This speaker is just fine for me it is a bit heavy on the bass but that’s not a bad thing for some people ask my neighbour! Lol it easily fills my room with sound . For such a small speaker it’s loud once connected to Alexa it’s responsive the belkin app is pretty much useless for anything other than connection and there’s no bass treble controls or eq settings which would be nice but got this on offer so happy with it.
Bass and sound quality is incredible. Airplay works well.
Alexa functions work relatively well but is not a true echo dot substitute – eg it can’t discover new smart devices like an an echo dot. You still need one of those to add smart bulbs with the Alexa app
I got this Belkin SoundForm Elite Hi-Fi Smart Speaker to have in our kitchen and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed.
The speaker itself is sleek and stylish, fitting in perfectly with my modern home decor. But it’s not just the look of the speaker that impressed me – the sound quality is absolutely top-notch.
The Devialet Acoustics technology used in the speaker really shines through, delivering clear and crisp audio that fills the room. The bass is deep and impactful without being overwhelming, and the highs are clean and detailed.
I’ve been using the speaker to play a variety of music genres and it has handled everything I’ve thrown at it with ease.
The fact that the speaker also functions as a wireless charger is a huge bonus. I can charge my phone just by setting it on top of the speaker, which is very convenient when I’m cooking or just wondering around the kitchen.
The integration with Alexa is seamless – I can use voice commands to control my music and ask for information without having to pull out my phone.
Overall, I am extremely happy with the Belkin SoundForm Elite Hi-Fi Smart Speaker. It’s a high-quality speaker with excellent sound and a number of convenient features that make it a great choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home audio setup.
Beautiful design! And I love the wireless charger!!! Amazing product definitely I will recommended
Sounds powerful for a small speaker- bought it as a Xmas prezzie for my son. The fact that you can have the phone on charge while using the speakers is an added bonus for me. Overall, really please with my purchase.
Loved the sound and Alexa function. Makes automation in my home a lot bette
Awesome sound pity about the charging compatibility! Samsung z3 flip owners it just won’t butty!
Wasn’t easy to set up, did take several attempts but once done, does the job, bought for teenagers bedroom and she’s happy with i
Very good investment, good quality of sound and fast charging as well
Great sound. Good Amazon deal. Better than some that cost a lot more money.
Great speaker overall but sound glitches out even when very close to it. Don’t know why it does this.
I work from home and wanted a desk top smart speaker and I am so glad I did my homework – this unit is superb and way beyond my expectations, the sound is super rich (I listen to audio books) with superb base levels. Music wise its very crisp with no distortion at all. I could not be happier.
As a standalone speaker I would give this five stars, I’d read the reviews before and I don’t care about the massive plug, its actually the annoying on sound/bleep when it powers on and the ping when Alexa responds that is annoying to me (see video). Alexa lacks features and answers are pretty limited. However, as a speaker to play my amazon music its fabulous, I haven’t even had it on full volume, its super loud and undistorted. I just love it!
Works good have it by my bed listen to music to fall asleep and keeps the phone charged
Really enjoy using this. Not sure I would get on well with it but easy to use. Still learning all the things it can do. Bought it on a special Amazon deal so even more pleased.
I like the round modern design of this speaker. It looks good on display and I have had many compliments. It plays music easily from my phone and charges your phone whilst you’re listening to the music, which is a bonus. I was expecting the sound quality to be a little better for the price, but it still sounds good and I am happy to listen to my music on it.
The Belkin SoundForm Elite Hi-Fi Smart Speaker is an absolute beauty! But don’t let it’s beauty full you! There is a beast at the heart of this small smart speaker! The sound quality is stunningly powerful and crystal clear. The push-push dual woofer design effectively cancels out vibration. As a result there is absolutely no physical vibration for the speaker or the surface that it sits on. However, if you put your hands beside the speaker you can feel the air pumped out from the subwoofers! Very cool! This technology helps deliver a sound without any vibration noise.
The Alexa setup was straight forward and works well.
There is a button on the speaker that can mute the mictophone for higher privacy which is a handy feature.
The wireless phone charger is capable of fast speed charging.
