Super duper cool! LEGO compatible bricks, too! The cockpit could probably also be jerry-rigged to fit a normal Lego minifigure if you wanted. My only gripes with this set are that the wings feel somewhat fragile – like they might snap off of the fuselage (main body of the plane) – and that the parts all just come in 1 mega bag. Other than that, this was awesome to build and my boyfriend LOVED it!

Tolles Modell, Bauanleitung und Teilequalitt ist hervorragend. Keine Sticker, alles groartig bedruckt, Cobi setzt hier Mastbe. Lego kommt nicht mal in die Nhe was Qualitt und Drucke betrifft. Das Modell kann ich nur empfehlen.
My son loves Legos but have ordered a lot of sets from this brand and he is always happy. Not cheaply made and fun sets that stay together once done.
Super excited to get this for Father’s Day. Unfortunately, it was missing a big grey piece in step 31. I reached out to the companies website for missing pieces and they shipped us a new piece! We were able to complete it and it looks awesome!! Highly recommend!
Incredible set with fantastic detail. Not a complicated build, but fairly lengthy as all the parts are in two main sets unlike classic Lego where you build bag-to-bag. Overall very fun, and the model is a great representation. I did add a couple of small embellishments to make it just a little more accurate such as the treadways on top of the air intakes, added a flat 1×1 instead of a stud for the front wings stops so they can appropriately open all the way up like they should, and a couple of other misc things. Two suggestions for the manufacturer, the nose cone could be a little more stable as it tends to fall off if just moving the model around, as well as the vertical missile brackets as they fall off just thinking about moving it (model cement does wonders for these). Overall, highly recommend.
Perfect gift for someone who is into Top Gun!! Very easy to assemble considering all the pieces are grey. Can be displayed after putting together and is a great conversation starter.
Ich hatte schon einiges an Lego und Alternativen in der Hand, aber noch keines von Cobi. Auf der suche nach Flugmodellen bin ich bei Cobi hngen geblieben, da mir diese schon optisch am besten gefallen haben und es eine groe Auswahl an Flugzeugen gibt. Sehr gut gefallen hat mir vor allem, dass die fertigen Modelle nicht so viele Kanten haben, sondern wirklich wie aus einem Guss aussehen. Das Model war in 2 Tagesaktionen zusammen gebaut und sieht wirklich Klasse aus. Der Zusammenbau war Problemlos und man muss lobend erwhnen wie gut die Teile zusammen passen und vor allem halten. Trotzdem finde ich es ist eher ein Model zum hinstellen und weniger zum bespielen. Die Griffflchen sind dank der Raketen nicht wirklich fr Kinder geeignet, oder die mssen ab. Ansonsten drckt man diese stndig beim bewegen ab. Etwas schade finde ich das bei mir die Kanzel nicht ganz zu geht, weil der Helm des hinteren Piloten im weg ist. Auch der Stnder ist super wackelig und verdient den Namen kaum. Zudem wre es toll gewesen wenn man den Stnder verstellen knnte um den Flieger in verschiedenen Posen zu prsentieren. Aber das sind eher Kleinigkeiten. Also bei uns wird Cobi zuknftig Einzug halten. 2 weitere Flieger stehen bereits in den Startlchern.
This was my first Cobi model, and only 2nd block type model…after the Saturn V. It was just the right balance of fun and challenging, for me,as a novice to build, so only a couple of confusing parts.
The result was totally worth it. I’ll buying more from Cobi,that’s for sure. Everything fit perfectly,high quality plastic. A real beauty for the Desk!
Das ist nun mein drittes Set von Cobi und ich habe erneut weit mehr Spa daran, als an Baustzen des Marktfhrers’.
Die Anleitung ist gut verstndlich und als Bauender wird man wie ein Erwachsener’ behandelt. Die Bauschritte sind nicht zu detailliert, manchmal muss man mit- und vorausdenken, was mir sehr viel Freude bereitet. Es kann schon einmal vorkommen, das man ein falsches Teil verbaut und nach einigen weiteren Bauschritten den Fehler erst merkt 😉 Das ist fr mich das Salz in der Suppe’ was dem dnischen Mitbewerber inzwischen leider abhanden gekommen ist.
