Braun IPL silk-expert Mini is a top of the range IPL (laser) hair removal machine.

It is a cute pink and white lightweight device which comes packed inside an attractive box (great for gifting). This IPL Mini also comes with power lead, pink drawstring pouch, Venus razor handle and blade plus a comprehensive instruction leaflet.

The device itself measures 14 cm in length and 7 cm in width … small enough to be very comfortable in the hand.

This machine is very easy to use however I would strongly recommend doing a skin patch test first.

I’ve been using this machine around 2 months now and the results have been good. I mainly using this for leg hairs below the knee and now there is hardly any regrowth.

This device can be used almost anywhere on the body and I’m sure that most people will achieve the same excellent results that I am.

    Highly recommended.

The review is from my wife :

This Hair Removal Machine comes in a nice box; the design is lovely, looks very poss, and makes it very much giftable.

The device seems well made appears to be of decent quality. It is simple to use; however, I suggest you read the instruction manual because there are many helpful and safety instructions to follow, and they are evident.

I have been using this device for about a month now. It takes me about 8-10 minutes to do my legs and 6-7 minutes to do each arm. I already noticed a slight reduction in hair growth on my arms and legs.
I can see it works slowly but consistently for me, and I do not doubt that the result will be perfect after I finish my 12 weeks of treatment.

The device is easy to use, for large areas, like legs and arms; however, it’s a bit difficult to use in some small spaces as the device is big, which is good as its covers quite a large area at a time.

Overall, I don’t have any issues with this device so far, and I will update my review if I notice anything to mention.

I hope this review helps you to make a purchasing decision.

A super choice for hair removal – having spent a lifetime on the search for the Holy Grail of hair removal, I think I am the happiest I have ever been.
Shaving, waxing, depilating, hair removal cream – tried it all.
Finally, with time, effort and some patience, I am seeing results with this and I am over the moon. My legs are soft and the hairs are softening too and receding all the time. There are no quick results and there are considerations with hair colour and skin colour, but the results are worthwhile. You simply need to put in the time.
I am about 10 weeks in and have got visible results on my lower legs. I’m thrilled.
The IPL is easy to hold, and the flashes are nice and quick. It glides over the skin and there are 3 different intensity levels for you to find the right one for you.
Well worth it – I only have good things to say about this.
Well packaged, good quality, great value and highly recommended. A great choice.

    Brilliant device!
It does what it says. I have been using it for more than a month, and it can improve my unwanted hair.
They haven’t been a disaster yet but grow much slower and thinner. I am using it for the chin, underarms, legs and bikini area, and it works in every room.
It is pain-free and does not suffer any pain or uncomfortable feelings—just warm light on the skin.
For small areas such as an underarm or bikini, use the spot method, and for larger ones like legs, go through. My skin’s white and has back hair, which works for me. Sometimes have to play around because I do not always catch the spot, but it doesn’t take a lot of time. I can do all procedures in 10min and do them every week. It also comes with a little pink bag where you can store it, it doesn’t take up a lot of space in the draw.
Please check the colour chart before ordering.
    Definitely worth of money!

    It does.the job

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSince I was in my mid 30s I have had the odd dark hair pop up on my chin. As I am female I don’t really want to have hair on my chin. I used to pluck them out, but I struggle now as my eyesight is getting worse. I have to resort to shaving them.
The hairs are quite coarse and seem to pop up overnight. I have wanted to try one of these as a permanent solution but the cost was prohibitive. When I was offered one to review I was delighted.
This device does not work on all hair colours or skin tones. There is a chart on the listing that shows the recommend types. I have a medium skin tone and brown hair.
This device comes with a razor, you need to shave the area that you are treating first. You can only treat a small area at a time. This is ideal for my chin, but doing my legs would take ages. It is very easy to use. I am not very technically minded, but the instructions are very easy to follow.
It takes weeks, sometimes months to see the full extent of the results. I think that it is starting to work though.
It is currently priced at 300, which is expensive. It is a lot cheaper than paying for it to be done. If it works for you though then it can potentially save you money on other hair removal products.

