    As a 70 plus pensioner I was not sure I would be able to set up these cameras on my own, pleasantly surprised very simple instructions and I got both working in 10 mins. Great cameras picture and sound excellent versatile able to control settings with ease. Overall very impressed.

    I supplied and installed these for one of my telecoms customers. Nice product and seem very efficient. The model below this one I’ve had around 500mb on a virgin network in the past.
    Quite expensive ill buy another spare set on Prime Day I think.

    Works well. As the title says. This mesh system uses Wi-Fi 6 for connecting the discs but only uses 2.4 and 5g for downloading. Plugging directly into the Ethernet I was getting about 500mb download over 5g. Have them split over the upstairs and downstairs. Still have a power line from the main router into a
    Gigabit switch for tv xbox streaming boxes. The first day or so the connections were a bit up and down. But seems to have sorted itself out and has a very constant data throughput for each of the discs.

    Perhaps some might say it’s a bit expensive but when everyone is trying to use the Wi-Fi at the same time, these are worth every penny !

    This product was better than expected. We live in a property with thick stone wall, almost 2 foot thick. BT Whole home premium worked as though they went there. The hose is large on two floors, so I did have to buy another box of 3 to get full coverage. Very easy to set up. The app guides you through the set. Excellent !

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this product on December 2022 to replace the BT mini whole home. The mini whole home was great but it can struggle if your house has a lot of solid walls. I planned to use this product in a way that my PC that doesn’t have wireless was able to connect via ethernet using the port on the disc however, do not use this as it causes problems with the system. When I turned my PC on it would cause the wifi disc that the PC was connected to disconnect and and effect the mesh system. I got a replacement order from amazon to correct the issue and this too was affected by the same issue. I don’t know why as I used the ethernet port on the mini hub and it worked fine. Maybe I’ve missed something in the instructions. I’ve now got my PC setup via wireless and the performance from the mesh system is really top notch with wide coverage. I have alot of devices connected including CCTV systems and I think the product is worth it if you have a 1 GB Internet connection and need wireless across the property. 5 stars for the replacement devices and support from Amazon. They are wonderful. Speed test from a decent distance (one floor for the disc) to show signal strength.

    Had to return as one disk was faulty. After setting up the main disk by connecting directly with my Vodafone router all other disks are connected using the WPS button, which worked OK for one disk but the other woud not connect even though it was flashing green as it should. Have ordered a replacement so will be able to give better review once I have had the chance to set it all up correctly and test it properly!
    New set has arrived and needed to reset the main disk that connects by ethernet cable to my Vodafone router the other 2 disks connected automatically, one at a time through the App, without asking me to press the WPS button. Not sure why the setup procedure differed between the 2 sets? Time will tell how well these perform.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersNot too sure what to say about this bit of kit. I had the previous version Whole Home mini dual band AC1200 with 4 disks – perfectly adequate really – stable in a 4 bedroom 2 storey house about 60 connected devices (25 permanent – the rest intermittent). I recently had a FTTH (Zoom 450) connection installed and it exposed the a) the weakness of BT Broadband and secondly that whole home mini dual band set up was struggling with PS5 and multiple streaming devices so I took the plunge and bought a try band 3700 set up with 3 disks.
    They are larger than the mini’s – about 3 time the volume really – with larger power blocks too.
    Set up was a doddle – used the same app on my phone and changed the name of the default network on the new disks to my previously used one and hey presto – seamless switch over.
    The main issues I encountered at the beginning was when I had two of the new disks powered up at the same time during set up – this made it frustrating and slow to go through the set up – One I turned the second disk off all was easy and quick.

    How does it work – well its is very stable- and blistering in speed compared to the mini disk set up.
    It is early days with the mesh set up and 3 disks but the speed across all devices is now excellent – My teenager reckons that its as quick as LAN on his PS 5 and jitter and ping are vastly improved.

    Impressed really.

    Works well but unlike the whole home WiFi discs from BT (Back ones) one of the white docs needs to be by the hub. In the whole home WiFi package from BT the hub acts as the first disc. This system has the advantage you can add additional discs. This I have done by buying 2nd hand on eBay, I now have 5 discs, all computers are hardwired into hubs so a very good very fast and stable broadband. What you have coming into the hub you have at all the discs. So in rural Norfolk that’s 71mb with BT Business . Recommend you look on eBay has several discs/complete packages for sale there at half the retail and easy to set up by th app.

