I’ve used Wera and Wiha for years in a machine shop setting. Both are great brands. This is a fantastic little tool set. Nicely organized for you. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase!
I wanted this for a long time but delayed my purchase by several months because I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the money. Now that I have it, I can honestly recommend it to anyone who needs a good socket set. They did an excellent job with the design, the case is perfect and the tool feels great in my hand. Everything was made with exceptional quality and looks great! The short answer is that it was absolutely worth the money.
Great ratchet and socket set. Great quality and super versatile with the zyklop swivel head meaning awkward angles can be tackled.
Great kit featuring both 1/2 and 3/8 inch ratchets and a hex head handle for screwdriver use.
Heavy duty metal case and great lining ensuring tools are firmly secured when not in use.
Well worth the money.
i decided to do my own bicycle work after getting burned at a bike shop. wanted something that wasn’t park tool expensive, this seemed like an obvious choice and I’m glad I did. the tools just ooze quality and sturdiness. the swivel head has come in handy in tight spots. i have no complaints about this tool kit NOT ONE, well maybe one the price but well worth EVERY PENNY.
because of all the things I mentioned, my collection of tools from wera will grow after this purchase for sure. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good set of quality tools.
Don’t get me wrong I like this set and it is good quality tools, but.
Wera has another kit that is metric, I have it and was looking for an imperial one to match since I like it so much. Unfortunately I had to get this case and a travel pack that includes the rest of what this product is missing: 1/4 ratchet, packets ranging from 9/16 to 3/16, and some smaller bits than the ones this includes.
Not a huge deal, but you would think since they have everything metric in one case they could do the same for imperial.
I’ve tried to find one of these cases for imperial, I succeeded but the imperial one does not have the 1/4″ ratchet and smaller sockets like this metric one does. Very nice quality especially for the price as compared to snap-on and other brands.
Wera Tools are very well thought out in design and function. the kit is compact and very well organized. time will tell on durability but right out of the box all indications are they will hold up.
as far as the shipping agent goes: uberlegen was fantastic! seemed like the package was at my door step before the final keystroke on my computer!
thanks,
very happy custome
Thank you Amazon n seller for the Genuine products n hard to miss deals.
After owning over 10 sets of Ratchet n socket sets from various local n international brands. ( I am a marine Technician and make good use of my tools)
The Wera 8100 SC 9, 1/2 inch drive Speed Ratchet set in Imperial was something which was like a long awaited tool in my use n collection.
The German brand product is innovative and tough.
The kit contains a beautiful black coloured Nylon carry pouch with Speed Ratchet, long extension, small wobble adopter, small lockable bit holder for 6mm bits, mix torx, Allen , philips n Pozi bit set.
The ratchet head can be changed from 90 degree angle to additional 15degrees to 180 degrees angle for easy work n Flexibility.
The clockwise or anticlockwise rotation bevel is also easy to access in all angle position.
The push n realise for socket or extension is also smooth.
All sockets, adipters n bits fit well n lock in place.
This kit is a life time product investment if you are a technical person who uses socket set tool frequently.
Recommended for serious DIY person on they Mechanical side, Marine/workshop/ car/ Motorcycle Technicians.
The set is very expensive for an average indian. But it’s worth if you use ratchet tool regularly and want to save time on your work or have tricky working spots in your mechanical job.
I found this set to be great and useful. The ratchet pivoting head adjustment has made an otherwise tricky task, straight forward (particularly with interiors), and doubles up as a screwdriver. It’s a feature I regularly use. The ‘fine toothed’ mechanism has also helped in some tight spaces where there simply wasn’t enough room to ratchet with a standard mechanism.
The quick release connector, 8764 A1, is fantastic and allows quick changing of bits. Whilst the small sockets can be used the connector is the only thing that can keep screwdriver bits in place.
The black plastic sleeves on the extensions, and main ratchet, are free moving allowing them to be held whilst (un)screwing. Probably useful when using gloves that would otherwise grip and be more awkward to use.