Auch die Steinequalitt ist super – es gibt keine Farbabweichungen, die Klemmkraft passt und es gibt keinen Aufkleber im Set.
Lediglich das Spaltmass’ der Steine im fertigen Modell knnte geringer sein, aber das ist Meckern auf hohem Niveau.
My son saw this and had to have it. He began building right away. Sadly he found he was missing a few pieces. We searched all the bags and they were no where to be found. Again, thankfully we have a ton of LEGO pieces and were able to use LEGO pieces instead. Now that it is completed he is proudly displaying it on his shelf.
As fun and decent as technic. Don’t be worried. Smaller blocks allow better detail

I ordered this for my Top Gun mad son, for Christmas. It was ordered a month before Christmas, but I didn’t get it until the end of February. Christmas had come and gone, much to my son’s disappointment. It was the only thing he wanted. I kept checking the order page, where it said, “Order being processed”. There was no way of contacting the seller. I finally decided to contact them by posting a question about the product. They never got back to me, but the package, miraculously, was dispatched. It wasn’t an inexpensive gift, And my son had to wait monthsdreadful!
I gave 5 stars for the airplane, itself. It is high quality bricks, with great detail. The instructions were easy to understand, for my 11 year old son. Excellent gift!
Do not buy from this seller, though. If you have a problem, it is impossible to get a hold of them, and they won’t make any effort to contact you, when you do find a way. Nil stars for the seller!
It was great. No real complaints. Pieces are sturdy. We did super glue the landing gear in place since it was a bit wobbly. My 13yo enjoyed it. Took him 6 hours to complete. Most time looking for the correct piece in a sea of all grey pieces. Haha. BUT there were 4 crucial pieces missing. Not a huge deal if you are an avid smLego builder, you will be able to improvise.

2 Teile haben leider gefehlt, wir konnten sie aufgrund der Steine Sammlung ersetzen.
Aufgrund der Konstruktion gab es etwas herausfordernde Stabilittsprobleme fr kleine Kinderhnde (10 Jahre)
Anleitung gut bis perfekt. Mein 10 jhriger Sohn hat nur bei ein paar Schritten etwas Untersttzung gebraucht.

De surcrot, je lui ai offert aussi dans la mme collection le F18 , mon fils ne l’a pas encore mont j’ose esprer que le problme ne se renouvellera pas .

Model looks great and was fairly simple to build, great quality apart from one brick being faulty, hence the 4 stars, but Cobi have been quick to solve this and have sent out a replacement to add to the model. I managed to finish without it but will add it in once it arrives.
As with most Cobi kits this was a joy to build. Flawless parts fit, clear instructions, generally good stability and well done engineering. This one is better than average for a toy brick jet as far as playability for younger builders.
I am not a fan of the little rubber hoses that are used for the pilot’s air mask feed in any of their kits. They are too stiff which makes them hard to bend into place. I have not gotten brave enough to try heating them into position yet.
The display stand makes it look great on a shelf, desktop or in a display case. Keep in mind that you’ll need some significant space because she’s a big bird when finished!
p.s. It would have been cool if the kit had helmets and head and hands for Iceman and Slider, Hollywood and Wolfman. That way you would have a good excuse to buy extra copies of the kit.
Beautiful model, my 8 year old is a fan of cobi tanks but this is our first aircraft and we want more! The finished model has a real likeness to the actual aircraft and can be mistaken for a plastic kit rather than brick built model. It’s a good size too. The quality of the kit is par with Lego
and the details like adjustable wing sweep and moving wing surfaces make it fun too. Trouble is I don’t want him to play with it!
Only some minor niggles are that the stand is a bit wobbly with the weight of the model, the nose cone comes off a bit too easily, and I wish the wing sweep mechanism connected them both together rather than individually. My son wanted the nose gear to be retractable. All in all a really nice model which impressed us greatly.
