Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat can I say… I absolutely love this product. Its power, battery life and performance are all outstanding and I absolutely recommend them but please, purchase some anti impact gloves if you value your digits!

I had used these several times and on this particular day, whilst angry that the communal landscapers had butchered some of my plants and after a 5 day stint in hospital with my little one, I decided to try and tidy the mess they made. 3 times, in my head, I told myself to get my (regular) gardening gloves but I ignored these pre-warnings. Life then decided to teach me a lesson. Within minutes of starting, goodness knows what was going through my head, I needed to pick something off the ground whilst proceeding to cut the grass. My hands came together and in a split second, during the semi-severe of my pinky, I knew I had hit bone as the machine briefly paused (which happens if something large has been caught in the blades) then proceeded to continue. It was a dull pain so it was swift and sharp and I had gone through the top of my finger nail, flesh and bone. Calmly I walked inside until the shock and realisation of what I had done had hit me. Thankfully, I had reacted swiftly enough for it not to severe my pinky completely. I have to endure months of recovery and am now aware of safety gloves (and have many different varieties in my arsenal post trauma) for I have found an appreciation for my digits! Only downside is I cannot utilise the new safety gloves as my finger doesn’t fit inside of them due to the bandage.

    Phenomenal product, well done Worx!

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful enough to cut through bone!

Bought this to replace an ageing Wolf Garten equivalent. The Worx version cuts much better and the battery life is excellent thus far. Having the three attachment options is great for various light trimming jobs around the garden. Too early to tell how well it will last from a build quality point of view. Quite lightweight and easy to use. Recommended for older gardeners like me. Bear in mind, cost wise, that you need to buy the charger and battery separately (unless, like me, you already have other Worx tools with compatible battery) so price goes up somewhat.

i have other Worx products. they are good value and the battery is interchangeable.
i needed to trim back overhanging brambles and vegetation that was growing into my garden from next doors, this little device is perfect.

Great product should have got this years ago. Really easy to use.
Minor downside it really needs the cover guard to go over the greased mounting area of each blade. I have mine in zip lock bags to prevent grease on the inside of the tool bag.
Could also do with a dedicated tool bag from Worx. Their small bag is too small and the larger one for my reciprocating saw is too big.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersProduct was as expected and I have a number of other WORX products so it made sense to keep it in the family for battery purposes. I’ve found WORX stuff to be pretty sturdy (Not saying you can throw it about) and easy to use. This was easy to assemble and did the job to a reasonable standard. Lightweight and compact so felt comfortable letting my 15 year old have a go to help out in the garden without worrying about severed limbs (Apart from the bushes of course) I found the short weeding blade a really good feature for edging the lawn and getting weeds out from between the gaps in my patio slabs. The other two blades were all I needed, as I had a longer trimmer previously but just don’t have the foliage in my garden to warrant a 1m blade anymore. Only criticism, and why only 4 stars, would be power, I guess you’d get this with any battery powered device but I was underwhelmed when it came to tackling thicker brush when compared with my previous unit. All in all a good buy, not overly disappointed.

I bought this on a whim to trim inbetween plants and trees,

It cuts well and can be used for a long time on a 2.5 ah battery (well over an hr). So overall, quite pleased.

I love a gadget and especially a garden gadget. I had no real need for it as i already have a similar one but this one looked better so I bought it lol. Its fantastic for lighter work. I wouldnt use the hedge trimmer attachment on anything woody as it was getting stuck but that’s fine. Its much easier than my other one to change the attachments. Its a bit heavier but all in all, a great tool to have around. Makes light work of trimming.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWORX WG801E.9 Zen 18V 20V MAX Cordless Shrub Shear – (Tool only)

This sure does take the hard work out of trimming grass and shrubs, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a bit of grafting but when time isn’t plenty then this tool accomplishes these tasks in record time plus it’s good for my back.

I purchased the ‘Bare-Unit’ as I already have three Worx 20V batteries and two chargers so didn’t need anymore, so I’ve saved money straight away. I’ve owned a Worx pressure washer and hedge trimmer for years and they work without fail every time hence the reason I purchased this. Sure I can buy much cheaper on Amazon but it’s the quality I’m after and in my honest opinion I think Worx make top quality products and this tool is no exception.

    Packaging and delivery
This comes very well presented with no excess packaging, it’s more cardboard than anything.

    Package contents
    1 x Cordless Shrub shear
1 x 10cm grass shear blade already attached
    1 x 12cm shrub shear blade
    1 x 20cm shrub shear blade
    1 x User manual
    1 x 3 year warranty leaflet
N.B. All the attachments come with a hard plastic cover.

    Setup
Just connect your battery and you’re good to go as the grass shear blade is already attached, if you’ve purchased this with the battery and charger then you do need to fully charge the battery up to 100%, this will probably take a few hours as they come half charged, the green indicator light on the charger will flash green when charging then stay a solid green when done.

    Function and quality
This is a top quality cordless garden tool, well worth paying extra for because it will last a very long time and I’ve never had an issue with the batteries. What I like most about this tool is just how easy it is to change the blades, by pressing in two buttons, the base can be taken off and the blade simply removed with the new one going in just as easy.

A safety mechanism ensures the start button can’t be pressed accidentally as you need to also press the orange safety button at the same time, once the blade starts up then you can let go of this orange button and just keep the start button pressed.

This has made easy work of the edges on the lawn where my lawnmower can’t reach, it effortlessly trims the grass so quick, much quicker than using manual grass shears yet more detailed unlike strimmer’s. Trimming a hedge is also just as easy, very relaxing also and if you have back problems then this is certain to help, the weight of this tool is just under 1kg.

