Bought from Singapore. Was in perfect condition fortunately. Years of wait for a 24″ 1440p IPS that has high refresh rate. My eyes couldn’t comprehend all the pixels in front of me suddenly.
A great upgrade from my 27″postage stamp looks great only thing dont like is the buttons at the bottom seems very fiddley going through. All the picture options , but all in very happy with it first time going curved screen will never go back to flat .
Replaced a samsung 24″ curved display which I always found slightly blurry and left me with headaches if I used it too much. This monitor is excellent, great screen image right up to the edges and good brightness. So far, can’t rate it highly enough.
I’m not using it for gaming, so can’t comment on refresh rates but for multi-screen documents its amazing
As I needed 3 monitors, I opted for this wide curved as It can give me 2 19 inch monitor size windows. I had it for over 2 weeks and so far I have to say it is amazing, im not a super tekky or wanted this for games, I just needed a decent monitor to do my work and so far this monitor has done justice. Im very happy I bought it and recomend it to anyone.
I found this monitor really good for gaming and running at such good definition and gaming is really
a good experience. I would recommend this AOC 34″ curved screen monitor. Another plus factor is there
has been a price drop since I purchased it over a year ago.
The only very slight niggle is the colour adjustments under bottom right of screen can be fiddly and confusing till you get used to them.
only bad thing is the osd is annoying to use but everything else is amzing and i hope more companies and aoc make more like these, 240hz ones and 24.5 maybe because for me thats the best size, but this is again just amazing if you want a 24 inch 1440p 165hz, amazing experience.
For the price you pay this monitor is absolutely the way to go for a budget ultra wide. Smooth 144hz refresh rate which stays stable throughout my usage regardless of what I’m doing. Easy set up with the stand (just snap in place and go) AND while on the topic of the stand, it offers nice flexibility and great height adjustment to fit into your setup perfectly. I will be using this monitor as my primary for a long time to come.
Omg the 144Hz is so much smoother than 100Hz you can really tell the difference try it yourself, go to Display Settings and set it to 100Hz then 144Hz you will notice a world of difference omg how did I even live without 144Hz for so many years
Been using the monitor for about a month, and so far really impressed. A good 144Hz VA panel with minimal ghosting and also came with no defective pixels.
The stand is probably the best part. it’s good quality with some weight, height adjustable, and swivels.
Definitely recommend this for a budget 1440p gaming monitor. I don’t think you get much better than this for the price bracke
Soddisfatto!!!
Had this for around 6 months now.
The build quality is great, had an issue with a dead pixel on the first one but was replace right away. The speakers are not good but everything else is excellent. I have been using it to run an xbox series X and although some features do not work I can say it works very well.
It’s bright and holds frames without issue.
Great budget monito
Makes really nice impression but there is a stark contrast between this and my other monitor Dell – white colour is not really white. Its creamy white.
Good side is that colours are very rich. Its nice to play computer games which are fairly static like strategies or Rpgs.
Fr z.B. die Ps5 perfekt. Funktioniert alles wie beschrieben. Empfehlenswert.
Great lil monitor.
Bought this monitor when it first came out and has served me well for years. That is until i managed to knock it off my desk while moving stuff around and it landed screen down on my metal microphone.
I ordered the AOC 24G2SPAE version which is 165mhz compared to the 144mhz of the previous model.
After ordering it and it being dispatched I noticed there were other variants of the same monitor on here and to my disappointment I realised that the version I ordered came with a stand that was not height adjustable. My old monitor was the version with a height adjustable stand and lucky for me it fits into the new monitor 🙂
SO JUST TO HELP PPL OUT
AOC 24G2SPAE – ips screen, no usb ports on the back and the stand is fixed height.
AOC 24G2SP – ips screen, no usb ports on back and the stand IS height adjustable.
AOC 24G2SAE – va screen, no usb ports on the back and the stand is fixed height.
AOC 24G2SPU – ips screen, does have usb ports on back and stand IS height adjustable.