I have been thinking about getting laser treatment professionally. But the cost just scares me off. This home use hair removal kit is the perfect solution for a fraction of professional cost. And you will be amazed with the results. Its been 3 months for me, and I can visibly see the hair growth reduction. And its literally pain free and hassle free to use.

I’m a fan of Braun beauty products, I’ve always found them well made and good quality, and this hair removal IPL device is as good as I hoped it would be, and of course so it should be given the price!

I have tried various brands of IPL devices over time, from well known brands to no name brands, and I can honestly say this device is my favourite by far, mainly because it’s compact and very easy to use with the SensoAdapt technology that automatically and continuously adapts to skin tone in use. I’ve used high end brands before that have been able to detect skin colour and then you choose the setting to match it, but this one is much better as fully automatic, which is ideal, especially as you have different colour skins tones dependent on where on your body it is being used. So you don’t have to test for each area, as I said so much easier.

The IPL device needs plugging in to use, rather than being rechargeable, and I assume that it because the IPL process itself uses high energy light beams that couldn’t be provided through a rechargeable device, as I’ve never used one yet that is rechargeable, that would be the ‘holy grail’ of IPL devices!

Using the IPL unit, is simple and straight-forward, but if you’ve never used an IPL device on your skin before, you will need to do a test patch and wait 48 hours before a treatment, to ensure there is no adverse reaction. So once you’ve done your test, 48 hours later you can start your first treatment once the treatment area is shaved (Venus razor supplied, or use you’re own method), and then you’re ready to set off and use. The IPL device has two ways of working, which is continuous or stamp method. Continuous works easily in large areas such as legs or arms, but smaller areas, such as underarm I used the stamp method.

The IPL process couldn’t be simpler in glide mode, just hold the light treatment window to your leg (or any other part of the body you’re treating) and then depress the flash treatment button whilst keeping full window contact with the skin; the device will regularly fire as you go (as long as you’re keeping the button pressed). Sometimes it didn’t fire, and then I just repositioned the device, taking my finger off the flash button and re-pressed and it continued again. It does have a safety feature, so the light window needs to be fully in contact with the skin before it will flash to ensure safe use. For the stamp mode, you just do as glide, except press and release the flash button every time you re-position the device.

One thing I want to mention is that you do have to be careful with certain medical conditions, especially ones where you are photo-sensitive, such as epilepsy (see photo for list of medical conditions it’s not recommended for). But, I have photo-sensitive migraines and I have been fine, but I did take precautions by wearing sunglasses and always looking away from the light flashes (not that anyone should be looking at them directly anyway!) and have managed OK with it. Also, it’s not suitable for all skin and hair types, and I’ve uploaded a photo of the relevant page in the guide for info.

The process of IPL removal isn’t quick if you want good results, you have to invest the time to get good coverage (4-12 weeks using once a week initially until you see hair growth reduction, then maintenance every 1-2 months). This is actually quicker than other devices I’ve had with a lower frequency of sessions required, which is very welcome. It is worth the effort and can save you many hundreds of pounds over time doing it at home rather than going to a salon (and just think how much time that takes!), so though it’s quite a costly initial investment, it pays for itself many times over, especially as you can treat nearly your entire body over time.

Overall this is a great home treatment beauty product that works very well and is super easy to use. Yes an investment, but well worth it, as it’s the best I’ve used. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best IPL device I’ve used

My wife naturally has very little body hair, (unlike like me)! But this is doing a good job on the little that she does have, mostly on her legs. One month in and you can see that this is working. You need to read the instructions, take you time and be patient. Still expensive even with 45 percent off, but it could be worth it in the long ru

Have tried a boat tonne of epilators now and this is far and away the best. Most efficient; most ergonomic; best build quality, and really does work well.

