UPDATE: This is a fantastic company. Yes, my saw did die, but from just this review, they contacted me and I now have a brand new saw. They replaced it and since they no longer make the 4″ blade one, they sent me one with a 6″ blade.
It spit smoke and died after sawing half way through a 1-1/2″ small branch. I had used it on one other little branch. Piece of junk.
Great little piece of garden wizardry! Albeit the only down side is that like anything you buy with screwed in attachments involved, the screws are generally cheap quality and lose their head or thread quite quickly. Bare this in mind when attaching the guard as once it’s on there, chances are it won’t be coming off. Next dilemma is that it doesn’t fit back in the box with the guard and handle attached.
Other than that a great investment for cutting up fire wood ready for the winte
Delivered sooner than expected. Seems well made. Instructions came in English. Both batteries have been fully charged ready for a proper test tomorrow. Amazing value for money for the kit you get with it.
My only complaint would be the maintenance oil included was a sealed empty container
Other than that very happy.
Will add more to this review after I’ve tested it tomorrow
Bought this to help trim a couple of trees in the garden, you get two batteries, a charger, the saw with a spare cutting chain, and a pair of gloves.
Quality is reasonable for the price, and the saw seems quite robust.
Both batteries charged up ok and so off into the garden to try it out.
It does make short work of cutting through branches, it went through branches up to 4″ like a hot knife through butter, which made the whole job very easy, also great for chopping up the tangle of branches I cut off.
Very light in the hand, and comfortable to hold.
Remember to oil occasionally, there is a small bottle provided but mine was just an empty bottle, so I filled it with proper chainsaw oil (which I already had) and put a few drops on the blade between cuts.
How long the batteries will last I don’t know, I did some heavy pruning for about an hour and the battery was still going strong, and I had the other ready but didn’t need it.
I think for the price it is well worth it, it would have easily cost me more than the cost of the saw to get someone in to do the job, so I’m happy.
Edit….Great customer service. Must have read my original review and reached out. Replacement unit sent, thankyou. Original review-“Really nice to handle saw. On it first use smoke started coming out from the motor. Now when i go to use it, after a few small cuts the thermal overload kicks in and have to wait ages to use it again. Its a shame because its a very nice tool. Not expecting it to last many more cuts before completely stopping working”
Good piece of kit but a battery pack failed after 3 months
Love the chain saw it comes with two batteries would love to purchase more as it’s so much fun using i
Used to cut down a large multi-stem hazel tree, made light work of stems of around 6 inches thick. Battery life could be longer but no problem if you keep both batteries charged up. My only other very minor gripe is that the oil bottle supplied was empty, but still worth 5 stars.
I have only used it once for about 3 hours but it performed extremely well to trim trees with boughs up to 6/8 inches. However, I found the manual to be very poor with very small photographs (drawings would have been much better). It took me longer to assemble correctly than the time I used it. However, as with all things, once you know what you are doing, it is fairly simple.
I honestly cannot believe how good this is, I’ve now used it a few times primarily to cut decent sized losing for my log burner. It tackles 6″ logs with ease, I have to say I didn’t expect it to be as competent as it is….i would very much recommend. Battery life is ok, it appears to run for around 10 minutes and then you’ll need to switch to the back up battery, including 2 in the set is superb. Do not hesitate, this is an amazing wee saw, I wish I’d bought one ages ago! 10/10
I’ve got 300 meters of hedge and use a hedge cutter and a chainsaw to keep it in order. Bought this to do the branches that are too much for the hedge cutter. This mini chainsaw is fantastic. So easy to use and lightweight with it. Battery gives about 30 mins cutting time and having 2 batteries means no waiting to charge as they charge in about 1 hour. Cuts small logs fit the fire as well.
Excellent customer service from Seesii. Good little tool for cutting small logs etc. Need to keep checking chain tension but very easy to adjust.
I have a lot of trees and shrubs to maintain and advancing years mean I neede help ! This fits the bill exactly, why have I never thought of it before ?
Arrived on time but contained a manual in Italian not English, after posting question on Amazon was able to contact seller ( SeeSii UK ) who provided a PDF file of the correct manual.
After reading the manual i was able to safely check and use the tool, it performed well and completed the task, easily removing branches from 4 trees.
After use was cleaned and both batteries recharged without any problem, chain was still sharp and did not require re tensioning.
Overall worked as stated and did the job, worth the money a lot cheaper than a tree surgeon.
The Seesii 6 inch Mini chainsaw arrived promptly and on unboxing appeared to be a great piece of kit. This proved to be the case when I tackled a large conifer tree, slicing through 6 inch branches like butter. As the batteries were already charged, I could get on with the job straight away. I managed to complete a lot of the work using one battery but when switching over to the second battery, there was a problem. It was dead. I connected the battery to the supplied charger but it indicated that it was already charged with a green light. I contacted Seesii straight away and they have arranged to send a replacement battery, no questions asked.
In my opinion, this is a quality chainsaw with everything you need in the sturdy carry box and Seesii is a first rate seller, very quick to respond if anything goes wrong.
Used to trim branches , but it stopped working after one day . I was pleased with the cutting performance and ease of use . Total cutting time was only about three hours. I let it sit between cuts because some of the reviews mentioned an overheating issue. No idea what the problem is ,I know it definitely didn’t overheat. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be would be appreciated.
