The freecom device it’s a great device but the only thing that let it down was the microphone which didn’t work, I should of returned but missed the deadline

This works perfectly and has just been replaced with the 4X line I believe. It’s easy to install with multiple options and fitted with ease on my helmet. The JBL upgraded speakers have amazing clarity even when cruising at motorway speeds. Find the microphone to be a little difficult when having phone calls at higher speed but it’s serviceable otherwise! Haven’t tested the unit to unit Comms but I am strongly considering upgrading to the Packtalk Bold just because I like this so much. Battery lasts well over 10 hours and the software is easy to use and understand. Will soon be changing helmets and will transfer the unit across, already know it’ll be a breeze.

Look it’s a good product but it came in an open box and I didn’t have time to return it before leaving on a bike trip. Ruined the experience somewhat but these things unfortunately happen.

Great comms kit for bike to bike, mobile phone use and listening to music on the go.
Excellent sound quality and clarity with a decent battery life under normal usage, I use mine with discord app and it works great, recommended.

As a bit of a music nut, when I found out I didn’t have to try and wedge earphones in my ears under my helmet, I was buying straight away. Also as a bit of a music nut, I don’t see what peoples problems with this are! It’s fantastic. If your helmet is good quality and fits properly so it doesn’t let in any wind noise.. then this is great. Some times full volume is too loud and I’m saying this coming from a straight piped 4 stroke supermoto, so it has to compete with some pretty loud surroundings and it fairs absolutely brilliantly. Definitely worth the purchase if you are longing for some tunes on your ride. It makes sunny days that little bit better!!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOk. So after deciding to go all out and get the JBL version, I was not disappointed! These sound like a night club in your helmet. Altough I have encountered a problem the right side earphone as you can hear in the video it seems to rattle almost as if it’s blown. I’ve had them less then a week and never ride with full volume! After testing it at home to see what the max sound sounds like I discovered this irritating problem. Therefore I have ordered a replacement and exchanging for the exact same ones! They are brilliant! Tried to send this to the seller directly as proof that even through a video recording it is very distinctive, imagine in your ear whilst riding! NO complaints, just faulty one.

Great first time intercom, makes a big difference on the placement of the speakers so be prepared to adjust to get in bang on your ear.
Easy to use and connect with others users and music apps, very clear on incoming calls even at speed.

Unit works well. sound quality is good . I’ve tried phone calls ,radio and sat nav all work well . Obviously less effective at speed
because of wind noise but still ok.
Only 4 small operating buttons but you can easily locate them with gloves on.
Have not tried intercom yet but only links to one other rider and that’s not what I bought it for. Used it for 5 hour trip and still plenty of battery life. Charges quick too.

Simple installation – five minutes. Battery lasts ages – still at 100% after 3 hours. Sounds fantastic and clear, even at high speeds
Only downside is voice control needs to be American. Just put on your best Hollywood impression and your sorted though.

Bought this to mainly listen to music while riding but also to chat to mates if we are out on a group ride. The voice control was a big seller for me but tis hit or miss, especially at speed. Need to disconnect music to speak to others and need to press one of the small buttons on the side – not easy with big gloves on – maybe OK for riding in California etc where you can get away with light / no gloves but not in Scotland.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is my first intercom and it’s great it’s loud enough to hear with earplugs, it’s easy to install, set up is straight forward and easy to use, buttons can be a bit fiddly with thicker gloves on but once you know where the buttons are it’s fine.

The sound is not the best but overall it’s great product. Easy to install. Battery live is as advertised Communication during the ride is easy and listening country on the ride around countryside put my riding experience on the next level. Love it.

Great fir the price. Sound quality and volume are fine although right speaker is significantly louder than the left. However ir is fine for background music and sat nav instructions.

Fitted to an Arai helmet – pretty easy to do. Sound quality is fine but nothing amazing. It hold connections with phone and satnav really well and battery life is very good. Voice recognition is OK but can get a bit confused at times and only option is to turn it off and on again which sorts it out.

