I tend to “cheap out” because too often products fall short. Under peer pressure I sprung for this unit. This unit is spectacular. We used it for a long off-road race. Loud rough environment. Talking to the other riders was better than standing next to them. My phone calls aren’t this clear. In between chats, the headphones delivered sound as good as my best headphones. During the race, I took phone calls and the caller said it sounded like a clear phone call. If you want the best communications in your helmet just give them your money. As soon as you are listening to your music and talking to your friends, you’ll forget what it cost.
Was hoping to be able to upgrade to get a little more battery life and give me the ability to connect to SENA helmet systems from my older cardo. Not only does it do the job but it is much louder than the older system, almost too loud, and seems to last quiet a bit longer on my long trips. I typically ride 20k miles a year so this is definitely a must for me.
This Packtalk Edge unit was easy to install and is a dream to operate. Links to my iPhone and motorcycle with ease, and to other riders. Battery life is incredible- days of battery life. Prior to this I had a Sena 50R and after 2.5 years the battery died- and was barely holding 4 hours leading up to that. Worst customer service from Sena I’ve ever experienced- will never buy a Sena again. Cardo RULES.
It’s a little thing, but the magnetic mounting is really great, especially if you have the helmet on and then mount the Cardo unit. What sucks is that removing it is at least as hard, if not harder, than it was with the Bold model. Not really hard but definitely not an improvement.
The cover for the USB-C charging is a joke. I charged it the first time and the cover has not stayed in place since. I haven’t cut it off yet but I probably will soon since it is just sticking out with no real purpose at this point. I don’t know what the answer is for companies like Cardo who make these charging port covers, they are either so difficult to use that people remove them or they are just not functional and people remove them. Maybe the port could be on the back so it is covered when on the helmet?
I was really hoping the audio would be louder. I use earplugs when riding and the volume is just not enough to make listening to podcasts possible. I can listen to music because my brain can fill in the blanks that don’t come through but not with talking sources like a podcast.
One weird thing (at least to me) is that it will tell me when the connection to a riding partner has been lost but it never tells me that is has regained the connection. So, I’m left wondering if the other person can hear me at any point after hearing they have been disconnected. It’s usually a “can you hear me now” moment but that can be annoying and repetitive.
Overall it works well but I would be hard pressed to recommend anyone to update from the Bold to the Edge (like I did).
If your on the Fence to purchase this.don’t be anymore. It’s expensive but it’s worth every penny. Voice control, radio or stream music. Best of all is the ability to make a phone call with perfect quality. I’ve been down the road at highway speeds with my visor open and talking to my wife who says the sound quality is better than just being on my phone
Super intercom cardo.
Relatively Easy install on Schubert C3-Pro
Turning it on is about the only challenging task :- )
Voice commands work flawlessly – even at freeway speeds
The volume roller is fantastic for when you must slow down or speed up and road noise changes
You just roll the volume up/ down as needed instead of repeated ‘Hey Cardo’ incremental commands
Very satisfied with this upgrade from my 10 year old Sena that finally broke
I installed the Cardo Packtalk Edge within about 10min. and this is the first time I have ever installed one of these. I wanted music while I ride and alway wear a helmet, so this was a great addition. I have not used while riding yet, but did call someone while inside the house wearing the helmet and it worked well. I’ll have to update once I take it out on a ride. I installed it into a new Arai Contour-X helmet.
Only complaint is the volume, the comfortable volume I feel like is in between 2 notches, one is too quiet as the notch up is too loud
Wow, this thing is cool and puts out great sound. Put it inside my full face street helmet. East install. Durability seems superb. Amazon as usual had the most competitive price and it was on my porch in 2 days for my Saturday ride. Can’t go wrong
When your children turn a certain age & move out, you don’t have much control on whether they buy a motorcycle. It scares me to death that my 20-year-old rides one & while I try not to support that, I do support helping him do it in the safest way possible. This hands-free Cardo Packtalk Edge means he isn’t using his AirPods anymore. He isn’t trying to fiddle with his phone. He can speak a command & the Cardo should assist him. When he’s on group rides, he can also communicate with his friends so they know if someone needs help or which direction they plan to go. Now if anyone knows where I can purchase a giant bubble to go around his motorcycle, I would appreciate it…….
I had not installed any systems to my helmets before. Take the time to carefully install the unit, mic and speakers and it will almost look and perform like it came with the helmet but it takes time (about an hour for me) and patience to get it right. I had a bit of a hiccup getting it to connect to my iPhone the first time I tried to get it to connect to Bluetooth and the iPhone app but have had zero issues since. I have only tested it at street speed so far but the quality of calls is very good with people asking where I am calling from because they can hear my call so clearly while my reception and sound quality has been excellent. The unit has responded to voice commands well and the music quality is very good. The unit connected to my gps almost without input from me which was great. Next step is a upcoming freeway and backroad full day ride which if I can add to the review I will. So far I am very please with this unit.
Works as they should. Set up is pretty easy. Instructions are difficult to follow. Glad I got the jbl. Sound is mediocre at best. Hate to hear the regular ones.
I bought this to use in my helmet for a 3-day ATV trip. The plan being to listen to music and answer calls if needed. I am very happy with how this unit worked. In my opinion it was easy to use on with the voice commands, music quality was excellent, and the volume went plenty loud enough. For the few calls that I did take, people stated that they had no idea I was talking into my helmet and riding an ATV. The battery lasted all 3 days on a single charge. I have not had a chance to use the MESH network yet, but plan to this summer during motorcycle season.