Allgemein tolle Klemmkraft der Steine, einzige Ausnahme sind die Fahrwerksteile, die ein wenig mehr Halt brauchen knnten, aber dennoch top. Verarbeitung und Qualitt steht dem kleinen dnischen Familienunternehmen” in nichts nach.
Design wirklich gut, spannende Verwendung der Steine und interessante Bauschritte.
GROSSES PLUS: Keine billigen Aufkleber (Gre nach Dnemark) sondern alles bedruckt, auch hier gute Qualitt.
Preis Leistung ebenfalls absolut in Ordnung und angemessen, anders als bei anderen Marken mittlerweile (erneute Gre nach Dnemark).
Einziges Manko ist fr mich der Stnder, der sehr wackelig ist, sieht aber toll aus wenn es einmal steht, sonst halt einfach auf die Rder stellen.
Alles in allem absolut zufrieden. Freue mich auf das nchste Modell.
A huge aviation lover with an interest in fighter jets in particular. I love the idea of building my collection with a few “less realistic” models and these fit the bill. They have a great block athstetic but still capture the beauty of the aircraft.
This is my 3rd build and I intend to add more.
lets get the weaknesses out of the way first
1. nose is flimsy and does not stay together well
2. landing gear come off easily
3. wing pivot joints could be stronger
4. engine intakes are weak where the missiles attach
the pluses definitely outweigh the above
1. the wings sweep as in a real tomcat
2. contains all details right down to tail hook and forward looking camera
3. vertical stabilizers tilt just as they do in a Tomcat
4. Wing ailerons move
5. realistic markings
Mods needed to make it more realistic/correct errors in instructions
1. paint the canopy to match a real Tombcat’s forward visibility
2. remove the single piece on the inside front edge of each wing. add 2 grey spuds to spot where the wing would contact the body. doing this will prevent the wings from sweeping too far forward. As the model ships the wings can sweep too far forward for a reverse swept wing look.
kit was fairly straight forward to assemble and instructions are clear. This is not meant to be a play toy unless you super glue it together.
ber den Preis lasse ich mich dabei nicht aus, weil es keinen Sinn hat darber zu streiten, ob das Model zu teuer ist oder nicht. Entweder es ist einem den Preis wert, dann kauft man es, oder es ist einem den Preis nicht wert, dann kauft man es sich nicht.
An diesem Modell habe ich genau drei Dinge auszusetzen:
1) Verfrbungen auf Plattes (siehe Foto)
2) Tiefe Kratzer auf Plattes
3) Ungengende Klemmkraft
Zu Punkt 1 gibt es nichts weiter zu sagen.
Bei Punkt 2 ist es so, dass die betroffenen Plates am Schluss nicht mehr zu sehen sind. Beim Aufbau strt es mich, da man die meisten Kratzer am Schluss nicht mehr sehen kann, da entweder der schwenkbare Flgel darber ist, oder die Plates berbaut wurden, kann ich damit leben. Aber auch in den Plates vom Stnder sind Kratzer.
Zu Punkt 3, mangelhafte Klemmkraft: Gerade die Flgel sind sehr fragil. Die Bauteile, welche bentigt werden um eine schne Rundung zu generieren, sind entweder zu schwer fr die Konstruktion, oder halten nicht. Alle paar Wochen bilden sich unschne Spalten und die Teile mssen erneut festgedrckt werden.
This set comes in two large bags numbered 1 and 2. The first bag is stage 1. This entails building the inner structure, foundation of the aircraft upon which all other pieces/builds would fit. During this build, all the bricks/pieces fit well and tight.
Bag 2 is stage 2. This covers the pilots, cockpit, all the wings, wheels, missiles, it’s the rounding off/final stages. This stage is challenging, temperamental, fragile. Whilst building a specific section, if not careful, another area/section already build, just drops off, comes loose. The bricks/pieces dont fit tight together and one could spend more time re-attaching pieces already done because they just fall off. At times, building this final stage, bag 2 could be very frustrating.