Cons
The price tag is super expensive. You get a premium product but I still think it’s a little bit expensive. I have seen it go on sale on especial occasions like prieme day so if you buy it then would be nice!
All in all this is an amazing smart speaker! I recommend it.
First of all, this thing is way too expensive. The current price the time I was writing this review is 259.85 I think it doesn’t worth that much. But The number of features what they packed into this speaker, the built quality and the sound quality is great. The size is compact, would perfectly fit onto a bedside cabinet, office desk or in the living room. My one is white coloured and it also available in black. To be honest prefer this white/light grey colour it’s more elegant and modern. The built quality is top notch, has a few very responsive touch buttons to control the volume and the music manually too, there is a mash fabric all around the unit, very similar to the Google mini. The only extra feature what it can’t be fined on any other smart speaker is the wireless charging pad which offers fast charging. The connectivity is sorted with Bluetooth and WIFI. If you planning to use this wired via a 3.5mm jack than this is not for you as it’s not featured with jack socket. Both Bluetooth and WIFI are easy to set up and once it done you can add this speaker to your Google Home app so it can be used for google assistance. It also works with Alexa but I have not tested that feature. At the front of the unit behind the fabric there are four small dots, which indicates if the Google assistant is on, or indicates the level of the sound volume (just like on Google mini). The sound quality is great, in my opinion, but I’m not an expert at all. The unit has two woofers on each side for deep bass. For my small double bedroom is perfect. Ohh, there is also two mic holes on the top of the unit on each side of the touch buttons. With this microphone you can control your smart appliances connected to google home to use it for handsfree phone calls. These microphones are responsive, and relatively good at listening for the trigger phrase even when the music is blasting out at higher volume levels.
Overall, I’m very happy with this Belkin SoundForm Elite Hi-Fi Smart Speaker, apart from the high price is an “instant get” for me I can highly recommend. Belkin’s audio devices are getting closer in quality to the big names like Bose or Sonos.
The product has a nice weight to it and arrived well packaged. When taking a new speaker out of its box, I cant help but reminisce about how listening to music has fundamentally changed over the years. From the larger stacker systems with big square speakers, vinyl, tapes, personal tape and CD players to the advent of MP3 and the age of streaming music to a round speaker, designed to fill the room.
This speaker is revolutionary, a symbol of the modern age. No longer does a music machine fill a corner of the house. when you can have a device that is a lot more powerful that can sit on a shelf of stand on a unit.
The speaker connects quickly via bluetooth and it is easy to use my phone as a dukebox. However, my recommendation is to obtain amazon music subscription, and ask Alexa to play you just about any song you want. I have tried finding the most obscure song, and Alexa has never yet let me down. Using Alexa is also handy because you can listen to internet radio through the speaker also, listening to the footy has never been easier.
The sound is amazing. As you would expect for a piece of kit this expensive, but the quality is undeniable. The shape ensures that the crystal clear sound is projected to all four corner of our living room. The anti vibration feature also works really well when listening to those really deep bassy tunes.
Sadly, I cant comment on the wireless charging as yet, my smart phone doesnt support wireless charging.
The product never ceases to amaze and it has become a central feature in our living room where we use Alexa more and more such as quiz’s, travel updates, and I really like the calendar link up where Alexa rattles off my daily tasks. Its like having a paid assistant.
All in all a tremendous product.
This Bluetooth speaker is definitely worth extra cost. The sound quality is impressive, perfect bass and treble even in maximum volume it’s loud and clear. I am very pleased with the speaker, so I got rid of my LG soundbar, which was taking too much space near the TV.
The build quality is excellent and robust. The design is attractive and very poss, really stand out in my living room.
It was straightforward to set up, and Alexa works perfectly fine. The wireless charger is excellent too, from 10% to full charge takes me just a little bit over to one hour.
Overall, excellent speaker with excellent sound quality, definitely its a number-one in my list.
