Relatively easy to install under the wooden eaves of the house. Ran the (very) long cables through the loft and down to the DVR unit at my desk upstairs.
Setting up the unit itself is also fairly straight forward, just follow the instructions in the manual.
Connecting the unit to the router via an ethernet cable isn’t necessary for the cameras to work but using the free app to remotely view live footage anywhere on your phone is very useful. Plus you’ll get notification alerts on your phone if you’ve setup motion or intrusion detection.
Good quality video output and the quality of the night vision is as good as the product images. You can also set up privacy masks (as seen by the blacked out areas in my screenshots) to hide anything you don’t want to record (a neighbours property for example).
Overall great quality for the price, lots of features without subscription.
here is no way to reset the password unless you have ethernet, even then it wont accept it… utterly rubbish
Had these cameras a few months now. Good picture quality, can be very sensitive, not the best if you have lots of cats nearby. But nevertheless really good quality and would recommend.
Only negative is I wish it had sound
Had this unit up and running for a while decided to purchase a hard drive and we can now capture/record everythingBought a booster plug which supported an ethnic cable And now I have a fully functioning cctv system I’m that impressed by the clear picture I’ve purchased extra cameras and also downloaded the app onto my mobile so I can keep an eye on things when I’m awayI’m not very tech savvy but everything I did on my own via instructions very straight forward to fix up
Even though it was entry level, I only needed 2 maybe 3 cameras now but probably later up to 5/6. System works wells even with foreign camera fitted. Own cameras are better than others of same price , which surprised me. Very pleased with purchase
I tryd and tryd to get the QR code to us this on my mobile no way could I find it even on chat with the company. Well let me tell u the QR code is a password you make up 7 to 12 letters the it worked so rediculas y not just say make a password instead messing u around apart from that very good system
It has 24×7 recording and because of it, I was able to capture a mischievous kid throwing stones and was able to find her parents. It’s very easy to set up, I installed it myself, and also easy to use. The only downside is that the motion notifications are not smart, I also get notifications for birds. The mobile app is very easy to set up and shows me videos and notifications no matter where I am. I am very pleased with the purchase, it’s excellent for its price. I was very tempted to purchase other camera systems like a Ring floodlight, but I am glad I bought this because as a Ring doorbell user, I know it only captures partial videos and that wouldn’t have been enough for me to find the mischievous kid.
This DVR has a very good user interface and is easy to set up and use. The seller have provided excellent customer service to deal with my requirements. However I brought this with the intention of upgrading my existing DVR system however this system isn’t compatible with my existing AHD 5MP cameras, the seller did try and resolve this for me however there was no way of making them compatible. The system however does work well with the Annke cameras supplied with the kit. I decided to return the kit as I didn’t want the hassle of replacing my existing cameras, the return process was quick and easy.
Got this to keep an eye on my front door and driveway, cameras are brilliant. Already had a hard drive and was really easy to set up. You can record continuously or set software triggers for it to record if certain things happen. Cannot rate this high enough.
Even caught the moment my ridge tiles hit the roof of my classic Mercedes in the storm.
According to the ANNKE product description, the 8 Channel 5MP Super HD Hybrid 5-in-1 CCTV Digital Video Recorder DW81KD-V3 has the following facilities.
I however, have the updated DW81KD-V4 model, which supports 4 IP cameras, whereas the v3 model only supports 2 IP cameras.
(From the ANNKEE Website it is a described as a) Powerful Hybrid 5-in-1 DVR (DW81KD-v3 model)
The 8 channel hybrid digital video recorder works with up to 8 pieces of TVI (max. 5MP), AHD & CVI (max. 4MP), CVBS and 2 pieces IP cameras (max. 6MP) for your future expansion.
The v4 model however supports a maximum of 8 Analogue plus 4 IP Cameras, a total of 12 cameras. All powered using the normal 12v plug.
(From the ANNKEE Website it is a described as a) Up to 5MP Ultra HD Input (DW81KD-v3 model) The DVR supports 5MP cameras to provide you with 5MP streaming and 5MP lite recording, bring everything to life with stunning and clear details, even the license plate can be recognized easily. (Note:The 5MP DVRs supportup to 5MP TVI cameras, 4MP AHD & CVI cameras, and CVBS & 6MP IP cameras)
My ANNKE DW81KD v4.0 CCTV Camera Set-up is as follows
I have installed two 2.0MP Full HD, 1920 x 1080 Analogue Cameras, The Camera Resolution appears as 1920 x 1080 (1080p) @ 15fps, which is correct at 2,073,600 pixels.
I have also installed six 4.0MP Quad Wide HD, 2560 x 1440 (1440p) Analogue Cameras and the maximum Camera Resolution is 1280 x 1440 (4MP Lite) @ 15fps.
This is incorrect, and being the highest option available, is exactly half the size it should be at 1,843,200 pixels. Much less than even the 2.0MP Full HD 1080p resolution, which is 2,073,600 pixels yet this is a 4MP camera.
It should be 3,686,400 pixels which is twice as much as the system is showing. If the correct Camera Resolution was available, it would be still less than the 5MP max allowed for Analogue Cameras.
The system can deal with the 2560 x 1440 (4MP) resolution, but it is not an Analogue Camera option although it is available as an IP Camera option.