I hope this helps a little. either way it’s a great lil 1080p monitor 🙂
What my partner likes :- the monitor is light but it now where a feel of cheap plastic,it has a sleek look, the picture is perfect with it the resolution awesome, he likes you can change the gaming specs by the screen, he loves the tilting and it goes quite high, no damage, no blemishes,it just arrived and he been on their for atleast a hour playing with the panel that best suits his gaming ways and eyes.
HIS DISLIKES:- THEIR NO SPEAKERS ON THE MONITOR, ( he asked them to be capital) their is a ear phone hole so you can attach speakers, or if you got Bluetooth you can Bluetooth it with your tower, ( which he has done ) he said the sound is crisp and clear is alot of bass, no static in background, he said you can play around with the equaliser through you speakers or headphones anyways,
He loves this and we’ll impressed, I even had to show him reciept as it wasn’t more than it feels, he would recommend this pc to anyone
I purchased the AOC Gaming 32 Inch QHD Curved Monitor when I was in need of a new display, and I’m absolutely thrilled with my purchase. This monitor is perfect for gaming, with its 165hz refresh rate and 1MS response time, it gives a smooth gaming experience even with the fast paced FPSs I enjoy. I’ve played several games on this monitor and noticed a significant improvement in performance and responsiveness compared to my old monitor which was 75hz one.
Setting up the monitor was very easy, couple of screws was all it was, and I appreciated the inclusion of a variety of connectivity options, including HDMI and DisplayPort. Options are always good!
If you’re in the market for a new gaming monitor, I would highly recommend considering this one.
After watching quite some reviews, I decided to go for the AOC 24G2. Since most of the videos were aimed to the US audiences and mostly refer to the older version, I had my fair share of doubts. However, those went away quickly. The image is very sharp, the ergonomics are awesome, speed s brilliant (specially for those wanna be pro FPS players). Absolutely recommended
A good monitor. I got this for my newly built pc and works just fine, the screen quality is good so far. I’ve come from a ps4 TV 30fps background so by my standards this is by all means an upgrade. The only thing I don’t like is the barely adjustable monitor stand, it’s worth getting an arm. Also has in built speakers which is nice.
For that price I think at the moment this is a best monitor on market, I’m use with rtx 3070 ti aorus works perfect, recommended
As someone that is only just getting into gaming, this is a great gaming monitor, the image quality is amazing. However, the only small things I’m not a fan of are the red on it and the buttons on the bottom which are a bit hard to navigate – nothing major at all.
If you are looking for a very curved monitor this is not for you beca It is very slight but other wise it is a grea
Monitor is perfect for gaming, was easy to set up and looks great.
I would suggest however going into the pc display settings as the screen will not automatically output 165hz without changing the settings yourself and will also need to use the display port cable for 165hz not the hdmi.
It can only be tilted upward and downward while it is fixed on the stand. If you want to move the screen sideways to the left and right then you you’ll need a vesa mount.
Beautiful monitor especially after messing around with some settings. The built-in speakers are really bad unfortunately so use other speakers or a headset.
Bought this monitor as I’m going to be using it as my main screen once I build my first pc. To make sure it all worked I decided to plug my laptop into it using the HDMI cable that is included in the box. You can only go up to 144hz on this monitor even though it says its 165h… Just kidding. When you use a HDMI cable then you won’t being able to go above 144hz, instead use the included DP (display port) if you want the full 165hz. The colours are flawless after some tuning in the settings. But one thing which I consider false advertising, is that this product boasts it’s ‘1ms response time’, but after some testing it was actually anywhere from 4ms-17ms which is multiple times slower than advertised. This means there is a bit of ghosting but you should be able to use the overdrive setting to keep this to a minimum. Other than that the screen is great. The stand is a bit shaky, but my desk is sturdy so theres nothing to worry about there. One thing to note is that the monitor screen does not go up or down, or side to side. But it can tilt forward and back as advertised. I’ll give it a 5/5 because it’s more than you should expect for such a low price and completes its purpose.