I’ve previously owned and Interphone F5XT system which was considered decent quality and provided a few years of service before the battery started to lose charge. I took a gamble and upgraded to this.
The +ve points are: the sound quality is superb by comparison. It is relatively easy to fit (there are some installation videos on YouTube) and it largely does what it is supposed to.
Th -ve points are: the capabilities are overstated: e.g the FM radio needs a decent signal, the intercom range is simply line of sight and does not have the range that is suggested. It will occasionally lose its connections. There are a lot of button combinations to remember, although you only need a know a few. The voice controls can be temperamental.
Overall, not quite perfect but a very good buy.

Great piece of kit. It connected to my phone seamlessly, however this wasn’t the case when tried to pair it with friend’s unit. The instruction leaflet is very convoluted and in most cases you just need to figure it out yourself.
The sounds quality and range are great.

This little unit is very good at what it was designed to do………..
Really simple to connect to Android phone done in less than 2 mins
Can be a bit fiddly to get in to helmet (But not the units fault)
Sound at speed very good – Range is as stated and clear when paired with another freecom 4+ user through the Bluetooth.
Voice commands work 99.9% of the time, very rarely i might need to repeat the command – might be something to do with the welsh accent.

Battery life is awesome, I have been on a bout 5 rides with this unit and have only charged it once.

would I recommend this unit? yes, it may be a bit on the pricey side of things compared to other devices but you get what you paid for.

Great for phone calls on the go even had a call while on the motorway at the speed limit and was ok, that’s with a loud pipe and wind noise. Happy with use for sat nav aswell not use intercom but can’t see why it wouldn’t be good at the aswell. Music not great sounds like one of those annoying people playing music through their phone. No bass just annoying. Fits ok on the crash Helmet easy to get on and off easy enough to answer the phone on the move.

Purchased in Dec 2019. Only used a few times. Last time was in downpour and strong winds, January service. Was able to hear satnav fine. Sound very loud and clear. Called the better half on it while on motorway and she said she could hear me clear and wouldn’t know I was in my bike but could hear my breathing so might need to adjust the mic position. Glad I have cut outs or would probably be tight against my ears. Looking forward to the better weather so I can use them more.

Amazing little device does everything I want it to and way more. Not used multi rider mode yet. But music and voice brilliant sound with clear voice even when at speed. Sound increases when bike is going faster then reduces automatically when speed is reduced. Some posts said the button to release device can be easily pressed and released. In my opinion this is not the case. When wearing leather gloves the button is a leaver and has to be pulled away from helmet to release, it is not possible with gloves on. Connectivity is brilliant and simple connecting 2 devices it tells you which device is connected. I’ve chosen to stick mine on rather than use the clamp adapter. No problems at all with coming off. Took less than 1 min to setup in my helmet. Would definetly buy again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money

Only been out with it a couple of times. Links to all my mates non cardo headsets with ease. App is alright. Not used it for gas yet but all in all very impressed. Quite expensive for something that still uses very old technology but still impressive

I wanted to leave it a few weeks before reviewing this item and I have to say that I’m very impressed – from installation (a piece of cake) to its use, flawless so far. The speakers fit snuggly into my helmet and sound very good – it seems to reduce wind noise remarkably well and it connected to my iPhone without issue – terrific purchase, thank you.

I wanted this cardo bluetooth for the Tom Tom and not much else. To that end it is good and Serves its purpose. I tried using the fm radio but found it more of a distraction than anything else. The Sat nav is very clear and almost booming at times, so is very good but I did find a little time delay which fades the start of the message out a bit. All in all i am satisfied with the cardo for what I need but it is at a premium price. Fitted easily to an agv helmet in 15 minutes. Easy to pair to phone and sat nav. Lone wolf rider so can’t comment on connectivity to other bikes/riders.

