Amazing HD quality and I love using BenQ screens. I used another model before for 5+ years and its still not dead and I got this in my new home. I will share a tip for long life, clean the LED screen and back with a dry cloth every month at least once, then you will see high life.
It solves my daily work needs and personal movie watching time in bed. You will never buy any TV once you get this monitor screen. Audio is great as well, but a honest comparison of audio to a sound card it will be 80% match to a sound card because sound card is designed to boost sound, so its generally 20% louder than TV audio. Hope this helps someone!
After my secondary monitor died I was left with the primary screen for so long, purchased this as a replacement, it’s not the best monitor out there but it’s cheap enough!
Don’t expect top quality on the lower end price scale.
I was si happy with the first purchase that I bought a second identical
good manager for the money I can’t complain
speakers are a little tiny
Long as you use headphones it’s good
good gaming quality I hate 75fps
screen is perfect size
I would recommend
After I placed the order looking at other sites I was confused about it’s power consumption. It has a “D” rating (better than most) but on some sites I saw (after placing the order) 32 watts? On delivery I tested it with a power meter. There are loads of options regarding the display. I tried just about all, including “gaming”. None caused the consumption to go over 16. Most used 12 ish. I found the pre-set ones too bright, so set the brightness etc myself using the “personal” option and it showed 12 watts. So extremely efficient to say the least. Very happy. The display is very good but not better than my Sony TV. I did not expect it to be. I agree with a lot of comments on the WWW. A bargain cost gaming monitor. I use it for work as well all day so the energy efficiency is important.
Bought for general browsing/pc work no games or high precision gfx or video.
I did notice immediately that there is no 75hz available at the default resolution of 1920×1080 via DVI, so I felt as though it was a bit misleading – the higher refresh rate is available at a couple of the much lower resolutions. (whether this is available via HDMI I don`t know as I didn`t test it but need the HDMI for TV so irrelevant either way)
The on-screen controls are intuitive and the icons displayed on screen actually line up to the “hidden” buttons on the lower edge, unlike my previous monitor which was a nuisance.
Went from a 24″ to this 27″ – a nice increase in size without being overwhelming in a small area.
The screen itself seems to have a perfectly good display, options to reduce blue light etc and a few inbuilt settings, also has auto-dimming due to a sensor on the front, I just turned it off as I found it uneccessary.
I needed the DVI input on this as my HDMI output serves the television, there wasn`t a lot of monitors available that had both.
There is a rather bright led on the power button underneath which is orange when on standby – this only illumintes the surface below as the actualy button is hidden beneath.
The bezel is approximately one inch wide all around.
The Vesa mount worked with my old wall mount so that was no problem at all.
So, satisfied with the monitor overall, now the big question is longevity….a case of watch this space I suppose.
Reasoably priced and very good quality. Bought it for office work as a second screen for the laptop. And it has really helped me. It has been my main screen now for all the tasks, difficult to use the laptop screen on its own.
This was a gift to me, and I am very pleased with the colour, size and everything. It would be nice if there was another one for the same price.
Needed to replace a number of old LCD screens rapidly. Didn’t have money to burn. So I purchased a pair of these and a swivel mount.
What a slick and professional looking set-up. The picture quality is so much better, and perfect for work. They don’t blur, fonts are clear and sharp. Plenty of options to customise. If you’re an avid gamer and you want vibrant 4K everywhere, then these won’t cut it. But if you’re a casual gamer who needs something with a fast response time, that you can work with…then these are perfect.
The integrated speakers, driven by HDMI, won’t set the world on fire, but avid gamers will have their own audio setup.
straight from the box to plug in all cables took 2 minutes max
easy assembly of base to hide wires really cool feature
press button under screen bezel follow the arrows and away into game mode
I bought 2 of theses one for me and other for my son
no issues with monitor so fa
Having used Benq monitors in work and have found no reason to have issues with, took a punt at a gaming model and think it’s one of the smartest choices I’ve made.
Good size 27″, very fast refresh and at a bargain price.
Games such as Fortnite need a decent graphics card and monitor to compliment and this unit fits just right.
Good buy..
Purchased from Amazon Warehouse as knew the box would be damaged, it was fine. No power lead and lots of mid length hair in the box, stuck on the plastic. Saved a bit but would probably like quality control to get the hoover out before sending in the future.