I have also installed two 2.0MP Full HD, 1920 x 1080 IP Cameras, which appear as 1920 x 1080 (1080p) @ 25fps and are correct at 2,073,600 pixels.
I have also installed a 5MP Super HD 2592 x 1944 IP Camera with 4X Zoom,
which appears as 2592 x 1944 @ 25 fps which is correct at 5,038,848 pixels.
The problem is only with the Analogue 4MP 2560 x 1440 Camera resolution being missing.
I also cannot find a Users Manual or Specification for the DW81KD-V4 model.
The ANNKE Dowmload only goes as high as the DW81KD-V3 model
Surely there must be a Manual and a Specification for the updated v4 model.

I purchased these after a battery operated smart camera let me down when my motorbike was stolen. Installing the hard drive was incredibly simple. Installing the cameras was a little more challenging as I needed very tall ladders and as these are wired you need to run physical cables between the cameras and the box, however I have all the tools and am a proficient DIYer so it was very doable.
PROs: The cameras will never run out of battery and they film constantly not only when they detect movement (something battery cameras need to do to conserve power).
The software and interface is excellent once you learn how to use it and because this records to a hard drive there is no subscription required saving you the typical 2.50+ per month many smart cameras charge. The app is very quick to set up once the system has been running for an hour or so. I found this delay was necessary as the QR code required did I not immediately appear on the relevant screen.
I connected mine to the internet using a power line adapter as it was not close to my router. This works incredibly well and the speed I can view any camera on my phone is really impressive. Especially when compared to other smart doorbell providers I could mention.
CONs: this is not a High resolution system. It’s good quality don’t get me wrong but it does struggle to see number plates for example on parked or passing cars particularly in night mode. This may be due to my installation so bear that in mind, but it’s good enough for my needs and better than a smart camera that doesn’t work! I’ve not been able to get the email notifications working so far. I can’t say I have made a concerted effort so it’s something I will need to try again but having networked the cameras this has been far less straightforward than the other features. Playback on the app is excellent but it doesn’t provide playback speeds in the same way the box itself does when connected to a tv. Something I hope they will fix in future.
You will need a TV connected to the box to set this up but it can be any tv using HDMI, but still a slight negative compared to smart cams which just use an app.
All in all this is a superb and cost effective security solution and I highly recommend it.
Great camera system for the price, clear picture and motion detection works well, works a little to well at night with moths and bugs setting it off, but you do have the option to turn it off via mobile app (the reason I only gave 4 stars) I had a slight problem with mine and customer service was great, sorted it out in less than 24 hours
Ordered thru Amazon and arrived in under 24hrs..set up was simple and straightforward (Had previous experience of this type of work) Cables were simply installed and also fitted was a WD 1TB surveillance hard drive in minutes, (this involves opening the Dvr unit to fit, this doesn’t invalidate the warranty and all cables required are supplied in the box) not a conventional Pc hard drive!! Software was a breeze as was the online and
Smartphone setup, camera definition is HD and crystal clear via 32 inch high definition TV / Monitor also a zoom facility is available.
Night Vision is very good and clear, Motion sensing is easily setup via the software and I can’t hear any noticeable sound from the installed hard drive..all in all this is a very good system for anyone looking to protect property / cars etc. 10/10 would certainly purchase this system again..
These security cameras surprised me so much!
A couple of pros and cons for someone that’s wanting to buy
Pro
– HD option for the camera quality is really good
– Pretty easy to install
– Setup is easy if you are average on a PC
– Motion detection is a big plus
– Alerts to your phone and it has a 2 way audio option
– Night vision is really good and clear considering
– The leads that it comes with are extremely long
Cons
The only thing that I would say is that it doesn’t come with the hard drive needed to constantly record the camera however you can buy this separate from this seller for 50 (1TB)
You can also record short periods if the motion sensor goes off on your phone or monitor that it is plugged into (5 mins I think) manually
The motion alarm goes off and automatically takes a picture and stores it to your notifications on the app so you can see what set off the alarm.
Overall this is amazing and I will be purchasing the hard drive and probably 2 more cameras.
Absolute bargain for the price!!! * * * * *
Box arrived with all necessary to complete the job, apart HDD (as description). The whole system is very easy to set up and running. Very good Android app too (there is an app for Iphone as well). Only down side (this is not ANNKE fault) are the bnc connectors and the power conncetors a bit tricky to pass through a wall. there is the possibility (which I didn’t test yet) of connceting IP cameras, so if you have any you can integrate them.
Great little bit of kit. Take note of if buying a model with or without a hard drive included. Comes with a sata cable, hard drive power cable and an ethernet cable. No need to buy separately.
Easy to put together. However the unit when used for the first time is a little fiddly when setting up things like a scheduled recording or motion detection etc. Instructions for this are not very clear. However once sorted, can be left to run. Pleased with the product.
Note also, the cables for the cameras are extremely long..!! Brilliant if need the cameras and Base unit very far apart. Not so good if they are close by.
