The covers on these things are really fragile. I need a replacement quickly and Amazon, as ever, stepped up to the mark delivering the replacement within 14 hours.
Purchased the alarm system and then purchased the remote separately. Really good to use just as you are getting out of your car, with a dog and shopping. Thanks.
Works quite a good distance from the actual alarm. 30 odd meters away including a few walls.
Got this to replace an existing sensor which had lasted 10 years. No problem to reinstall.
Does the job perfectly for an elderly neighbour with arthritis in her hands. Far easier to use than the alarm panel. Was simple to set up, in under a minute.
I bought this as a replacement because the one with my alarm fell to pieces when I tried to change the battery
Neede an extra fob , simple to add to the system
Easy to follow instructions. Now setting and unsetting the alarm is a lot easy.
After having my shed broken into 3 times by thieving filth, I decided enough was enough. My shed is at the rear of my property and the siren box it connects to on the front of the house (approx 30-40 metres away) I was worried about range, but it works perfectly. Relatively easy to add to an existing system.
Just hope it frightens off the scum of the earth that keep targeting my shed.
Excellent device, this keypad works really well and allows me easy operation of the alarm from a different location to the main keypad and is a much more positive use than the key fob which struggles to work from this remote position.
Really good value for money
I already have a fully functioning Yale 6400 alarm system, I just needed an extra sensor for a new outbuilding and this product fulfilled my need. Yale accessories are so easy to add and within 10 minutes this item was installed and functioning
Had to replace old unit due to accidental damage. The base station added this unit simply, so door was secured very quickly. A note to new users, ensure the end of the sensor with the screw head is sufficiently clear of wall/frames to enable ease of access to change the battery. And don’t drop the cover, (I did) as the anti tamper spring can launch the cover when undoing the clamp screw!
One star less because in my opinion is to big and only in white colour – become a bit dirty with the time, otherwise works as should.
The main panel is in my garage at the end of the garden. This unit means we can set and unset the alarm in full or partial mode from anywhere within range. Even if the case is screwed to the wall, say on an upstairs landing, the unit itself can be lifted out and put in any room. The unit is compact and easy to use. Great product.
This is a handy item and easy to use. However, its not as easy setting it up to pair with the alarm box, this is the only negative point I found
Super easy to pair. My original had snapped at the keyring eyelet. This version seems to have been revised as it’s thicker at that point. The buttons have a nice firmer action when pressing too.
Pairing was very easy. I was all set up in no time!
We originally purchased a new door contact point in November 2020 which when we attempted to fit it the control panel would not recognise it. After many attempts we found that although it appeared to be the same size and shape as the one bring replaced there are in fact two different types. The one we bought was for the EC-DC range and not for the HSA6010 system which we have. Therefore had to purchase the right door contact and install. Easy when you know how!!
My old door sensor broke. Changed the batteries, no good. Not working at all. Purchased a new one off Amazon. It arrived fine. Today having looked at the instructions connected it to the alarm and the door however the alarm was showing a tamper alert. The sensor worked fine but the tamper signal would not clear. I took the new one off and compared it with the old one and discovered the problem. On the tamper switch on the sensor there should b a small spring. It was missing from the new one. Thankfully I was able to get the spring carefully off the old one and fit it to the new one. I refitted the new one and bingo it works and the tamper alarm on the panel has cleared. So glad I kept the old one. Quality control where made slipped up I think. Keep an eye open for this issue. Overall It now works as it should. Great…….Be well all.
Very good product easy to install and a lot better looking than previous models I have around my house.
Does the job it’s supposed to and is easy to use. Only gave 4 stars as it’s a lot of money for a key fob when you can get the other type for Yale alarms for half the price.
Ideal addition of a second keypad which can be located anywhere. Great if you can access your house from either the front door or rear/side door as this will allow a keyboard to be located at each entry point, (I.e. if you include the main alarm panel), and thus prevents the need to trawl through the house – especially with wet muddy shoes on! – in order to turn off the alarm within a minute or so.
On the whole it is easy to install and setup, but does rely on the opening door or window being flush. A bit more packing might be needed for some installations, but works well.