    After a lot of research I decided to go for the BT Whole Home Premium system because
    a: It was a Tri-Band System
    b: You could hang the discs on the wall.

    Installation was pretty staightforward using the BT App. Once up and running the system installed he latest updates – there was a bit of a problem during this process as the LED status lights indicated the update was not complete. After searcing the support site it suggested a restart (despite the admin screen saying do not restart!). Once this was done all was fine.

    In terms of coverage, I bought an additional disk as four discs were recommended for the size of house (Large 6 Bedroom) – as it turned out three disks were abosulutely fine in my case – if you have very thick internal walls you may need more. As yet I have not intalled the fourth disk but will probably use it to give better coverage in the garden.

    Stability wise, so far it has been rock solid. Speed is excellent – download speeds are the similar to the speed of a wired connection directly to the router (in this case a BT Home Hub).

    Coming back to the choice of a Tri_band system – I hope to upgrate to full fibre to property soon and the tri-band system will be able to utilize the increased speed and capacity.

    A final point – the discs are not stylish designer objects but for me, wall mounting was important as I did not want to clutter up surfaces with Wifi equipment no matter how fancy they looked.

    I recommend this system based on my experience.

    Very easy to install, slightly cheaper on Amazon than direct from BT. Only been using it for a couple of weeks, so far so good. Signal from 1st disc to the second disk was a little hit & miss but once in the right position it seems ok considering it’s in a 3 bedroom bungalow with solid internal walls.

    I bought the BT Mesh to replace a powerline TPLInk 8630 Kit which kept freezing and had to be rebooted nearly every day. The BT Mesh was easy to set and gives me the full ISP up and down speed in every room of a large 3 story house with one disk on each floor. What I like about this mesh is that you do not have to set the ISP router into modem only mode, as is required by most other makes of mesh, so I can still use the router to provide connections via ethernet to desktop machine and printer. I just disabled the Wifi on the router. Most of the mesh networks do not provide many Ethernet ports. In addition the provided steel stand can also be used to hang the disk on the wall if there is nowhere to stand it. It is quite expensive but seems to work very well.

    This system is mostly excellent – I wanted to hard wire one disc in a remote location and this proved a little tricky.

    After a few days of annoying niggles I have the system up and running as it should be and it seems to be stable (touch wood).

    I would say that if you want a simple mesh solution this product is great – if your system will include one or more hard wired access points this may not be the best choice

    I was apprehensive about purchasing this product due to the mix of reviews, particularly regarding using this with a virgin media hub 3.

    I found this product relatively easy to set up, just plug in and connect the first disk to your router, install the app and it takes you through adding and setting up all the disks step by step.

    The app also helps you with disk placement, scanning the Wi-Fi strength from each disk location you choose, suggesting if you are too far/too close to another disk.

    I was previously offered a power line adapter from virgin to improve the signal strength in the attic (the virgin router’s Wi-Fi would not reach the attic at all). Power line kept cutting out at various points in the day which was a nightmare. BT’s whole home Wi-Fi mesh system fixed all of my problems. It is so much faster than powerline (I was getting around 280 mbps in the attic, which was amazing, the same speed as being next to my router three floors downstairs). Zero dropouts throughout the day, made working from home enjoyable again as I use video conferencing so dropouts are very frustrating.

    The mesh network is seamless as well, can even FaceTime and walk all over the house and my devices handoff from one node to the other with no disconnection. Far superior to Wi-Fi range extenders.

    Overal extremely impressed, I have even bought 2 additional disks to expand coverage even further.

    One small issue happened after two weeks of setting up the system (therefore one star deducted for this) I woke up to find all disks were red and not working. I called BT, they were very helpful and told me that as I was using a virgin hub 3, it needed the latest firmware update. This was easily done by turning on and off the router to trigger the update on the router.

    Everything has worked perfectly since this. Highly recommend, especially when working from home and/or gaming and a fast reliable Wi-Fi speed is needed across the whole house.

    Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFirst of all, I purchased the 4 disk package which comes as a 3 disk package and a separate 1 disk add-on. Up to this point I was using powerline connectors which were a complete nightmare in terms of providing a consistent signal. Catch-up TV, Zoom and Teams Meetings were forever freezing.

    My overall impression so far is very positive but you do need to take your time with positioning the disks correctly with a bit of trial and error. The App works very well and is a great help with this.

    Here is what I learnt:

    1) Install the 3 disk package first using the App which you can download from the AppStore. The 3 disks are already paired with each other so don’t require pairing. When you have done these 3 install the 4th (separate) disk which will require pairing.

    2) My initial feeling was one of disappointment as the signal I was getting with the disk in the room was no better than the signal back to the router’s wi-fi. I then proceeded to move the disks around and used the app to identify the strength of the connection. Once you have set up the disks they will show in the App. Select the disk in the App then select Disk Details and check the Signal Strength. You’re ideally looking for something of -67 or less and the App to tell you that you have an ‘Excellent’ connection. Placing the disk next to a device (eg PC or TV) might seem like the best place to put it, but it may not be. You will undoubtedly have a strong connection between the device and the disk but if the disk itself has a poor signal then you will have average results. In my case I had to move the disk away from the device and to a location in the room where it had better signal with another disk.

    3) Be careful not to waste the disks – they’re not cheap. At one point I had a disk on either side of the same wall, one for the TV and one for the Mac in the next door room. They worked fine, but when I removed the one by the TV it was still able to connect with good signal to the disk next door.

    4) Range – I have a disk in a bedroom window with direct line of sight to another in the window of a garden office 40m away. The disk in the garden office is mostly blue (indicating good connection) but sometimes goes orange (indicating weak connection). The signal is usually between -78 and -80 which is not that great a signal however I’ve been able to stream TV and the kids have done live lessons so I am pleasantly surprised. It has been far superior to the previous powerline connection.

    Setup was just ok, it could have been perfect but two discs didn’t switch their update light off once they had updated their firmware however the network was running ok. A reboot and all discs showed a strong signal. Two tablets both over 5 years old will not logon to the main network but will join the guest one. I’m guessing that they have issues with the mix of 5 and 2.4 networks but I really should have retired theses a couple of years ago and now I have a legitimate reason to do so. I also turned off my routers own wifi. I found it it hard to believe that these units could cover all of the house and garden, especially with double thickness walls and the odd steel girder but they do I’m very pleased and the jump in speed is noticeable with no drop outs across all.

    First impressions are of a high-quality product, the box and packaging has been well thought out to give the impression that you have purchased a high-end product.
    Overall, I’ve given this product 5 stars in spite of the negative aspects of setting them up. 5 stars based on the build quality of the product and the speed of the wi-fi connection once up and running.
    I was surprised though how large each device is and also the weight was more than I expected, however no big deal really.
    The ease of set-up of the first device was really easy and as per the instructions, and only took a few minutes including the automatic firmware update. Setting up devices 2 and 3 probably took me the best part of the morning, following the instructions to the letter was getting me nowhere quick. I went on to the BT community web site for help. It’s surprising how many people have difficulty in setting these discs up. After reading about other people’s problems and solutions I tried again and again following the instructions to the letter lo and behold the devices connected to the first device and have now been connected for a few hours at the time of writing this review.
    The app to control the discs seems to be fine and has loads of options on how to control the network.
    Finally, I’m not sure what the original set up problems were, but BT has to look at this product from a set up point of view as it lets the product down and I can understand other people’s frustrations with it. I don’t know if it is the app, the instructions or the devices themselves or a combination of them all but BT needs a cold eye review on the set-up procedure.
    Anyway, once set-up the internet wi-fi connections in my house have vastly improved and in spite of the price of the 3 disc pack, I think it is worth it.
    Update – Excellent signal strength throughout the house, the hubs are very reliable and I’ve not had to reboot them once. I think the initial set up problem was due to the App connecting to my original BT hub, once I figured this out and made sure the App was connecting to the new hubs everything burst into life. Overall an excellent product.

    Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI purchased this wifi system having reviewed all current available wifi systems available including wifi 6.
    My problem was sporadic wifi coverage in my property which is a single storey cottage built 1895.
    My old system was a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router with Netgear wifi extenders. The problem with this solution is it was not capable of supporting a single wifi SSID so the extender had different wifi network names to the main router. Also coverage from the extender was not sufficient even though the signal just needed to go through a single brick internal wall.
    Wifi 6 at present is in my opinion very expensive when you consider most devices do not currently support wifi 6. I worked on the basis that in 3 years time my equipment will need replacing and I am more likely to have wifi 6 enabled devices at that time.
    The BT wifi solution is nicely packaged and the devices are simple and blend in as much as possible. Obviously, a power cable is required for each device so mounting them at high level would need a power socket at that level to hide the power cables. Downloaded the BT wifi whole home app and I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of the setup. You add the first device, position it near the router, then add the 2nd device, install it where required and the App confirms the capabilities of the 2nd WAP, then you do the 3rd WAP.
    I then performed a software update on the system – you need to learn by my mistake here. I left WAP 2 and 3 in their final location, the upgrade worked but took longer than expected and regular updates as to progress on the APP were not great but it did eventually complete. Likely impact would have been everyone in the house using the Internet while this was going on competing with my relatively low Internet bandwidth (30Mb max). There are two options here, either leave the system to do its update overnight or relocate WAP 2 and WAP 3 into the same room as the Router and WAP 1 to improve the performance.
    So back to my reason for purchasing the system, to improve wifi coverage. Previously, areas of the house had poor signal quality, dropped wifi signal at times, coverage in the garden was limited, moving around the house needed manual selection of different SSID’s or moving nearer to the router. The BT Premium system now allows me to walk throughout the house and I can roam between WAP’s without losing connectivity (Note: the App tells you which AP you are connected to, remember there is a handoff between AP’s so do not expect to walk to the next WAP and immediately connect to it. Wifi systems discover the nearer WAP, monitor signal strength initially and then hand your connection over to it after a period of time). Coverage in the garden (approx. 3/4 acre with the furthest distance being 50 Metres from the house is now very good. Not perfect and I believe I am really on the limit of the capabilities at this distance but a huge improvement to my previous system.
    If like me you don’t like the BT SSID names you can change it, you can do this through the App so no need to access the devices via a browser.
    Features I really like are –
    At a glance see the status of the wifi system, including the names you have given each WAP, number of connected devices to each WAP on the APP main page.
    Select a WAP, rename it, change the LED brightness (High, medium, Off)
    Uptime, Connection type (WAP 1 Ethernet to router, WAP 2 and 3 wirelss)
    See more detail on connected devices, also allowing you to rename each device so if you have older devices that only the default name is picked up, you can give them a meaningful name for future reference.
    Data usage is a very helpful feature, listed by device for a day, week or month, by device or groups.
    Not a feature I will use as only adults in my house but for those of you with children, you can create a group, add the kids devices to the group and then schedule pausing the internet for those devices at preset times.
    Guest wifi can be set up so you don’t have to give your main network details to anyone.
    I would rate the system overall at 4.5 out of 5. I think being Tri band really helps with the performance of the system but I did expect the range to easily cover the entire garden all the time. (Note the system does take a few days to adjust itself to give you the best setup so be patient. I think the software upgrade based on my experience could have been better and more informative during the process. Overall I am very pleased with the system and it has fully addressed my previous issues. I also see BT are frequently making improvements, releasing fixes and releasing new features.

    Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI was a bit nervous about buying these discs are seeing a lot of negative reviews. However, BT released a firmware update on 20/4/20 that has dealt with most of the issues & they are also promising an exciting roadmap.

    BT Wholehome Premium is superb value offering Triband with the latest 802.11ax superfast wifi (currently used for backhaul between discs). There are also, a number of other improvements over the standard BT Wholehome discs, including two RJ45 ethernet connections and a detachable stand that can be used for table and wall mounting.

    I’ve now installed the discs, updated the firmware and connected all my devices (Smart TVs, lots of Teckin smartplugs, Ring cameras, Sonos speakers, several Amazon Echos, Firesticks, iPads, iPhones, Android phones, laptops, games consoles etc).

