Carissima Gold 9ct White Gold 0.73ct Diamond and Aquamarine

I’ve purchased this item along with the matching earrings ( 9ct White Gold 0.05ct Diamond & Aquamarine Crossover Earrings ) as a combined Christmas and birth present for my wife (she’s expecting our first child in March).

I very much liked the look of this item as it is portrayed in the picture. For me, it symbolises a mother carrying a child during pregnancy – the aquamarine stone, being the birthstone for March, perfectly representing the baby protected inside the infinity loop of a mother’s love… Imaginative, aren’t I…? 😉

Aquamarine is also traditionally given as a gift to symbolise the wish for a long and happy marriage so this item plays to a great number of virtues and meanings at this time in our lives.

Firstly, the positives which, for me at least, outweigh the negative…

The pendant itself is well made and a good size, as is the curb cut chain. While somewhat fine, the chain does not look cheap or frail – I believe that with care, it will last well for many years to come.

The main stone is cut to a standard well above average and is set nicely inside it’s white gold surrounds. The 5 small diamonds are really tiny but I was expecting that and they do still add a certain elegance to the overall piece despite their small size.

The negative to which I refer is that the shade of blue in the photo was not accurately delivered in the item I received. The actual stone is a less vivid blue – more a greyish-blue than the Caribbean blue that the photo portrays. I’m sure that the colour of other stones could vary in intensity so perhaps I got a less than ideal one but it’s still beautiful.

Overall though, I’m happy and I’m sure my wife will love the matching set, not just for their look and quality, both of which are great, but also for the meaning behind the gift.

I’d recommend this to others but only if you’re a bit flexible with your expectations of the depth of colour in the main stone.