A little sceptical after reading reviews that said the key fob didn’t have a very good range but this worked through 2 doors & walls from outside the building negating the loud countdown on entry if you’ set it hat way or if you’ve set it to sound alarm as soon as the sensor has tripped as I have it won’t sound the siren as soon as you have opened the door & it has the same arm/disarm options as the control box. Very pleased.
Due to having certain items in my house I fitted a Yale Home Security system several years ago, but the security system didn’t have the number of alarm points in it to provide all of the windows along with a couple of interior doors with one of its remote sensors. Over time I kept wanting to get hold of more sensors, but where I live is quite some way from the DIY stores where they could be bought, but on finally deciding to get more sensors I used the internet and bought some more, plus as my son in London also has a similar alarm fitted I am giving him some so he can fully protect his property when i shortly go to see him and his family.
They are handy to have if you have children and you are on that last minute to get out the door but you have to be inside and near the alarm box to turn it off with the fob so you might as well extend your arm further and turn it off by the box
Very easy to add to the existing Yale Alarm system, just be sure to make sure the surface is clean when you use the double sided tape to attach the sensor. A neat to test if you have the magnet cloise enough during the phase where you try and figure out where to put it given upvc doors and windows never line up, is to listen for a very slight click when you move the magnet away from the poistion you are testing. This is the reed switch flipping.
It took me about 10 minutes to install these on a regualr wooden doors, including connectng up to the alarm.
Arrived next day on Prime. Fitted and learned in within 2 minutes using holes from original PIR, annoyingly 1/4″ wider apart. Would be nice if the description said the device was compatible with my old HSA3500 system. Had to google to get the answer. But on the box when it arrives it says it is ! Like me a lot of people will be trying to replace older PIRs from the 3000 series wireless alarms and possibly are not buying this as a valid replacement because it does not tell you.
Bought to supplement an older Yale alarm kit. Does the job and links with the alarm. However the mounting options aren’t as versatile as the older sensor, with no ability to fit external relay/magnet pairs. I had to swap the position of this sensor with that of an old version to fit a deeply recessed double-glazed door. Made the job more fiddly than expected. I’d rather have the old square and functional design than this weirdly-shaped thing!
Good product that does work… but please don’t waste your time trying to change the code on the device itself. I used it with an HSA3500
Simply pair the keypad (Google how to do it, but it should say so in your main instructions) with your system and then operate as follows:
ARM – just press arm
DISARM – press disarm followed by your code on the main box
I spent ages trying to program my main alarm unit’s code to the keypad, but the problem had been a lack of understand of how this works.
This item works perfectly as long as its a campatible device as description is vague on acceptable devices. This didnt work on my property but as i have different system at different properties i was able to link it to another property. Also the picture in the advert isnt the same as you receive as the picture has coloured buttons but the one received was just black buttons.
Had a full wireless Yale telephone alert alarm for many years with 11 of these contacts and 8 Pirs around the home.- they really do go the distance.
Perhaps not matching the higher end finish/look of SSAIB wired systems on the PIRS, but seem no different to what the older ones did well, including time limited immobility alarming and panic button features and up to 3 telephone number alerting (only if required and then enabled)
One of these window/door contacts failed recently on a window and the main unit reported low battery on screen.
Normally they would just need the battery replaced.
Our Wifi router has never given any issues to the alarm or vice versa, occasionally during a thunderstorm (and rarely) some contacts have stopped signaling for a minute or so.
Pressing the button on them and seeing the led to illuminate soon makes them send a signal. This doesn’t seem to cause false tamper alerts or siren triggers/false intruder/immobility/tamper/panic dial-outs.
The system works on AM frequencies which I was originally thinking might be an interference nightmare, but the band seems good for low power devices and hardly anything else being in that spectrum is a plus.
This wireless reed switch had lasted almost 4 years and uses a large flat lithium motherboard type cell, changing it for a new one made no difference so we ordered the full wireless contact replacement above.
It was added to the system in 1 minute and came with handy templates, screws plugs or 3m backing adhesive cut out strips for non permanent areas, and of course pre fitted with a new lithium battery that is not on until you remove insulating plastic.
Can be mounted horizontally or vertically and the magnet will activate reed from either left or right sides.