I bought this monitor as a replacement for my gaming son. His previous was a Samsung so took a wee chance on the Benq given the noted response times. He seems perfectly happy with it and that’s good enough for me!
The item description didn’t mention this is an lcd screen just LED but its not an LED its an lcd as far as lcd goes its not a bad picture
Amazing quality for a cheap budget monitor, I got this to replace a failing HKC 2612A 26″
I also have 2nd BenQ G2222HDL 22″ monitor that has been on 24/7 for over 10 years and is still working 100% fine so I hope I get the same lifespan from this new BenQ.
Picture colours are sharp and very clear, although I have reduced the Green from 50 to 40 using NVidia Control panel.
Picture attached is of the dead pixel (to be expected with any LED monitor) it looks worse than it is and barley noticeable.
[UPDATE]: the dead pixel has fixed itself after wiping the screen – so no dead pixel anymore.
Also switching to 75Hz gives a much better picture so don’t forget to switch. 75hz only seems to be selectable via HDMI lead, DP+DVI connections seem to only max at 60hz (other leads may differ – mine were cheap)
This is a good monitor a dynamic ratio, HDMI connectivity, fast response time and incredible refresh rate, this 16:9 LED monitor delivers every image detail with the best viewing quality. Built with the dream combination of LED with TN panel, GL2480 is bound to bring a whole different visual experience and enjoyment to you with truly authentic colors, deeper blacks and sharper details.
Good quality monitor although I had to play around with the settings a lot to adjust it to a nice picture as by default it is extremely bright and to the point it hurts your eyes.
Bought this for my son’s new gaming computer. Looked at loads but this came out on top for me, for quality, style, value for money and the brand for gaming monitors. The cables tuck away inside a cable cover at the back of the centre stand of the monitor. Very clever and it keeps the desktop nice and tidy.
The screen and picture quality is crisp and crystal clear and makes gaming a real pleasure. The sound quality is good for a monitor, and you can attach speakers to it. But personally I don’t think it needs it.
I use with my iMac also i bought firetv stack with it so i can use it as a smary TV.
Works great for browsing, watching YouTube and could use it as a TV, just one thing could be better the sound is not great but it’s ok, but it’s still a bonus because most monitors does not have audio.
Got to admit I was a bit sceptical at first reading mixed reviews. But for the price took a punt, worst case could always return it if I wasn’t happy.
First off, it is well packaged, unlike the ACER screen delivered the day before (see other review) so you should not have any issues with a damaged screen etc.
Hooked it up using a DP Cable, powered it on and first impressions, bright, great size……but Yellow tint.
Now others have mentioned this but after fumbling around with the screen buttons underneath i soon managed to resolve it.
First go to Eye Care tab, then click right and in Low Blue Light select Multimedia, then click down one and select
colour weakness (this is the important bit) click on Red Filter and Green Filter, and reduce them to Zero.
Then turn Brightness up and Hey Presto, no yellow minging tint on the screen.
Nice touch is the cable hider at the back of the stand, keeps everything tidy.
Been playing COD etc, no need to change the screen mode to game, the multimedia setting is the brightest and clearest mode.
Built in speakers? yeah, you get sound, not the best but adequate if your watching YouTube, certainly no good for gaming, stick to your headset for that.
Was using my sons 31.5″ AOC Gaming monitor which is on another level, but of course it would be, its over double the price, but for 150, i would certainly recommend this little beauty.
I’m not particularly techie so I can’t tell the ins and out of the specifications and performance. I bought it as part of my home office setup. I need a big screen as I do a lot of animation, photoshop and presentation development. I sit in front of it for 8+ a day with no problem.
Nice clear picture, can’t imagine you can do better for the money.
Delivery was via Hermes, so be prepared for a short walk to find out where it’s delivered.
Very happy with the monitor, so much so that I bought a second one. I’m sure there are better ones if I was prepared to pay more, but at this price (though by luck I saved 30 on the list price when I got the second one) this is everything I could ask for. Neither monitor was faulty, had dud pixels or was marked or damaged in any way, both have a good picture and, so far, work properly and as they were intended to, so I have no reason to complain about anything.