It’s not cheap, but if you’re going to send magic lightning into your hair follicles, you definitely want to be safe about it and, when it comes to epilators, you really do get what you pay for.

    Thoroughly recommended.

Braun IPL mini machine arrived neatly packed in a black cardboard box with colourful outer packaging.
In the box there is IPL mini machine with charging cable, pink travel pouch and handle for venus razor without blades (useless as it is).
IPL machine is nicely designed with shape comfortable to hold in the hand when in use.
It is adaptive with 3 levels of intensity. Even though it is a mini version it is powerful and fit for purpose.
Easy to use. But skin must be prepared for a treatment- clean shave.
I must admit that it is a weird feeling, when used for the first time. Gentle but a bit painful. Like small electric shock, leaving skin slightly red. It gets better though.
Sessions needs to be repeated every week for a period of time to effectively reduce hair appearance. It needs about 4 weeks to notice a big difference but it is well worth the effect as results are staying for the long time. Recommended.

    Effective

This arrives in a smart black cardboard box with a full colour sleeve over it, measuring approx 27.5cm x 10cm x just under 16cm.

It would be easy to wrap & looks like a very nice gift.

Inside the box, you get the machine itself, the lead, an instruction leaflet, a folded pink drawstring bag to put all the bits in, a venus razor handle and a single blade.

I have a non mini version of this as well as this mini one.
They are almost exactly the same, however this one only has one size of head (which is like the larger size on the other Braun machine.)

I tested both of them for a month – one on my left hand side & one on my right hand side & they appear to have produced identical results.
After 4 weekly sessions, I have noticeably less regrowth & hairs coming through on the areas I have used it on.
As life isn’t fair to women as we get a little older, hairs like to sprout in weird & wonderful places (like one annoying outlier in my cleavage) & IPL has so far solved that problem.
I’ll continue to use this to zap any other irritants who dare to pop up where no woman wants to find a hair, as previously plucking or shaving them just seemed to encourage them.

Both machines are excellent as long as you read the instructions & follow with care.

This is very easy to use, about 14cm long (not including the lead which cannot be removed), about 7cm wide & a little under 5cm at the deepest part, so fairly comfortable in the hand.

I chose not to use this one on my face (IPL is only suitable at home for use below the cheekbones on women & below the shoulders on men) as I preferred the smaller head on the larger machine.

For long term hair removal, I would highly recommend these machines, although I would personally pick the non mini version as I prefer the smaller head.

I wasn’t sure what to expect having not used anything like this before, but I didn’t need to worry as it was simple and straight forward. The most hassle was having to shave first. The device does get hot and I found I needed to use the “stamp function” on under arms and bikini line, but still no where near as sore as waxing. I’m a few weeks in and starting to notice a slowing down of hair growth. I’ll need to wait 3 months or so to see the full effect.

To be honest, this is the first time I have tried a similar hair removed instrument, I am satisfied with its effect. After all Braun with good reputation and is trustworthy. It’s small, with a storage bag and a razor, but strangely it does not include a blade.

It can depilate hair on different body parts. It’s also super simple to use. First, clean the hair you want to remove with a razor. After turning on the machine, it will automatically identify the gear required by the part and give out the corresponding color light. Finally, after hair removal, remember to apply body lotion or aloe gel to keep the skin moist.

So far I have used it three times. You will find that it’s effective. The growth speed of those hairs has indeed become slow and thin. Although this hair remover looks expensive, I think it is worth it. After all, you get what you pay for.

    Arrived well packaged.