Belkin Soundform speaker is sublime as a speaker, and looks amazing, I can slot my phone on the top, it charges, and I know where it is!! It really does it all, and for the price I would expect it to. I am a huge fan of Belkin so I knew the quality would be good, what I didn’t expect was the plug, it looks like the predecessor of a normal plug, like you used to have a brick as a mobile phone and now they are sleek and small its like this plug has gone backwards, other plugs are sleek and small, and this is a brick!! It means I can’t use it where I want as there is limited space and it doesn’t fit, but overall, I am very impressed as it looks great in the second location and does an amazing job. My husband had to set it up, as I gave up, so if you struggle to set your phone or other devices up definitely look on line first before set up, as I made it worse, I am rubbish so should have waited but I was like a kid at Christmas when this arrived.
where do I start with the speaker it has so many amazing points. Since receiving the speaker we’ve had so many fun moments with the children playing around changing music listening to stories and even hearing Santa. We also have one in the bedroom which is the white one and that is connected to our downstairs one so if we would like the music to play on both speakers you just need to say play on all devices and you have a house full of music.
So let’s start with setting it up, it was very easy all that needed to be done was to plug-in download the app and enter your Wi-Fi password. Once connected it all connects up to your Amazon account to which you can then use prime music if you remember and Alexa to ask general questions. We even found out that the Alexa app has a Santa applicationWhich tells the children stories sing some songs and funny jokes we have had hours of fun with it. The speaker itself is clear and loud you can ask Alexa to turn it up and down so it can be completely hands-free it also has a mic off option for privacy. The speakers quality is great it seems robust and looks stylish to. How are you if I was to write a downside it would only be that the plug is pretty large so if it’s going behind a unit it does make the unit stick out a little. However if you are looking for a speaker with built in Alexa this is the speaker for you we just love it.
Belkin keep surprising me with their top notch high end products. This time it is the Belkin SoundForm Elite Hi-Fi smart speaker that impressed me with stunning performance, versatility, design, and sound quality.
Design:
In terms of design, this mimics the high-end smart speakers in the market, and probably outweighs many of them in terms of build quality and look. It is heavy in a sturdy way, with a good distribution of weight. The design is minimalist with a retro-like fabric cover which adds a touch of elegance. It merges well with a modern living room and looks like a fancy piece of furniture. The buttons surface is touch sensitive and very responsive to touches. The wireless charging area on the upper area is very stylish and easily accommodates any phone size.
Usage:
In terms of utilization, this can be a Bluetooth speaker, or a smart assistant speaker. I tried it with my computer as a Bluetooth speaker and it functions flawlessly. The connection was established in seconds and I don’t need to reconnect it every time I launch my computer. As a smart speaker it functions as flawlessly as Alexa smart speakers. It picks voice from long distances and delivers almost 100% accuracy with commands. Linking this to Alexa was pretty straightforward, I just needed to follow the instructions on the Belkin app and then linked that to Alexa. It also functions as a wireless charger, it deliver convenient charging speeds and makes the overall charging process very hussle-free.
Performance:
Performance doesn’t need praising as it speaks for itself. Sound quality is impeccable. It showcases the attention given to sound by Belkin and the results are evident straight from the very first usage. Volume levels can go very high, with the same standard maintained. I didn’t experience any sound distortion or annoying vibrations at high volumes. The sound is very clear and slightly adjusts depending on the type of sound streaming.
This is a high-end product with stunning design and second-to-none performance.
In terms of Audio Quality, this Belkin SoundForm Elite Hi-Fi speaker is class and by far one of the best I have tried. You can hear every small detail in every track you play, which would’ve been hidden by other speakers. This is thanks to the Hi-Fi audio and SAM Technology by Devialets that rather than flattening the audio, enchances every layer of the audio/track. My favourite songs just got even better and it’s mind blowing the difference a quality speaker can make!
Im a huge fan of the aesthetics of the speaker. The white (high end) plastic build accompanies the graphite grey webbed cloth fabric beautifully and adds a modern and sleek touch to my room. It’s mind blowing that the speaker is already reasonably loud at the lowest settings. I look forward to the days I’ll start throwing parties again so I can put this bad boy speaker on max volume. My neighbours will probably start banging down my door though .
As for connectivity, there’s a little let down. First and foremost, it’s important to note that this is not a wireless speaker, and hence has to be plugged in all the time in order to work. Downloading the Belkin SoundForm app enhances the functionality of the product by allowing you to integrate Alexa for further convenience, however, the app is missing an EQ which is a let down for me. At times (though rare) I did hear my music cut out for a split second, unsure why this occurs sometimes but I suspect this is because of my WiFi connect, which isn’t that strong in my room anyways.