In conclusion: Once completed, the F14 A Tomcat looks impressive and stunning. To get there requires patience, endurance, self control. It’s just a pity that designers did not make more effort/better planning for the bricks/pieces in stage 2, bag 2 to fit better and tighter.

Great set, a superior model and far more realistic than any Lego set.
Flash forward ~35 years to present day and we now have the COBI F-14 Tomcat building set. I still love building block toys, which I now share that passion with my 7 yr old son, and when I saw the F/A-18 Super Hornet from Top Gun: Maverick get released, I knew it was only a matter of time before the Tomcat came out. With the European Pound conversion to USD, Amazon’s price was about inline for what COBI was charging for a direct sale, (maybe even a little bit cheaper) so I purchased it.
The plastic build quality on the COBI set is very good. The plastic pieces fit very nice and crisp; their machine tooling tolerances are very high and each piece snapped together perfectly with clean edges, unlike many other 3rd party building toys, such as MegaBlok or the knock-off LEPIN kits. The COBI pieces are mint and felt great, with no waxy feeling to them. The build instructions are clear in general, however you have to pay attention as some of their slanted/curve pieces.. Very similar in size but in the instructions it’s hard to tell which piece they are referring to (flat sloped or slight radius curved, for same 2×1 length, etc) The majority of this kit is a light grey plastic so pay attention to the instruction arrows that they have denoting which brick on the piece for alignment purposes. My son and I took approximately 4 hours to build this (going slow) and it was time well spent.
The kit comes with 6 molded missiles, (4 not-really-AIM-54s, and 2 AIM-120s). It comes with two little cylinders for the IRST pod for the chin, and the way COBI designed the engines are pretty cool. The landing gear design seems weak, the weight of the model when on the wheels will make the rear landing gear camber out. There is a tailhook, but no signature F-14 airbrake or dual external fuel tanks, sad face emoji :(. The swept wings are neat- however they are not geared so each wing moves independently. The model also has fully movable rear horizontal flaperons, which are attached via ball joint. Vertical stabs are molded, as well as the nose cone and front fuselage, which differs a lot from what a traditional LEGO build philosophy that try to use bricks to create the shape, but in this case, it’s a good mix of the shape they’re aiming for and practical use of plates. My favorite part of this kit is the dual jet engine intake design with the canted angles (just like the real aircraft) and once its put together and the top plates put on, I felt the designers did an excellent job on implementation. There’s no radar antenna behind the nose cone, just a 2×2 plate to attach the nose to, but the canopy opens to reveal Maverick and Goose mini-figs in all their glory.
These two mini-figs are full size, unlike the half sized Mini-Fig you get of in the COBI F/A-18 Super Hornet kit. The prints on the helmets are nice and for Maverick’s head you get Tom Cruise’s signature smirk, and with Goose, you get Anthony Edwards’ signature mustache. The cockpit doesn’t have very much in detail other than one control stick for Maverick, so if you want to customize it there is a 2×1 open space in front of Maverick’s mini-fig where you can gen up like an up front controller or multi-function display.. The canopy is a single piece with molded in lines, a little bit of black paint or black sticker would have been nice for detailing. Also of note: NO STICKERS! all the details on the jet are printed onto the plastic, which is a pretty nice move. The model set comes with a flight stand if you want the plane off the table, but it’s a little weak and the model will wobble from slight bumps.
I’m really happy with this purchase and enjoyed building it with my son. If you’re a Top Gun fan, an aviation enthusiast, and/or like high-quality building block sets: this is a great set from COBI. Next move will be requesting permission for a fly-by!
Update: hab die fehlenden Teile von Cobi problemlos nach bekommen, somit nun komplett und ich bin happy, wer sich ber die Zeitspanne der Nachlieferung rgert (bei mir ca. 10 Tage), versuch das mal bei den Dnen, dafr hab ich fast 3 Monate gebraucht bis die Ersatzlieferung kam. Und das mit Ignoranz, Fotobeweis und, und, und.