Overall, a very easy on the bank balance maintenance budget, without wires, monthly contracts or “cloud” based face detection features and a low cost for any parts when they reach end of life.
Sometimes, local simple systems can be enough.
Everything for the system we have these switches for can still be sourced and replaced on an as needed basis, including smoke alarms/sirens – all with anti tamper features and battery level reporting, right down the range to these small contacts.
Be aware that if using the 3m sticky tape option that your anti tamper microswitch at the rear has to press firmly on the surface as if it moves away from it slightly it can trigger the alarm if anti-tamper is turned on at the base.
One attempt at break in 3 years ago was stopped by the sirens which probably paid for the alarm.
Recommended, even in 2016.
I’ll start by pointing out, I haven’t used this yet, so can’t comment on usability.
The item is a little larger than I was expecting. Around the size to fill your palm, maybe 4 inches in diameter.
The casing feels a little fragile, particularly the hinges at the bottom, which I suspect may break in time. The keypad itself feels pretty solid though. It comes complete with screws and plugs for fixing.
It is aesthetically pleasing, and I would say will be good for anyone who’s hoping to keep the main keypad hidden away, wanting something more discreet.
In addition:
Added this to my system today. Matches all I said above, still looks better than having the main panel on display! I can’t disagree with the comment re: installation. I have a recently bough H6400, and the installation was easy, in fact, step by step instructions were in the book for the main system.
Installation was straight forward enough, I’m in the process of renovating a new house, so I don’t have to worry about mess etc, however, I can honestly say there was none anyway.
I can’t recommend this product highly enough. I have heard that people have experienced false activations, when they’ve used the self adhesive pads that come with the system, so I’ve went with the plugs and screws, just to be safe!
I have hidden my alarm head unit in a locked cupboard so it would make life difficult for a would be thief to get to it and break it before the alarm kicks off, of course this meant every time I wanted to access the room I would need to leg it over to the cupboard find the right key and punch in the code before the alarm would kick off.
The key fob is easy to pair to the existing alarm and just makes life so much easier.
I walk in, the alarm starts making its warning pips, simply hold the Unlock button on the bottom of the alarm until you hear a double pip and the system is then disarmed.
Do the same again when you leave and there you have it.
Works well but pairing isn’t simple as they have failed to give pairing instructions just saying refer to alarm manual. That’s all well and good if you purchase a new alarm and have the manual handy but I had to rely on Google. After pairing though it works like a dream and the inner keypad cones out so you can take it to other locations not just the wall the holder is fixed to
My son fitted the whole system for me as he has one. Professional alarm engineers won’t touch the system for annual maintenance as they say it should be connected through the electricity system of a house. But it works if you want to switch it on when you leave your property and you can set it to ring you if it goes off. Not much use though if you’re miles away of course, but it’s a deterrent. This key fob is for putting by your bed for example so you can alarm your house before going to bed.
Can’t be too careful with your home security and these accessories connect onto an alarm so clever that it telephones you to say that there might be a burglar – but it might be the cat or the dog and nobody wants to hear that the dog has just gone upstairs when you’re supposed to be enjoying a romantic meal out.
These don’t detect pet size animals, though they have limits, if you own a silverback gorilla then it’s not that pet friendly however tabby cat, labrador size etc won’t cause an issue. Unless you live in an area with very small burglars.
I purchased two of these key fobs to go with the HSA 6400 Premium alarm. It was very easy to add them to the system using the ‘Add device’ feature in the PR menu. My only concern after purchase was in relation to a couple of reviews that mentioned you cannot turn off the alarm using the fob. You can, but you must ensure you do the following.
The system can be fully armed from inside/outside the house using the key fob. However, if you want to disarm the alarm, you must first activate the entry countdown by entering the premises via your set entry point. Once the entry countdown has commenced you can turn off the alarm by pushing the disarm button on the fob.
The home arm function can be switched on & off without any additional action from the fob. A great product at the best price I could find on the web
I bought this for two reasons, firstly when our alarm started counting down at 2am… bleary eyed I ran down stairs and in my half-awake state I was more focussed about typing in the code to turn off the alarm, than I was for checking there wasn’t someone in the house!
The other was a friend who came in while we were away to feed the rabbit, and confused the alarm console with the digital thermostat!
