This camera’s firmware and software will not run on MacOs lower than 10.15. I don’t seem to find an older version of the software that actually works on 10.13 High Sierra. When I did it gave the same error message that it works on “only 10.15” or higher.
Also eine Kamera fr moderne Rechner.
I was absolutely blown away by the quality of this webcam. I was hesitant to purchase after reading reviews that it struggles in low light, but I usually do video calls at night with just a couple of lamps on in my room and the picture quality and brightness is still amazing. I’m beyond happy with it and impressed. It’s also VERY zoomed out, with the option of zooming in, so if you want a lot of background and control over how much of your surroundings are in the frame, this is definitely the webcam for you!
This camera is probably the next best thing after my 800$ DSLR setup. For a good picture quality be ready to setup bright lights and also be ready to spend quite a while in the settings. Probably closer to a DSLR whwn it comes to complexity of setup but the camera quality is worth it.
Yo will need to install top class studio lighting to get the best picture quality with this camera
This AVerMedia PW313D DualCam is amazing! Whilst I am not a qualified music teacher, I have been able to use this camera with my music recording set up to show my friend how to use a midi-controller keyboard and software with the downward-facing camera, and still be able to show him my face whilst using the more traditional forward-facing camera.
When I first placed the order for review at the beginning of December 2021, the price was listed as 142.30, but at the time of review, the price has come down to 139.99. But the quality of this camera is amazing. I have reviewed plenty of cameras on Amazon, but this is the first dual-cam that I have reviewed.
Is it worth the money, yes, I believe it is? For a start, the camera comes in good quality protective packaging, without being excessive. It is lightweight but doesn’t feel flimsy. Connecting it to my iMac (2018) was straightforward. I have used this with both Zoom and Microsoft Teams (both installed on my Mac), and the picture quality is superb and so too is the sound in the built-in microphone. The autofocus is very quick to focus and stays stable.
The tripod is a bit plasticy feeling, and it is a shame it isn’t better quality considering the quality of the camera itself, but this is only a minor issue, as the tripod works absolutely fine. It also is verging on the slightly expensive side, but these two issues are relatively minor in the grand schemes of things, and therefore I can still highly recommend this to you.
This is an excellent piece of camera hardware and software, the camera itself looks great and has equal functionality either balanced on the top of a monitor or used in conjunction with the tripod stand (supplied with camera).
It impresses me as being durable, tough enough to withstand any accidential knock in the home office and the stability of the camera when balanced on the monitor or positioned on the tripod is good to great.
There are dual cameras, two cams, built in shades, they rotate to the desired angle and this permits one being directed downward to documents permitting an option for sharing besides scanning, e-mailing, share screen or these type of actions.
This is the only possible criticism or draw back that I could possibly mention, there is no physical switch on the camera itself for convenience to swap between each cam etc. not a deal breaker by any extent and its easy enough to use the software for doing so.
The camera is complete with drivers (which as another reviewer has stated may not install on some shared computer terminals or hardware), when fully installed the camera works great, focus, contrast, colour etc. are all what you would hope or expect (I have used it with compatible social media, IM and Zoom platforms).
Definitely better than a built in piece of hardware, that much I would actually expect from a dedicated piece of hardware, this is better than other cameras that I have reviewed and used. The dual camera feature is one I find to be unique to this device and puts it over the line for me as a superior product to its rivals. Pleased with this product, have had a good experience and have no hesitation recommending it to others. On the strength of my experience with this product I think I would consider others produced by this supplier.
Like a lot of other people I moved from a office to home working at the beginning of the pandemic- moving from seeing people face-to-face to zoom/teams. My work laptop does have an inbuilt camera, but I’ve never really rated the quality- so was more than thrilled to try this one out. I have to say I am impressed.
I really despise setting up technology, so I asked my brother in law to do this for me. He said it wasn’t complicated to do and didn’t take him long at all.
You have the choice of setting this on top of the laptop or on the tripod- I personally prefer on the laptop, but I think it’s really nice you get a choice.
It’s a duel camera for one side Webcam and the other for sharing documents ect. I personally only use the webcam side as I share screen when I’m in meetings so I can’t really comment on this side of the camera. But the webcam side is excellent. Quality far surpasses what was inbuilt on my laptop.
Item itself appears very well made and has a ‘quality’ look to it which makes me hopefully for durability. And with its small size, it’s highly portable for the odd days that I do go to the office but still have to be on meetings.
Lots of little extra features that come with this, ones I still haven’t tried out yet, which is where the justification for its price tag comes from (in my opinion anyway).