The wireless charging feature is a handy add on. Just place your (compatible) phone of the top of the speaker, within seconds it will start charging. Though I did find that when left for an hour to charge (while playing music) my iPhone started getting warm. Perhaps this is because of my case that I had on at the time, but this isn’t something that would happen when charging my phone normally.
The ‘Push Push’ vibration cancel technology blows my mind too. It’s crazy that you can still feel the bass of a song without the walls falling apart. Another review put this perfectly, and it feels like the music is vibrating in the air rather on the walls and ceiling. If you don’t have Alexa, you can still control the audio volume, skip tracks, pause music, etc, by using the touchscreen button panel on the top surface of the speaker, for sure a handy feature.
Overall, this is a 4 star product for me. The app needs some improving in my opinion, especially for the 279,99 asking price. Regardless, a stylish and premium speaker in regards to audio quality and experience.
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂
I was so keen to get this, it’s a great combination to have a wireless phone charger, Alexa and Bluetooth speaker all in one.
I was impressed when it arrived, it’s in a nice box and even comes with dust bags covering the speaker which gives it a luxurious feel. I got the white version which is actually grey and white, it’s a decent size and looks great.
To set it up you need to download the belkin soundform app which gets it synced with your wifi and Alexa. I’ve only ever used Alexa with my fire tv stick and phone so I was really impressed with what it could do. First thing we did was ask Alexa to call Santa – it doesn’t do phone calls for you normally but they make a special exception for Santa’s workshop! My daughter loved it so that was really fun. You can also ask it questions and to play music which works well. I also like the fact you can press to stop Alexa listening which is good when I’m not using it although unplugging it also works!
The volume choices when playing music via Alexa are a little disappointing as they seem to limited to only a few levels so I either have to have it a little louder or quieter than I’d like. If you pair it with your mobile you can use the buttons on your phone to have more control over the volume. The sound quality is really good though so that part doesn’t disappoint.
The wireless charging also works well as long as you put the phone in the right place as instructed.
My only negative with this is that it’s mains powered only so you have to have it plugged in at all times to work. Seems a bit counterproductive to have a build in wireless phone charger but it needing to be plugged in! The plug is also really big and bulky so doesn’t fit easily into our kitchen plug which is in a shelf unit. If you have anything around the plug socket limiting the space you may need to use an extension lead to make it fit.
Overall I’m really pleased with this, I’ve got it sat on my dressing table (make shift home office) and enjoy using it throughout the day. Would recommend!
I have chosen the white one as most of my furnitures are white. it goes well with them. When I first unbox I immediately dowload
the Belkin sound form elite iPhone app to set it up and configure the unit. The app will guide you along what to do next. A very simple andy easy to follow steps. I enabled the alexa, amazon music and granted permission to use spotify, it now did all I wanted it for, play music according to my play list, charge my phone and also use command to turn on/off the smart device at home. The sound quality is amazing and it seems like I have a very expensive sound system installed in kitchen. if you need a bit of privacy and not want it to hear what youand your family talk about, Simply press the button on it to mute it. I am happy with this.
This arrived in a bespoke branded lift top box with speaker in the centre held securely top and bottom with moulded cardboard and inside a string pull net bag for added protection, below this is had the instruction leaflet giving instructions on getting the soundform application for both IOS and Android, a detailed diagram identifying everything on the speaker along with its function. In the bottom it had the plug/power block which is disappointingly large so you will need a good free area around the plug socket to accommodate it.
After unpacking everything I installed the soundform app on my phone, plugged the speaker in and ran through the setup which I found to be very straight forward along with giving step by step onscreen instructions Once I had it set up I gave it a try out, I already have an echo dot and with smart devices along with music I find it extremely useful but didn’t want both the new speaker and my echo dot both responding simultaneously, so I renamed the echo dot’s wake word to echo from Alexa via the Amazon Alexa application which worked perfectly to avoid any duplicated reply.