Annke gets good reviews; the online help videos looked reasonably straight forward to follow and the price was good value, I purchased the 8 channel box unit which came with 2 cameras. I did also have to purchase the Hard Drive separately. This was okay as it gave me a choice of hard drive brand, quality and data storage size. I bought the WD Purple 1 TB Surveillance Hard Disk Drive, which was easy to install and is quiet running. My unit sits behind my television and uses one of my free HDMI channels to view (unless you have a spare monitor you can use). So long as the unit has correct connection to your router, most of the setting up is straightforward and a lot of the ip type settings are automated. The print size of the supplied manual is too small to read easily, so I downloaded the pdf manual which you can enlarge on screen. I initially could not get a connection to work with the iPhone Annke Vision app , it turned out I needed to allow connections in my phone settings then it was fine. Once I got it all working, I could not be happier with it, the quality is brilliant. I have recommended it to neighbours already. I did the whole project myself for under 200 (including buying cable run conduit supplied by B&Q and Screwfix) with a camera on front and back of house.
I’m really happy with this CCTV system, got it set up in a couple of hours and picture quality and functionality is great. Would be 5 stars but having to buy and install separate HDD is a wee pain. Otherwise it’s really good value and not too difficult for DIY install
What an amazing piece of kit. And for the price, you really can’t go wrong. So, lets get into it.
I’d been considering getting a CCTV kit for a while now so, I took the plunge and, if I’m honest, it was the price that grabbed me initially. My Unit arrived on time and was well packed. Upon opening, I had a 1tb HDD ready to fit [this was no more challenging than fitting a HDD to a PC]. Once completed, it was a case of drilling some rather large holes through my brickwork [20mm] and inserting some plastic pipe to allow easier feeding through of the cables and then simply mounting the camera’s, feeding the cables [just make sure you put the cables the RIGHT way around – They are labelled Camera and unit respectively] and just plug and play.
The daytime pic quality is amazing and, at night, I was astonished to see just how good they are. So impressed was I that I brought 2 additional camera’s right away. [I have no night time pics but trust me, they are VERY good].
The unit has capacity for up to 8 camera’s though I currently only use 3. The internal UI [User Interface] is VERY comprehensive and viewing stored recordings is a breeze [and often better than watching TV….you’d be amazed at what goes on when you’re not looking].
It’s good to know that my car [and those of my neighbours] are being watched and recorded 24/7. Who knew peace of mind could be so affordable. 🙂
In all, an amazing buy and certainly something I highly recommend. If you are thinking of getting a starter CCTV kit, then grab one of these, you won’t regret it.
I purchase an annke DVR 1TB with four 1MP cameras hard wired about 4 years ago. Since then I have added a 2MP camera and system is bullet proof, always connected when I open annke view app until other camera systems i have. This is why bought this new box with 2 additional cameras. Going to change out the box to give me up to 5MP and just keep existing cameras I have installed as is. I highly recommend annke to anyone. I must start and look into using the motion settings and other features. I have mine recording 24/7 and then had a standalone camera set to detect motion which recorded it to an SD CARD. THEN using the time stamp I’d go to my annke system. So to summarise for the price and quality band reliability, you will not be disappointed with annke. It always annoys me sometimes when people buy something band compare to something completely different, you always Ned to compare like for like products across competitors.
Great cheap CCTV unit, the camera’s obviously aren’t the greatest but they are more than sufficient for home usage and anyone up to no good doesn’t know the quality of your camera so its a great deterrent also.
Overall software isn’t terrible and non tech minded people may have difficulty getting it running but once it’s done, it’s done, adding and removing camera’s is as simple as two cables and giving them a name in the software.
The mobile app REALLY let’s it down though, it’ll let you view events but won’t let you track through footage despite looking like it will, push notifications either don’t work at all or you’ll the 3 million an hour due to how sensitive (or active) your boundary area is
Nice unit and easy to setup with the wired cameras. Good pictures over the internet. BIG drawback is that it claims to be a wifi ONVIF compatible system but according to Annke support there are no outside cameras available for it. Apparently there is only one indoor unit suitable and that looks like a Michelin man. I have spent a lot of time and bought several wifi cameras one upon reccomendation from Annke and none of them will connect to the clunky IP camera user interface. If you are looking for wifi remote cameras this unit is not for you. This unit is no better than my old Sannce unit which I have had for 3 years.
Street /garden surveillance(keeping an eye on hedgehogs) for security
Nice product very pleased with it, you have to add a hard drive which is easy to install ( you tube)
Two cameras with night vision and motion detect, I use the latter, I haven’t connected to internet because of location of unit( as it needs a hardwire connection) but did some testes and great to view on iPhone
bought this product to replace existing cctv system that had developed a fault in .dvr box.after fitting found one of the cameras had poor night vision. found infrared lights not coming on. contacted nicole on annke support team. she suggested various things but still the same.jane from customer services then contacted me thro e mail and it was decided camera was faulty.a new camera was sent to me and it was fitted now had two cameras with perfect night vision..on summing up i am delighted with this system.the quality and clarity of the video is amazing. customer services could not do enough for me. if anyone is looking for a good cctv system that is very reasonably priced you wont get any better than this annke system. TOM BOYD
Needed this having had someone help themselves to my bike one night. I found the unit very easy to get going, using one of many old hard disks I seem to collect. The cable lengths were more than ample and the cameras very clear. Slight minuses – the outside cable connectors are a bit chunky, so I made my own connections which also are now fully waterproof. Also, the software / web interface is quite usable, but for some reason the cameras have to be renamed when attached directly to the unit rather than using the web interface or software. The external web viewer, especially on mobile phones made the setup simpler when adjusting the camera angles. Finally on web, they also record regular ‘horror videos’ as the spiders in the area seem to be drawn to the cameras!