Overall I’ve been very thrilled with this so far. Certainly an investment for anyone that works from home/does international meetings ect. Happy to recommend.
I was excited to get the, however, figuring out how to install and use it’s supposedly amazing software is glitchy, difficult and exceedingly difficult to manage. The customer service is slow and provides only videos and written instructions that are impossibly difficult to see. I am relatively computer and tech literate and I bought this for my new M1 MacMini, but it continues to give me fits.
This WebCam looks smart and has a feel of quality about it.
The design is well thought out, even down to the decent length of cable which ensures there are no tight or pulling connections which are prone to stress and disconnecting.
The tripod is handy to give you a choice of positions for the camera but it can easily be attached to your monitor or laptop too, it’s always nice to have a choice.
The two cameras allow you to use it as a standard WebCam and to showcase other images, it’s like a kind of flipchart presentation camera as well as a standard person/ pc user camera if you will.
The cameras both have good picture quality even when moving and the sound is okay not fabulous but definitely more than possible.
Because privacy matters there is a sliding cover for each camera to ensure that no eyes are watching you and you don’t want them to, essential for using cameras at home.
All in all this is a decent camera and a good piece of kit for those working from home.
Mrs Wolf gave this Web Cam a test drive in her home office.
The picture quality is very, very much better than her laptop’s
integrated camera; there’s no comparison in fact. You get two
cams for your money here too : one for face capture and a
second for zoning-in on documents or other artefacts should
you wish. Mrs W. thinks she is less likely to use this function but
says it’s handy to know that it’s there should the occasion arise.
It was easy to set up. There’s a dinky little tripod included if
that’s your thing but my best-beloved had mounted it on the
open top edge of her HP Omen laptop and it fits just fine.
I have witnessed a full demonstration of its zoom capabilities and
both agree that it is, indeed, a well-designed and handy piece of kit.
We Like It.
The Avermedia Auto Focus document and webcam is an interesting alternative to the Ipevo document camera i have attached to my computer. It comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable – and I couldn’t get it to work on a dedicated USB-C cable it only worked on this cable. The webcam is about 10cm wide; it comes with a nice adjustable tripod; but i used the mount to rest it on the top of my monitor.
The dual camera design is very clever; there are two cameras – with built in shades, that you can rotate to get to the right angle for their use – i have one camera setup for web chats and another pointing down at my desktop for sharing documents /diagrams which is handy on calls. Even from the top of my monitor the camera adjusts its field of view and focusses nicely on the paper on my desk (you can zoom in the view in windows using the standard web cam config panel – it isnt like the Anker cam i have that has a zoom / tracking feature.
I wasn’t able to install the cameras drivers on my work computer but the camera works ok as it stands; you just have to operate it manually. It isn’t as easy as it could be; in teams you have to go back into settings to change the camera view between the left and right cameras. The cameras show as Left and Right n teams when you switch them. The currently active camera has a tally light so you know which one is running. Its a shame there isn’t a button on the device to switch the camera; working in development being able to draw flow diagrams or UI diagrams and discuss with the team is very useful – and my ipevo camera gets good use for that purpose.
The image quality is good even without dedicated drivers; the resolution is good in teams and that makes sharing documents a breeze as the detail is shown. Out of the box the cameras made me look a little yellow under artificial light, though again adjusting the hue setting in the windows settings fixed this for me. I am assuming this is something that the cameras native drivers would help with.
As a webcam it works just great; if you are looking for a document camera this is a nice alternative to an ipevo cam as you can fix the position and not have to move the camera around between document and webcam all the time. That makes it excellent; i’m hoping that there is a version 2 coming that adds a button to switch the cameras rather than doing it in software.
FUIR ABSOLUMENT!
// EDIT
After seeing the quality of the camera on a live stream i decided to go for it. I’ve bought several cheap webcams over the years and they never last. The first thing you notice about this camera is the weight and build qulaity. My graphics card isn’t fully up to the power of delivering the 4K output, however at 1080p 30fps its great quality and very smooth. I also don’t look like a ghost now, however the backgrounds on teams are a little bit jittery, this could be due to my graphics card/lighting.
Great quality during the day but struggles a lot in low light.
Software need updating: ODBS and you have a media streaming machine. The next level up would be and SDLR rig. Great product overall
S’installe trs. Rapidement.
