Does what it’s supposed to do. Nice cool breeze blowing when filled with ice and water. Relatively easy to clean afterwards. Pipe is a bit fiddly but easy once done a few times
I wasn’t expecting much considering it’s an air cooler and not an aircon, I thought it would work just like a fan but it honestly feels more like an aircon
I bought something similar last year and it was a bit disappointing
This buddy tho, definitely worth it, it cooled my living room and I plan on getting one more for my bedroom
Since having this product in my bedroom, I sleep much better as the temperature is kept lovely and cool. The benefit of it being lightweight means I can move it from room to room with ease but, most importantly, gone are the sleepless nights I used to have.
Fill the tank with cold water, turn it on and enjoy the cool air. Swing feature and directional blades helps to cool an average size room nicely. In my opinion definitely value for money.
Initially the swing wasnt working. pressing the button only worked if I held the button down. it wasnt clicking in place.
Turns out the silver cover was preventing me from fully pressing the button down to latch it.
Pulling the silver button cover off and rotating by 180 degress and replacing back into the switch then allows me to fully press the button down and it latches.
Ditto for the Cool button as well.
So a final assembly issue.
This only applies to the mechanical version with the buttons.
The unit does work provided you can use a few ice packs (from camping for fridges) along with cold water (run the tap for a bit to get colder tap water and use this to fill up the 7 litre container.
alternatively chucking loads of ice into the water container with some water and a few ice packs also works but considering bags of ice cost 1 from famous stores, this could end up working out expensive over time.
Plus points :-
large water tray that lasts well over night.
Will eventually cool a bedroom. Ideally turn on a couple of hours before going to bed.
The water pump can be removed so the whole water tray can be taken out to clean the container.
Only up to 65 watts of electric used. very little compared to a full blown air con unit.
Portability.
Can just be used as a fan or even an oscillating fan.
Bad points :-
no light on the water container so you can’t tell how full the container is
No idea of where to get replacment filters from or even how often to clean the filter.
Innitial issues with the cool and swing buttons not working that turned out to be an assembly issue from the factory (I wonder how many other owners of the mechanical switch version have this issue and think the device doesnt work).
No indicator if the cool function is working other than looking around the back at the water tray to see if the water from the filter is draining back into the tank
Can be quite loud on speed setting 3
Some tips: Running this unit in a closed space is not great, you need some fresh air also entering the room to mix for the best result, the hot dry air from outside helps these air coolers function at their best.
Ice in the water compartment helps but will only last 1-2 hours, it’s a good boost if you have an extra large ice pack, sadly the included ice packs are very small and should be used alongside a larger one.
Do not expect one of these air coolers to cool the room like an air con of the same size you are in, treat it as a large fan in the room with the bonus of being able to take a few drgrees off the air it’s pushing, also keep in mind these things are fairly cheap to run and can be left on all day and night.
Love the unit as it really does give out cold air. The best way to use the item is more then the ice packs provided, refrigerated water and some ice. The colder the water tank the better the unit!
Easy to set up. It’s on wheels, so it can be moved wherever.
Good if freezer blocks are put into machine, it works with or without, but freezer blocks make it even more colder. Great in a heatwave.
It kept us cool during the heat wave but a tad noisy but worth the money we paid
Bought during the summer hot spell as an emergency purchase. Visitors were staying in my back bedroom which had sun all day long and just couldn’t cool the room down. This certainly helped but to be honest only an actual air conditioning unit would have worked in that weather. Maybe it would work better if I had been able to use it before the room got so hot. Definitely better than the fans we had been using.
Wow it really work. Kept all the rooms cool to sleep in ordered 3. Really does work well especially with the cool blocks in too.
Great item.
Remote doesn’t work well when over 5ft away though.
For ice cold air you definitely need alot more ice packs. Ice cubes work better as I was making my own ice blocks up using small freezer bags. Done the job required lovely
The good: it’s quite nice looking, and despite the warehouse description saying it would have cosmetic damage there is none that I can see. its light and manoeuvrable and definitely cools the air. I have a large open plan living room, and it cools about as well as a large fan does there but its much better in the bedroom as its a smaller space. I don’t think it’s too particularly noisy, no more than a fan, and the controls are easy to use.
The bad: I was expecting not to find the manual as described, no problem as they’re usually freely available online but mine is missing the remote and the ice packs too and you have to use the remote to set up the timer, which I had been hoping to do when I go to bed as I don’t want to leave it running through the night. After spending some time on chat trying to sort it, there doesn’t seem to be an easy solution to this, so if you’re buying from the warehouse, I’d say that you should be aware there might be some missing bits.
Still. Its ok, its cooling me down, I can probably live without the remote. I could do with the exercise.
Only downfall is maximum timer of 8 hours compared to a handful of others on the market.
But as a bedbound person in a UK heatwave on 32 medicated tablets a day and a 12 month a year constant fan user. This feels like a life saver.
Looking forward to buying my next one and think every home needs one.
Believe may even help in this heat supervised in a nursery in the controversial cot death preventio
This is a good air cooler and does what it is designed for . I have seen reviews where someone mentioned the product as useless and think a comparison can never be made to an aircon. The principle of cooling is based on latent heat and does work as I used it recently during extreme hot days . Please note , It does need a good few hours running if you expecting the room to cool else enjoy sitting in front of a cool blast of air .
The only con I see is The flashing green led light and there should be an option to turn that off as it is distracting and disturbs if used as a bedroom fan . I got around for now by placing a book over it . This problem wouldn’t exist for those buying manual mode cooler .
Value for money: I got it for just over 83 which I think is fair. The fan is a extremely powerful and more powerful than my standard fan. Also, my standard fan was just blowing around hot air but the air cooler actually works at cooling the air! I’ve been using ice and additional ice packs along side the two ice packs that comes with it. The fact it serves as a humidifier also is a bonus.
Ease of use: extremely simple to use. Fill with water, press the buttons and off you go! The water tank is fiddly to remove so it is easier to fill it with a jug keeping it attached to the machine. I opted for the manual version without a remote as I didnt want to pay extra for a remote than I knew I’d soon lose. I do like the ‘swift’ option which blows the air side to side.
Noise: it’s quiet on speed 1 and 2 but it quite loud on speed 3. However, I don’t think it’s much louder than a standard fan on speed 3. I’ve been leaving it on speed 3 and sleeping through with no problem