Updated Review:
System has a few technical glitches and can be quite complicated to set up but once up and running it works. My issues were mainly user related and after I spoke to the tech team at annke, everything was swiftly resolved. Not only did they help me fix the system but also sent me 2 extra cameras as compensation. Thank you Annke for a top notch service.
his is excellent value for money. the pictures are sharp and in colour until night sets in, the software is intuitive and easy to use. the unit and cams work off 12 volt dc via the mains adaptor. this means that with the right lead connector for power, you could rig it up in your car using the 12 volt car battery and have a cam facing forward and the other facing backwards. the password and start up wizard can be disabled in options and so its possible to get it to go straight into continious recording from power up. im not too sure if the cams are fully rain proof, put em in a little perspex box if not. i had an old hard disk drive ( 3.5 inch sata 3Gig byte / sec type ) lying around unused, so i was delighted to install it in this unit. this went well, internal cables and screws supplied.
Absolutely brilliant ! Don’t be fooled by the price this is a quality bit of kit and works flawlessly.
My other Annke CCTV system monitoring other parts has been continually working for almost 3 years now without a glitch or drop in quality, hence my second purchase of Annke ~ no I’m not sponsored or paid by them.
This systems picture day and night is excellent and the operating system has so many easy options to adjust.
Few things to note on this system ~ 1) when installing, running camera leads make sure they are ended the right way, one end is correct for camera and one for DVR end . I found out the hard way and run all cables only to find out one lead was wrong way round and had to re do it. 2) The power leads / UK plugs are supplied in this kit one for the DVR unit and one for 2 cameras, if you want to add more cameras you will need to buy another power supply for them ~ cheap enough. 3) There is no wifi built into this, to watch remotely ~ to connect you will either need an earthernet cable or as I did a “wifi bridger” i used a vosnet vap11g-300 and ignored the scarey reviews watched a couple of youtube vids and had it running in less than 10 mins and im useless on a pc ! 3) You must install a HDD to record, no external HDD will work ~ again dead easy to do but remember must be a 3.5 sata for surveillance and not for PC’s. The run differently…don’t ask me the ins and outs of that i just know that’s how it is….
So if you want a tidy cctv system that is easy to install and works really well then this is it ! Oh and a great price too !!
Cameras as a whole work great. At first the motion detection would be set off by buses going past even though the target field didn’t include the road. Now it is thundering, every time there’s a flash of lightning, the cameras alarm is set off and anything such as a moth or spider will also set the motion detection off. However, these cameras are still a really great and inexpensive home security solution. I got this for 60 and a 15 500GB HDD and can go several days before footage needs automatically wiping.
If I were to make a suggestion, it would be that annke add rubber feet around the 3.5″ mounting holes as the HDD in this camera system is louder than my entire computer.
Quite nice piece of hardware. Easy menu , easy to set-up. Bear in mind that this system is 1080p LITE , and will have a maximum frame rate record of 12 FPS. When you view it on a monitor connected to the dvr you can see up to 25FPS , but if you want to see footage recorded by the DVR then FPS will be just 12. Also , when you use their app to view on smartphone ( Annke Vision ) after 5 minutes of live view the app will pause the video stream. I was told by the seller that is happening because of my poor internet connection but this is not the case , and if you google a little bit , you can find on their website the info that maximum view time is 5 minutes. This does not mean after 5 minutes you can`t watch anymore, but you need to press play again , and you can watch another 5 minutes and so on. I would liked to have the option in the app to turn off this view limit of 5 minutes , as i have my ip camera connected to this dvr to watch my kid. I would give this product a 5 star review but unfortunately this feature is quite important for me and i assume for anyone else , and i hoped that the seller would have know about this limitation , but instead of confirming this limitation i was told that this is happening because of my poor internet connection.
Update: For some reason i couldn’t log in with my admin user. It was telling me password incorrect. I contacted Annke support and within 24 hours i received a password reset code. I had before another dvr but if u forget your admin password the only way to log in back with admin is to factory reset the dvr but with this one from Annke was so easy and i didn’t had to reset the whole settings for the equipment.
Product works as described, fantastic picture quality for the price. Reason for 4 stars is that I had an issue with a camera and/or cable, however the customer service has been faultless sending out replacements ASAP and even when I potentially made a mistake misdiagnosing they just allowed me to keep the camera (turns out it might have been both the cable and camera in the end).
Set up is pretty straightforward and although I liked being able to see the view on my phone the app kept losing the connection. I’m not too bothered as I’ll just use the system itself.
ok so this was tough one for me. to start it is just h.264 (no such thing as plus and recording sizes are as standard to that format. I use a 1tb HDD to record a month and it doesn’t fit ( i expected this though). claims that the cameras are 1080p i cannot comment on. They work and have help capture a thief HOWEVER i cannot make out number plates out on moving cars as they go past as detail is low (worth noting also the DVR will only let you record 15FPS at 720p) so if the cameras can view 1080p you cant record or review it in that resolution. I suspect what is meant here is the video output to your display is 1080p (best to use a VGA cable if using with a TV) hdmi cable worked fine on a monitor but the TV wouldn’t have any of it, purchased a VGA cable and its perfect now. other than that IT WORKS for the price, its cheap but you can see enough to make out people clothing night vision works well but dont expect to make out high detail.