Does what it says on the box. Distance between these units is okay in a straight line, but go round a corner and it is all static (you will get 50 – 100 yards half the time). There were issues with bluetooth connections and noise at the beginning but this has settled down. It is a lot of money but then that’s what considered use of credit is all about when getting what you want/need!
Hey Cardo, only works with a higher pitched voice than mine and with an American accent and then only most of the time. It refuses to work for me for around 5 minutes on startup – no idea why that is.
Getting the battery level is a little unpredictable, as asking what it is results in random results: it was down to 50% and then 100% 10 minutes later and then died 20 minutes later! I have not tried charging on the go yet as havoc batteries and leads hanging from the helmet is only asking for trouble if you ask me, but a great option though.
Would recommend this product albeit something to save up for.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had trouble fitting the earphones in my helmet. Either they would go over my ear but then they would have to rest on the chin strap over my ear making a very uncomfortable fit and it really make putting the helmet on and taking it off very difficult.
I then tried putting it underneath the foam head insert but then it was so quiet I couldn’t hear anyone over 70 miles an hour.
In the end I had it protruding below the foam head insert like a half moon. I went for a drive made a phone call and listened to music. Once again at high speeds I could no longer make out what my friend was saying over the phone, nor could I hear what the guy in my lecture was saying.
I realise that this is probably due to to my helmet not accommodating the speakers.
Other than that the device has 4 buttons and is quite simple to use. what I didn’t like was to activate the Google assistant you have to press two buttons at the same time, which is very difficult especially because if you do it wrong it will go back to the beginning or skip to the next track of the lecture.
I think the buttons could have been better allocated.
As you can see in the picture I had a lot of trouble squeezing all of the cabling and plugs into the helmet as they were a bit bulky and had a lot of cable.
I have to say that for what you’re paying this unit is amazing.

A good unit but hard for me to activate the Google assista

I bought the Duo version because the Madame and I were going on a tour of Scotland. It was the first time that we would be traveling on motorcycle for hours and days on end.

So I figured we’d better have a way to communicate with each other, if nothing else for me to check if Madame was still awake or if she would like a comfort break.

And the devices worked pretty much as advertised.

Installation on my Schuberth E1 and her Givi something or other was easy enough. Easier on hers than mine.

I was kind of too stupid to install it properly on my lid, which ended up with the gadget a little too far back. This meant that the Madame would occasionally bang into the rear-most button. And when she does that twice in quick succession, I’d end up with highly static FM playing in my ears, annoying the absolute crap out of me.

The first time it happened, I couldn’t figure out how to switch the radio off and had to stop at the first parking area we came up to, take my lid off and went pressing away until I gave up and switched it off and on again.

A quick look at the manual showed how to switch it off when it happened again the next time. But well, best to not install it too far back, yeah.

Apart from that … stellar bit of kit.

The unit came already paired which was good. Sound quality was good with volume control easy to adjust. Radio came on itself at times, not sure why. Worked well until had full day of rain in Scotland then intercom became intermittent. Ended up taking unit from base and drying up water. Seemed to work ok after that. Took an incoming phone call which was very clear with no issues. Haven’t sorted the radio or music yet. Overall a good piece of kit albeit nothing to compare it to.

What a great piece of kit
Worked straight out of the box
Easy to install great sound quality can listen to music upto 70 mph ish maybe more if you know what I mean
    Good battery life
If you are looking for a straight forward plug and play intercom I cannot reccomend this highly enough

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor me, this is the best bluetooth unit on the market. It’s so small you barely notice it and you certainly wouldn’t know it was there when riding. The battery seems to last for days and is a well constructed device. I mainly use it for playing music. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable if not amazing although I am a bit of a fussy audiophile and jbl speakers can be purchased as an upgrade. Call quality is good and all buttons can be found easily even with thick gloves on. I ride in all weather’s and the cardo has not failed me yet and bluetooth connection has never dropped out. If all you need is calls/music and the ability to talk to pillion or one other rider you can’t do better than this unit.

