that I stole from the pc to put in a laptop, this item is way faster according to the specs and in benchmarks it is.
But in general use you will find it hard to tell a difference over a normal ssd.
If u have an old hdd then get 1 but if ubhave a ssd then maybe not worth upgrading.
I bought this NVMe M.2 drive to finally use the M.2 drive on my motherboard and to replace my aging 240GB SATA SSD (no 3D NAND). I use it as a Windows10 Boot drive and install all my programs on it!
It’s simple to set up and operate, and there’s no need to utilize WD’s software. The heatsink is great value if you have an older or cheaper motherboard without heatsink covers and looks stylish!
I got very close to the advertised read and write speeds using CrystalDiskMark, the write speed looks a bit lower than the advertised speed but that could be due to my old i7 6700K, Z170A motherboard/chipset or something else but I am more than happy with the speeds shown!
Works great. No issues and even from a sata SSD it increased boot times and load times for applications. Highly recommended (500gb)
I don’t recommend 250gb as after windows and normal program installs and a single game (70gb) I had 200gb remaining from 500gb so I highly recommend getting the 500gb as 250gb just won’t be enough unless you ONLY want windows installed and basic programs.
I will say this. I bought it, few hours later read about overheating and burninf stuff. Checked videos, researched and finally came to the classic conclusion. You will have bad luck in some things and good luck in others. I copied 600gb to it for 2 hours while playing world of warcraft in full specs and checked email and downloaded stuff to it,max temperature was 47 degrees celcious. I have it as 2nd M.2 in a Tuf A15 laptop. Very happy with the purchase. SN750 1Tb
And to the guys complaining about the screw….really? Complaining about buying the screw after a purchase like this? Do you try to sell the cardboard of the toiletpaper as well?
I’m on the fence with this one at the moment! Been having some minor issues on my newbuild pc and i’m starting to think this is the cause of those issues so i have dropped a star for that reason. First of all it’s fast that’s expected from an nvme drive but nowhere near as fast as advertised. Easy to install and instantly set up and the wd dashboard is a handy little software tool to monitor it. I’m not entirely sure if i would recommend it until i narrow down the problem on my pc but i have ruled out pretty much everything else and my boot times recently where slower than my old samsung ssd! I reinstalled windows and those seem to be far better so that may have been a software issue but if it starts to drop in speed again i may consider getting a crucial or samsung nvme and using this as a non OS backup drive. Loading software on the desktop is fine although windows explorer isn’t that fast however that could just be a windows bug. Overall it’s fine for the price but may be the cause of some minimal desktop stutter i’ve had recently.
I am very very impressed with this product. It was easy to install and I had a fresh Windows 10 Pro install up an running in under 10 minutes. My gaming machine boots up in about 7 seconds. I use a hybrid drive for storage and combined with this I’m actually getting more performance in my games. I can’t recommend it enough. The price is really good too.
I used this SSD for my new Gaming Rig I was building. It is easy to install if you have all the right tools required for the job, as my motherboard required additional pillar and a screw with PH1 screw driver bit in order to secure the ssd into the motherboard.
But the SSD drive is very good, boots my computer in no time, lasts about 5 seconds and I’m already on my desktop.
I recommend it for any board that supports an M.2 slot.
Just built an entry level rig with an i5 Rocket Lake, paired with an MSI Tomahawk wifi and 16gb ram. With this SSD I am able to load Windows in 8-10 seconds, amazing! It’s so fast, and silent and for the price you can’t be beaten. I’ve also bought an SN850 GEN4 as a benchmark, that doesn’t boot Windows any quicker but I’ll report game for game loading. Otherwise, the Gen3 is amazing, find the right price and go for it.
I have added this as a secondary drive in an Asus laptop used for gaming, work related and everyday tasks such as photo editing etc. Seems to work flawlessly, obviously it’s too early to vouch for reliability. Laptop is pretty much on 24/7 and only really goes off it not used for over a day or putting in bag to take somewhere, so is probably a good test for the drive. The drive has been absolutely fine. I found that when transferring around 400gb of files onto the drive the write speeds were very stable and does reach the quoted speeds, the machine is heavily used also. Lets come back to this in a year time and see how she performs. Based on the other SSD installed in the machine (Intel) no compatibility issues and Based on other SSD’s I’ve come across I can’t really fault it. Loading times on new games are rapid even on MS Flight Sim 2020.
Upgrade for old standard SSD. Very easy to install and was able to use software to clone my current SSD to this. Boot time is now around 6 seconds down from around 30 seconds of the old (if you boot from hard disk the difference will be unbelievable). Lovely quality and looks great in the case. Maybe when I’ve got some money I’ll upgrade to a bigger capacity.
I purchased this 1T SSD from Amazon with some concern intended to replace my 256 SSD of my Macbook Pro 2014. I used the adaptor https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08HPGZL8S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and followed the instructions written in this adaptor. With careful movements, you can replace the disk and install again your Mac Os from an external USB disk. The WD 1T SSD is fantastic, with no signs of rising temperatures in demanding use (I read this was the case in a previous model of WD). At an excellent price, I think this is the best solution for your Macbook Pro, a real bargain. Very pleased.