I bought this kit & the hardest part was drilling the holes through the walls & running the cables.
First off the instructions are pointless…but it’s pretty straight forward to connect it all up.
You will probably have to ‘fiddle’ with the settings to get a good picture. The default settings made the picture too dark…so you will need to work out the menu system. To help with this there are some good YouTube videos available.
I’ve used some waterproof junction boxes installed next to each camera so when the cameras need changing in a few years…it should be easy as the cables are already in place. Just remember to use good old vaseline to coat the cables in the boxes to help keep the water out.
Another thing to understand is that in night mode you may suffer ‘artifacts’ if there are light coloured walls, webs etc causing the infra red lights to bounce back towards the lens. Even more expensive systems can suffer similar issues.
So all in all a reasonably good system at a very good price..
Update..One camera is now showing signs of water ingress as shown in photo. I found their customer service to be totally unhelpful!
Don’t expect miracles for the price, but it is good enough for basic needs. Also worth doing some research on what 1080p “Lite” is all about, because it is a bit of a con really. The cameras are good close up but if you’re trying to make out details in the distance, say at the end of a garden or driveway, then spend a bit more and get a higher resolution. However when people are within 6-12 feet of the camera, you can make out faces quite clearly.
Setup was pretty easy but I would recommend emailing Annke for the latest firmware, my user interface was quite buggy until I updated the firmware – menu and buttons kept disappearing when you hovered over them.
Setup was pretty easy once all the cables are in place. The wall plugs provided with the cameras are pretty poor so get yourself down to B&Q and get some beefer ones. All in all, you can’t really complain for the price.
This is a great DVR dose what I want it to and that is to watch the street and my car the day light picture quality is fantastic and the night vision is good not as good as day light vision but you can see good though and it is clear witch is the main it’s a very silent DVR with the red HDD light blinking every so often the mouse what comes with it is easy to use also the software built in is so easy to use to I went with the one with out the HDD with it PLEASE NOTE I MADE THE MISTAKE OF GETTING THE HDD WHAT AMAZON SUGGESTED TO PUT WITH IT AND THAT ONE WAS A PC DESKTOP HDD BAD IDEAR THE DVR DOSE NOT LIKE THEM IT WILL RESART AFTER SO LONG BECAUSE IT IS DESIGNED FOR A DESKTOP AND NOT 24. HOUR SECURITY YOU NEED A SURVEILLANCE HDD OVER 500GB FOR IT TO WOKR FINE PLEASE DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID AND GET THE SURVEILLANCE ONE I GOT THE WD 1TB WORKS PERFECTLY ITS ALL ON THE ANNKE WEBSITE WHAT SORT U NEED SEGATE SURVEILLANCE IS GOOD TO HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS THE DVR COMES WITH THE CABLES INSIDE NO NEED FOR EXTRA CABLES THE HDD WAS EASY TO PUT IN AND SECURE I SAY IT IS AS EASY AS PLUG AND PLAY MY DAD IS 70. AND HE DID IT FINE NO ISSUES
Considering the price this system is great value. The power and data cables are included for a Sata drive which is needed if recording video/audio is required. Installation was straight forward. The two 720 cameras provide an excellent picture day and night. The DVR has 4 video channels and audio on channel one. I had no problems setting the system up. Configuration, Live View and Playback do all the things I expect for systems priced far more. I have no problems operating the DVR remotely via the web interface (however exporting recorded MP4 or AVI files has to be done at the DVR). The software is designed to be compatible with larger systems so includes facilities that obviously cannot be used on this this system eg PTZ control, event management. Although not critical to me, I did have a problem getting email alerts to work. Customer support were very helpful and quick to respond. Turns out there is an issue with the Email ‘Test’ facility which continually failed. The solution is to ignore this and continue to set up the alerts as required. There are a few areas where I feel the software could be improved but that would be really ‘picky’. This is a great system and I hope it will continue to give me long service.
When we moved into our house there were already cameras in place, but the existing monitoring/recording system had failed. I was looking for something cost effective to utilise the existing camera equipment and this looked good value.
Adding a hard-drive was easy enough, just remove the top case and connect it to the system board using the power and sata cables provided. I had an old 1.5TB external drive which I took the HDD from and it worked without issue.
Connecting up the existing cameras went without a hitch as they had the BNC connectors. I did receive 2 cameras with this device although I have yet to connect them so can’t comment on their quality.
Positives:
Easy to set-up and configure to view and record
Good quality picture (I don’t have any audio setup).
Android (Annke Vision) app works well.
Negatives:
Only viewable via Internet Explorer on a PC. Not sure if this works on a MAC
For just over 50 I got a lot more than I expected from this little unit. I’d recommend it if you are on looking for something to get you started.
I’m new to cctv so firstly looked on Amazon at some systems to guage what was good from user reviews. So if you type cctv in all these ANNKE systems come up. And it seems folk are pretty chuffed with what they are getting for the money. I was expecting the systems to cost alot more than what I was looking at but as with technology I guess this kind of thing is quite old-school now and prices have come down. Not to say there’s anything wrong with old school. And you really won’t find better for the money. Install wise you need to have a good idea of where you will run your cables before you begin. I’m my case I had to drill out a 20mm hole in the gable to feed the cables into the loft and then run them through the floor of the loft into a bedroom. The connectors on the wires are quite chunky so if you are going through brick or stone work then a 20mm bit on a sds drill is advisable.