Runs 75fps easy enough, has good built in speakers and the picture quality is not bad. The monitor is easy to set up and I had no major issues with it.
The tv itself is awesome with a clear picture, easy on the eyes and very quick to set up and put onto the stand, only downside was no remote control and no simple way to just change the volume you essentially have to go into the menu to do it.
got new monitor cos old one was ancient and stopping me run linux and windows very well. firstly it was a lot bigger than i expected, but i never read the measurements! after a bit of rearranging it sits in the corner and the cat watches videos of fish and occasionally looks behind the monitor for them so i guess it’s got a realistic picture cos she’s not stupid.
really bright but you can turn that down, plus it got built in speakers which are no good for listening to music but quite loud and handy if you can’t be bothered to plug the headphones in or just want to watch tv and a video together. hope this helps. oh yeah the screens massive which helps if you have a lot of windows open at once.
This is actually a nice monitor. When I first got it, it was very annoying that it doesn’t tilt down at all, so if your position is low then you have to prop something underneath at the back, but, that aside the picture is great and the blacks are nice and black.
I improved the overall image tenfold (bizarrely) by adjusting the AMD software for my graphics card to output at 75hz, which this monitor does actually support.
Not only did this make it brighter but the colours and games now look way better.
Just use your GPU software to set a profile outputting 75hz at 1080 resolution and you will be surprised. Nothing needs changing with the monitors settings itself.
I was getting frustrated with what used to be thought of as a big screen, so went for this, to give twice the area. The automatic brightness control does a great job of giving consistent viewing in varying lighting conditions, even direct sun. Yes, it is slightly disconcerting when the brightness changes noticeably, but mostly the adjustments are subtle. The screen gives a sharp image and good colour. I don’t think there are any dead pixels. The stand only allows the screen angle to be adjusted, so you need a suitable riser (or other fix) to get the height right. Frankly, my biggest problem is seeing where the mouse-pointer is in all the acres of screen. Very satisfied.
This monitor was definitely not what I was expecting when I pulled it out of the box, it’s huge! It was super easy and quick to put together, if using the stand, and it’s super sturdy on my desk. The picture quality is amazing and the response time for games is incredible! After gaming on a laptop, this is such an improvement, quality and overall wise. It runs like a dream! I would definitely highly recommend this, I may even get another as a second monitor soon! (Was going to get a 24 inch to compliment it but I love this one a lot)
I have no complaints about this monitor. I upgraded from a samsung monitor that was 2007 vintage!
Use this mostly for work and some gaming. Big and wide and doesnt strain the eyes either.
My wife is going to be buying one soon too as she likes using mine.
Overall great. Curently using as my second monitor and my other one for gaming. Haven’t tested it on a game but, I’m sure its fine. I wouldnt say its for a hardcore gamer who plays comp games. 144hz is yummy. But 60hz will do. The low ms is great and perfect for those starting off with gaming
The instructions to actually use the unit are not easy to follow. I’m still working on how to get the headphones working. I have plugged the phones into the appropriate socket at the rear of the monitor but as yet no response. I’ll keep plugging away. I thought they would be like the screen, plug and play.
Great quality, my second BenQ monitor. Impressive picture quality and low weight. Only downside is that I have this on the supplied stand and unfortunately it is not level so am having to adjust by raising up one side of the base with some coins. Not a major complaint, but it would be good if the stand was adjustable to ensure the monitor can be horizontal without the old fashioned workaround.
I’d been searching a number of monitors and stumbled across this one. The specs seemed good for my reuirements and for the price i got it at it is a brilliant buy. It’s excellent for gaming, picture quality is exceptional. The inbuilt speakers are ok, not brilliantly powerful but decent enough.
Overall this is an excellent monitor to have.
Really good monitor, I am now working from home and using it 12 hrs plus per day and I don’t get eye strain, which I did from my old monitor. It is really easy to assemble and set up and appears to be very well made. Please note, this monitor comes with an HDMI cable. The description doesn’t make it clear that the cable is included and Amazon tell you that most people buy a cable with the monitor, so I bought one. I suspect there are a lot of BenQ customers who now have a spare HDMI cable tucked into a drawer in their home office…
I love this monitor because its a monitor it doesn’t try to be everything, it isn’t 4k, it hasn’t got the best kind of built in speakers but what it does really well is automatically adjust the screen brightness, it offer the blue reduction to reduce eye strain. Whilst it’s a 27inch monitor it’s big but not to big if you see what I mean. I love the simple adjustments and the adjust and forget. For the money I was hard pressed to find anything of this price, it is easily a few hundred pounds cheaper than other that really don’t offer anything different. I would put the money saved and add a sound bar 2.1 which would truly liven it up.