This monitor is fantastic for any gaming set up. The option to go up to 144hz it’s fantastic and I haven’t experienced any ghosting or anything on it. The settings on the monitor are also great as you can really make the colours pop and make some games look even better without having to install graphical mods. Would honestly recommend this monitor for anyone who wants a great monitor for gaming that doesn’t break the bank.
I recently purchased three AOC Gaming 27G2U monitors for myself + family and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The monitors are bright, have good colour accuracy and are very responsive – all of which are important factors for me as I am an avid gamer.
One of the best features of this monitor is the ability to use it as a vertical monitor. This was a must-have for me as I often work with long documents and having the ability to view them in portrait mode is a game changer. The setup process was very easy and I was able to adjust the monitor to the perfect viewing angle without any hassle.
The only downside to these monitors is the speakers, which could be better. However, they are perfectly acceptable for someone who doesn’t have any other speakers. The sound quality is a bit tinny and lacks bass, but this is a minor issue in my opinion.
Overall, I highly recommend the AOC Gaming 27G2U monitor for anyone looking for a reliable, responsive, and versatile monitor that can be used in both landscape and portrait mode.
Context matters so here’s some: I have had a 27″ Dell screen for a decade. It has served me very well, but I use newer screens at work that, while also just 60hz, have more vibrant colours and deeper blacks – everything about my Dell monitor seems greyer than it should after having had it for so long. I don’t have a load of money, so a 32″ IPS was always going to be out of my budget range.
I looked at the competition and was almost tempted by a 300 gigabyte monitor with similarly good reviews, but at 250 and with a slight (and actually awesome) curved display, I went with this.
Right out of the box it looked…disappointing. So I fiddled with the display settings and very quickly had the brightness down and the contrast up and, well, it looks great. The blacks are deep and the colours rich (I am not into natural-looking colours) and my first game test was Crysis Warhead, a game that always felt washed-out on my old monitor). Looked great, very happy, so loaded up Firewatch, a game where the colours really pop and it too looked great. Finally, Dishonored 2, and yet again I was delighted…until I noticed some light/dark flickering. I jumped into the forums and there were a number of people complaining about this. Seems it’s par for the course for VA monitors. It was too noticeable to ignore and not fixed with a display driver update or the monitor’s own drivers installed via Device Manager. Seems it’s a g-sync thing, so I turned off DCR but still no difference.
This may be a deal-breaker for you, but as someone who doesn’t do any gaming that requires stupidly high FPS in order to be a twitchy-shooter god, the fix I found (and it has completely fixed the problem) was simply to change the display to 120hz, from 144hz. My eyes do not notice the difference; maybe some of you will but I do not. This monitor does have Overdrive settings that I may play around with at some point but one quick setting change and everything is fine.
For the money, no buyers regret. Can’t 5* because of the screen flicker at 144hz (it’s on the box, so disappointing that I probably won’t ever use it) but after only ever having used 60hz monitors, it’s still a joy to use. Oh, and the screen curve feels entirely natural and does add something to gaming that I didn’t expect it to.
Out of the box, the colours are VERY red. It took me a while to get them where I wanted them in the software. However, the screen runs buttery smooth, great for gaming or just general computer use. Just remember to set your refresh rate in windows to 165Hz. As well as any game you might be playing.
I have read many reviews of this AOC Gaming CU34GX Monitor with some mixed review. But I can honestly say that for the price, this is an absolutely fantastic monitor. There is a little tweaking to do, but when your there, it will blow your mind away. This is not a sales pitch or a promotion. This is a genuine buyer who bought this and it was delivered yesterday ( 20.02.2023) Graham from Bury.
Purchased this product last year and till this day has not let me down no issues with the monitor but few things could be adjusted to make the product even more better. One thing that could be improved is that when u go onto setting and choose the game setup it has a red crosshair right in the middle which may useful for some users but when it comes to removing the crosshair from your screen its an issue it does not go away with one button and for me to take it of the screen I have to either unplug the monitor or turn of the monitor. Another thing that could be fixed is that the display of the screen does not meet every corner there’s a thin black lane on the sides which could also be developed to meet each sides. Apart from that I am satisfied with the product!