The receiver and cameras have their own separate power supplies so you will need 2 sockets free. A terminal from a camera slots into the box and the other connects to a splitter cable which is fed by the power supply.
Hard drive wise I would recommend buying and internal 3.5″ standard type with at least 1tb of space. Prob 2tb if you go for 4 cameras. You open the box up with 4 little black screws and attach the drive with the cables and screws provided. Then close it all up and place it next to your TV or monitor. I hooked it up to a tv with a 5 quid HDMI cable from Asda. The hard drive will need initializing/formatting before use and there is an option in the initial setup of the system to do this.
I havnt figured all the settings out yet. And there are a ton to go through ! But basic opertion and playback is easy enough.
Quality is ok. But don’t expect to be zooming in on long distances thinking you can see the colour of people’s eyes. it’s fantastic for the money but just bear in mind it’s not a professional system. The closer you can get the cameras to what your trying to cover the better. But obviously you don’t want them within tamper reach.
As far as I am aware you are able to connect a max of 4 wired cameras to this. And if you know what your doing with networks you can add a 5th wireless camera and hook it up so you can view on your phone or devices. Something I have not got round to but will prob add more cameras and have a go.
The actual kit is decent for the money. The receiver is a bit naff looking but the cameras are nice, small and discrete. The little screws they have to adjust the angles with are soft so be careful not to round them off.
Overall I am impressed and I would recommend it to anyone who fancies a go. Not hard to set up but plan first before you buy where the cameras will go, what you want to cover, where you will run the cables and you could do with someone who is a little technically minded. Especially if you plan to network.
Have fun !
Overall it’s good value for money. The cameras work and the recorder works. I’ve only just installed it all so can’t comment on how well the cameras will winter yet.
The built in software is ok. The QR code they supply to link to a mobile software doesn’t work. So I don’t know which app is meant to work with this particular system and there are many, none of which have good reviews.. The instruction manual suffers from being a generic one for all of their systems, which isn’t helpful. But, it’s cheap, it seems to work. I installed a hard drive. You don’t need to order connectors (Which Amazon unhelpfully suggests) for the hard drive as they are supplied. I’m still finding my way around the software a bit. Some of the functions are for more sophisticated equipment i think.
I think what you actually get is 2x 720p cameras and a recorder capable of recording 1080p. The description on here is very confusing.
The camera cables are nice and long.
You do need to order an HDMI cable if you plan to view it on your tv or monitor, and an Ethernet cable if you want to be able to use the remote viewing option…if you can figure out which app you need.
Lastly, an off button would have been nice!
No more baby monitors! This system was so cheap I couldnt imagine how it could do what I needed but it is excellent. I only have one single issue with it and that is I just cannot get the wifi remote access to work. It is incredibly confusing and unclear and the website menus do not match the menus on the machine I have so I have given up as it was an added bonus anyway.
The system itself is excellent. I ought the 2 camera system for less than 60 but have now purchased 2 more cameras as my system has 4 camera connections. This system does not rely on any airwaves or wifi or internet as it is completely wired. Yes there are wires on the ceiling and down the walls but that is easily remedied if you want them hidden from view by channelling into the plaster, going through the ceiling into loft or floor space or covering them somehow.
So wires yes but you can do what you need to cover them or hide them.
I bought a little 7″ monitor for my system which was less than 50 and is excellent! The images on the screen from the camera to the monitor are crisp and sharp.
Within each camera, via the mouse which is provided, you click to access menus including 1 to 4 camera view or zooming in on the screen which continues to give exceptional clarity of image. The night vision is also excellent. We are using the cameras indoors (two as baby monitors) and one is outdoors at the gate with the buzzer so we can see now who is pressing the bell! The other one I havent got a job for yet but I will think of something! They are just excellent!
I really do wish now that I had purchased the HDD version with the recordable hard drive but that is (I believe) easily purchased separately to integrate into the system.
I spent ages trying to find out why there werent plugs for each of the cameras until I finally worked out what the 1 into 4 cable in the box was for! One end of this plugs into the control unit and the other 4 connect to each of the camera cables hence powering up to 4 cameras at the same time! (I am not good with technology or electronics or DIY! – my camera cables are currently held up with duct tape!).
The baby monitor this system replaced was 150 and was a constant nightmare until it completely failed after only 3 months. I have been through so many baby monitors through the years (my son has a terminal illness and has 24/7 nursing hence the need for the cameras all the time). I wish I had thought to buy a CCTV system years ago but I always thought they were for shops or offices.
There are a lot of wires around the control unit but again that is about your own tidiness and how you arrange it all neatly – I just havent got around to it yet!
An excellent system so far and I would definitely recommend the little mini TV!
Please if somebody has a total idiot guide to connecting this to WiFi for remote access – please let me know!!!
(PS the photos I have attached say much more about the poor quality of my laptop camera and my photography skills than they do about the quality of the images from the CCTV – the images are crystal clear!)
I already have an eight camera system which was sanaya and I paid over 250 for it. This is for my sister.
Build quality excellent for price, my cameras seem more sturdy but the cameras look okay.
Quality of camera is okay, I set this all up in prep for next week so had a play.
Interface is good and some parts you need to figure out but tbh I liked the interface and options.
The manual could be better to cater for the vast array of options but I guess this is on the cd.