This is one of those products when you cannot just wing it – let’s face it, this is pulsed light, bit like a laser, and you wouldn’t go flashing that around would you. Same goes with this, read the blurb and instructions, check, then reread them and above all, be careful. It’ll show great results (really zero hair after a time) so goodbye, eventually, to waxing, epilating, shaving and tweezering. For older ladies like me, being able to use it on pesky chin hairs (thanks, menopause) and top lip moustaches, is fabulous. And even after a relatively short time, this is showing results.
I’ve had an IPL previously, not a brand name so I was even more careful and it was patchy. So far, the Braun is living up to the expectations we all have of such a well known brand, and I just wish this has been an option years ago when I was young and confident in my body instead of hiding it under baggy clothes
Yes it’s expensive, yes you have to check your colouring and hair colour to ensure it’ll work for you, but yes, it’s worth it. I can’t give it all 5 stars as this is an investment type of purchase, and takes weeks if not months to show decent results. But it’s reliable, it works and with practice, patience and care, you’ll finally get rid of hair where you don’t want it.

Love this mini hair remover, been using it a few weeks and can already see a difference in underarm and leg hair. It is very compact and light so it is very easy to hold in your hand. It comes with cute pink pouch , so it is very easy storage for traveling and a venus razor. It is completely painless and very comfortable to use as well. This machine as it isn’t actually pulling the hairs out, it uses pulses of light to zap the roots. I have been using this laser hair remover for a few weeks and it is all good so far, it is seems that hair regrowth has already slowed and hopefully it won’t be long until I can ditch the razers and waxing alltogether. My only negative about the product would be that it isn’t wireless, I feel like I have to sit by a plug to do, however it wouldn’t put me off using the product at all.

This is a good well made item.
It’s easy to use as the instructions are clear. So I’ve just followed them!
I started on my legs as I was nervous and that was fine so I’ve tried on my face too. So far so good!
It’s easy to use and emits a light to stop hair growth.
It does give off a slight smell of burning hair after using but from what I have read that is normal.
It works best on dark hair .
It will take about three months of use to see that it has really worked so I will continue to use and see.
    Seems good so far!

It is very important to check whether this device will work for your skin and hair type before shelling out an eye watering 300 for it. I have fair skin and dark hair so that’s ok.

I have used one of these devices before and know that the key to success is patience and being thorough. You have to go slowly and carefully over each skin patch to ensure that you cover the whole area you want to treat. I find it easier to use on the bikini area and legs than on my underarm area as it is a bit trickier to see what I am doing there. But over time this does really work.

I find that some hair goes forever but some returns over time. But then you start again and have a smaller area to work on. And the high cost of the product has to be offset against the reduced cost of razors and wax strips that you hopefully won’t need in the future. So for me it works really well but you need to check before you buy.

This ipl hair removal system is suitable for most skin types except very dark skins and very light skins (pale blonde and red hair).

It’s simple to use. Remove hair then plug in so that it starts a fan noise then stamp onto the area or smooth across the area.

To see whether your skin is suitable you hold it against your skin and the light around the power button will change colour, so for my mixed race medium skin tone it turns pink on my legs and white on my arms as they see more sun.

You use this once a week initially on skin that has no skin condition such as eczema, vitiligo and psoriasis etc or a chronic medical condition etc. The booklet included tells you everything you need to know.

I am trying this on my chin where I get a few dark hairs. Once the device is ready, I press the button to stamp and I feel a sting of heat which is initially a shock. This will happen each time but you get used to it. Obviously it takes time to see the results but it’s simple to use. There isn’t an off button so just unplug.

You get a lovely pouch to store this in too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hopefully will have good results

I have used something similar to this before and I know that the key to being successful is time and patience, so a full review as to the success of this isn’t possible for at least couple of months, but I will share what I know so far.

This is made by Braun, so the quality is undoubtedly there; it feels well-made, is comfortable to hold and simple to use. It has a convenient storage/carry case and I do like the fact they’ve included a razor. The instructions are quite basic, but that can be a good thing, as they’re not scary for someone new to this.
To prepare, just shave the skin on the area you want to treat, press the hair remover against the skin, wait for the light to show that the contact is correct, press the button and move onto the next area. One thing I’ve found that helps is using a white eye-liner pencil to draw guide-lines, to help you position the device correctly, especially on areas such as the legs, where it’s easy to go off course.

