Very light and comfortable shoes. No need for thick socks.
Excellent walking shoes. Comfortable and good fit. Good value worth paying the extra for.
Mine aren’t broken in yet but they seem quite comfortable
Comfortable trail shoe with good grip. Waterproof so far. Pleased with fit, size as expected.
I wore my first pair virtually every day for more than 5 years. Must have walked at least 4000 miles in them. Replacement pair just as good.
These are actually my second pair of these walking shoes, as I loved them so much that I bought another pair when my old ones got worn out.
They are the best Walking Shoes I have owned by far. They fit like a comfy trainer and are very hard wearing, grippy and keep your feet warm and dry in even heavy rain.
These are great shoes – price, fit and style but because they are waterproof my feet do get a bit sweaty if worn all day. Small price to pay for such a good all rounder.
Very comfortable hiking trainers. They kept my feet dry whilst walking the dog in long very wet grass.
The only slight problem is that I found the laces to be a little short and for a quality product should have included an extra pair.
Excellent walking shoe and highly recommended as a comfortable, good value and waterproof option.
Great walking trainers very comfy and have a good grip. Soft leather and fully waterproof. Liked these so much this is my third pair (I have them in brown as well) purchased again to replace pair I purchased in May 2022. I do a lot of walking (average 35 miles a week) so they do take a battering.
Arrived promptly. Packaged sufficiently.
The shoe fits as expected and appears well made.
The weight is mid-range. Very comfortable straight from the box.
Only time will tell whether this is a durable walking shoe but the signs are all good do far.
I would recommend this Columbia Peakfreak Venture low rise walking shoe.
Walking shoes arrived on time well protected against damage in post, shoes fitted well done lots of walking, they comfortable to wear and easy on my feet, well worth the money paid.
I liked the style, the comfort, the quality, and best of all the price.
Different lacing system and a slightly narrower fit mark out my latest purchase from Columbia. My last pair have been relegated to garden duties as the grip has got to the stage where I wouldn’t wear them for hiking. Waterproof and immediately comfortable, the only issue I have had (with all my shoes) is fairly aggressive wear on the inner heal /Achilles guard. These new shoes are light enough without feeling cheap and remain comfortable all day.
A bit more trainer like than in photo. But good fit, solid and waterproof. Smart enough for work
…and these would hold up just fine.
These are my third pair of Columbia shoes in 4 years, I am heavy so I do wear shoes out, but these hold up remarkably well. I must have covered 1500 miles in my last pair, and while they’re still wearable, the tread was starting to go a bit. Even then, they did not break, and did not let water in.
I have every confidence these new shoes will last another couple of years, and I highly recommend them.
I actually bought these shoes to wear as working shoes not walking shoes, I’m a plasterer and prefer a shoe or trainer rather than a work boot, but I needed a shoe that was flexible, durable, waterproof, and most of all comfortable to wear for long working days. The Columbia Peakfreak Venture are perfect for this.
I could happily buy a second pair for hiking use, and would definitely recommend these shoes.
So i was a bit worried buying shoes on here, must say though these are really good! Very comfortable, keeps my feet nice and warm, great grip and all in all just a really well built pair of shoes. Orderd a tad to big but eh, good enough!
Tried these as an alternative to my usual first choice of Merrell’s. Fit as expected. Hard firm sole and look synthetic. Most importantly they are waterproof. Hopefully will wear in and look better with age.
Very comfy fit, waterproof and hard wearing sole unlike other shoes of similar price and descriptio
Only worn around house for few hours, so will have to wait and see how they are after few weeks walk dog over farm fields
I haven’t starred them for durability. (I’ve only had them a week Amazon!) They are comfortable though, good to walk it, and the grip on the sole is good. They seem well made and they are very light. Good value for money too, I think. I’ve never tried Colombia shoes before but on my experience of these so far I would be happy to choose them again.
I bought these for a week of trekking. As you can see from the pictures, I gave them a good work out.
These are the best I have ever owned and the only one’s that weren’t defeated by wet grass. Whether walking uphill or downhill on grass, mud and stone I always felt sure of my footing. My feet did not get wet once, and were comfortably warm all day.
I would definitely recommend these.