I think one point to note is that this doesn’t replace a full sized hedge trimmer, it’s great for touching up the hedge and cutting back but for the thicker branches then you’ll need a full sized version with more power. I actually have the Worx cordless hedge trimmer and that will use the same battery as this portable shear.

A fully charged battery will keep going for a while, put it this way, my pressure washer uses one of these batteries and will work constantly for about 25 minutes on full power, so you’ll probably get over half an hour from this easily. I do ensure I put my battery on charge after every use so that it’s ready for next time as they can take hours to charge up.

Always keep the blades fully oiled and remove any clippings as this will make them last a long time.

    Conclusion
Money well spent, one of my favourite cordless garden tools which is used most often.

    Highly recommended.

    Specifications
    Voltage – 20V
    RPM – 1150
Charging time – Up to 5hrs

    Packaging Recyclability
Mostly all the packaging is cardboard which can be recycled, the bubble wrap containing the attachments can be recycled in certain areas.

    Gifting
This is a very giftable item, I would have loved this given to me but unfortunately had to buy the thing, if the person you’re buying it for doesn’t have any Worx equipment then you will need to buy the unit with the battery pack.

    Alternative
You can of course buy much cheaper alternatives but they don’t last and the quality can be poor, something I’ve learned by experience.

I did some research. There are many similar products out there but considering the price and what you get for your money this seemed to be the one I needed. Very glad I did buy this. Initially I just wanted a grass shear but with all the additions I have a complete kit.I have tried all the attachments and happy with it all.

Not bad. Cuts pretty good. Warranty is fun to try and register. But, think I will go back to Makita for the next battery tool.

Already own the pressure washer in this make and like that. I have only used the Garden tools a couple of times and did manage to cut my finger in first use as it was all so quick and easy. Totally own fault and I have learnt to keep my left hand out of the way. These are versatile and very quick. Think they are a very useful addition to my gardening tools. Just watch your free hand!

Makes light work of trimming hedge. Able to cut through thicker stems, providing the correct action is used like a cutlas tapping action works a treat.
Got this to cut the grass between my garden paving. Works quickly and perfectly. Very happy with purchase. Saves lots of time in the garden.

Easy to use . I was lucky that I have other tools in this range so did not need to purchase batteries which are very expensive.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI already own over 30 different WORX tools that use the same battery pack. I have a box hedge which is about 50 m long and about 1m high and 500cm wide. We trim it at least once a year with my WORX hedge trimmer, but the hedge is now 20 years old so the middle is quite woody and defeats the trimmer, so I have a pair of electric cutter that I use to cut out the thicker stems of up to 25mm. Both tools cot me over 100 each, so I thought there might be an alternative..
So a combination of the two tools could work, and I saw this on offer as a bare tool, capable of trimming and cutting & shearing. If I did not have my existing trimmer and my hedge was say 10m long this might work, but it felt as if I was cutting a football pitch with a pair of scissors. I am sure I will find a use for them, but I am reverting to plan A and using my two proven tools.

Good sharp cutters but only for small hedges or shrubs. Cannot cut through anything thicker than 10mm.

Brilliant product as long as you accept its limitations It’s obviously not intended to cut back hedges but easily copes with thin and soft new growth on hawthorn conifers etc. Battery is life is very good
Very pleased with it Managed to get it on sale deal with a 10 voucher as well

This is an ideal tool for trimming hedges, edges and most shrubbery in between. It jams if the branch is too thick to allow you to release. It is for trimming even with the 3 different blades. Great battery life and easy to use (except you need to depress one button while squeezing the trigger and when you pause you have to repeat which is a little tricky).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt did a fine job in the specific instance I wanted it for: clearing 2ft tall grass around and in-between a 3ft tall hedge. That grass was dry, and stiff – so it stayed in place for cutting.
However, the trimmer was not good at cutting normal, soft green grass – as I found the grass just moves out of the way.
Battery life was OK: 30 minutes or so.

Great on dry grass - not so good on fresh grass

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI know about the quality of Worx tools because I’m getting quite a collection now, but I didn’t know what to expect with my new little shrub cutter.
    OMG its fantastic !
My wife and I took it in turns to tidy up the hedges etc and it was outstanding!!
    Light weight and well balanced.
I still had two bars on the battery.
Don’t think about it, buy it !

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI researched mini tools to cut/shape shear small hedging plants in the garden and after reading a mass of reviews this Worx cordless multi tool etc seemed ideal suited for our garden. Having purchased it does not disappoint. It arrive the next day and was so easy to set up and use. My wife immediately used it testing all attachments hailing its simplicity and ability to shape the mini hedges. I tested the grass cutter and was also impressed. The battery came half charged and still did all the trimming in the garden with charge to spare. Re charging is simple and fast and the battery is interchangeable with our other Worx tools and robotic mower. The blades cut well albeit I would suggest a large purpose hedge trimmer for our large border hedge. However, for all the small/medium shrubs it is ideal and therefore befits the title of “Best Tool in the gardening box” Have scored the battery life a 4X* as yet to be fully tested over along period.

Wish I’d bought one of these years ago , such amazing power and versatility. I have gone around the garden like a demon ! No odd bits of grass or daffodil stalks have escaped me! Even brilliant on thorny bush and cuts through the dreaded ivy . Extension handle comes Friday . Long battery life . I don’t normally review stuff but this us do good , 100 times better tgan the temperamental strimmers lol
