Having used this Cooker Hood for a couple of days, I must say that I am impressed. Even on maximum power, the hood remains remarkably quiet, the suction power could be stronger but it still manages to remove most of the odors, smoke, and steam.
Wanted a powerful but stylish looking extractor fan and this was perfect. Flush fitting and easy to get in the right position as it hangs on a bracket so you set that where you want it and just hang it on then add some securing fixings.
Nice sleek black glass and very powerful.
As someone who loves to cook, I know that maintaining a clean and odour-free kitchen is essential. My old stainless steel cooker hood decided she no longer wanted to suck so it was time for an upgrade. I picked this stylish tempered glass monster and let me tell you, it’s been such an improvement.
First of all, let’s talk about the design. They say looks don’t matter – well in this case they do! This hood is not just your average, run-of-the-mill kitchen appliance. No, no. It’s sleek, modern, and sexy. I mean, it’s almost like having a hot date in your kitchen! And the tempered glass gives it that extra oomph, making it look like a million bucks.
But let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. How does it perform? Well, my friends, it performs like a champion. The touch controls are so easy to use, even my technologically challenged grandma could figure them out. And the LED lights are bright enough to make your kitchen shine like a diamond. But that’s enough about the looks, let’s move onto performance…
…It’s like having a personal fan club in my kitchen. Every time I turn it on, I feel like I’m on a stage and the hood is my audience, cheering me on as I cook up a storm. And when I’m done, the auto-shutoff function is like a standing ovation, giving me a round of applause for a job well done.
It sucks better than my previous one and it has significantly improved the air quality in my kitchen.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, my friends. There are a few downsides to this hood. For one, it’s a little noisy. But you know what they say, “if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!” And secondly, cleaning the tempered glass can be a bit of a pain in the you-know-what. But let’s be real, what kitchen appliance isn’t a pain to clean?
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a kitchen appliance that not only performs like a pro but also makes you feel like a star, then this bad boy is the one for you. Just be prepared to have a cheering section every time you use it!
Our extractor fan has always been awful. The grease would just build up and in the end we just stopped using it.
I was a bit dubious about getting (and fitting) this, due to it not being a known brand… But actually, it’s really, really nice, and looks super stunning in place of our other one.
Pros:
* Very easy to install
* Minimalist design and interface
* Powerful extraction with modes
* Can be unfolded or folded
* Very quiet
Cons:
* No carbon filter provided
* There is no lock on the screen
* No obvious certification
The brand
================
I have never heard of TopStrong before, but they definitely seem to do a lot of home-themed products and a range of cooker hoods too by researching them. From looking into them they seem respectable enough, albeit there are some translation issues in the listing.
It’s tricky to find much about certification with the product which concerns me slightly, but given we only run it when we’re in the house, I’ve come to trust it more and the electrics and housing all looks good and legit.
The unit itself
================
The unit, right out of the box is lovely; a huge black glass front with a central accent with no visible physical buttons. It gives off an air of modern design and is super elegant.
The screen is the fascia for the extraction unit which is housed in the body behind it. It’s attached via a hinge and a spring clasp holds it shut. If you lift the screen up, you get access to the aluminium filter panels behind.
The only minor annoyance is not having a lock to hold the screen up while you remove the filter panels, but they are so light it’s not really an issue.
Settings
================
There are only 5 buttons which are touch sensitive and easily operated. Power on or off/timer/lights and buttons for fan power.
The settings for power go to a maximum of 9. I don’t know if there is a description for how much air this displaces, but judging from the way it chucks air out of the top… I would guess quite a lot!
The timer function is a nice touch, especially if you have finished boiling food or slightly burnt something when you leave the kitchen. You can set a 1 or 5 minute timer to extract the remnants out of the room.
Extraction
================
As per mentioned, setting #9 is very powerful. We got the wall mounted unit, and this has two options for extraction: #1 is re-circulation; you need a carbon filter (not supplied although not too pricey) for the exhaust port on the top side of the extractor unit (this just vents air back out into the room). This is better suited for dry cooking or frying to catch all the grease in the air.
#2 is vented. The unit came a tube of silver flexible ducting (150mm diameter). This would attach to the exhaust port and then you can attach whatever ducting you require to the other end and port the exhaust out of the house. We intend to use it like this, but it does require some work to complete particularly due to our house setup and needing to get through airbrick! It is compatible with standard ducting from your local DIY shop though which is great.
Installation
================
This was easier than anticipated. Our unit had a very simple installation luckily – I felt quite intimated by it all but my partner managed it in no time! The instructions were fairly comprehensive (including instructions for other designs too) and straightforward.
In the pack is a bracket with 3 screw holes. The extractor hangs from that and has an additional 2 holes in the extractor main body. The fan came with a standard three point plug too! But we needed to wire ours into a junction box. There is also housing to cover the silver ducting for aesthetic purposes; this attaches via a simple bracket screwed into the wall.
Verdict
================
I haven’t got this set up the way I want to have it just yet, but so far I am super impressed with the build quality, look and power of the fan. The glass is lovely and just requires a quick buff to clean, the controls very easy and it’s relatively quiet (but powerful!). It is also very compact compared to our other fan.
The filters are easy to find and purchase (just look up CF-D filter) so you don’t have to use vented, but we do want to set it up like this eventually just so we don’t get any moisture buildup in the kitchen at all (which is always an issue in the winter and I’d rather not have the windows open all the time!).
Overall, super pleased with this and we’ve had compliments already on how nice it looks. Will update my review if we hit any issues.
i was struggling to find a hood that was small around the 60cm size but also offered powerful suction, this was the best i could find. it has stylish design, touch control, very powerful suction and was a fair price. did need a professional to install it as the wiring was different to the previous one, but once done the results were fantastic. it’s not too loud even when running at maximum power. very impressive.
Cooker Hood 60cm from TopStrong
Actual sizing could surprise you because it looks like a heavy-duty piece when it’s actually not. This range hood will work fine for a stove about its size, which is too small, in my experience. First of all, regular pots and pans are too big for a small stovetop, and if you need to cook a lot for, say, a family of five, you’ll be doing a lot of frying and boiling. Within a few weeks, the filter would be full, and grease would be forced inside, so carbon filters are a must if you don’t want to deal with deep cleaning, which means dismantling and a greasy smell. Unless you remember to clean the filters every week or two or after a heavy cooking session, you’re good with this size and capacity for a range hood. I like that the filters are dishwasher safe since manual scrubbing will damage the filter in the long run. Cleaning filters by hand creates such a fine mess too. The design is elegant, no doubt. So, I’d recommend this for some light, occasional cooking.
Good quality, smart look cooker hoods, quite easy to install as well, i love the glass screen touch, easy and clear to understand, it’s with 9 Levels of suction, and it’s powerful enough, quiet, even has 1-9 minutes delay shutdown function, can set up to continue to work after cooking, the style fits perfectly with my kitchen too, I’m really happy with i
