Quiet Operation
A highly optimised impeller achieves the silent operation be quiet! is famous for. With a noise level of 31dB(A) at maximum fan speed, it proves that instead of being a replacement the lighting is an addon to silent and very powerful operation. All features combine to make Light Wings 140mm PWM high-speed the fan of choice for silent show cases and gaming systems alike.
Variable Fan Speed Function
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) allows compatible 4-pin controllers, including those built into many motherboards, to intelligently vary the speed and thus the noise level of the fan. With PWM the system can ramp up the cooling when it’s needed, or operate in maximum quiet mode when it’s not.

Not sure what else to say about these, they’re not silent that is for sure, but they are very quiet and they certainly help maintain a good airflow withing my case.
The RGB lighting works a treat, mine are attached directly to headers withing my case that link back directly to the motherboard jumper so are instantly controllable by both physical button on the case, or via the mothertboard software.
Not sure if I have a faulty pack of 3, unlikely, but I’ve no idea how they managed to get 32db at full speed(~2200rpm).
Measuring from 30cm away using a phone, so not even that sensitive, at full speed ~2100rpm these chaps blast away at a nice 39/40db. Which is very audible.
Between 0% and 45% they are silent and cannot be heard over background noise/other system noises
Between 45% and 50% the motors start to harmonize. and thrum together. The motors become audible.
Between 50% and 100%, they are most noticeably audible and the harmonized thrumming gets higher and higher pitched.
Thankfully, they move more than enough air at <50% speed.
The ARGB is lovely. Not too bright but subtle and elegant. I do like a ring over a hub though. They work with my motherboard's RGBFusion bloatware and pretty well with SignalRGB. I believe they work with any RGB software, which is rare on highend, calling these highend due to price, argb fans these days.
Immediately on picking up the box these fans felt good. Surprisingly heavy in the hand and then upon opening up the box I was happy to see an included RGB hub. Each fan is nicely packaged in its own cardboard sleeve and they feel extremely well made. These don’t feel like e-waste tier flimsy fans you might find in a cheap case, they’re obviously designed to last and work to a good standard throughout their lifespan.
A niggle however is in the setting up of the RGB. Annoyingly, the fans will not light up unless they are plugged into the hub which also needs to be plugged into a 5v argb header on your motherboard. If you don’t have one of these headers or its in use by something else then the RGB simply doesn’t work. It’d be good if the RGB worked without the need to do this even if it wasn’t synced up with other lights in your system, I’ve had fans in the past that were able to do this so I don’t see why they can’t do this.
Again it might not be a big deal for most users but in my case, my Corsair hub for my AIO was using the argb header which wasn’t compatible with the connector’s on these fans so it caused some problems. It’s just something to be aware of if you’re in a similar position.
In terms of performance they’re great, I wish it was made clearer which version of the fans you were buying though, I ended up with the high speed ones which is fine but if you’re after the quietest system, you need to get the non high speed ones which isn’t made immediately obvious from the box.
Anyway, those niggles aside, these are a great product that feel very high quality for the price.
I absolutely love these. Having been in the PC gaming community for a very long time now, I’d heard and seen so much about Be Quiet, but never actually owned anything from them until recently when I decided to a small upgrade. Well lets just say, their reputation as one of the strongest in the game is fairly earned!
I wanted something that had that RGB flair but also looked quite smart and stealthy, while delivering incredibly performance, and that’s exactly what I got! But don’t be fooled, these things are really bright and the colour scope is amazing. The performance is amazing, the build quality is amazing. The fans are awesome. (I have both these and the 120mm versions, both are high speed, and both are just as awesome.)