I needed new pair of walking shoes. After much research for the budget I had these were coming out on top. So after a week of walking the south west coastal path (dry conditions) I can’t fault them. The comfort level was more than I was expecting. The grip an the flexibility in the shoe was superb, no rubbing or discomfort at all. So if you’re budget allows these are worth the money. They also look good in the pub for those rainy days.
This is a very light , comfortable walking shoes and would highly recommend them . The only fly in the ointment was Amazon appeared to hike the price up overnight after several viewings of the shoe . I was warned by friends this can happen. I asked Amazon why but was informed no one answered my question.
These walking shoes are very comfortable underfoot, are sturdy and look well made. However, be warned that they are slightly smaller than expected. I normally wear a size 9 and that’s what I ordered. Wish I had gone for a half size bigger as there is some cramping at the widest part of the foot. I’m hoping they will wear-in/stretch. I can only think that in Vietnam, where they are made, people have narrower feet!
Really pleased with this purchase. There was no wearing in needed at all. Lightweight and waterproof. I’d like to give them five stars but obviously durability is important and that is to be determined. I would be surprised , though , if they didn’t come through on that score.
I ordered these online frrom Amazon and it is now four months that I am wearing them. They are extremely comfortable and are now quite worn but not yet excessively. To quantify this, I should describe the conditions that they undergo every day. I walk very fast for just over 1.5 hours every day with these shoes. They are therefore subjected to quite tough usage, particularly given that I walk in all weathersand all kinds of terrains (fields / road / gravel / etc.) as well. By way of comparison, the last pair of shoes I had before these, lasted for just over two weeks, under the same conditions. The pair before that was even worse in that it lasted just over one week before falling apart entirely.
If you walk quite intensely and fast, I believe these are some of the best shoes you can get and they are very reasonably priced as well. I found the shape of the sole to be ideal for the walking I do and I also found the material extremely durable.
As a testament to just how highly I think of these shoes. I was going to order another pair. Unfortunately, they have been discontinued. I still stuck with the same brand, which appears to be fantastic and suits every single one of my needs. I shall review those as well in the not too distant future.
Edit: Well the shoes have now been worn completely. They lasted over five months which, by my calculations, means over 1000 miles of intense walking. I believe this is pretty good going for a pair of shoes!
These shoes are great! Worth the wait for them to come into stock.
Excellent fit, very comfortable. Use them for my daily walks on a mix of paths, trails and fields. Not been tested in heavy rain yet. Super comfy and look pretty custom. Only had a week. Will update after a couple of months to see if they hold up but so far so good. Would buy again and again.
Very comfortable and nice chusoning ,had three six and seven mile walks so far. bit of mud and wet grass, with no problem, willcheck waterproof of shoes as we go but I think they will be ok as the quality is generally good .up date been out in heavy rain and found to be waterproof, done a few 10 and 12 mile walks now and I find them very comfortable and cushioned.
I bought these boots a little apprehensively as I was concerned about buying footwear online, but I’m absolutely delighted with my purchase. The fit is excellent (bought “true” size if there is such a thing). I usually take a UK 10.5 or 11, ordered 11 and they are a really comfortable fit. The quality seems very good, and they didn’t need breaking in as the comfort has been good from day 1. I walk about 4 miles a day in them and have had no problems whatsoever. Time will tell as to how long they last, but after several weeks of daily wear so far I’m very impressed
I’m comparing these to a pair of MOAB’s I had from a couple of years ago and I have to say that these Columbia’s are excellent in comparison. The fit is considerably bigger than the Merrell’s. I’m a uk size ten and with Merrell, I have to order a full size bigger in order for them to fit. Columbia seem to be true to size for me.
The grip of these Columbia’s is far better on just about every type of surface. I use them for dog walking and so far, they have been excellent. The waterproofing appears to work well and so far (a few weeks in) they have not let a single drop of water through. This includes walking through extended areas of wet grass and muddy farm fields.
These are a practical, lightweight walking shoe which deliver on their promise of being waterproof. They are comfortable to walk in and for me, I do at least 5 miles a day in them with no discomfort at all. For the price, you can’t wrong and in my humble opinion, a far better walking shoe than anything else I’ve tried recently, including the more expensive Merrell’s. Arguably these are not the most attractive looking from a style point of view but, walking the dog is not a fashion parade.
I’ve come to love Columbia shoes recently as they do half sizes and fit me feet nicely.