The Freecom1+ fitted inside my Nolan very well, the speakers were very snug and needed a bit of a squeeze, the m3m was needed due to the rim of the helmet not being suitable but very very secure, a small 8mm drill hole through the small Nolan removable panel (for their b series headsets) meant that all wires fed neatly inside and tucked out of sight. The sound quality with earplugs fitted is fantastic and you can clearly hear music and chat without distortion at 70mph comfortably. The control and ease of use are great, the fm radio is ok, I use a radio app personally but I did try it. I have ridden in the rain and the unit has stood up without fault and the battery life lasts my five day commuting over 600 miles without recharge.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersDecent product. The unit is thinner than I expected. Good feature set. Like someone else, I found the voice control worked best when trying a bit of an American twang. Other than sounding like a bell end, the voice control works reasonably well, but nae perfect. Probably due to my dodgy accent. The clamp mounting doesn’t fit a Schuberth E1, so it’s stuck on. (It’s not a two-piece clamp with a screw, as other systems have. It’s a one-piece plastic item, that you pull open to go over the edge of the lid. Feels robust enough, but if it doesn’t fit well on the lid, you can’t fettle with it.) Can easily feel the control buttons through gloves & they’re well spaced. Connected first time with (the original Cardo) Schuberth SRC system for intercom. Easy enough to install. Instructions were in French, German & Italian. Plenty graphics though, so not much of an issue. Cardo smartphone app seems to work okay. Like the big on-screen buttons, which helps if you normally wear reading glasses.

Easy enough to fit, terrible instructions, hard to set up, with absolutely no help from the so called Cardo Community app. Eventually got it working, to be used as a rider to passenger intercom, with simultaneous gps instructions from my Samsung a5. Instead of the silly hype, Cardo should concentrate on providing the set up instructions so you can actually get it to work! The app is total rubbish! It is also very slow to pair, and you are never sure if it’s working properly or not. My previous wired Autocom system provided far better quality reception, albeit with the disadvantage of having to plug in.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI have had this headset for a week so have not tested it comprehensively but so far it has performed quite well. This is also my first bluetooth headset so I cannot say how it performs compared to other products. Setup was very easy using the Cardo App after pairing with the phone. I have been using it with Google music, Here we go mapping and GPS, and the radio. Music reproduction is very good but I have to select the album or playlist on the phone before setting off. The radio is a bit hit and miss but works well enough if the signal is good, but in poor reception areas the sensitivity of the headset seems weak. I have made two phone calls using the quick dial number and this worked quite well with the call going through first time. The device looks well made and clips firmly to the mount attached to the helmet. The main difficulty lies with the design of the push buttons which are a little difficult to locate with gloves, although with practice it does get a little easier. Also to utilize the different functions of the device you have to learn and remember the required key presses. Sound quality is a little difficult to judge but I would say it probably pretty good as judged when the motorbike is stopped, however external noise from wind and the engine drown out the sound from the speakers when on the move requiring the volume to be turned to the max on both phone and headset.
The above sound issues probably apply to all bluetooth headsets so I wouldn’t expect any other make to be significantly better with the helmet I am using. I have used the headset with and without earplugs with the volume being acceptable and wishing it to be louder to overcome the wind noise would likely initiate some hearing damage.
Overall I am satisfied with this product but some compromises have to be accepted for a device of this type. For anyone who does not need rider to rider intercom features then it is a good option. Hopefully it will remain reliable over the coming months. I have given the product a 4 star rating based on the device performance but if sound fidelity is important to you then helmet choice will play a big part in the quality of the sound that you hear.

The unit is very neat on the Helmet. We had to use the “stick on” pads as the standard clips do not fit bmw or shuberth helmets due to the thick plastic rim at the bottom of the helmets.
Very easy to fit speakers & mic. The “Cardo voice” activation is amazing.
BUT as others have commented you have to put a slight American twang to your voice to get it to work. Not a big deal to save you fiddling with a unit on the Helmet when you have winter gloves on. 4 stars only because of the price point.
