Very good watch, easy to read, replaces an old eco-drive watch that I had for many years.
Great watch, however, the strap is a little stiff and this makes the pin quite dangerous as it is sharp. I recommend they replace the pin with a blunder version.
It is indeed a beautiful watch, not overly glitzy. The stainless steel watch is set off by the black leather ‘crocodile’ wrist strap. The date and time easy to adjust and the Eco Drive removing all worries of fading batteries. A good watch to own.
Easy to read, perfect time keeping, comfortable to wear, love the dial, Roman numerals, perfect, the strap a bit short for my wrist but easy to change
I bought this watch as a back up to my usual one which really needs a special strap replacement. I wanted a watch that did not need regular battery replacements, was clear to read and I prefer Roman numerals on an analogue face. I was very pleasantly surprised by this watch, setting the time and date was easy.
Nice but a bit plain. Display less easy to read than expected. But will be useful as a second watch
Very nice looking timepiece. It is really lightweight and slim. No worries around battery failure and keeps good accurate time. Very good value.
delivery took much longer then stated. watch looks great and clear to see, sadly at moment I am trying to get it to charge up, as clock stops. my previous citizen (stolen) worked straight away, so hope this is not going to be issue with this watch.
Normal watch. It’s no doubt that the black one will be more good-looking.
But I want a small 36mm formal dress watch. This one meet my expectation.
Dress watch is always expensive. This must be the cheapest 36mm dress watch u can found. As I say ,the quality is normal.
Needed new watch. This might see me out. In poor light you might think its always a quarter past the hour but you soon get used toit. .
Firstly, I read all the reviews about this watch and quite agree that changing the day is a bit of a faff, unlike the relatively easy date change. It really doesn’t help that the crown is so smooth and fiddly, however I managed it just to make sure that the day/date works OK. I never normally bother with this feature on any of my watches. Secondly, the leather strap is OK and perhaps all that can be expected in terms of quality at this price point. I shall probably change it for a better one in due course, but for now I’ll live with it. Overall, the watch is very attractive, with nice crisp numerals on the white dial and nicely shaped hands. I doubt that I’d have paid more for this watch unless it had sapphire glass and felt a bit more weighty in the hand, as it is very light weight. Then again this is an ecodrive and is bound to be light weight and so know doubt I’ll get used to it. Definitely worth four stars overall.
May be a ‘mens’ watch by I own one (bought years ago at a local shop) and has been a brilliant watch – my 92 year old mother in law needed a watch she could read more easily and had admired mine. Found this one (same as mine except for coloured surround) she is really happy with it. Comfortable, reliable, easy to read – delivered promptly and well packaged. Many thanks
I love the design of the watch and can see the quality, it is a delight to use and takes seconds to set up, knowing that I will never have to buy a battery for it is the feature that derove me to buy the watch but I was wowed by the quality pf i
I’ll get the bad over with first, the watch strap. Despite the inner lining of the strap against your wrist being very nice, the exterior is a shiny black and does not look great to me. At the time I bought it price wise, I didn’t mind shelling out extra for a new strap. I’m conflicted about subtracting a star for this as it is a part that will wear and be replaced in time anyway, but they could have done better and at this price point, a new strap does represent a fair extra percentage on top of the price.
The watch has kept great time so far, it’s basic but smart, I like it.
Date feature is useable but awkward by modern standards, you do have to keep track of it on the first of each month as it’s 31 days and it also tracks the day of the week, so more fuss, but it is certainly better than useless. Mobiles have made me lazy about such things, but it doesn’t affect my rating.
The only other thing to be aware of is the the roman numeral for 4 is IIII rather than IV. I prefer a IV by choice, but again, it’s not like it affects my rating.
Time will tell how the solar charged battery lasts and how much fuss it will be changing that when it goes fut, hopefully many years away!
This is a very nice Watch, and very good value, Though, for me, the dial is most confusing – that day/date thing, at a glance. makes everything look to be at a quarter past each hour. The Day/Date feature is useless to me anyway. If this watch were made as it is, but without that Day/Date thingy (nudge, nudge!), it would be perfect.
Great watch, boyfriend loves it and wears it daily for work and leisure. It’s a small faced watch, which is good for his wrists but could look lost on someone who has larger arms. I would recommend this watch, it comes nicely packaged boxed.
The watch has a clear large face which I can see easily without needing to search out my reading glasses. This is my second Citizen watch . Like the previous one, it is keeping excellent time, driven by sun light- so clever! Well priced and good looking.
Really pleased. Not too big or heavy. Clever bit of kit running on light. Love the Roman numerals it has date and day which is important to me.
This is a great watch the face is very easy to read the time a quick glance and you can see the time plus it was at the correct time when I opened the box I own a lot of watches this is one of the bes
I’d got through about 3 inexpensive Casio in last 5 years as although kept good time, straps and winders broke, and most recent steamed up. For Amazons price, and the Citizen guarantee, no battery changes, beautiful looking, it will pay for itself
Originally got this as a cheap work watch, I had planned to replace the strap. Really grown in me in both design and quality. Light weight and keeps time excellently. I like the day and date feature. Very attractive watch for its price.
Excellent watch not just for the money by 3 times that or more. No more batteries. Classic good looks and no enquiries about day/date. Strap much better than many reviewers have previously said. What more can I say…..buy it!!