The wireless charging platform on the speaker works perfectly and being 10 watt it charges faster than the more common 5 watt wireless chargers and also looks aesthetically pleasing when playing music from your phone along with not running the battery down. I found the sound quality extremely good especially normally using an echo dot which does not have the greatest sound quality, the vibration cancelling works extremely well and even at full volume playing tunes with a lot of bass sound I detected no distortion or vibration.
The soundform application works well and allows very quick switching from Bluetooth to Alexa or Spotify along with being able to add more services, I like the spinning record deck animation while playing music although simple I thought it a nice touch, the app is limited on functions and settings but in my opinion did everything I needed with Alexa being able to do the rest via voice control.
Overall the look of the speaker is very nice with the concealed LED’s on the front being bright enough to see without being too bright and irritating, the look of the speaker is very nice and everything appears to be finished to the highest quality with attention to detail such as the power supply plugging in under the speaker matching into the base, the sound quality is extremely good with the vibration cancelling working really well to allow distortion free music at the highest volume. The only issue I had was the ugly and large power supply plug, I presume they put the PSU inside this rather than inside the speaker to keep size and heat down, I have plugged this in out of sight and out of mind and was the only thing that stopped me giving this top marks.
This Belkin sound form elite speaker is nice looking and simple to use. You can connect to the speaker through Bluetooth (I mainly use Spotify music through it) as well as using it as a wireless charger by placing your phone on top. It is a brilliant 2-in-1 product.
It comes nicely packaged and the speaker and the power lead both come in drawstring bags.
It also has Alexa built in, however I haven’t used this function. The sound quality is absolutely fantastic and I was really pleasantly surprised by this. The speaker is worth every penny and the quality pips some speakers that I have that are 2-3 times the price.
This smart speaker is Belkin’s alternative to the Echo Studio, or equivalent smart speaker. Unfortunately I only have cheaper Echo devices so I can’t do a like-for-like comparison and tell you whether the Belkin is worth paying the (at time of writing) forty quid extra for compared to an Echo Studio.
But it is a fantastic-sounding, chunky Bluetooth speaker and a lot of thought has gone into the sound quality. It sounds rich and warm, with an amazing amount of bass but faithful high-end reproduction as well. It has to be said that it’s really quite a heavy speaker, so I would certainly expect it to sound powerful considering its weight, and it does.
The notable point about the sound is that the advertised vibration suppression really works. I have other speakers which can throw out big dollops of bass, but they will shake the table underneath them in the process. The “push-push” design of these speakers manages to push a lot of sound sideways without vibrating anything downwards, which is very clever- you can hold it in your hands whilst playing loud music, and your hands don’t get shaken. The vibration cancelling is very clever and effective.
I got a white one and the design, frankly, looks a bit cheaper than the price tag. There’s something about Belkin’s slightly-soft white plastic shells that feels and looks a little cheap and basic. The QI charging pad on the top is effective at charging my Samsung S10, but it’s not very elegant-looking. The fabric outer is a pleasant touch that softens it a little but the overall look is a bit of an ugly beast.
Setup is fairly straightforward, using the Belkin Soundform app on Android, for both regular Bluetooth use and use with Alexa. A firmware update took a surprisingly long time (over ten minutes) and it took me a minute to work out that the speaker’s microphone is off by default when you switch it on.
There are a few minor but tangible limitations that I find a little bit disappointing. For example, if using it with Alexa, there is no option for changing the wake word. We’ve switched the wake word to “Echo” on the other devices in the house because we were finding that the devices seemed to recognise it better. On this device’s settings, there is no wake word option- only “Alexa!” will wake it up. Some of the other settings are missing too.
In addition, I’m surprised at how loud the quietest volume setting on this speaker is. The speaker doesn’t seem to have the ability to do really quiet playback, for example for ambient music for relaxing. Even the loudest volume setting is a little bit loud.
Also, whilst I’m listing niggles, there’s something odd with Alexa’s voice. While music through Bluetooth sounds crisp and sharp, whenever I use the voice control and get a voice response in Alexa’s familiar accent, the sound quality sounds just slightly lo-fi and crackly for some reason, and I can’t figure out why, as the WiFi connection is strong and so on.