This thing sounds amazing. I can take it and put it in any helmet. The audio was incredible!
I have bought the SENA Outursh, and Outrush R.
They suck!!!
I almost bought the Sena 50 with the Harmon Kardon audio. However, I kept seeing this, it has JBL speakers.
One would assume the Mercedes Benz spund system would be best.
Nope, JBL knocked this out.
This is seriously the best thing you can by audio wise for your helmet.
Set up your voice assistant and you are literally hands free.
I am never going back to SENA, ever.
Altogether, in the helmet with music hunt, I spent thousand plus dollars; and idc. I ended up getting my helmet, that was cheap with this good sound system and it is better than anything your gonna go out and buy.
Knowledge is priceless, and now I know what the best music and sound system for riding is. It is interchangeable, so my next helmet, that will be Ruroc or 6D, will have this transferred onto it.
Trust me, this is what you want.
Cardo should pay me
I was skeptical coming from Sena, but I definitely made the right choice. Sound quality is incredible, and it is very loud. If you are on the fence just get the Cardo, you will not be disappointed. Buttons and the volume wheel are easy to use. Even the sticky mount works great! Oh yes and it’s definitely water proof, absolutely no issues I love this thing.
I have 1 complaint but I feel like it’s a big ish one: the controls on it are really hard to use with gloves on. And i also wish tgere was a dedicated power button but that’s just preference.
It sounds great, it works well, but the damn controls are impossible with gloves on. Maybe it’s just me but i can use it no problem with my gloves off.
Upgraded from Cardo Freecom4. Huge different in stock speakers vs JBL. I use a Arai Rx7 Evo and speakers fit nicely into the cheek pad. Battery life is great. Takes some getting used to the buttons. Pairs up with Garmin Zumo Xt so can see what songs are playing.
Pretty easy to install in my modular helmet. Sound quality is great. Connects to a lot of different other headsets. Directions aren’t as clear as they could be, but the learning curve isn’t bad.
So much more functional than the Packtalk Black. The Black rarely, if ever, registered Siri. The Edge does this consistently and is overall a far better unit. USB-C is a huge plus! Hearing battery life when you turn it off is very, very useful feature.
Excellent battery life. Still at “battery full” after 100 mi.
Sticky mount attached just fine to my SHOEI RF-1400.
Works well, sounds good and keeps connection. Still getting use to the “buttons”, but volume control is very easy to use. I do need to adjust for “road noise and exhaust” at times, but I don’t like to play it too loud either.
Was really skeptical over being able to hear the speakers through my ear plugs, had to adjust a bit to get them right beside my ears but after adjustment they work super well! Mic audio is very clear as well. I installed in an Arai Regent X size L! Very easy to install, just takes a minute to hide the cables! Magnetic attachment works well too!
I used this product for the last couple months on commute and long trips on my motorcycle. I would give it 4 stars because the easiness to use and affordability. I would say that it is not the loudest of the ones that I have but with the space cushion that makes it closer to ears do help but are still hard to hear in bad wind.
NO one knows I’m on the Harley. No kidding. love to listen to my music. I keep my hands on the handle bars and push no buttons. I say Answer and it does. I say Ignore and I can’t hear any more ringing. I say intercom on and talk to my passenger. I say share music and we share. Come on! its the bomb!!
No more fiddling with gloves and buttons or stopping to connect with your phone. Say volume up or down. longer battery life than I can ride . I can Drive from Chicago to Cleveland and back and still have a touch of battery . FM music or play your phone list music. I can talk with more than three riders , although I never have. Most Importantly Is the clear conversations over the phone with out struggle . better honestly than my blue tooth in my car. Bill
I will say I wasn’t impressed with the price when my brother was trying to get me to buy one. But I am so glad I did. This is a great accessory to my riding. I can jam to my music and it is loud. I actually took a phone call will riding at 60 person on the other line thought ai was lying. I actually had to lift my visor to get them to believe me. Oh, and the battery life is freaken unreal!!!!! Trust me, it is well worth the money. Still haven’t got to use it riding with the bro, but am sure it will be perfect. If I could give this 10 stars I would.
This works very well however there are a couple of points at note. Connecting people to a group can take several attempts. If there are lots of people with mobiles often you cannot connect. The sound quality from the speakers are ok but past 70mph with earplugs you stuff Le to hea
It replaced a 7 year old Packtalk and its a very good upgrade from the original.
The app could be easier to use and connecting to several devices and especially other branded headsets is complicated. If all your buddies have Packtalk (all generations) then its easy to set up and use and on group rides its just brilliant.
Easy to set up, the sound is excellent, the speakers are quite thick so for the smaller of bonce, get the smaller speakers! Very happy punter though

I bought the Cardo Packtalk Edge shortly after choosing between the Cardo and Sena brands.
The Edge’s predecessor, the Bold, is already 4 years old so the new Edge should last me at least 4 to 5 years.
The product feels very solid, pairing it to my smartphone and satnav (Tomtom Rider 550(SE) ) is so easy that I did the pairing a 2nd time because I thought that I missed something and/or skipped a step in the pairing process, it was THAT easy.
The fact that the Edge doesn’t have an antenna is part of the reason it’s really compact. The magnet-clip is a nice addition and gives you that extra sense of security: never again do you have to double check if the Packtalk is properly placed onto your helmet.