Arrived on time and perfectly packaged. Watch is brilliant – simple, classy and stylish. Not five stars because of the strap. It is a shame about the strap being really cheap looking/feeling but maybe that’s why it’s 60?
I ordered this requiring a decent reliable watch as my old one started misbehaving. I am very pleased with it. A decent size, looks very classic with the Roman numerals. Yes, the strap is a little stiff, but considering the thickness of the strap, it’s very acceptable. I know some reviewers have mentioned that the strap is rather short, but I find it perfectly adequate. I am sure that I will get many years service from this watch. After all, a 5 year warranty with another year following registration is not to be sneezed at.
Looks a lot better than I expected. It did require some fiddeling at the start to set it up, but it is relatively easy once you know what to do. More specifically: Setting up the time is really easy. So is setting up the monthly date. The weekday however, required a great deal of effort to change to the current one when following the instructions as it barely seemed to register with the turning wheel (or maybe it is just me having trouble turning the wheel in the required direction and position). I was however able to work around this by simply first putting the monthly date one day early, before turning the time forward by 1 day in order to make it show Thursday instead of Wensday.
The strap currently seems a bit stiff, but will hopefully soften up a bit through use. I have seen some here complain that it was far too short, but for me the smallest setting was perfect for me.
Very Good exprience with this High-quanity watch. But here is a tip of it. The strap isn’t that satisifatory, but you can find any replacement to supersede it, since its price.
The watch I ordered was everything I expected of a Citizen Eco Drive watch. Excellent quality and well worth the wait for it. The watch arrived earlier than the date given originally which I was pleased about. I purchased this as a dress watch and it fits the bill perfectly. The watch has a very clear face and has a day/date feature with Roman numerals and the watch strap is excellent quality leather. Really love it and would recommend this watch to anyone.
Bought this for my son to wear at work. He has a fancy citizen watch for weekends. I like Citizen watches as I lost one while gardening. I dug it up while planting bulbs 12 years later and it still works. I m still wearing it more than two years later! My son seems very pleased with this one!
A gift for my dad 2 years ago.
Thumb up for this affordable watch. He loves it. Well stylish and good looking.
The date setting is a bit difficult for elderly people otherwise it can replace your expensive one easyly
Let me start by saying that I love watches. Most of all, I love watches who don’t need to be opened up every year or so to change the power supply. It is why my most cherished time pieces are either automatic (they wind themselves up when worn by the use of a half-disc gizmo inside), Kinetic (same half-disc is generating energy when the watch is worn and in turn charges a battery) or the Citizen type solar powered – which is the case here. Solar power charges a cell that should (theoretically) last a really long time (well, at least 5 years that the warranty offers, anyway).
I bought this particular time piece because all my other watches have metal straps and are by extension heavy (at least the stainless steel ones) and I needed something to wear that’s a bit less flashy. This will go well with a suit or a casual attire.
It is also extremely light. The casing is really thin and although it’s stainless steel, you will forget you’re wearing it. It doesn’t have fancy functions like syncing to the atomic clock – so you’ll need to set the time and date manually – but on the bright side, you will not need a manual. Pull the crown once – the watch stops, so if you’re really the OCD type you can wait until the seconds indicator reaches XII, then set the day and week day by rotating it – pull the crown twice – set the time. Push the crown back – you’re done. Extremely easy for anybody who has ever used a mechanical watch.
The time keeping is extremely precise so far – I verify all my time pieces against multiple sources – and the watch is a pleasure to wear.
The strap could have been less flashy to be quite honest, but it isn’t a pain to change if you want to.
The roman numerals are “de gustibus”. Personally, I like them, since my first ever watch had roman numerals and they also enhance a look that’s stylish and classic.
About the water resistance of this watch, I found in the Citizen documentation (which you can find here on page 14 – http://c04.coacdn.com/calibersWPC/E101_ebook.pdf ) that if there is no indication then the watch should still be water resist(ant) up to three atmospheres, which means, in this particular case, that you can use it without any problems whilst washing your face and that a little rain will not kill it. However, for kitchen work or swimming, this isn’t an appropriate choice.
Excellent product, plain but elegant. Only one downside, winder needs ridges as it is difficult to grip when you change date (don’t need to adjust the time except for clocks changing as it’s the most accurate watch I have ever owned)
The watch suits my needs perfectly. It is not too large and cumbersome like so many of the watches on the market today. The face is not cluttered with all sorts of dials and gizmos which are of little use and tend to obscure the real purpose of the watch which is to tell the time. The white face and black numerals make it easy to see in all lighting conditions. I always prefer a leather strap for the sake of comfort and this one fits the bill. For anyone wanting a good watch which is easy to look at, functional, never needs winding or a new battery, this model is well worth considering.
I bought this watch as I like roman numerals and a white face and as its a good brand with Eco Drive which means it never needs batteries. I am very happy with my purchase and the watch is well-made, sits well on the wrist and is quite elegant. I recommend it.
accurate stylish this is a 79 replacement for a ~3k dress watch {Jaeger Le Coultre} which was really too good to wear daily
I wanted a slim, steel, leather strapped, white faced, Roman numeralled, two handed analogue wristwatch – -this has it and it has day, date and a second’s sweep hand as well!! Oh and it’s light powered so need for neither batteries or winding – fullmarks
