Its ok you get what you pay for, does the job but with more care needed than costlier one id guess.
Probably need a blade upgrade, bit shaky even when blade tight but needs guard tied back to see what youre doing,i dont mind it for what i payed but in hindsight id go for dearer bosch onem
Black and Decker circular saw with black and decker quality, very happy with the product and all works as it should. Great tool to have around especially for your DIY.
Gift for my husband , he is very happy with the ease and convenience of this and how light it is
Had to cut both 45^ and 26^ angles for a bay window. There is a laser light but not easy to see in strong daylight. Overall satisfied with the saw, simple to use and set up. You get what you pay for, I may not use it again for years so it should last me.
Unfortunately the red guide light does not seem to work that well. However, once you work out which of the guides on the metal fixing to use it is easy to follow a pencil line on wood.
Very impressed overall for the price.
Not had before just used a saw makes job easier and quicke
Bought for my partner and he seems to like it. So far we have used to cut blinds and mdf. The laser is really useful for cutting straight.
It is lighter in weight than some comparable saws so a bit easier on the arms. I bought it for a medium DIY use and it is absolutely fine for that. But this is not an industrial heavy duty product and you could not expect it to be for the current price – which in my opinion is good value for money.

Used in the making of my 12 metre long vertical slat fence- only wish it had a finer toothed disc as part of the products package!
However… this saw in particular had a few tiny issues. I found the laser wasn’t 100% accurate. But not the end of the world as it’s not really something you end up keeping an eye on when it actually comes to use it. I also found the blade wasn’t in line with the cut out guide slots it has on the base plate. But saying that it has lots of space to be able to see the blade while youre cutting you’re line. So again only a small issue. But that’s why it only gets 4 stars as my dewalt circular saw is dead on with the cut line. It does make it easier. Also be very careful when umboxing as the blade is in a funny place and is very dangerous. Overall a good buy for the price.
Lovely machine. Works well and is powerful and handles well. Haopy with the sale purchase. I don’t think tou can find this model anywhere now. Reviewed 3 or 4 years after purchase.
Its a big thing but a great product. Used it so many times on job-sites. Its robust (just what you need on a work site) easy to navigate when cutting and the power is enough for most purposes. With the right blade it slices through hard woods just as easily as soft woods.
This is my first circular saw and I love it.
I hate sawing and this is just amazing it’s easy to use and handle.
The build, feel and weight of it is spot on, I just want to buy more wood to cut up.
Just what was needed…good price and very capable bit of kit!
One slight niggle as others have pointed out is that there is no sawdust collection bag………as yet I have not been able to find one either!
Oh well I guess one just has to be careful where one points the dust extraction port!
This was to replace the same item purchased one years ago, when the bearing failed in the original it became clear it was cheaper to purchase a new machine rather than pay for spare parts.
This is probably my first electric saw. Cut through several wooden pallets with ease. I’m not sure I’m using it correctly – you have to hold the blade-protector up while cutting, which makes it extremely awkward to use. But I’m almost certainly doing something wrong. Impressed how powerful it is and wish I’d had one for years.
I built a deck outside my house with this (successfully). Just make sure you buy a bench and some ‘Quick Grips’ to hold any wood you are cutting steady. It is also very LOUD, ear defenders as well as goggles are a must! Using at an angle obviously reduces the cutting depth. I found it more than powerful enouigh and cuts cleanly through timber orf varying quality / density. I also lent it to a colleague who cut up an old wardrobe – he said it made a five minute job of it!
It’s my first circular saw. For a beginner like me it’s great, easy to use the only down side is the fact it doesn’t have a laser guide. Feels safe to use and sturdy. A carry case would off been nice, but circular saw cases are very big so not a big downside.
Not expensive so didn’t expect great things. And I’m not a professional but it did exactly what I wanted. Cuts clean with no kicks or even real evidence that it is cutting apart from the sawdust. Guide was spot on which I didn’t really expect either. Happy With the purchase, and I don’t have to buy a better blade which I thought I might have had to do. Pleased.