I have just received a “AOC Gaming Q27G2U – 27 inch QHD Monitor”
but is not turning on, it should display a light but it doesn’t. I have tried 3 different sockets, they are working with my old monitor, what is the problem? I have now resolved the problem
Upgraded my old Acer monitor to this, and boy was it a huge leap forward!
My old monitor was 2k resolution and 144hz, but it was the 1st gen of those monitors so after 6+ years of heavy use it had been burnt in so badly at the top where my tabs are that it hindered me playing games. It was also flickering and the black was more like grey and super pixel-y.
I got this Aoc monitor in the NYE sale and I am SO happy with the value for money, really wasn’t expecting this kind of quality for the price.
It did take some tweaking and fiddling to get everything just right for me, felt like the red was so bleeding red it hurt my eyes when I first turned on HDR. Sad to say the software (G-menu) for the monitor is terrible, but in the end the monitor was calibrated and the picture quality is top. I went from saying “where?!?” all the time to “I see them”, amazing what some more colours and better contrast/depth can do. I also have a lot less eye strain, I never even considered the old monitor had that much impact on my eyes.
Very highly recommend this monitor as a fantastic value for money high quality monitor, even at full price.
eally pleased with this purchase which was for my new gaming pc. the colours seem very good and i haven’t felt the need to make any adjustments from the default settings. a real visual pleasure to play games on full settings
Good curved 1440p monitor with a super easy set up. Button controls aren’t difficult to operate and the picture is crisp. Good colour range. Only tweaking I’ve had to do was to lower the brightness and a tadge on the contrast. One can also lower your brightness using Nvidia’s control panel. Nice curve and operated straight away at 144mhz with HDMI 2.1 cable. Not used the headphone socket yet, nor the speakers, but I gather they’re fine for what they are. You can’t expect studio monitor reference speakers in such items and the price of this monitor is amazing value.
I own the g9 Odyssey and a few other cheap monitors from work – prior to getting this master piece, I got Samsung’s garbage monitor (G5) which I couldn’t stand for more than an hour.
I was trully disapointed and returned the garbage monitor and got this one (a much cheaper option) and honestly, it’s mind-boggling, the monitor is 100% spot on – I’m pairing it with a ps5.
Brightness : 80% – wish it was a tiny bit brighter
Colors : 90%
Screen quality: 90%
Bought this to replace an AOC 24″ VA panel because it gave me a headache when gaming and had a lot of ghosting. This monitor is in a different ball park! Colours look great and flat, ghosting isn’t noticeable. Very bright also. Another bonus is I didn’t realise it could display 2160p@60hz as it is the 1440p model (must downscale but looks great against 1080p where you don’t have a 1440p option)
Points positifs :
– Dalle VA donc bon contraste
– 27 pouces taille parfaite pour mon set up
Mchte man also absolut kein Ghosting muss die Helligkeit hoch, darunter leidet allerdings dann alles was dunkel ist. Sehr schade.
Fr den kleinen Geldbeutel also vllig ok.
The monitor was bought for Xbox Series X to get 120 FPS playing Warzone mainly but also other single player games. It gets 120 FPS at 1440p and looks great. I’m not an expert but this is perfect for me. It doesn’t have HDMi 2.1 so no 4k 120 but for the price of this monitor it will be worth buying until HDMi 2.1 monitors come down in price.
I also use this as part of a home office setup for productivity tasks and as expected it’s great for these too.
I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this monitor performs and would highly recommend it.
Q27G2U 1440p 144hz
Only had this monitor for a day but is exactly as described. No issues with the picture at all and the stand is very sturdy.
I brought this monitor for 169 which I think is excellent value but have seen it jump between 169 and 230 a lot this week so be careful at what time you buy. Not sure if I just got lucky with the price.