Few points to note .
1) it comes with hard drive power cable and sata cable and mounting screws. I went and bought some but like they say check the box first! I just assumed no h/d no accessories
2) don’t download the Annke view doesn’t work properly. But got the annke vision fine nice easy interface.
3. stream encryption.. took a few goes to get this working as when using phone via 4g kept saying password was wrong.
I’ll be playing with this more on weekend when I install it so will update then.
But all in all, for money… you can’t got wrong.
Oh I bought the 1tb wd blue h/d for 36, which equates to 4tb using the latest encryption protocol.
Setup time.. about hour, as you setup harddrive, accounts and mobile application. Like said will update late
Bought the 2 cam no hdd box and finally installed it today ( 22/3/18) and am very happy. Was under the impression the cameras only went up and down but that isn’t correct, they can be spun in any direction by twisting the threaded bit at the base and the 2 screws to the desired direction ( the camera head itself swivels via undoing the top screw) so even more happier.
Some say they never got cables for the hdd but mine came with both power and Sata cable. Night vision isn’t bad in my back yard that is really pitch dark and cans still see well enough . Daytime view is also very very good so no complaints from me on the views. I already had a hole in the wall from previous sky tv cables so use a 18mm sds drill bit to get the connectors through, enough room to get cables through but not to big to look messy. Never used the manual as it’s not that hard to figure out what goes we’re and what does what. Use the Annke vision app as the other one is a pain to work with and I couldn’t even get it to see my cameras so I gave up on it. Vision one works perfectly.
All in all I’m very happy and am planning on getting 2 more cams just because looking at 2 blank screens on the app bugs me 🙂 .
I have only just got it, but it was reasonably easy to set up, using google and youtube as the manual isn’t greatly clear. I am actually using a 2.5″ drive I had lying around and will get a 3.5″ if needs be in the future. It’s mostly plug and play, The cams are basic but decent enough, 720p, I couldn’t figure out how to set up e-mail connection but to be honest I don’t want alerts every time someone just walks past my house or my phone would never shut up! I did however get the Annke Vision app working very easily and can readily view either cam’s footage live from my phone, anywhere, and even view recorded footage and motion detection recordings (be aware, uses a LOT of data if away from wifi).
UPDATE 19.07.19: I decided I wanted two more cams, it was actually cheaper to buy this system again, as it was 48 on prime day and this time it came with 1080p cams instead of the 720p cams it came with 18 months ago, so now I have my two original 720p cams, two new 1080p cams, all the necessary wiring (and spare recorder if mine ever fails) all for 104!
EDIT 29/07/19, I did something by accident and managed to get my wireless IP cam working on this system now, I don’t know how, but I’m not complaining!
ANNKE 4+1-Channel 1080P Lite CCTV Camera System H.264+ HD-TVI DVR Recorder+ 2x 720P 1.0 Megapixels Weatherproof Security Cameras System, NO HDD
At the price I was expecting to much, but I have to say the product surpassed all expectations.
I added a Hard Drive and was surprised at how easy it was to set up. I also was not expecting to find the ability to check a hard drive for faults, this was handy as the drive was not brand new, be warned if you are using a large capacity drive it may take some time, mine was only 500gb and took about 90mins to complete. Once this was done setting the rest up was actual quiet easy. I didn’t attach the camera to start with as I was setting up for a friend and was surprised to find that it could see my Wi-Fi cameras which I could added to test the record features.
Once I had set up and installed the picture quality from the cameras was very good, in fact it may be better than the afore mentioned Wi-Fi camera which cost almost as much as the pack.
Overall I would recommend this to anyone working on a budget but looking for easy set up and use, worth every penny, I amy even purchase another on just for the DVR side to use with my current cameras
After a couple of incidents outside my house including having my new car vandalised, I decided to install a CCTV setup for some peace of mind. I decided to buy this setup and added a 1TB hard drive to the same order, and overall I am incredibly impressed. Fitting the hard drive took no effort at all, and if you can operate a basic screw driver you will be able to do this easily.
Once fitted and powered up, it was a breeze to setup. It automatically formatted the HDD for recording, and the setup wizard was easy to follow and took hardly any time to setup.
The cameras themselves and small and discreet, and the picture quality is really good, especially considering how cheap the whole package costs. The cameras switch from full colour to infra-red night vision automatically, and have a good range, even in pitch black, and the cables are long enough to cover a fair distance.
My only gripes are the connectors, which are not waterproof, and also the BNC connectors for the video are quite large, so if you need to drill through an external wall it needs a very large hole, and is also very fiddly to get the cable through, and the connections at the camera itself isn’t waterproof but takes no effort in the scheme of things!
Great little product, the picture is clear, fitted it easily and set up to my TV via HDMI. I bought a separate wireless mouse due to the location of the unit but I am very happy with my CCTV. I added two more cameras, mainly due to my OCD didn’t like having two empty channels. I have it recording on motion only, the motion sensor works well once I set the sensitivity to suit the environment and the 360GB HDD I bought separately and fitted myself has been running for over a month and not started to overwrite yet.
The e-mail alarm is very sensitive, I tend not to use that as (130 alerts one morning, everything from cats to rain). it is easy to check alerts manually if you want/need to and small segments can be saved to flash drive and sent to the police if evidence is needed.
