Baby went into its own room. Can soundly sleep without getting up to check on breathing every 10 minutes

This does what it is supposed to. I just have the movement monitor. We have a cot bed and when the monitor was not in the middle of the mattress it did go off a couple of times when she was right up the other end but it does work well overall. It has beeped a couple of times to wake her but I think that is because she is so tiny. I am happy with it and very glad I got it. I can sleep without checking on her so often.

Waking up and worried is your child still breathing? This was the best thing we bought slept great knowing it was detecting my baby while we slept. It goes off of we forget to pause but shows it works and happy with this product.

Loving it, gives us great peace of mind. Easy to set up, does not make any noise switching on/off/pausing it. Works both in his snzpod and in his moses. Highly recommended well worth the money.

I trust angel care I bought this for when my grandson stays over it is so easy to use and I can go to sleep and not worry if anything happens I would know in seconds the alarm is loud the technology has come a long way since I bought my first angel care

It’s great has definitely put our minds at ease, yes we’ve had a few false alarms from either moving too far off the mat or from our little one going into a deep sleep, but I’d rather the false alarms so I know it’s working as it should!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is not a camera. It is a plate, a bit like a set of scales, which has two parts. The top can wiggle on the send part. This means it can detect movements. It has different sensitivity settings to detect very subtle movements. The alarm goes off if baby stops breathing. You put it under the mattress. So far, the alarm has never gone off while my boy has been lying on it. And he sleeps very soundly. (I sometimes have to watch him for a number of seconds to see he’s breathing). I feel much safer knowing it is keeping track of his breathing, and I sleep so much better knowing it’s there. I only have two niggles really. 1. When you turn it on, after a few seconds, an alarm sounds a single, loud beep. I have to sit on the remote or turn it on in another room to muffle the sound, as it usually startled the boy. 2. The button to turn it on and off is flush, small, on the side and awkward to find in the dark. That means a lot of fumbling about while the alarm is going off, because you forgot to turn it off before lifting him out of the crib to feed. Not great at 4am when he’s crying to be fed.

These sorts of monitoring products are numerous now and come in many different guises. This particular Angelcare product is easy to install and monitors the ‘micro’ movements of baby. If there is a 20 second pause, the alarm goes off. I haven’t experienced any issues with false alarms but the system does appear to work – thankfully, I have never had to experience the awful sensation of the alarm going off but it does give me some comfort knowing it is there. I have to say, I have other children who didn’t have this system available but nevertheless, the sort of medical issues that can occur and cause these terrible incidents happening exist – and this system does give that additional sense of security. For that, it is something I would recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis movement monitor is primarily used for detecting micro-movement from breathing, if the sensors detect a lack of movement, this could mean that the baby has stopped breathing and it will sound an alarm after about 20 seconds.

This is very useful as even when in the same room, you may not know if your child is having difficulties breathing, as the sensors detect the smallest of movements from breathing, it’s like having an extra eye to keep watch. It’s especially reassuring to have during the night.

This system can be added to your existing monitoring system, even if it is a different brand.

You place the sensor (which comes inside a plastic pad) under the mattress. It will then sense movements and alert you based on your sensitivity settings.

I think the main benefit of this product for me, is the added reassurance. When I’m in a different room I know that something is watching, I can let my guard down a little. I know it’s not a complete solution and there never is as there are a lot of dangerous conditions such as sudden infant death syndrome.

Overall 5/5 due to the compatibility with different systems (which is a rarity as you’d think that they would force you to buy their whole range as with other brands) and because I found no faults.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe started to transition our 5 month old into her own room in the last couple of weeks and I got this monitor to help offset some of my anxieties of not being in the room with her at night.

Overall it’s been easy to set up, happy that it can be fitted directly onto slatted boards as long as they are level, so we didn’t need to add a flat board underneath. Pairing between the nursery unit and the sensor pad was straightforward and so far so good. You do have to remember to pause the nursery unit if you wake in the middle of the night to feed baby though and then remember to turn it back on again after which can be a pain.

There are a couple of things I hadn’t been aware of until I read the small print in the owners manual which take away from my peace of mind that the monitor is working effectively. It states that it works alongside any type of monitor, but we use the Motorola Hubble monitor through our mobile phones and the manual states that mobile phones should not be used in the same room as the monitor as they may interfere with signal and performance. It’s also fairly unrealistic that people would go to bed without their phones in the same room so I would see this being a potential problem for most parents using this.