Lovely monitor. Upgraded from 24″ Asus, to a 32 AOC”, and i am very impressed with the image i am getting. Although the Asus was great, i just wanted a change.
For me it is a perfect size, and my first curved monitor.
At the right distance, the screen really does surround you. Having no glare from the screen is a refreshing feeling, and allows you to take full advantage of the picture quality.
I have the monitor on a springed monitor arm, and fairly high up and i find viewing the screen very comfortable indeed.
This is my first curved screen product and i am so glad with my decision. The stand that is supply is very substansive and well made, but i just preferred the use of an arm to give more desk space.
I had searched for a monitor for a while now, and to get a decent balance on price with “G-sync” and a decent “Hz” rating. I feel i made a good decision.
Would recommend this item to anyone looking for an upgrade.
I’ve only been running this monitor for 24hrs but can safely say I’m very pleased with it. I picked it up at 431 which compared to others in this spec bracket seems like decent value for money. Only negative so far is the fiddly menu buttons compared to the joystick I’ve seen on other monitors – bit of a pain but not a deal breaker. Only setting I’ve changed so far is to Gamer and the colours and brightness all look great to me. I’ll tweak others when I get round to it I’m sure. I’ve seen stuff saying the brightness is average but I’ll be looking to turn it down for office based work. 3K is great. I have a 4K OLED tv – ok I can see a difference but on a smaller screen 3K is perfectly good enough. Running FS2020 and Avengers atm with Ry7/RTX3060 via DP and they look spectacular. I had concerns about getting a VA panel but I’ve picked up no visibility issues whatsoever. Don’t normally write reviews but spent so long agonising over which monitor to go for, thought I would. Curved v Flat, definitely curved. Enjoy.
Have owned the monitor for 3 months as of writing this review.
The stand is awful. The long leg spikes will try to go under your mouse matt unless you angle them just right (which you will need to do to stop your mouse bumping into them in the heat of battleXD). And the OSD buttons are a clown show, but the part that counts is…
Frankly I can’t imagine any 240Hz monitor being faster or clearer for fps gaming. Even TN panels. I also can’t imagine the LMB on the 240Hz Zowies being any better for fps. I’m not an expert and have upgraded to this from a 144Hz TN panel, so my experience with various monitors is modest to say the least. But I am very good at fps games and play competitively. To my mind this is as good as a 240Hz gaming monitor can/needs to be. And being an IPS panel, movies/media looks really good too.
As far as someone commenting that it doesn’t come with a USB to USB B cable so you can’t connect the monitors USB HUB to your PC…I honestly can’t remember whether I got that cable in the box or whether I’m using the spare I had lying around. However the USB hub is super useful and the fast charge USB really is faster than PC USB charging. The speakers are there just for convenience, not for any serious listening, but they are there, unlike similar monitors from other manufacturers at higher prices.
Simply put: if the stand was a classic square/round unobtrusive foot and the monitor had a nipple at the back instead of the worst bottom mounted OSD buttons ever (though the OSD software provided by AOC does the job just fine) in my opinion this would probably be the best price/performance competitive gaming monitor in the world by a country mile.
As it stands, it is still deserving of that title, only (at least for me) not quite so emphatically…
EDIT;
In March 2022 I’ve had to RMA the monitor because it started developing a blurry picture when in BIOS of my motherboard and it had weird white trailing on the AOC logo even when not connected to any display output. The RMA process is done through Amazon for the first 2 years of the warranty and was frankly as easy as an RMA as I could imagine (by the way you get 3 years warranty in total, I think, but didn’t confirm that). The replacement monitor works fine so far.
Does this incident make me reconsider the 5 star review I gave the monitor originally? Not really, but there are caveats.
Firstly, the complaints I had with the original monitor regarding the menu buttons don’t apply to the replacement. The new buttons are a lot less stiff and thus infinitely more usable and no longer a nuisance. It didn’t occur to me at the time that this was the real issue with the original buttons, I thought they were a pain to use because of their placement. Anyway, that’s certainly a plus.