Bought this drive to replace my main Windows storage device, a Samsung 860 EVO SSD.
I have two more WD drives: a WD Blue for media and another WD, Black model, for games.
I could’ve gone with the Samsung NVME, but this one was slightly cheaper and it came with a heat sink.
Now I can view and manage all of my drives with a single app, which is a bonus.
I’ve not done any benchmarks, but the drive feels faster than an SSD.
Windows loads faster from a cold boot and apps in general are a bit snappier than when I was using my old SSD.
Very easy to install, no M2 screw provided though so make sure you either have one, they usually come in a bag with the motherboard.
Took all of 10 mins to install WD Acronis imaging software and clone my old SSD with no experience of the software and it is a straight clone in every respect.
The speeds are as advertised, the caveat being many of those Crystal Disk mark benches screencapped on Amazon are using different settings so if youre scratching your head wondering why they have XY and Z speeds this is most likely the reason.
Personally I see no difference between this and my old SSD, I dont notice the improvements enough to recommend it as a straight upgrade over SATA SSDs so its something to consider. The service from amazon was excellent.
Easy to install great nvme SSD as a boot drive. Got a 1tb one to store games and all my apps on it and they load A LOT quicker then a mechanical hard drive. Can’t really go back once you’ve used an SSD. Definitely want to get this over a normal 2.5″ sata SSD. Similar price with many more benefits such as high read and right speeds when doing multiple tasks like downloading 9 games and playing another one at once. Also no cable management so.
It’s fast NVME PCIe 3.0 storage, easy to install and initialize on Windows 10. Prices are currently good (100-120 for 1TB) for this type of storage due to PCIe 4.0 NVME drives being the latest and greatest but you pay for the privilege and the average user may not notice the difference in day to day use. With this drive on a PCIe 3.0 bus read speeds can reach upto 3500MB/s and write speeds upto 3000MB/s depending on work load and file types being read/written.
Very good quality ssd, the speed is very close to the specifications and it was easy to install. I tested it with an enclosure on a before installing it permanently as an upgrade for a MacBook pro retina early 2015 (A1502). It was very easy to format to apple’s format and I required an adaptor to plug it to the motherboard.
Most people recommend the samsung ssd for apple but I used this one as it was a bit cheaper but similar specs. I couldn’t be more satisfied and hopefully this review will help anyone trying to figure out how to upgrade their MacBook.
I got this to change the m.2 on my laptop, was super easy to change and attach and started working straight away. Installed windows on it and imediatly saw the difference in speeds on the system.
But unfortunally i had to return it. The problem was the place where the m.2 sits is right in the spot where my hand rests and because this m.2 ran a idle temps of around 50 degress after a while it was uncomfortable so i had to return it.
But that was the only reason. If you buy this to use on a case or if the location of the m.2 slot on yout laptop is different you will have no problem as this is an amazing product.
This is a good SSD with excellent speeds, and it’s proved to be reliable for me so far. The software seems to work well (despite the ads, though they don’t get in the way too much). Only buy this when it’s discounted, below 70. Otherwise you may as well go for a Samsung.
If you are setting up or building a new computer then this NVME should definitely be places in one of the M.2 slots. It is fast, reliable, doesn’t overheat, and functions flawlessly. It’s been months since I got it and it still provides a top notch performance.
This is one of the major factors that contribute to a smooth gaming experience. With high reading and writing speeds that are far cry higher than a conventional ssd, this M.2 is a must.
It is very affordable compared to other brands and WD is a brand to trust based on experience.
Not a bad price at time for 1TB SSD. Got a Nvme to pci adapter board and managed to get it to work perfectly fine on a 8 year old motherboard. To boot from it, did have to flash my ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard with a custom bios I created that’s available somewhere on the Internet with the latest nvme driver injected. Now getting those sweet 3.5Gbps read speeds. Only issue is that I’ve not actually noticed any change in performance in Windows or Games compared to a regular SSD, but hopefully I’m futureproofed for when Nvidia make use of the RTX IO technology.
This drive was easy to install and setup Windows on. Has been 100% reliable in the few months that I have been using it as have all WD drives that I have used in the past. If you look at the SSD comparison chart websites they show this drive not too far from the top on speed for M.2 drives but well below the top on price. It is not the cheapest 500Gb drive but in its speed category it is the cheapest. That makes it the best value 500Gb M.2 SSD I believe. 500Gb is enough for Windows and all the everyday software like Office and my CAD program which load super fast on this drive. Boot up from cold is also about 11 seconds with this drive. It was 25 with my old HDD. I got the one with the integrated heatsink because it was only a few pounds more but I think unless you game off of it or spend a lot of time editing big video files then the heatsink is not needed.