There are a lot of smart speakers available in the same price range at time of writing, including some from big-name manufacturers like Denon. Belkin’s addition to the selection feels like it ticks all the right boxes, without doing anything particularly special. The vibration cancelling is its only real distinguishing feature, and it does sound great, but I do have a few niggles with it, and it maybe doesn’t do enough to distinguish itself from the crowd otherwise.
Item arrived safely and comes delivered in a well designed and nicely presented retail box.
The quality of the speaker is excellent, as you would expect for something this price. Its nice and heavy, the plastics are good quality, the wireless pad has a rubber/silicone cover to protect your phone, and it has a large grippy base to keep it in position. Everything about it is high quality and I’m very pleased with the overall look and feel of it.
To make full use of the speaker you need to download the Soundform app, you can still use Bluetooth and the wireless charging without it but to connect it to Wi-Fi, stream music, update the firmware, and set up Alexa you will need to use the app. The app is very basic with no equalisers or settings for the speaker apart from turning off the beeping sound it makes when you use the voice assistant, it is easy to use and nicely designed though.
I’ve never listened to anything quite like this, the anti-vibration technology is really fascinating and works brilliantly. When you play bass heavy songs you get very little to no vibration but you can still hear/feel the bass, especially when you move further away from the speaker, its quite remarkable and completely different from the room shaking bass we’re used to with traditional speakers.
The sound quality is very good and although you can tell the music is coming from the speaker it still does a great job of filling the room with sound. It goes to a very high volume, more than most will ever go to and it still remains clear with minimal distortion.
Sure, if you spend the same amount of money on a normal speaker then it will probably sound a little bit better than this but this is a speaker for people who don’t want vibrations travelling through walls and furniture into the next room so you have to pay a little extra for technology like this and yet it still manages to sound amazing.
The charging pad supports fast wireless charging on my Galaxy S20+ and features a small LED light to let you know its charging. You can use Bluetooth while your phone is on the pad without it causing any interference with the music, which is something I’ve experienced in the past with other speakers like this. The wall plug is quite large and extends 9.5cm from the socket when plugged in but it’s about the same width as a normal UK plug so it will fit in between other plugs just fine.
The built-in Alexa works great, and it hears me clearly every time. So far, the only things I’ve found that Alexa can’t do is letting you make calls and announcements, but you can turn on/off smart devices and ask questions, read the news, etc.
Overall, I can’t fault this speaker one bit, it’s a fantastic device and the anti-vibration technology is brilliant, it’s so weird feeling the bass in air rather than through the floor, furniture, etc. The whole thing oozes premium and I love the design of it, well worth the money and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed with it.
Belkin and Devialet have done an excellent job creating a very stylish and great sounding speaker. I am very happy to recommend it and I feel its easily worth the full five stars!
I was really excited to get this Belkin sound form elite, I have one in black and one in white. The first thing to do when I took it out the box was to download the Belkin sound form elite iPhone app to set it up and configure the unit. upon first connection which was easy, I just had to enter my wifi password for the unit to connect to my wifi and it instantly detected a firmware update from Belkin. After it carried out the update (4 minutes) I could then see it and adjust the settings and play music either from the app or from other apps on iOS. The speaker also invited me to enable Alexa, I entered my amazon account details and it setup with ease.
After doing initial tests for sound and the Alexa functionality I got the second unit out and attempted to set that up, again, using the app, it was really easy to run through the same process and complete the update, Alexa enablement and they then both showed in the app ready to use individually or together.
In terms of the sound quality, these sound similar in quality to my 3000 Genelec reference monitors, although, the overall volume isn’t incredibly loud, it is more than adequate to fill a lounge enough for a normal party and the bass is really impressive without being overemphasised or unrealistic.
IO moved the two units to opposite ends of the house to see how in sync they remained when streaming to all at the same time and there is zero latency, meaning you won’t get any annoying echos.
The Alexa function can be muted easily from a button on the unit or from the app, so if privacy is a concern, doing setup that part, or leave it muted.
The only slight annoyance was the power supply was quite a large wall adaptor which could be an issue if it was visible on a kitchen worktop for example).
Overall the quality of the speakers is absolutely fantastic and gives the likes of Sonos a run for its money whilst being a lot better value and also getting the functionality of a superfast wireless charger.
