Reall;y decent piece of kit. I had to tuen it down due to the brightness hurting my eyes. I dont need more that 60hz in 4k. Paired with a decent GPU it really brings my games to life in 4k!
I use this primarily for developing code. It’s a wonderful monitor. Extremely clear and detailed at the same time as being very soft on the eye and low stress to use. A wonderful addition (I use it with an M1 MacBook Pro)
Also 4k video presents very good clarity, with or without HDR.
Setup controls are easy to use. Monitor angle and height manipulation is very easy.
Great for gaming and movies. I also use for software development. The speaker is average but that’s to be expected. Highly recommended.
You can easily adjust the height and turn it around. The look and settings are great too. The colours are also absolutely sharp with contrast. What’s important is that it’s a 4K monitor, which for this price and quality is a very good buy. The refresh rate could be a little more at say 75hz, but it’s still ok. It has a nice look. I recommend this produc
I got this monitor on prime day as I wanted something for eSport gaming. This monitor is absolutely brilliant for the price. Sure the build quality is not as nice as my alien wear monitor, but the screen has a 280hz refresh rate and is an IPS panel. You really cant go wrong with monitor especially if you mount it. Great silky smooth panel!!!
Great value. I just wish it was a bit easier to toggle between inputs. having to reach behind the screen and use the joystick to swap input devices gets rather annoying…
If you don’t use this screen on multiple devices then the above is a moot point.
The ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM gaming monitor is a great choice for gamers who want a fast and responsive IPS display. With a refresh rate of 280Hz, this monitor provides smooth and responsive gameplay. Additionally, the G-SYNC compatibility ensures that your graphics are rendered smoothly and accurately. This monitor also supports DisplayHDR 400, providing you with great image quality. Lastly, the Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync technology reduces motion blur and makes your gaming experience more immersive. Overall, the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM gaming monitor is a great choice for gamers who want a fast and responsive IPS display
Good crisp clean image the works well for both work, video and gaming applications.
I got this for use on my Xbox Series X, it works great! Such a high quality, sheek design, easily wall mountable.
My only niggle is that when im using Netflix (via Xbox) it seems darker than usual. Picture is still visible but you can see the difference.
A great monitor overall but there was a dead pixel on it literally not even a month after I have bought it. I’m not sure when it appeared but it’s been a while
Excellent picture quality, perfect size. Perfect for my ps4 pro , good for next gen consoles if you don’t mind 60 Hz maximum refresh rate. I’m really happy with this monitor. Great job ASUS.
concerned I’d miss the extra screen size. Needn’t have worried though – hardly noticeable if I’m honest and more than made up for by the increase in resolution. Bright and vibrant with hugely improved colours on my last screen, no hints of ghosting or blur, and fine on angles. Rich, deep blacks and darks particularly obvious. GPU (2070 super) runs new games on this at 4K on mainly ultra settings (game issues aside CP 2077 at least look stunning). Set up simple enough, and construction has a solid enough feel though betraying its (relatively) low price a little (to be expected). TUF cosmetics give it a cool vibe visually. Highly recommended overall at the price.
Excellent delivery time. Screen is actually perfect, no dead pixels at all. Overclocks to 280hz easily and no issues at all over the weeks I’ve been running it. I had a 165hz TN ASUS monitor before this one has the imagine quality on this new IPS panel is night and daythe colours are amazing. This monitor is completely worth the price. It performs well for FPS comp titles as well as looks amazing for story games with more demanding graphics.
Brilliant for video and photo editing. Not the best of the market for gaming as it tops out at 60hz and isn’t true HDR but for the price point verses models that do have those features it’s about a quarter of the price, plus unless you’re a die hard online gamer the higher refresh rate is just splitting hairs. The picture itself is extremely sharp with RGB mode which is great for editing photo and video with some accuracy.
Real happy with it, menu system is really intuitive and extensive. Image is great, could be better if I had the hardware to back it ^^
Would recommend good headphones and/or speakers. It has some built-in but not that powerful (not that it was ever a selling point for me)
First off this product is great and I now have 2 of them due to Amazon not picking up either for return but I am glad it turned out that way as these monitors are worth the hassle.
That said this monitor is not a true G-Sync monitor, the advert says G-Sync the description says Free-Sync/Adaptive-Sync the box and monitor say Free-Sync and G-Sync compatible.
I believe this a a G-Sync compatible monitor (adaptive free-sync) and the Amazon description is a little misleading..
I’ve only had a few hours to play with this monitor so far. I’ve just changed from a 1440p144hz 27″ monitor to this beauty, the graphics still look great on 1080p, and my god, 144hz to 280hz is definitely noticable. I wouldn’t say the jump is as crazy as 60hz to 144hz, however, I can definitely feel this refresh rate, it’s incredible how nice and smooth my games are!
I can see through space and time, my opponents don’t stand a chance. 🙂
The peak brightness is fine… 350 nits compared to 400 nits is no difference at all. Don’t let the fact that it’s not quite HDR400 bother you, you aren’t missing anything. The HDR quality is quite a cinematic upgrade from SDR video.
The speakers are awful… but nobody uses monitor speakers in 2020. There’s no such thing as good monitor speakers. A monitor with good speakers is called a TV set by my account.
It can display the gaming crosshairs and all that gamer’s mumbo jumbo, but more importantly it has more comfortable menu overlay. And the joystick makes it easy to navigate.
You can adjust brightness and blue light modes and change HDR mode. You can even choose to confine the colour gamut to range of sRGB, where it would approximate the colour space of 100% sRGB (but I don’t know why you would choose to see less colour).
For the price of 350 (which is what I paid), you really can’t beat this monitor as of March 2020. It rotates so you can have the screen vertically aligned. By swivelling it vertically, you can have a phone-like orientation so you can view lists and the length of a word document in 4K. If you have a better monitor than this, then this feature would be good for you. The monitor stand also lets you adjust the height… and I can tell you that the screen moves up pretty high and down pretty low. And you can adjust the angle so that you don’t have to crane your neck or turn your head. The monitor can face you without having to move the stand.
In order to make the most of this monitor, you will need to have an iGPU equalling or bettering the Intel HD 620 series. In terms of dedicated GPUs, I’d recommend the Nvidia GT 1030. For 4K movies running on Windows, an iGPU may struggle with codec and take a massive toll on system performance. A dedicated GPU (recommending the GT 1030) capable of displaying 4K at 60Hz over DisplayPort will be able to run high resolution and frame rate videos without stuttering or lack of responsiveness.
For consoles, I would also say that a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X will make the more of this monitor in YouTube, Netflix and Blu-Ray (provided your internet connection speed is about 3MB/s or faster, and that you actually put a 4K Blu-Ray disc into the Blu-Ray drive).
Other than that… gud monitor, little $.
Hi guys, i was very sceptical about ordering this monitor because a majority of people moan about TN panels lack colour and viewing angles, but to be completely honest this monitor looks amazing and lets be real which person is gonna buy a gaming monitor to look at it in a side or upward angle. ( dont listen to all those reviews ) I recently had the MSI MAG CQR ( 27inch 1440p 144hz ) and yes it looks amazing but had terrible ghosting so i returned it and ordered this one and so far it has not disapointed me in picture quality and colours, and i havent even noticed the difference when it comes to raw picture quality even though people say VA panels are better for quality and colours. I was really hesitant between this VG27BQ and the BENQ ZOWIE, and im happy with my decision 144hz ( can be overclocked to 165 ) and 1440p is just the sweet spot for pc gaming atm. I highly recommend this monito
