This is easily the best shaver I have ever used. And I have had quite a few being aged 93. It gives a closeness of shave, closer than any of the others of various makes that I have had. I am sorry I did not buy it before.
Found this electric shaver one of the best out there. Real close shave without the bumps and burns from a razor. Ideal for someone with sensitive skin and for everybody who prefers the look of a daily shave without the ingrown hair and skin sensitivity. Very impressed I must say.
he best shaver that i have used, much better than my phillips
I’ve used electric razors in the past, tried different manufacturers but always returned to Braun with the ‘Clean & Charge’ system.
I started shaving my head when I was about 25 (I’m 54 now!) and I found that the electric razors just couldn’t cut close enough. So I’ve been using a blade for many years. But it’s a messy and time consuming business. My hair growth is a bit strange so I have a very specific way of shaving otherwise the hairs stay in place.
Idly browsing the new electric razors, I found this and got very excited when reading the reviews, as people have said specifically it was great for head shaving. So I thought I’d give it a try.
I had about 5 days growth on the day I received it (I’m on holiday, not naturally scruffy!), so I thought this would be a good test.
Wow. Just…wow. It took me about 10 minutes to go over my face and head, and whilst it isn’t as smooth as a blade, it’s pretty close. It’s definitely the best electric razor I’ve ever used. And so much easier and cleaner than a blade and foam which is what I have been using.
I love it!
Thanks for listening.
It’s a shame that this uses an awkward proprietary charger. It would be such much better with USB-C charging (as almost everything else now is…).
At 64 I must have owned a dozen electric shavers, none of them, despite fancy marketing, were much good so I didn’t go into this with high expectations.
I was wrong – although it’s quite noisy, far from cheap, and (irritatingly) comes with a 2 pin plug, it’s actually a brilliant shaver. A bit of shaving oil on the skin, stretch the skin tight as you would with a wet shave, and it’s brilliant. Shaves as close as a traditional good traditional razor, and better by far than either cheap wet razors or any other electric shaver I’ve ever used. Happy customer !
I have had multiple electric razors in the the past 40 rears and this razor is a clear cut winner!!!
Have used Philips rotary for most of my shaving life, but didn’t like the current designs and couldn’t get a good replacement head. So decided to go for this Braun. Absolutely brilliant shaver by comparison and the battery seems to remain charged for ever!.
This is the best electric razor I have owned, including a few older Braun models.
It is comfortable to hold and use, and you can lock the head, or allow it to float.
Very easy to clean and can be used wet or dry. The battery lasts for ages. I’m on holiday for a couple of weeks and am confident that the charge will last the holiday.
Supplied with a charger stand, brush and semi-rigid case, it is a quality razor that should provide years of service.
Purchased a Philips rotary shaver earlier this year as my first electric razor. I have been impressed with it, but fancied giving a decent Braun a try. Purchased one of these Series 9 “Pro” models and gave it a go. Wow!! Double Wow!! The Philips shaved close. This is closer still. And a lot quicker. I cannot believe how close this things shaves. It’s amazing. I honestly didn’t think an electric razor could shave this close.
What a great piece of kit! it feels so good to use this shaver, I only shave twice a week but in the month I’ve had this shaver I’ve not had to charge it since the first time I charged it pre use, not once had it caused a rash or ingrown hairs, it leaves a tiny bit more hair than a razor but I can live with that as this is really convenient to pickup and use in the shower without getting shaving foam or a mirror ready, the precision trimmer is a great feature too for side burns and moustache trimming
In my opinion you get what you pay for and at this price point its one of the best in class without a doubt so I highly recommend!
A well built shaver, you can feel it is made of premium materials and the build quality is excellent. There is a little switch in the back that you can flick to activate a little trimmer for neatening a beard or moustache. A very sharp shaver unlike many electric ones. It is probably the last electric shaver I will ever need
If you’re a bald man (due to alopaecia) this will save you a lot of time. Just run it around your head and you are good to go in no time. It’s also effective on facial hair of course but head hair is obviously finer and quick to remove.
It’s quick to charge and looks good. Cleaning is straightforward too. Would be a much appreciated gift or an upgrade for yourself (note there is apparently not much difference in results between this and the slightly earlier Series 7, so only consider an upgrade if replacing yours anyway.