I am not a video nerd, so I can not comment on anything specific but here goes….
I bought this monitor to be mainly used for vga and it works a treat. The screen in not blinding and to my eyes is crisp and sharp. Hardware wise I would say it is adiquate. The bezels are tiny and the monitor is well built and mounted on a sturdy stand, which is positioned to allow some storage space.
My only gripe would be the menu. Not the system itself as any problems I encountered were because i did not RTFM. Under the screen are six buttons, I feel that this is two too many.
Conclusion
Great value for the price. Highly recommended.
This is a reasonable product and very easy to use. Great color output . Good idea to have a head phone port coz the speaker is not very good. Overall very good.
I bought this so I would be able to use it with my laptop to work from home. The screen size is perfect and there are screen/brightness options for Multimedia, Web Surfing, Office or Reading. I find the Multimedia setting works fine, but if you spend long hours in front of the screen, the Office setting gives a slightly yellow tone so your eyes don’t strain. Easy to set up – just plug in and go! Comes with a HDMI cable as well and the power cable is a good length.
I don’t game, so can’t rate it for that. Inbuilt speakers aren’t great, but they’ll do, and there’s a headphone port anyway. I loved how easy it was to put the stand together – you don’t even need a screwdriver because the screw has its own handle.
I run Linux and needed to install pavucontrol to get the HDMI output port recognised.
I wanted two displays for my Mac Mini and these do the trick for a budget. As someone have pointed out already, chances are that you get different colours due different panels, though I think this can be corrected at least to some extent with some colour calibration that I still have to try.
I use my computer mainly for programming, so I don’t care that much about colour accuracy anyway.
All things considered and given the price tag, I’m fine with their limitations. I just got what I paid for, so it’s okay.
BTW, unlike others published here, mines are actually marked as 1ms in the box.
Love this screen, great picture quality for the money. Great for gaming and just general use. This is the first time I’ve bought a bigger screen and I absolutely will buy a screen of a similar size again. Would deffo recommend this screen to anyone!
Got this monitor on Mid Sept.2019, the first week it momentarily turn off then on again and it happened for a few times during the week, ready packed it and send back. Then I ran through other people’s comments see if other has the same issue and how to fix it. One said about the HDMI might give a bit of problem. And I remember I had use my disused HDMI from TV to other device , so I replaced the new cable comes with the monitor. After weeks of running not a blink from the monitor.
Other thing, yes! the speaker volume is not high, my ipad is much higher then it . Well ! of course can use head phone in stead so this is not a issue .
Overall, so far so good and I like it .
So on the whole this is a good monitor. It’s a great size by a respected brand at a very competitive price point. The picture quality is not perfect though- this monitor really seems to really struggle with shadow areas and other dark colours- it pixelates quite badly and I’ve found the only way to minimize this effect is by turning the gamma down (which impacts on the overall picture) on the monitor itself, although I got better results by turning gamma down when going through Windows display settings. On the whole it’s far more noticeable in videos (eg YouTube) than games, so if you’re primarily using it for that maybe that’s an issue you can live with. Seems to cope a lot better with highlights and I’ve not noticed any blowouts in that regard. Viewing angles also aren’t the best but that’s part and parcel of a TN display. It is a good monitor, but it has drawbacks and you should be aware before purchasing.
I bought the FHD, 24.5 inch model to replace my Tesco-brand TV. The FHD runs 1080p flawlessly. It came with a built-in speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack which is a great thing since I only game with headphones on. The monitor has minimal bezel edges and is almost all taken up by the screen. Using this with my Xbox One X.
Really happy with the purchase, for the price (100 pounds) this was a steal.
If you have a tight budget, then this is probably one of the best options in the market. It will not do you wonders, but it will not let you down either.
Just a quick tip for everyone. I see a lot of people complaining about the image. Go to the menu settings and change it to what suit your needs.