You also need to ensure that baby’s environment is free from all vibrations and movement for it to work effectively; this includes loud music, fans, floor boards, central heating. My daughter sleeps with white noise on and I worry this is impacting the monitors effectiveness too. You can adjust the sensitivity setting to offset this but I do wonder….

Overall this has definitely helped me feel more comfortable with transitioning my daughter into her own room but just not as much as I had hoped.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersLet’s be clear, this is not an essential baby monitoring item. The minimum baby monitoring equipment required in my view is sound and temperature. Things like video and movement are a bonus. But because the technology exists now, the bar for baby monitoring is going ever upwards.

Why consider a baby movement monitor then? Well, it seems to be aimed at new parents worried about cot death, or sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). This monitor will detect if there is no movement in the cot (i.e. baby has stopped breathing) and sound an alarm after 20 seconds or more. It is surprisingly effective, not going off with a heavy sleeper but sounding shortly after they are taken out of the cot. So definitely fit for purpose.

If you are worried about SIDS though, the NHS website has a list of DOs and DON’Ts that will likely reduce the risk far more than this monitor can. They are copied direct from the NHS website below:

“Below is a list of things you can do to help prevent SIDS.

    Do:

    – always place your baby on their back to sleep
    – place your baby in the “feet to foot” position — with their feet touching the end of the cot, Moses basket, or pram
    – keep your baby’s head uncovered — their blanket should be tucked in no higher than their shoulders
    – let your baby sleep in a cot or Moses basket in the same room as you for the first 6 months
    – use a mattress that’s firm, flat, waterproof and in good condition
    – breastfeed your baby, if you can — see benefits of breastfeeding for more information

    Do not:

    – smoke during pregnancy or let anyone smoke in the same room as your baby — both before and after birth
    – sleep on a bed, sofa or armchair with your baby
    – share a bed with your baby if you or your partner smoke or take drugs, or if you’ve been drinking alcohol
    – let your baby get too hot or too cold — a room temperature of 16C to 20C, with light bedding or a lightweight baby sleeping bag, will provide a comfortable sleeping environment for your baby”

I got this for when I am looking after a newborn for my friend. It is a very handy device and picks up movements very effectively, I can see when he is still for long periods and check on him if necessary. This obviously doesn’t replace the caregiver and natural common sense but it does offer peace of mind for the carer. It flicks on when he moves and is wonderful picture quality. I haven’t used it overnight much as it hasn’t been necessary yet but I will update accordingly when I have. Excellent piece of equipment for the most precious amongst us.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOur 8 month old is having a condition that makes his heart go a lot faster as it should as times which I think has made us a lot more paranoid. We don’t have a baby monitor with a camera but an owlet and basic baby monitor. I thought this baby monitor would be a great addition but also great to have at the grandparents house so we don’t have to bring all our baby monitors over whenever he has a sleep over there.
The baby monitor works with a small pad that you lay underneath your babies mattress and it detects micro movements like breathing and if no movement is detected for 20 seconds it will alarm you. No baby monitor can prevent cot death but if something should go wrong you will get alarmed and therefor you check on baby to put all necessary steps in place to ensure baby has the best chance of survival.
The monitor is easy to set up and batteries are included. All in one it’s a good addition to any baby monitor you already have but can also be your stand alone baby monitor.

I would have liked the option to have a mains power adapter for the product as I prefer those to battery operated gadgets. Therefor I’m not going to use this product on a regular basis but leave it at the grandparents house.

Knowing about SIDS, and thing of that sort I feel safer after got this monitor. Got some false readings but overall it did what it was supposed to do. The sound was very loud.
    – The alarm will sound if there is no movement after 20 seconds
    – Non-contact monitoring
    – Add to any brand or type of baby monitor
    – Battery included

Have given this to my son for their newborn and the report back after a few days was good.
Very easy to install and set up within moments, accurate and sensitive but not over sensitive. Very clear and audible alarm which is almost impossible to miss.
Asked if he was going to continue to use the reply was. ‘Yes definitely as it gives me a peace of mind that i didn’t have before and this makes me far more relaxed, this with our baby monitor means we rest better’.