Secondly, it’s also worth noting that the replacement/perhaps new? monitor (and I mean new as in they changed some things, not as in “it was new in the box”, which of course it was, I wouldn’t have accepted a “refurbished”/used replacement) is noticeably heavier. I didn’t have scales at hand to weigh them both before I sent the old one back, but me and a few other friends could feel the difference just lifting it up, it was obvious to the average human touch. Makes me think they put in a more substantial PSU inside compared to the old version…this is the only reason I can think of for such a weight difference. From that I could make a whole bunch of other speculations, but don’t want to do that in a review. I’ll just say that for your consideration the original faulty monitor was made in 05/21 and the replacement was made in 09/21.
Having said all that I still feel a 5 star review is justified because I accept that a small percentage of faults will happen on mass produced products, that is a fact. In this case perhaps I just happen to be the unlucky one that got hit. I certainly don’t have evidence to the contrary at the moment. Also, considering they made the RMA process so effortless I wasn’t particularly inconvenienced.
However I hope the replacement will hold up because if it doesn’t, then I will certainly be changing the nature and rating of my review.
Honestly couldn’t recommend a better monitor or gaming, this monitor is absolutely amazing.
If you’re considering buying and looking for a review that makes you buy it let it be this one, it’s amazing for both console and pc gaming
Colours are not so great out of box for macbook pro but are good for windows laptop. Gaming was nice on this screen.
Preis-Leistung stimmt hier. Kein berteuerter durch geschicktes Marketing gepushter Wackel-Dackel. Klare Kaufempfehlung!
This monitor is excellent. I don’t think there is another that can compete at this price point for gaming. The 144hz is the highlight allowing you to play games at 144fps if you computer supports it. It also supports Nvidia G-Sync for smooth gaming with no tearing or dropped frames. Basically super smooth gameplay.
The image quality is very good with good range of colours, very sharp images and detail and depth in the blacks. Looks great for movies, games, reading and coding. The 2k / 1440p resolution is perfect for this size screen.
The stand is excellent allowing height and tilt adjustment. It even supports mounting in portrait mode.
I have since replaced this with a desk arm (it supports VESA mount) to hold 2 screens to free up desk space and to have them aligned without books propping up my second screen.
Note it comes with a Displayport cable and HDMI. To get the most from this monitor definitely use the DP cable and if you only have a mini display port get a mini-dp to dp cable. The HDMI cable is only capable of about 60hz at 2k and 120hz at 1080p. DP cable can get you full 144hz at 2k.
Originally I did not intend to buy this particular display but instead was looking to purchase the smaller 24″ version. However the 24G2U/BK model seemed to be out of stock with just about every supplier I checked at the time (Amazon included) and, as I was keen to get my new-build PC up and running, decided on this model. It seemed to make sense given the excellent Amazon price at the time (with free Prime delivery), the largely favourable reviews and the fact that I was getting a larger screen for relatively little extra cost.
Well I’m happy to say that deciding on this display was one of the best purchasing decisions I have made for quite a while. Now anyone with any common sense would not expect a monitor that cost around the 200 mark to be on equal footing with a monitor costing 300 or more. HOWEVER I can assure you that this monitor punches well above it’s price point.
Firstly the overall build quality is excellent. The screen unit it’s self is of a robust & high quality standard, certainly far from the cheap and ‘plasticky’ unit I was expecting. Likewise the stand is sturdy, substantial, well made and perfectly stable, more so than some of the stands I have seen supplied with other well respected monitor brands. The mount is a doddle to fit to the screen and provides enough height and tilt adjustment for any type of use, and in addition the mount provides for full 180 degree pivot should you need it. Included with my monitor was a European 2-pin power lead, a 3-pin UK power lead, a Display Port lead and a HDMI lead. These are all of good quality and is a great touch that I think shows good customer consideration.