The foam inside the case shows the part numbers of each major part which is helpful to replace pieces when lost or broken. In my case I have had to reorder a new connector (8764 A1) and small extension (8796 SA) for ~20 since I am unable to separate the pair. Seems the locking ball on the extension has just locked in place despite the green side button being depressed. No amount of increasing coercion has worked. An unexpected additional cost on already a premium purchase.
Generally the product feels of very good quality and well thought out. The advantages of the design, availability and ease of obtaining new or extra components outweigh the issue I have had so I wouldn’t be put off buying Wera again at the right price.
Wera tools are not cheap but still great value for money as ill never have to buy another set. Like all of their products it is of a very high quality and what i like about this set is how they have created an innovative design but the innovations are no nonsense and worthwhile….no gimmicks. The set is very heavy for its size which in itself is reassuring
I have been waiting for this for 2 yrs,my husband is a Gas Safe Registered Engineer and he needs this for his Gas Boiler works. The best tools you can ever buy is WERA also I had the opportunity to buy this for 43 per month for 5 months interest free which was perfect for me as we do not get involved with RIBA (interests)
Easy to use and excellent quality. it was a recommendation from my tradies.
Would have had 5 Stars, but one of the pieces had an extremely stiff ‘locking nipple’ that was impossible to push in with a finger. Eventually loosened it up by pushing it in a lot of times…..
Wera speed rachet is amazing – very clever tool that is quality piece – no play in the components, just nice tight fit with really good rachet return of just 5 degrees making it effective in limited spaces
Beautiful quality set of tools, and the angle adjustable ratchet head allows you to get to bolts in the tightest of places! One downfall is rubber locking mechanism for the case will probably wear down and loosen over time.
Wera makes fantastic tools. The tools are expensive, but in my opinion the fit, finish, functionality and obvious attention to detail make the price worthwhile.
You may have a negative opinion of swivel-head ratchets, but getting hands on this ratchet might sway you. There’s almost no play in the swivel mechanism, it feels remarkably solid. The handle is an odd shape for a ratchet, but when you’re using the ratchet like a screwdriver, Wera’s handle shape makes sense.
The finish on all of the metal components is very nice, it’s satin and feels durable. The sockets are knurled at the back, enabling you to get a decent amount of torque to turn fasteners with just your fingers. The case is top-notch, the two halves fit together tightly and the foam is tough, I expect it to stand up. The sockets are laser-marked, which makes identifying sizes much easier than those sockets that are just stamped/engraved. Small details like the free-spinning plastic sleeves on the extensions are the sort of thing I’ve come to expect and appreciate from Wera.
I don’t know if I’d recommend the Zyklops to everyone looking to purchase some sockets, you could definitely do the same jobs for quite a bit less money. For those who appreciate high-quality tools, though, owning a set like this can be worth more than just turning fasteners.
I purchased one of these sets and ended up buying five more of these Wera Zyplok sets in metric and SAE, 3/8, 1/4. A bit spendy but I got what I paid for. What I saved buying through Amazon took a bit of the bite out of the expense.
I have been looking for some time for a new socket set and whilst this is expensive I consider it to be well worth the money. It is beautifully made, stored in a well made container. I have not used in anger yet but tried out the various combinations of ratchets and sockets. It all seems very easy to use and very versatile. I particularly like the fact you can turn the handle to the vertical position to allow the initial tightening of the nut. The ratchet is easy to reverse using the knurled ring. The only handle that does not have a ratchet on is the screwdriver handle. Overall very impressed and would recommend without reservation.
I bought this for my home toolkit after spotting it mis-priced on Amazon having been drooling over it for a while. Unfortunately the price has since gone back up.
It is a beautifully made set and lives up to all the marketing promises of making work easier and faster. Just be a little bit careful with it when you’re learning to use it – if you find yourself needing to use force to remove a socket or change a position you probably need to press a button or slide something to release it!
If you think that this Wera Socket Wrench Set looks good in the online photos, it looks even better in person. It is indeed an extraordinarily good looking tool set, no doubt about it. Some people might say that it’s worth $100 or so just as a piece of art. It would be suitable if left unused in a display case, that’s for sure. But does it work? Not as well as expected, based on its high-tech looks.