Now, if the alarm activates at night, I can control it from my bedside, and with the panic button function, it gives a bit more peace-of-mind while checking the house!
Also, it means that it is simpler for house-guests to use!
We had an old alarm system installed at our home over 20 yr’s ago, it had started to play up & go off randomly, understandably upsetting all the neighbourhood. We looked into a new system & to be frank…it was extortionate, needless to say, my husband looked into fitting a Yale system instead. So glad we did, He fitted it earlier in the year (2012) & we have been able to add the extra’s as we can aord it. The recent purchases are to install in the garage, so far everything we have installed has been totally reliable & so easy to install. The delivery from MAP Security has been really fast & efficient, i had one query so emailed them & within the hour they got back to me. So all i can say from our experience is fantastic product & fantastic delivery service. Thankyou
Only bought this sensor to replace an identical sensor that gave false alarms for no obvious reason. The previous sensor triggered the alarm 3x over a period of 3 years. After the second time I swapped it with another PIR sensor in a different room and the false alarm source changed room to follow the sensor. I concluded that there must have been something wrong with the sensor or maybe I have a neighbour with a sensor with the same radio code? Anyway, the replacement works fine and no false alarms so far. Apart from this minor issue I have had 2 Yale alarm systems with multiple PIR sensors and they have worked flawlessly. So I recommend this product.
Some mixed feelings about this key fob….Quite large to keep and carry about on my main key ring but we do.
Handy to keep by the bed as it says you can activate the intruder alarm from one button. (Not tried it in case the alarm annoys the neighbours during the test, but sure it will work).
The top button sets the alarm either when going out or when setting it for bed time.
The Unlocking button works perfectly (need to hold it down rather than keep pressing it) when we open the front door to come back into our house.
However, (Mixed feelings bit as well as the size!)I’ve tried to unlock the alarm using the same button in the mornings (without opening a door) and the main alarm pad doesn’t show that the alarm has been switched off….It beeps, but normally the alarm pad shows the words ‘alarm off’…..so I’m still turning the alarm off using the key code pad.
I may not be doing something right but now I’m in the routine, it’s not a problem.
The full price seemed expensive but after shopping around, I got my fob cheap from Amazon.
The add on bits to the main system has pushed the initial price up quite a lot but if it keeps our home safe, it’s worth it.
This is the third Yale wireless alarm system I have installed and have fitted this wireless keypad to each system. This allows the alarm to be armed/disarmed in Home mode from the first floor of the property, preventing the need for the occupier to walk downstairs to the main control panel. The alarm can be armed simply by pressing the Home alarm key, to disarm the alarm system you press the disarm key followed by the PIN code. The keypad can be removed from the cradle for convenience and has a panic facility for use even if the alarm is set or not. This keypad compliments a first class alarm system and would recommend it to any one thinking of purchasing i
I was pleasantly surprised when this keypad arrived; although the circular housing seems a little large at first (slightly smaller than a fully stretched hand) the keypad inside is neat and well designed. It integrates well with the Yale alarm system and all of the buttons match up clearly to the base unit – the advantage of using this keypad instead of that or in addition is that there is more freedom of placement and a smaller box to mount on the wall.
I should point out that the pairing process, unlike the rest of the Yale gear, is not altogether straightforward with this. For some reason, instead of just pressing a button combination once the base is in pairing mode, this requires a special code to be entered, followed by a sequence of buttons to work through some sort of menu. However, this is clearly explained in the manual. Presumably the inclusion of this menu indicates that there may be some extra functionality that is not documented, but I have not yet investigated this.
One gripe I do have, although it is not unique to this product, is that there is no easy indication of when the unit is well within or well outside range of the base station (and there is as yet no extender available). This, and the fact that the communication between this and the base is completely one-way means that, on occasion, I walk through the door to unlock the alarm, enter the code on this keypad, the light flashes, but the base does not respond (even on the keypad that is right next to the base – I now have two). Usually repeating the process unsets the alarm, but I would like to see some improvements in the reliability of this connection. However, this is a general issue with the entire system and its resolution would require a significant extra layer of complexity.
All in all however, this is a great product – well built and behaves exactly as you would expect and want.