When it comes to the all important question of picture quality this monitor certainly doesn’t fail to deliver excellent results which go way beyond what I expected for the price. The colours are rich and accurate, blacks deep & uniform and the whites crisp and clean with no hint of colour cast or muddiness. The contrast ratio is likewise excellent and, in combination with the high scan frequencies, produce a beautifully steady image that has punch and vitality. Finally being an IPS screen the viewing angle and colour rendition is a big improvement over my admittedly rather old TN display. Naturally there is always a bit of tweaking to carry out whenever a display is connected for the first time but with the unit I purchased this amounted to no more than a slight alteration to the brightness and contrast to get a truly beautiful quality image. An unexpected bonus was the fact that this monitor is Nvidia G-Sync compatible which my Nvidia graphics card recognised and configured as soon as it was connected.
Aesthetically I think that the whole unit is very pleasing to the eye. The red accents to the stand and screen look good without being garishly over the top and the incredibly thin (about 1mm) top and side bezel gives the screen a clean and elegant appearance. When the screen is up and running there is a very slight black border to the top and sides of the screen but this is only about 4mm wide so even when running the screen keeps it’s sleek spacious look. I was also happy to note that the size of the black border does not vary with the scan frequency. With some cheaper monitors I have seen the black border increase in size quite noticeably as the scan frequency is raised, but this is not he case with this monitor.
I was surprised to see that one of the reviews written here has given this display a bit of a slating but, based on my own experience, I have to disagree. One complaint was that there was a strong red colour cast that could not be tuned out and another that the scan frequency would keep dropping back to a lower setting. I have my monitor connected to a Nvidia GTX1660 Super via the Display Port input and can honestly say that I have experienced neither of these problems whatsoever, whether I’m gaming (though I’m only a casual gamer), or whether I’m using productivity software and the like.
Another complaint (in the same review) was that the monitor disconnects it’s self when switched off but again I have found this not to be the case with my purchase. I can switch off my monitor and it remains fully connected and synced to my PC as expected, there are no problems with remote connecting and any items connected to the very useful USB hub on the back of the monitor remain connected and fully functional. I can only guess that the reviewer was unlucky enough to receive a faulty unit which sounds like it should be returned for replacement or refund.
While on the subject of faults I’m glad to report that my display has no dead or stuck pixels and shows no light or dark patches or uneven brightness or colouration which can sometimes be a bit of an issue with less expensive monitors, particularly those with 27″ screens.
Now not everything in the garden is rosy and I do have a couple of criticisms but these are pretty minor and certainly not deal breakers. One is that the speakers are pretty under- whelming, something which is pretty much standard for slim-line monitors and TVs these days. For general use I have the sound coming out of the monitor via the DP port and have to say that the quality is pretty poor and is definitely on the quiet side. I would say that it’s fine for the burbles and tinkles Windows produces and for listening to the odd video stream but for anything else I find the speakers very much lacking. However, as most users will undoubtedly have speaker and/or headphone set-ups anyway I don’t see this as a big problem.
Secondly the on/off and function buttons at the bottom of the screen are small and very low profile which I find makes them fiddly to use. This is not helped by the fact that the legends for these buttons are merely engraved into the lower bezel which makes things very difficult to see. Ideally I would have liked to have seen slightly larger and higher profile buttons and to have some degree of infill to the button legends to make things less fiddly and more visible. But this is probably just me being a bit nit-picky as by now I have got pretty used to using them.
In summary I would say that overall this really is an excellent full HD monitor that represents incredible value for money, indeed, based on my own experience so far I would still be just as happy had I paid a fair amount more. I have only had my monitor for a little over a month so cannot comment on long term reliability. However I have used it pretty heavily during this time and, so far, things have been fine, hopefully this will remain the case over time. Naturally if things do take a turn for the worse then I shall update my review and rating accordingly but for now I’m more than happy to give this terrific monitor a definite 5 star rating. Would I recommend this monitor to other’s considering a purchase ? Absolutely !!
Best regards
Ade.