Item works flawlessly.Changed the usb type c cable with another because included was a bit short. It gets hot but that dose not creates problems.Perfect for live stream and suoer smooth 1080p 60. Only works on usb 3.0 ans above. Also in order to have the best results you need a good amount of light in front of you. Expensive but it worths it.
This webcam is great once you have the right amount of lighting. If the lighting is dim the image becomes grainy,
so beware. The software to adjust the cam’s functions is intuitive. It helps if you watch the YouTube tutorial to get to understand the equipment and software. Remember to update the firmware and use a USB3 port for this cam.
I know this webcam is not cheap but offer really great picture quality but… Be sure You will provide decent lighting conditions, update software to latest and make few tweaks in a cam engine after all. Many people made a bad reviews before and myself was also very sceptical about quality of this webcam but after I met the requirements as I mention before all looks great for me.I use to have Logitech C920 and this camera is massive upgrade.Poor lighting will result that you will get horrible picture quality with a big graininess.Camera needed some work but after I’m very happy with picture quality.Lastly make sure camera is connected to usb 3.0 or higher.
1) Installate i driver aggiornati sul sito ufficiale AverMedia;
2) Installate firmware e CamEngine, sempre dal sito ufficiale;
3) Tenete aperta l’app CamEngine durante l’utilizzo della webcam;
With the amount of Zoom meeting and video calls that have been taking place overt the past year or so, the desire to have a better webcam is something that many people have felt.
This once certainly isn’t cheap, but it is a good piece of kit. I am far from being a particularly technical minded person and even I found this incredibly simple to set up and use. The picture quality is impressive. If, like me, you have only ever used the computer’s built-in camera before, then you are in for an eye-opening treat with picture quality you get with this one!
Also – in these days when you hear the worrying stories about webcams being hacked and someone, somewhere being able to observe your every move via your webcam – it is pleasantly reassuring to the sliding privacy shutter on the camera lens.
So, this is not a cheap webcam, but if you are in the market for one and you have the cash to spare, then it could be the right one for you.
I hope you find these insights helpful.
One of the the problems with webcams, post Covid, is there are so many of them, and most of them are REALLY bad quality, claiming to be 4k (at 5FPS) and other such nonsense.
It’s really nice to find one that doesn’t fall into that category. This actually quite a decent webcam. It’s wide-angle, and I mean REALLY wide, and it ticks all the boxed I would expect a premium camera to tick: It delivers a solid FHD picture at 30FPS, with decent clarity, good low light performance, stereo mics that pick up well, online LED, privacy slider, flexible monitor mount, and tripod mount.
All good so far, but then we get to the price, over a hundred quid currently. Now I already have a Logitech C920, which I consider to be THE benchmark for premium webcams. It’s so good, it’s often out of stock. This is around 30 more. I feel this doesn’t add anything other than the really wide angle lens, if anything, the quality is not quite on-par with the C920 (but it’s close).
In short, if you are looking for the wide-angle, and need to go really wide, for example team meetings, or family conferences, whilst still delivering good quality, this is a great choice. If you don’t need the wide-angle, then you might want to look at alternatives.
This is a well presented camera that gives OK results in terms of picture clarity and sound pick up. If it was about a third of the price I would have no problem in recommending it. But at over a hundred quid I am expecting at least 2K and auto focus and this is ‘only’ 1080p and fixed focus. That said it was smooth in terms of use – so maybe less bandwidth is an advantage. I found the FOV to be rather too wide for my individual use, I think this would be better for family or team situations where you want more people in frame. However that then shows up the limitation of the mic – which is fine for about a 3-4 feet, but struggles beyond that. I use a seperate lapel mic for personal and a table mic for larger teams leetings – so that will not be a problem for me – but as a one stop solution – this again falls short of the price tag.
I use the camera for phone conferences in my home office and was searching long time for a camara that does not alwais loose focus when I move and can handle the lighting in my room well + and many miss that has a GOOD SOUND QUALITY !
Especially on sound and focus I was not happy with Logitech cams I had before. And after a lot of research and some tests found this Cammera from AVer and I’m very satisfied with it. Main downside is the money spend but looking at thinks like the Brio etc. it is not completelly out of range.
AverMedia Live Streamer CAM 513 is the best webcam someone can buy for reasonable price. Video and picture quality and microphones quality all are excellent. The “negatives” are: 1) needs>=500 lux of light @5300K for excellent image (can work and lower with good quality), 2) The image is better at 30 fps, 3) needs latest hardware (CPU and GPU) for excellent results (Tested using RTX2080Ti, Intel i9-7940X and 64GB memory with excellent results).