Update: contacted the seller, they were very understanding and supportive, they are sending a replacement.
Due to the exceptional service I have upgraded to five stars. It is a great little saw , and I look forward to using the replacement. Thank you Seesii for all your help
Second update
Oct 14,2022 The replacement saw arrived today (just as Seesii promised) looking forward to getting outside on these beautiful fall days that we are having and using my saw to clean up around my garden. I will update after I use the saw for awhile, but I feel confident that it will work fine.
Final update:Nov12,2022
I have used the saw and finished all the yard work that I had planned for the fall. It performed even better than I expected, no problem cutting branches and small trees. I love this saw, it makes tree pruning so easy. Thank you Seesii.
It takes a bit of getting used to. It can easily overheat and so stops for a few minutes to cool down. I realised I was forcing it too much and if you just move it lightly and let it do the work then it works fine. It prefers to cut fresh wet wood rather than dry wood, but will still do the job. The chain tensioner is not tool free, you still have to use a tool to tighten it.
It comes in substantial black case, already assembled. All you need to do is charge the two batteries.
It comes with 2 chains one of which is already fitted on the saw. You also get a pair of gloves one pair of safety glasses and box spanner.
I charged the batteries, which took a couple of hours. Checked the chain tension which was OK and set to work cutting a couple of branches off a tree.
I have never used a chain saw before but found it easy and straight forward. So yes very pleased and I would recommend this mini chainsaw
This saw paid for itself the first time I used it as far as I’m concerned. It take stress off the back and body from having to wield a full sized chainsaw for de-limbing fallen trees.
We had a bad winter storm with super heavy snow and wind that took down a LOT of trees and branches. There was and still is a tremendous amount of cleanup. This saw allows you to more easily cut away the tree canopies/branches before sawing up the tree trunks and larger branches.
Battery life is reasonable but I found a weakness. This saw likes to jump or bounce when freestyle cutting branches. I didn’t think anything about it other that is was a bit annoying, until one day I realized it was not cutting all the way through, say, a 2″ branch. The chain was still sharp, so that wasn’t the problem. Upon further inspection, I realized that the chain bar groove was a little bit “mushroomed” or damaged, so after the chain got through the wood, the bar was now wider than the chain preventing the bar from easily passing through along with the cut.
I realized I could flip the bar, putting the damaged edge up. But I was also able to skillfully hammer/tap (I’m pretty good with tools, and an old metal guy, so I have the instinct for this) the edge back in to shape and file it clean. So, all that “bouncing” actually showed how weak the metal chain bar groove. I know to avoid that bouncing as much as possible now.
SeeSii customer service was responsive and led me to where I could buy a new bar (only with a new chain too), which is good. More than 25% the cost of the entire tool that came with 2 batteries and two chains, but at least its available so the whole tool doesn’t become useless at some point. This tool is a good trial tool, to tell me when it fails, to invest in a professional quality version. The concept itself is so useful.
I saw reviews from people complaining it’s not for left handed people. I’m right handed, but one of the things I like about this tool is I can easily operate it ambidextrously. In fact, holding it with the left hand makes it a natural position to hold the safety button…actually defeating the purpose of the safety button, which is fine by me. I would rather not have the safety button anyway.
I heat my home with wood, so I am very experienced with using a full-sized gas chain saw. With that said, I have found this mini, 4″ chain saw to be an incredible tool for trimming small tree limbs and brush around my multi acre homestead. Two things convinced me to buy this particular saw. Number 1: I watched a You Tube video from a man using this saw. I was impressed with the amount of limbs and saplings he cut on a single battery charge. I was also impressed with how quickly the saw cut its way through the limbs up to about 3 inches in diameter. Number 2: The saw will accept a Makita battery or a generic brand made for Makita. I did not want a unique battery that might not be available in the future. The accessories that came with the saw (hard case, extra battery, tool kit with chain files) have also been great to have. Initially, and after making 4-5 cuts, I put a few drops of chain saw bar oil on the chain and bar. I keep the chain tensioned properly, and this little saw just keeps going and going until just a moment before the battery finally dies. Then, I just pop in the spare battery and continue cutting. I no longer have to use limb loppers or a folding limb saw to do my yard maintenance. I did purchase an extra guide bar and chain, for about $9. I can keep the chain sharp using the included 3 mm round file. I wish I would have had this tool years ago.
Purchased the saw to trim fruit tree suckers and found it to work as expected. I ran it for 4 hours and went through both batteries. As many have noted, the chain is not very sharp and shreds the branches in many cases when not pressing hard on the branch. I have not had time to run a file across the chain to put a new edge on it, need to find the right size file. I did need to tighten the chain several times but that is not difficult with the tools provided. I am watching this closely, at the end of my last battery I studied the bar and noticed that the edge of the bar where the chain rides is flaring and will require some file work to clean the edge. Not sure how long the bar will last, this is a consequence of no oil, but this will require maintenance and eventually a new bar if this wear continues. I have not seen any replacement bars for sale but have not looked either. Like I noted for the price it is good for what I need, normally it will only run for 4 hours in the spring and then only periodically for trimming during the season.