    The basic installation was very easy. I did have an issue with the firmware update, which left the discs “blinking in update mode” for several hours, although I could still use the Wifi while this was happening. I used the BT Community for advice and they told me to power off and back on. This solved the problem. I also had a slight issue with Netflix support on my Smart TVs – there was a connection error to Netflix Server 1, but this has now resolved itself & working perfectly.

    It’s so nice having super fast wifi access across the whole house with just one Network ID. No “not spots”, no weak signal areas and seemless connection to the best disc as I move from one room to another. And having the 802.11ax standard should future proof me for the newer products that support this standard.

    My only real issue was that I couldn’t turn off the 5GHz access (or name the 2.4GHz & 5GHz networks separately). I have a large number of Teckin smart plugs around the house. I use these to switch on sidelights using Alexa. Unfortunately, the smart plugs only work on 2.4GHz. There is a phone app to set the smart plugs up, but your phone has to be on the same 2.4GHz network. My phone kept defaulting to 5GHz, so I couldn’t configure the smartplugs. I solved the issue, by switching off the Wholehome network and configuring the 2.4GHz channel on my BT Smarthub Router with the same name and password as my Wholehome network. I could then configure all the smartplugs using the 2.4GHz access point. I then disabled the 2.4GHz accesspoint (I could have just renamed it) on my BT Smarthub and turned on the Wholehome Network. Voila – all the Smartplugs are now connected to my Wholehome Network. Alternatively, I could have just changed the Wholehome Network name and passwords the same as my existing setup, but I wanted to change them into something meaningful for me.

    With a large network and a largish house, it was never going to be easy upgrading my wifi. But the experience with the BT Wholehome Premium has been very good and the result is brilliant.

    Don’t let the negative reviews put you off, the latest firmware has resolved most of the issues.

    Golden Review Award: 103 From Our UsersUPDATE (December 2020): So, I originally had worries that these wouldn’t last, considering how often they crashed and how hot it could get. Thankfully, after several software updates, they’ve been going strong. Even through the summer of 2020 (33 celcius days), they’ve felt warm, but never overheated. Though sadly, the set-up has not been improved. I did have to reset the devices once (again) since the updates as everything did crash in the night… around October. During that set-up, it was once again a huge pain to set-up everything, again. There is no improvement in that regard. Due to the heating not really a concern, I’m increasing the score. I’d like to give this 5 stars, but as the set-up is still not fixed, and I did have to restart two months ago, I cannot go that high. So a middle ground of 4 stars seems apt. Now, onto my original review:

    First, I’m writing on a touchscreen. So I apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes made. Getting past that, let me review this Mesh network with my usual pros, cons and neutrals.

    Pro::
    + Unpacking the device is a nice experience. You feel like you’re getting a premium product with this. Each thing is packaged neatly, in its own container, and organised for an easy setup.
    + The devices look nice, not standing out too much, and seem to leave room for ventilation. Just a shame we couldn’t get one in black, or walnut to go with cabinets.
    + WiFi signal is MUCH better than what I was getting with my virgin router. Once set up I was getting 200+Mbps, easily. Even at the far ends if the home, near the toilet where the Virgin router failed, this got a stable 40Mbps.
    + Open source software, that DOES NOT require signing go to a sketchy terms and conditions (T&C) and Privacy Policy. This is the only Mesh I’ve found with this, and it is absolutely fantastic.

    Neutrals:
    +/- Only two Ethernet ports. This is not great for those with lots of wired devices. Though if you do, you’re likely using a Switch.
    +/- The setup was a bit mixed. For the first node, things were a real annoyance. The first node kept failing to connect to the app, I had to reset, and repeats the process. The thing took neatly and hour to complete the to various issues. Then the 2nd and 3rd nodes were easy, even if the instructions were wrong. When turned on the devices quickly went into WPS mode, where the instructions wanted me to press a button. It seems that by pressing the button the sync kept failing. Just go through the set up on your phone, but ignore pressing the WPS, it is just less hassle.
    +/- The setup and maintenance of these devices seem to require the app. I’m getting no web interface, which is a shame if you don’t have an Android/IOS device. You shouldn’t be forced to require this, and a web interface can be so much more useful. I shouldn’t need to use my phone just to check/do something.