I can monitor remotely on my iPhone. I am using the Annke Vision app free from the App Store. It allows you to monitor each camera and remotely record if you wish to.
All in all I am 100% happy with this.
I purchased this product along with a DVR and hard drive. I installed and mounted everything myself and I cannot tell you how impressed I am with it all. I live alone, in the middle of nowhere in the French Pyrenees and was prompted to purhase surveillance equipment because of several sinister occurances. The decision was made when some windows were smashed in the middle of the night. Even though I have dogs and was aware of a presence, it was not possible to identify who was reponsible. So I bought this equipment, set it all up … it is SO EASY and am up and running. The night vision is amazing to me and I had my son pretend to be an intruder and in the middle of a black, black night and the clarifification is extraordinary. The day light recording is crystal clear also. I cannot fault it at all for the price. The remote control did not work and I let the company know. They were prompt in replying, very courteous, informative and sent me a replacement immediately. When I go to work and go to bed I just turn the switch on and let it all happen. If I am burgled and/or murdered at least it will be clear who did it! Really though, for the price and the quality one cannot hel but be impressed. Nice one x.
i had been looking for a home cctv system for a couple of years and for the tech i wanted everything was Stupid prices. I took a chance on this Sannce system and so pleased i did.. its only been up 4mths and already been used to prosicute a criminal who was going round our estate slashing tyres. Great Quality footage even at night . Im Now looking into adding 2 more cameras to the system as it can have 4 connected at once.
It was SO EASY to set up and all i had to do was buy a hard drive and fit it to get constant 24hr recording on both cameras. a 320gig hdd cost me an extra 10 and this does a weeks recording.. Criminals beware if you can get this good a quality cctv for this kind of price then This is a bargain.. You can even download an app and view your cameras from anywhere in the world.. i cant praise this piece of equipment enough…….
First ordered this on the 17th and was supposed to come on the 19th via prime. Unfortunately it got delayed by 3 days so amazon decided to give me a refund. I ordered this again because I trust the service enough and it came on Friday the 23rd.
We finished installing it only to notice that the 2nd camera didn’t work when it was wired up. We found out that it was the wire so I ordered another for it to come on Christmas Eve. We got it all sorted out and it works really good. The quality is very good from a product that is 65.99.
There’s no point spending 200 when you can get this and have the same quality. The app is also good and allows us to check the house when we’re at work etc.
Overall I would recommend this product who wants a good but cheap system.
Great value for money. The software could be a bit more user friendly. The software works but it’s complex with files in files. Luckley my partner is a wiz with computers so it was ok. You do need a hard drive but the power cable and the SATA cable is inside the DVR so no need to buy extra caples. I only mention because I notice people have been buying the cable when buying the hard drive. Picture quality is excellent and cameras very robust. The app works well too. We were away and able to long on and check all was fine. You can add more camera to this system which I will do now I know it works perfectly. This is really a five star product but the complex software makes a four star.
The cameras and the DVR work fine. I fitted a standard 1TB internal disk drive in it with the cables already supplied with the PVR and it formatted automatically. Once I had fitted the cameras to the external walls (had to drill an 18mm hole through the wall which is then covered by the camera mounting base and the integral camera leads are long enough for the connectors to protrude on the inside of my standard double-skinned wall), I connected the supplied cables and ran them to the other side of my house (again, I had to drill through my internal walls to route them to the desired location, which was the TV in the lounge). I connected the included power supply via the splitter lead to the two power cables from the cameras and the two signal cables from the cameras to the DVR and, finally, an HDMI cable (not supplied) between the DVR and the TV. After switching it all on, a little setting up was required and then it was up and running. I initially had only one camera displaying on the TV and so I went to the non-functioning camera and covered the lens with my hand until I heard the camera relay click (this was virtually instantaneous) and, after a few seconds delay, up came the second picture. I downloaded the app to my phone and that works fine (live feed only available) but closing the app doesn’t shut it down and, if left, will drain your battery so you have to go into settings and stop it (NOTE TO SANNCE – please fix this!). I can also access the DVR from my PC’s browser but it only works with IE, not Chrome, and I had to fiddle with security settings before it would work. With the browser you can review saved footage but, as far as I have figured out, you cannot copy it off the PVR (ANOTHER NOTE TO SANNCE – please also fix this!)
Good system for the price, 2 cameras supplies with capacity to add another two. The supplied cameras are 960 x 576 for a PAL system s a little better than SD, sort of halfway to 720p so don’t expect max clarity beyond 6 metres/20 foot from the camera, but certainly adequate for seeing who is calling and looking over the garden or the car on the drive etc. The IR night vision mode is black and white, and again is clear, it looks like you are watching Most Haunted in Night Vision mode.
There is NO Hard Disk supplied but it is easy to fit one such as: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Generic-Hard-Disk-Drive-320GB/dp/B006WHTIDA/ref=pd_sim_60_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=417YDGW91HL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=B82ASKZZAP7N9NWRPYFX
That is a 320 Gb That should give about 7 days 24/7 with one camera operating with recording quality set to higher (approx 3,000 kbps bitrate) Codec is H264 so file size reasonable.
Plug in to a spare PC monitor, or TV and you are good to go.:
Apparently the DVR will handle higher resolution cameras, so upgrading cameras should be an option later, bear in mind that for anything beyond the supplied cameras, a 1 – 2 Tb HDD would be better to handle the larger data being stored.