The Braun Pro 9417S gives an extremely close shave with minimal effort, even with a several day beard growth in my experience. The shaver feels well balanced and is comfortable to hold whilst shaving. The precision trimmer makes detailing easy of sideburns, and the headlock allows me to get an extremely close shave in those awkward places such as underneath the nose. This pro shaver gives me double the amount of shaving time, compared to all previous shavers that I have owned. I am getting approximately 6 shaves out of one full charge, it does notify you with an audible beep to let you know that you have one battery bar remaining and on the display it shows how many minutes are left. The shaver can be plugged in with the included charging cable that measures approximately 90 cm or you can place it on the charging stand, which takes 60 minutes for a full charge. I clean the shaver Once a week, and then spray it with Braun’s cleaning aerosol for a thorough clean and lubrication. Overall in my opinion this Braun pro 9417S gives a superb close shave, even around the neck area. I hope you have found my video and review helpful.
Well this is not a cheap shaver so I would expect it to be pretty good and to be fair it is. Beautifully crafted, solid and classy in style and very comfortable to hold in the hand. It gives a very very good shave on my medium to course beard and although you cannot compare it to the finish you would get with a wet shave, it performs especially well for an electric. I charged it on opening, although it did not seem to be necessary and I have used it daily for the past few weeks. The battery is still going strong I am happy to say and the quick charge time is a definite bonus. Heads are not cheap to replace as with most shavers of this price point, but with luck and a bit of care, that will not need doing for a long time. I see that the RRP is quite a bit higher than the price currently charged on Amazon and for its price now I would say it represents decent value. For the full price, I would feel it was overly expensive.
I’ve been considering the shaver now for a few days and the difficulty with a shaver is each person is different, their faces and hair etc etc
So, as a package its great. You get the shaver, case and charging stand.
Charging is quick and operation straight forward.
For me the results are superb. These days I tend to wet shave with a DE blade but travel or urgency sometimes necessitate something quicker that won’t cut my face to ribbons.
The shaver is easy to hold and the head contours nicely around the face. The shave is close without being irritatingly so and a few passes generated results perfectly fine for a day in work.
Cleaning and lubrication are key and as long as you regularly clean the razer it will last and perform ages. To that end you can by cans of Braun spray cleaner or invest in the version that comes with the clean and charge stand. very worth it for a fresh shave each time.
Easy to see why this is one of the kings of electric shavers
My son who had always used shavers like these, made the change to blades last year and having got the hang of that, declared he preferred it to electric shavers but was happy to put this through it’s paces.
It was charged already, straight out of the box and he has found that a single charge which only takes an hour lasts him for weeks but this will depend on how often you use it.
Using it daily it’s brilliant and gives a really close shave that’s quick and painless and being waterproof you can even use it in the shower but he didn’t feel that he got as smooth with it as he does with a blade.
Then when he tried using it every three days, he initially complained that there definitely WAS tugging and he was all set to go back to his blades when he suddenly found that it was working much better and I can only assume that there’s a technique to it, or even simply a case of finding a method that works best for your individual face contours and that once you’ve got used to it, it really is relatively tug-free even with 3 -day old stubble. It’s a great shaver, and comfortable to hold, simple to operate but also quite expensive and we’re not entirely sure it warrants such a hefty price. Our verdict is that he’ll definitely use it occasionally but still prefers the wet shave with a blade. If however, you really don’t like using blades and only ever use electric shavers, and the price isn’t an issue, then this is definitely a great shaver to try!
I hate shaving, so anything that makes the process quicker/easier/more comfortable is greatly appreciated.
This shaver has definitely made the process quicker and easier compared to other shavers or using a razor (less cutting my skin – I’ve got sensitive skin), even if there is the occasional tugging of hair.
Having said that, my hair is thicker than most people’s, so is something to keep in mind as I’m reviewing this (also why a star is lost).
I haven’t measured the total shave time per charge, but so far with 3 days of use (5-7 minutes each time), the indicator is showing 60% – so I imagine you’d get 2 weeks of shaving (Monday to Friday) out of one charge.
The 5 minute quick charge function is appreciated, useful for if you have forgotten to charge up.
All in all, it’s a lovely device, but definitely not cheap.