These do that job perfectly, however unlike the last few pairs that I’ve owned, these have a distinct “walking boot” look to them rather than casual shoe or trainer.
Not a problem as such, but the style doesn’t quite come across in the photos
Columbia Men’s Peakfreak Venture Lt Walking Shoe.
Bit more expensive than i’d normally go for.
but glad i did these are excellent walking shoes. I haven’t had them long but have walked miles in them already.
realy comfy and no blisters or even sore bits great.
good shock absorption, and the grip is very good.
The laces don’t lock so are easy to get off.
My feet always get very hot in most shoes/boots and they do get warm in these but not uncomfortably so.
I’m very pleased with these having never bought Colombia before.
Would recommend to anyone looking, as i was, for a comfortable light weight walking shoe.
I really like these, so far! I haven’t tried them in the rain so can’t comment on the waterproofing but they’ve been very comfortable for the urban walking I’ve been doing during lockdown. I’ve to watch my lower back and these have been great for shock proofing when used on pavements. Also delighted to find an 11 that fits properly…a very rare achievement these days.
Very surprised that these shoes fit so well as I mistakenly ordered a smaller size than I normally wear! They also seem well made and are at least waterproof in drizzle which is the only water test they have had so far. Overall I am very pleased with them.
Very comfy straight out of the box. The
only shoes I’ve ever owned not to need
breaking-in. They even feel good with thin socks but they are a slightly wide fit and would accommodate a thicker sock.
The rubber on the sole is maybe a bit softer than I expected and possibly not as thick to but the payoff with that is that it’s a light shoe for everyday use. Great for light trails too. They look good and are finished nicely.
This is my second pair of Columbia walking shoes and both pairs have been extremely comfortable. There is a generous width to the shoe and well rounded front to allow spread for the toes. The height clearance for the toes is also good so there are no pressure points. With the first pair the quality was perfectly acceptable, but the finish of these new shoes is noticeably better, in fact at this price, I can’t fault them. They look like they should be in a higher price bracket, as a result they should be durable, time will tell.
They have good shock absorbing soles and insoles and the shoes are flexible from new, much better than you would normally expect for a walking shoe. I walk up to five miles a day on country lanes in all weather (no cross country hiking) and these have been totally waterproof, even in the recent heavy snow.
I’ve noted that with walking shoes I’ve bought in the past couple of years that I’ve had to order the next size up from my usual size. This also applies to this shoe. I’m only guessing, but I think this may be caused by shoe companies going for global sizing (US/EU/UK etc) and you can’t perfectly match each sizing system, so there has to be a little compromise.
Update Jan 2018: Regrettably I had to return my shoes. The upper tongue brushing on that skin area was now a problem. I really couldn’t figure out why one shoe felt a lot better than the the other shoe. Checked the tongue was sitting properly. Tried wearing thicker socks to see if that fixed the problem, yet the problem persisted. A bit sad to return this item as it had a premium quality look to it. Could be a one off faulty item, hope it is. Seller was brilliant. Refunded quickly. I’m still a fan of certain Columbia shoes, and will no doubt see what else is on offer.
Very impressed when i received the Peakframe Venture (grey/black). A bit getting used to if you’re used to buying black or white trainers/shoes most of the time, but I find it looks amazing.
Now for the fit. The first day or two, the right foot was uncomfortable as the upper tongue was brushing a bit hard near the beginning of my second and third index toes. Don’t panic! Sometimes shoes need a while to break in. My tip would be to just try it around the house, that way if the seller provides a refund on the product, then this can be done, otherwise if you wear it outside and return it, then its up to the discretion of the seller. Moving on to the good stuff. Pleasantly surprised after a few tries that the shoes felt much better. I was going to return the pair if the problem persisted. There’s a very minimal unease on the right foot, and really this would go away when having a proper walk outside. When moving your heel up to test how the shoe shapes, you’ll find the sides extend a little. I’d prefer that, rather than having a tighter fit around the sides of your foot, which may feel constricted.
Design/build/looks – My older boots were Columbia, and stood the test of time, so for build quality that will take everything that you throw at it, Columbia is the brand to look for. My pair looks rugged, yet has a trainer/sneakers look to it. It’s a joy to wear as it’s comfy, and looks good to the eye. The rubber is solid and protects areas like toes, and heel. This brand name is definitely up there with the best. I think it’s a no.1 brand, but i’m partial 🙂