I dipped my toes in to the more than HD at the budget end of the market and I am very impressed with the picture quality. I deliberately chose a monitor with in-built speakers but am a bit disappointed with them. It’s not that sound quality is particularly bad, but even with the volume set to 100, they are quiet.
Rated at 4 overall, if I didn’t care about the speakers I would have given this 5.
Edit: Having spent some time tweaking the sound configuration in Linux (Pulse audio and alsa) the speakers are not as bas as I thought.
I used to have a BenQ many years ago but moved to Asus monitors. But I was after high quality Vesa compatible monitors, after much deliberation I decided to give these a go again. And I am very pleased. The picture quality is fantastic in all modes, I have settled on a reading mode to reduce the blue light effect. I like how you can do this instead of having to faff with all the colour and contrast settings, which is still perfectly possible.
Been using it for gameing mostly and it’s crystal clear, no distortion.
Build quality is very good, no creaks when handling it. Solid construction on the mounting system, which admittingly I have not used but can see when handling and unboxing.
All round its a good addition to the desk!
Used this monitor a couple of days now. The 24 inch is a good size to have a couple of windows on the screen. The stand is quite large and takes up a lot of space. You can notice slight colour fade based on horizontal viewing angle. It’s ok looking straight ahead at the screen. I wasn’t expecting a super sharp display.
The function buttons are awkwardly placed on the back and this takes some time getting familiar with. The speakers are shockingly bad, but this was expected.
Generally It’s ok, I don’t think you can get something much better in this price range.
I must say… I was left, confused on recieveing this monitor. As ordered, I recieved the BenQ GL2580. I have to say, from my experience with the monitor so far, I am completely in love with it. HOWEVER, upon recieving it, i realised that instead of a “24.5 inch” display as described on the amazon ad, it was actually 25. Now im not complaining about the fact that i got some extra real-estate.. but the box is also marked with a “2ms response rate” which is double what is advertised on the amazon ad. This is being used for pro-league gaming (for an upcoming team who cannot yet afford the investments of 144hz monitors, so these 85s will be great (although im also limited to 60hz right now?? But that could be because of my elgato hd60 pro in the signal chain.) overall, im impressed with the monitor, but would prefer if the amazon store page told the truth, so that I knew exactly what I was getting into. Thanks.
I have used BenQ for a few years now and I rely on their well built, professional style of monitors. This one is just that. The image quality is fantastic for this price range, I can’t review the speakers as I didn’t opt to have that specific model. One minor flaw however is that the button placements (underneath the monitor) aren’t as efficient as had anticipated. They don’t apear to have information near them which usually indicate what they do. This consequentky makes the UI and menus hard to navigate. With some practice however, this becomes less of an issue. Other than that, it’s a fantastic monitor, from a reliable company, at a great price. Highly recommended!
Arrived quickly (as expected)
Good quality built, reasonably light and build durable.
Mounting on stand couldn’t be easier.
Drop the monitor, yes I imagine it wouldn’t hold us as well as others, but then again wouldn’t recommend dropping any monitor.
Frame and Refresh rate very good. For my son, used with gaming PC build, plays fortnite, call of duty etc and no issues with picture quality, with max settings in game.
Can tilt the monitor to point up / down etc.
Negatives if you could call them that:
Stand doesn’t allow moving monitor to different heights. Not really a significant flaw and well aware of that before purchase.
This is a good buy – definitely recommended. It’s a good quality display, flicker-free, and very good colour reproduction. I use this to work from home, and the size and resolution is perfect for me.
4K at this screen size, would mean fonts would be too small for me – but this is just right.
Highly recommended if you are short on space and cant fit in a 32 or higher size monitor (at which size, the 4K resolution would make sense!).
A brilliant monitor for the price. I switched to this after using an older 1280×1024 monitor for the past few years, and the difference was astounding. The resolution and size is more than enough for work, gaming or just general use, and the large variety of video output connections means you won’t have to worry about buying any kind of adapters. The simple and sleek design of the monitor itself is a big plus too; the screen almost covers the entire front of the ‘frame’, for lack of a better word, with no thick border around it to take up unnecessary space. Overall, a high quality, affordable and reliable monitor.