although a little expensive this item was well worth the money
i installed this and a samsung evo 960 NVME into the mini itx build i made for my brother and man o man did this mean NO CABLES were needed,if i had to add a normal SSD or HDD there would have just been a mess of cables to deal with
is this a fast drive with imperious read and write sppeds…you bet it is testing the speeds between transfers from this drive to the samsung it impressed me that i could fling a blue ray film from one to the other instantly litteraly in the blink of an eye,(or a mouse click),and vice versa, not only did it manage to transfer a single 3+gb title so quickly but i then tried it with multiple films consisting of about 15-20gb…have never seen storage swap between drives so quickly the green bar just zipped by in seconds
a word of advice though if you are transferring from a USB thumb drive the transfer will only go as fast as the thunb drive will allow…so an old USB 2 drive will still only transfer slowly….my point if you want faster thunb drive transfer speed…update your thumb drives as well
It is a great SSD in terms of memory storage and price, but unfortunately from all of the testings, I got nowhere near 3000mb/s. The average being between 1000 to 1300 MB/s writing and 1100 to 1400 MB/s reading on MacBook Pro 13″ Mid 2015 (16GB RAM). On many occasions, the fans were kicking in very often even when I was just browsing the web without having more than 3 or 4 tabs open.
When it comes to gaming, I don’t think there is much to talk about as it made just a slight difference to the performance at games from the Appstore which optimized for Mac, ex. World of Tanks Blitz on mid settings.
I’m not sure if I’m the only one who experienced this but if there are more people encountering the same issues, maybe BUYER, try to look for SAMSUNG SSD’s based on users’ feedback, it is more reliable.
The drive is very easy to install and is very fast, I only have a PCI 3 4x motherboard, but still managed to get nearly 3500 MB/s read speeds and 2600 MB/s in Crystal Disc Mark in normal mode. See screenshot.
My old SSD can only ever achieve around 550 MB/s at best.
Very happy – no issues what so ever, would recommend.
One minor thing there is no securing screw included, so had to dig out motherboard box and find one, but not really an issue.
The width was surprising and I was unable to install on my mobo slots but a while later I had the back plate off whilst the large heatsink still on top fitted nicely. Not installed any games on it yet but I cloned my old c drive with macrium reflect and the os feels a bit faster. The heatsinks feel quite warm to the touch so I’m guessing they take a bit of heat away. Good price
Very fast SSD. I bought this WD model it as I wasn’t happy with the performance of another brand of m.2 gen 3 SSD I bought from Amazon. As advertised it will give a maximum read and write of 3000mb/s+. On average you’re looking at around 2000mb/s read and 1700mb/s write. I have no idea how I lived without this beforehand; loading anything is nearly instant and games actually perform better in my opinion. If you’re thinking of buying one to replace a HDD or even slower SSD, just do it, it’s worth every penny.
My only complaint is it has only 931gb free. Which is disappointingly lower than 1000gb.
I got this at a much cheaper price of 124.99 to tidy up my PC build from a 128gb sata SSD and 2 500GB HDD’s and it’s great. Day to day i don’t notice the difference between this and my old SSD (sata not M.2) but that only had windows installed on it.
This is big enough for windows and all my games that i’m currently playing and i’m always the first one to boot into a level online. Transfer of files within the SSD are immediate and i’ll be looking to purchase another for additional storage later down the line
Picked this up when it was only 30 more than the SATA version. Easy to install and the heatsink looks amazing in a black build. However…
The performance you gain on a gaming loading screen with NVMe compared to an SATA is <1s. Save your money and get a larger SATA drive.
M.2 socket is great for making a tidy build. You can get SATA SSD with M.2 connections.
This is a great drive, with a very long lifespan and excellent speeds. I was initially choosing between this Black and the WD Blue SATA, but the difference in speed and in particular the difference in write cycles makes this a clearly better drive. The Samsung EVO is virtually identical in spec but more expensive, and so not worth the additional cost if you ask me.
I had a lot of issues transferring data from my old SATA drive to this — be careful which adapters you use, because BIOS won’t boot to half of them — but that’s not the fault of the drive. Windows suppliers just need to move on from BIOS…
Super fast. Make sure you have the tiny screws in your motherboard, and I do n’t mean the riser!
So in my MSI X470 GAMING PRO motherboard, the only things that wwere installed were the two risers, that look like screws, they look like all you would need, but take one out and look closely at it, it might have a little thread i nthe centre with no screw!
MAKE SURE you know this before you purchase as these do not come with any screws. Unit and paperwork ONLY.
I can suggest you search for m.2 screw or something on ebay or something. WHY DON’T THEY GIVE YOU THE SCREWS WITH THE DAMN BOARD.
Anyway, the performance is great, so 5 stars, ease to install is 4… well let me change that to 2. Because why. Give people the effing screws for the damn item. I blame MSI for this and other MOBO manufactuteres that don’t unclude them and I blame Western Digital as well.
Great item sitting by itself if you cut all of the installation part out. 5/5 for the item itself.