    Cons:
    – Now I find this very disappointing, but the main device, hooked to the router seems to loose connection and/or crash. Almost daily I find the device looking like its switched off, even though it is on. It’s given of no light, and is warm to the touch. I need to turn the device off and on again for things to start working as normal. So its an easy fix but annoying.
    – Another issue, but much less common. The other nodes sometimes loose connection to the main one. I need to go into the app and restart the network to fix this.

    Both these cons seemed to appear after a day or so of use. I’ve had these now for a while, and I’m afraid these could lead to further problems down the road. If these are crashing now (possibly due to heat), in winter, what’s it going to be like in the summer. When that time comes the returns period would have ended for me. So I don’t know whether I want to chance it. Plus if the device is faulty now, what about further down the road. I love the privacy and open approach to Mesh, which will lead me to look at BT products in future, but right now, these devices aren’t up to scratch.

    Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersThis is largely a fantastic product if you’ve struggled to get good wifi around the house. Having previously had to create three different wifi zones in my house – each with its own name and login – I absolutely love the ‘mesh’ system of this set-up. My devices automatically connect to the disc with the strongest signal wherever I am. I bought a third disc after the initial two for 100% coverage. I have a Virigin 200Mb service and I get AT LEAST that speed from each disc.

    Set up wasn’t TOO bad, though the written instructions are terrible and I did have to call BT’s very helpful tech support line. Once set up though, it’s beautifully easy to manage the system with a reasonable mobile app which lets you rename discs, check which device is connected to which disc at any one time, see how well each disc is performing and much more.

    My one concern (and I hope it doesn’t become a big one) is that on two occasions in the couple of weeks since I bought these, the ‘main’ disc (the one connected by ethernet to the router) has failed, with its operating light turning red instead of blue. This has required me to reboot it. This surely shouldn’t have happened once, let alone twice. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this in future.

    Were it not for this odd fault, I would give this 5 stars. It’s a brilliant system giving me outstanding, seamless wifi. But will it prove reliable enough..? Time will tell and I’ll update this review.

    P. S. I had another case of the main disc switching itself off. This time I called BT who told me that this is a known issue with the system when it’s connected to a Virgin SuperHub 3 like mine. Apparently they’re working on a firmware update to address this. Until then, you have been warned!

    UPDATE – my system is now crashing every day or two. Definitely getting worse. BT still claim to have a firmware update in the works to sort out the conflict with Virgin’s SuperHub 3. Until they do, buyer beware. I’m not returning my WholeHome set up just yet because when it works it’s fantastic. But if this crashing continues to get worse, with no news from BT, it’s going back.

    Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersRapid WiFi now pushed throughout our home! Waited a few months for this system to be released and so glad I did. We have a house which is long and narrow. Our fibre comes in at the front where the router is and the WiFi was forever dropping out in the extension at the far end of the house, in the back garden it was none existent. This 3 disc set up is all we need. The triband AX3700 title is a slight misnomer. My understanding is that the ax protocol is used for the backhaul disc-to-disc data, whereas the disc-to-device protocol uses ac. Regardless, the effect is the ability to effectively have discs with excellent connections spread around your home, which then allow fantastic WiFi connectivity to your devices. Only one disc has a good rather than excellent connection, but this is the one in our extension which is through a load bearing internal wall and the previous external double skin brick wall, and this still offers stable superb WiFi speeds from it. The app is excellent and setup a synch. It isn’t cheap, but when we pay circa 50/month for our broadband/TV/phone package it now means we can make the best use of it. Winner!

    ***Update 27th March 2020***

    After latest firmware update all 3 discs now have an “excellent” connection.

    In response to the majority of none positive reviews I read – we have a virgin media superhub 3 and have no problems at all. At one point I did think might be best to put it in modem mode (thinking less WiFi around may clean up the signal out of Ethernet connected disc). However the ethernet connected disc really didn’t like that and would not connect reliably. Once changed it back to router mode though all is absolutely fine again. I have just “forgot” my virgin network from our devices to stop any rogue attempts by devices to connect with that. Not that they would though as the BT premium network is so strong and dominant everywhere.