First off, Wera has attempted to re-invent the wheel, so to speak, with their design of the wrench. The head of the wrench swivels front to back, & locks into 7 positions, one of which points straight away from the handle. In this position, Wera claims, the wrench may be used as a spinner handle. True enough. But how many spinner handles do you know that do not allow immediate socket changing? You see, once locked into the straight-ahead, “spinner” position, the socket release button becomes hidden by the shaft, & inaccessible to the user. To change sockets, you need to unlock the head from that position, twist the revolving head down a position or two, & then press the release button to be able to switch sockets. I don’t know of anybody who’d like to waste the time this causes in changing sockets. Spinner handles are usually of the “quick-change, pull-off” variety. So Wera has omitted a standard spinner & substituted this instead. The other related issue here, is that most good spinner handles have a good grip (rubberized or deep plastic grooves, or whatever), but the Wera handle has little rubber on it, no deep grooves, & is quite small, all of which limits its usefulness as a spinner handle. These issues do not interfere with its effectiveness as a wrench. That’s Big Problem #1.
Big Problem #2 is that the sockets are wobbly when attached, & I mean, very, very wobbly. I recently returned a cheap Klein Tools 65500 Socket Wrench Set, one of the reasons being wobbly attachments for some sockets (& too tight attachments for other sockets). The Wera is consistently wobbly for ALL sockets, & so wobbly that they make the Klein’s wobble insignificant by comparison. It just feels sloppy when that happens.
The quality of the pieces is good: beautiful finish, smooth, attractive. The size markings are clear, but could be darker to be more legible. Each socket has a ridged ring that allows hand tightening in the case of low-resistance nuts, a nice feature.
The wrench doesn’t use the common “switch” to change directions, it has a ridged plastic knob. That’s not as fast to use as a switch, & the Wera knob is too small to get a good grip on, & is a bit slippery even with the ridges. The metal socket release button (mentioned above) does not protrude (like most socket releases I’ve used). It’s flat against the plastic knob, & in the center of the knob. It also is difficult to use, because it’s too small for even the tip of my index finger to give it a good push. This issue would be solved if it were raised higher, like most other release buttons.
Using the included extensions creates extra (double) wobble above & beyond the wobble created by the sockets. The instruction manual is in 4 languages (English, German, French, & Spanish), & includes several color photos. It refers to “fast & secure connections”. The connections may be “secure” in the sense that they will not come off, but they are indeed “loose”. The “fast” connections are not as fast as a typical button release, & if you’re in the “spinner” position, the connections are much slower than with a typical spinner handle.
The case is another work of art, made of steel (according to Wera), that has a a smooth, hard, black coating, & green protruding pieces that are made of a rubber-like material, which prevents case slippage on smooth surfaces. The latches are of the same rubber-like material, & have a hole in each latch, that fits over a small projection of the black plastic. The inside of the case is custom molded to fit the pieces, & is made of a hard foam. The inside of the case cover has etchings (black on black) showing the components & sizes. It is difficult to see due to the lack of contrast.
The manual & case say “Wera, Germany”, but nowhere (manual, case, or tools) do I see an indication of where this item is made. I own separate, individual sockets by Wera, that also say “Germany” on them (the location of the Wera company), & also say “Made in Taiwan”.
For style & looks, this is a 5* item. For components quality & construction, this is 4*. For socket connections, 1*. Case: 5*. Add some points for originality & compactness (this item will certainly stand out among others in your tool arsenal), & my overall rating is 4*.
I will be using this as an extra, conveniently located set for jobs requiring little power & small sizes, & for that purpose, I recommend it.
I work in industrial maintenance and have tried most of the brands out there and nothing out there made the impression good enough to upgrade to their brand from what I was using. I have never thought too much about tools in cases except for storage but this design works out great just grab the case and go and you have everything there. One of my bigger gripes about ratchets and socket sets are when they fall off. With wera’s I’ll throw the ratchet in my back pocket with the extension and sockets on and run around craw and climb without out the worry of them falling apart. As for the ratchet that is something you really have to try. Let’s just say a few of my coworkers are adding this to their holiday list to upgrade from there snap-on.