I really love tech that enhances lives and this seems to do that, highly recommended!

Many years ago with my very first baby (I have had 6 altogether) I bought a similar product to this, as he was my first baby I was super scared of sids and he’s started holding his breath whilst awake so I was advised to buy one of these, anyway it was The worst product I’ve ever bought it was bulky and massive, not very sensitive, the alarm would go off for no reason at all and The thing sent me into anxiety, in the end The health visitor advised me to get rid of it and I ended up cosleeping, Anyway I’m very happy to say this product is not like that at all technology has certainly improved tenfold The supplied instructions are excellent, clear and make the set up easy. The movement sensor fits under the cot mattress and is 16 cm by 16 cm square it is flat and doesn’t affect the babies sleep. One of my favourite features is that the sensor can be used with any baby monitor it does not have to be the Angelcare one, which of course makes the set up slightly more cost effective. The sensor picks up micro movement of the baby (such as breathing) and so alerts the monitor is no movement after 20 seconds so giving parents etc peace of mind. Read all instructions thoroughly and make sure as you should anyway that the for is clear and no mobile/moving toys on the for it next to the for which may interfere with results.

Good quality item. Set up in minutes just make sure there isn’t any toys in cot that move so as to mask what baby is doing. Not cheap but worth it.

This is a brilliant very simple to set up system to monitor micro movements (and beyond) whilst your little one is at rest. Adding movement monitoring to your existing baby monitoring with this is easy (whether you own an Angelcare monitor or any other brand – this add-on is not specific to Angelcare only and so is very versatile). The wireless sensor pad just goes under baby’s mattress and will then constantly monitor movements while baby sleeps and if there is no movement after 20 seconds it will alert you. Obviously this is sensitive enough to be measuring micro movements associated with baby’s breathing, not just your little one writhing etc – if you’re blessed enough to have a very settled and still sleeper you’d be concerned the alarm would go off every minute, but it wont – this is monitoring movements right down to your little ones chest movements. In essence, it’s designed to alert you if it thinks your baby has stopped breathing. Either way you can adjust the sensitivity accordingly based on your set up and little one so there’s no worry as to whether this will be sensitive enough for you or not.

This is a great addition to whatever current set-up you have and will certainly help relieve some of the anxiety/stress of the early months where you have to fight the urge to constantly check on baby when sleeping every minute or so. Will it remove it completely? If you’re anything like me, no – absolutely not! But it will help. Comes with good instructions, batteries and everything you need to get going. It’s impossible to put a value on such things when it comes to protecting your little one, but this price on Amazon is right on point with average prices for such items and so it’s great value too.

When our children were little (decades ago) we used to worry about them all the time when they were sleeping, even creeping silently up to the cot or crib to check that they were breathing. This monitor takes all the worry away.

With the latest technology, this simple machine can tell you if your baby has not moved in 20 seconds; I don’t mean just physically move their arms or legs, it checks movement of the diaphragm to ensure they’re breathing. It is that sensitive. It sits underneath the cot/crib mattress, so any slight movement from your baby can be detected. The monitoring level is adjustable ,so if your little one is a fidgeter you can dial it to a less sensitive point so you don’t ever need to worry again. You will need to do this carefully to make sure that it is at the right level for you, as if the settings are too sensitive it will have you running to the nursery every couple of minutes.

The actual pad is not that big – 16 cm x 16 cm – but it is very sensitive to bodily movements. You get a nursery unit and a stand as well for it, and when the alarm goes off you can hear it over your baby monitor.

A battery included, and the machine is easy to set up, so you will be able to use it straight away. The setup instructions are excellent and cover all you need to know.

Not cheap, but it works, and will give anxious parents peace of mind.

NB the reason I’ve given only a one star rating for the touch screen is that there isn’t one.

These movement monitors have come out to prevent SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). Although there is no evidence that these can prevent it, lack of movement in a cot is unusual for a baby and so the alarm will sound to alert you if that is the case. These are very sensitive and so you shouldn’t have any moving accessories on the cot and in a separate room. Ensure you carry out the tests to level the right sensitivity for your cot to prevent it triggering too much or too little. Will update when we see how this pans out.