My first use was to cut down some hardwood doors I was given. My favourite form of recycling is to break down old wooden furniture or doors to make new items with. I’ve been doing this for years but using hand saws, not a power tool and the difference is dramatic. I found the CD602 reasonably easy to set up (READ THE MANUAL!), easy to use and very powerful. It sailed through the dense hardwood with very little effort on my part and after practising on some scrap I was able to make long straight cuts with ease. Clamping a straight edge to the work piece as a guide really helps and works much better than the supplied cutting guide. The saw is heavy compared to my other power tools (a drill and a jigsaw) but it is very powerful. A surprise for me was how cleanly the saw cuts, at least with the specialist blade I bought for it. I was expecting a rougher cut after seeing online videos by DIY enthusiasts, but although cuts do need some work with sandpaper and/or a plane afterwards there isn’t as much of that as I expected.
The dust extraction is fairly effective, and as I was using it without any bag or vacuum cleaner attached it was pumping sawdust out of the right hand side at a fair rate. I may get an adaptor for a vacuum cleaner or a bag attachment at some stage, but for now I just know I have to be aware of where all that sawdust is going to emerge and perhaps lay down a cloth to catch most of it.
I found just one thing that I regard as negative; there is no power light of any kind to let you know that current is flowing. On something like this, which can slice through flesh and bone very easily, I think some form of light to let you know it’s live is important. When a power tool can take fingers or limbs off as easily as this could, I want to know if it’s plugged in at a glance. Still it’s a minor niggle, the saw works very well indeed.
Oh, and these are not negative comments on this product, just inevitable things you should prepare for if you buy any circular saw. It’s noisy enough to damage your hearing so buy a pair of ear defenders to go with it, or use earplugs. In addition while cutting I was hit in the face by a few tiny wood chips, not hard enough to leave any mark, but hard enough to feel a little sting here and there. I was wearing safety glasses and I suspect they were hit too, and if I hadn’t been wearing them some of those little chips would probably have hit me in the eyes. So wear safety glasses or goggles too.
A doctor who worked in a casualty department also told me that a circular saw can cut off a human finger in less time than it takes to feel it happening — so if you use one always keep that in mind and be VERY careful.
This is my first dedicated circular saw and I bought it on impulse because it looked like bargain. This saw is priced at the top-end of the ‘budget’ models. In particular, I want to use it for rebating and/or cutting large sheet material which is too cumbersome to be cut on my table saw.
The circular saw arrived in good time and in good condition, well-packaged despite being a quite chunky weight which could have suffered if mis-handled. The first thing that struck me was the weight of the saw: it is very solidly built. In setting it up for square-ness of cut, it appears to be a little ‘agricultural’ in its engineering, but it just requires care in the setting. Once set, the ‘beast’ sawed effortlessly through 18mm chip-board and 12mm plywood, showing that it will be a very useful tool for my domestic use. I’m not so convinced by the accuracy of the guide-fence and I prefer to use a long guide-clamp to run the saw against.
In summary then; a well-built and competent piece of kit which will be a very useful addition to my domestic workshop.
.
Beware! Description quotes 65mm depth of cut? Will use for the first time tomorrow but the description splashed all over the genuine Black & Decker packaging states a 55mm depth of cut?
Good value tool. Feels solid, takes a little getting used to but found can perform well even on long rebating cuts using fence where depth and size of cut need to be precise. Struggles a little when cutting to max depth but fine if you keep square and go steady. Used extensively on a full re-roof and new balcony and seems fine. For me, worth the saving over more expensive brands. Not the biggest depth of cut but one advantage is that it’s quite light as a result – possible to use one handed if guard is pinned back. Useful mod for quick, relatively rough work.
I bought this power cicular saw to replace the previous similar model which I used continuously for over 20 years. It broke because of my maintenence negligence. This saw is every bit as good as the original and performs admirably. It came with a TCT saw blade which is very good for all woods and some plastics. Avoid nails and hard bits, even though the blade will cope short term.
I recommend this saw to all DIY enthusiasts and for light professional use.