Priced at 199.99 (On offer from 279.99) (25th November 2020)
It’s smaller than it looks, and it’s heavier than it looks.
It is a solid device, durable feel to it, not sure what purpose it fills?
Here’s my breakdown:
Easy set up with Bluetooth
Belkin App optional (thank you!)
Alexa integration is the standard login + authenticate
Has a sort of 360 audio affect
Wireless charging is good, generous space to suit all phones
General audio quality is very good but…
Well designed, no annoying features, even the plug fits in perfectly
Audio doesn’t handle bass very well, had to adjust my standard EQ
Price seems way off
In summary
I’m not sure where at home it would go…
I think it would be great for barbeques or outdoor party type events but it’s not rated for outdoor use!
I feel like it has a very specific purpose, if you want to listen to music casually and charge your phone at the same time, that’s i
A very impressive system from Belkin. I have now put this on my bedside table. It is small and compact, smaller than the photo looks. The top plate allows you to put your phone on to wirelessly charge it, unfortunately my phone case stops it from charging so it won’t work unless I take the case off my phone.
Setting up was simple. Switch it on, it’s mains only no batteries here so not portable. You need to download the Belkin Soundform app which guides you through connecting it to bluetooth and setting up the Alexa features.
The alexa feature works well, say Alexa and it does everything a normal alexa speaker does however it only supports playing music from Spotify or Amazon music. This is odd as my Alexa devices support Appler music which is what I use so was a bit disappointed. It worked with Amazon music which I have with Prime so was still able to use it.
The app also requested a firmware update when it connected to wifi so a new feature like Apple Music might appear in the future.
There isn’t much on the device, no display. There are so LED lights and some buttons to mute the speaker, turn the volume up and down and activate Bluetooth – another way to listen to music by blue toothing your music from your device instead. It also has airplay as well, similar to Bluetooth but for apple devices.
Sound quality was great, it goes very loud, would easily be used as a party speaker. The issue is there is no EQ on the app which was a shame.
I like the design, its compact, well build and has a premium feel to it. The mains plug was surprisingly big though, looked like something a computer or laptop would have.
Over all, I liked the speaker. I have summed up some pros and cons
Pros
Good sound
Compact design
Lots of connectivity – BT, Alexa, Air Play
Easy to set up
Cons
Huge power plug
No apple music support
No battery option – mains only
Simple app – No EQ
I really like this speaker. It’s compact so easy to place and looks good. Lights show through the soft fabric mesh when needed, and there are responsive touch buttons on the top panel.
The speaker has an impressive bass for its size that really fills the room. The 35mm driver and 70mm woofers pack a punch and it goes louder than you’ll possibly ever need it! Sound quality at full volume is still decent.
Music is deep and atmospheric. Mids and highs are fine, but not as impressive as the bass. So whether this speaker suits you will depend a bit on your music taste.
Setup was slightly frustrating – on the whole it’s very easy, with the Belkin Soundform app guiding you through the process using voice aids … but I found that I had to force a 2.4GHz WiFi connection for setup, even though the speaker works with a 5GHz network once set up. Nothing in the app told me this, it just didn’t connect. As a fairly techie person, I figured that it might be to do with the 5GHz network – if you’re a tech novice you’d have been scratching your head wondering why it doesn’t connect with your WiFi! Now you know. However, this shouldn’t put you off buying it as once set up it works perfectly without any drops.
I find the smart assistant integration a breeze to use and makes it so easy to control your music.
The charging platform on the top is brilliant. My tall Sony Xperia 1 II charges on it quickly, as does my big Huawei P30 Pro. The speaker reduces vibration from music when a phone is sat on the cradle, very clever.
However, the reason for dropping a star is the plug! See my photo – the design means it protrudes around 11cm from the plug socket plate. Why is this an issue? Well if your socket is behind furniture, you’ll have to pull your furniture out longer than you want to so that the plug fits – or use an extension cable to underneath or the side to tuck the plug away elsewhere. I think this is a poor design. A flat plug with the power box between two cable lengths would be a much better option. Also, the cable isn’t very long – could do with at least another 1/2 metre.