There are a few not-so-good things with this. The first is the time that it takes; you have the usual shaving time, but as the area you can treat is only a few cms at a time, it does take a while; you can get into a rhythm, which does speed it up, and even into glide mode, which is quicker again, but it still requires time and patience, especially for the first few weeks. Secondly, results aren’t guaranteed, as it’s heavily dependent on the difference between the colour of your skin and your hair; even if you’re pale-skinned and dark haired with a few lighter ones mixed in, it won’t work on the lighter ones. Thirdly, it’s not cordless, so where you can use it is restricted to the availability of plug sockets and/or extension leads. Fourthly, it’s difficult to see where you have just treated and to position the device correctly for the next blast, so you’re not missing bits, or overlapping areas too much. You can press the device against the skin to leave a slight mark to judge the next placement by, but it’s not perfect. Fifthly, you need to be consistent and give this months to actually work; it’s not a quick fix, as its effectiveness is also dependent on where the hair is in its growth cycle. And lastly although the results can be long-lasting, they’re rarely permanent, as anything can kick-off a new set of hair follicles, especially things such a menopause.

At the time of writing this review, the cost is 300 on offer, which is an eye-watering amount of money on something that may work for you, and may not.

This is my sister’s review and she has mainly used Philips Lumea in the past and they are clearly one of the market leaders. Braun though is a highly reputable and trustworthy manufacturer who make quality products. First things first, this is not suitable for all skin types so do check it is suitable for your skin before purchasing. My sister says ‘It comes with a shaver to remove the longer hair and then you use the IPL device. It looks and feels well made, as one would expect of Braun). It is compact. It is light. It is comfortable to hold and very easy to use. It comes with a travel pouch and is portable. It is much gentler than using a shaver or an epilator. It is painless. It can be used on all parts of the body. It has different levels of intensity. It should last for many years and I would expect it to. I have only just started to use it for a few days but having used these devices before I am confident that this will work well and slow down hair growth. A great little device and I am delighted with it”.

Well, where do I start! I began trying this product for the first time and I am so pleased with the results. I haven’t used this style of hair removal before so I was a bit nervous about how it all works.

Every women have the biggest concern – unwanted hair especialy on legs and when is summer – all wants to wear dresses or shorts, but sometimes hair on the legs can be disturbing issue. I don’t like to shave it, as after 24 hours it looks like a beard – sharp and annoing. Was looking for soliution with permanent result.

The first thing I liked was the simplicity of it. Simple to follow instructions and not really any set up required. Too much info with something like this would start freaking me out. Within minutes I knew exactly what I needed to do.

I trialled it on my leg first and it was so easy and comfortable. The device itself feels of great quality and it’s a perfect shape for sitting comfortably in your hand. it’s best to take your time at first and take it steady. I particularly want to use this for my neck and chin.

I used the razor to take off the surface hair and pressed the gadget against my skin until the light for the skin reader changed colour then simply press the button and it’s done, you just need to move onto the section section.

The only bit I found hard to gauge was if I overlapped an area as the plastic housing around the IPL lens makes it a bit harder to judge. Don’t be alarmed at the slight smell of burning hair too as I think this is pretty normal.

My skin was slightly pink after use but it soon went down. I’d recommend planning your use as I’d say it’s best to let skin breath after use if using on face. I love the carry pouch everything fits in snuggly.

The Silk-Expert mini is compact, easy to handle and easy to learn to use. I haven’t used it long enough to see the full results but am already seeing a reduction in hair growth after a few sessions. I would say that my tone and growth are an ideal fit for IPL (fair skin and dark body hair) so results will depend on the individual. Only other downside is that it’s not cordless.

I’m looking forward to seeing the results at the moment I’m using once per week as the instructions suggest. This gadget by Braun is excellent, it’s a perfect size to take travelling if needed and it’s extremely easy to use. The packaging the extras that it came with are also a real benefit when using this device. I am continuing to use the gadget as this is a process in terms of hair removal, I would definitely recommend this to a friend
