The Modular Part In The PSU Was Very Useful As It Made My Build Less Messy.
The CPU and Mobo connectors are preinstalled – which is why this is semi modular.
This runs in a 3060, 5 5700x build I have. Not loud at all and it hasnt caused me issues – I lile corsair PSUs and will continue buying with corsair. To check power requirements put your build into pc part picker and itll tell you and so you can gauge the power youll need.
Should be good for a few years untill I require higher voltage output. Fits snug and the wires are malleable
Did not disrupt the cable manageme
For my specific setup, the cable management isn’t ideal but I’m nit-picking. Nevertheless it’s a quality product.
In my experience never had issues with corsair power supplies. All work as intended, are quiet and with a 7 year warranty you cant go wrong!
Replaced my old 400 watt. Now my GPU no longer bootleneck and overclock my ram to increase fps.
Its a really stable, afforadble mid-range option for most PCs and gaming rigs.
I recommend the brand and the product as it’s 80+ Gold so you don’t have to stress .
I am currently using it with a 1050ti and i5 10400f .
Surprisingly it’s not loud at all , I haven’t even heard it at all so yeah very happy with that.
However I had a slight issue with one of the screws , it just wouldn’t screw all the way in.
Otherwise the product is perfect and trustworthy
Easy to install cables, semi-modular which is all I really need. It gives good power and didn’t electrocute me like my last one… No problems with it and it includes all the wires I needed. Specs below
1660 Super
16GB RAM
i5 9400F
2TB HDD + 2TB SSD
Powers all just fine
Very easy to install because of the modular system. Well made with no sharp corners (so no scratches when you are in tight corners)
Very powerful and quiet (550w)
I recently upgraded my PC. For me the most important part is the PSU. I’ve always used Corsair. My last one lasted 8 years and only recently started to power off. The semi modular design is nice. Comes with screws and cable ties. The unit is a good weight and runs very quiet. I’m running a Ryzen 5 3600 at 4.2 mhz, MSI B450 Mortar Max mobo, 1660ti, 2 x 8GB ADATA Gammix Ram at 3200mhz and a couple of Kingston SSD’s. 550w is more than enough. Delivery was next day. Good stuff.
quality unit and cables, looks nice, easy to install and pretty much inaudible at idle, great product 5*
Runs very quietly, and being semi-modular it was much easier to install than my old one was to take out. I am very happy with my purchase, and it being gold rated I expect to be very happy for a long while to come.
I got this to replace my 11 year old VX450W, which was straining with my GTX1070Ti as the fans had to spin faster to keep the temperature down.
This handles the same power draw with no issues and remains consistently silent. It’s also a lot more more efficient which gives me peace of mind.
The 24 pin mobo power connectors (the non-modular ones) are quite thick with a mesh sleeve so these can be quick awkward in terms of cable management. But the modular cables are ribbons so are easier to bend into place and take up much less space in the case, therefore allowing better air circulation.
I could have got away with leaving out one of the SATA power connectors but I would have had to move my optical drive down a couple of slots as the space between that and the HDD was more than 10cm.
Corsair CP-9020133-UK TX550M 550 W 80+ Gold Power Supply Unit, Black
This was a bit of an emergency buy as the bearings in my last psu were definitely on the way out, or in fact, practically gone.
This one was recommended to me, this one and absolutely no other.
Corsair is a good brand and gold is apparently the best. I do wonder if I shouldn’t have bought a high Wattage though.
Anyway, it was fitted today by son who did moan about the installation a bit as he had to change some things around due to the way the cables are. Regarding the cables – this is a modular psu, so the cables are not installed already. Rather you plug them in the side. The main cables are fitted though. All cables are supplied as well as cable ties.
So far, it is wonderfully silent and seems to have fixed issues I was having with one hard drive so I am happy.
It works great, more than enough sata and power connectors and a lot of power for high end system i would recommend this for sure first time build with this worked great.
Great for tidying up for un used cables, very quiet too. no system crashes at all, which i think is down to low budget units. If you want to change a PSU, then this is one to do for.
It took some time for the product to arrive. The performance is good and had no issues with it since installed.
Seems quiet, case fans and gpu much louder. My spec: samsung evo m.2 ssd, crucial ssd, nvidia 2060 gpu, 2x case fans, nzxt case, 2 x 8gb corsair rgb ram, MSI pro carbon AC motherboard. Ryzen 3600. Plenty of space and power for more fans and maybe a cooler. Hope this helps.
I have bought a couple of products from Corsair and they have all been great and its the same again for this product. For the price i don’t think you could get better, I would recommend it to anyone. It was easy to setup and had plenty of cables , its very quiet which is also a plus.
Having build a pc last month i decide to get this watt of 550 as i not doing high levels of gaming, mainly just video editing and photo editing. Very quite.
My 10 year old Desktop XPS that is still running 24/7 died because of a failed power supply. This replacement fitted in. Fitting was ok but some of the old cabling ran deep in the system and I had to remove the heat sink on the cpu to get it out and the new cabling in. New modular cabling much better neater than old cabling. Had all the connectors I needed. Took a couple of hours to fit. Works fine.
No problems so far its a funny thing even my i7 chip computer just feels faster with this corsair psu, had to replace my old psu with this one as my 8 years old 650w psu decided to bake 3 hard drives into paper weights happy
The PSU is very quiet and compared to the budget 500W PSu its replacing its about 50% heavier (which Im taking to mean that the quality is better). It makes an audible click when switching off.
On the downside, I have a midi case (I probably didnt need such a big case, but I assumed it would be easier to work with given chunky fingers). I also have 3 internal drives and a DVD player requiring SATA and as such, the relatively short SATA cables provided actually failed to reach all of the dockets. As it is, Im powering 2 out of 3 drives, which I had to remount in a weird way to make the cabling work. This is disappointing for such an expensive PSU: they could provide more cable options for different package sizes!)
Glad I went with this one instead of the RMX series, I wanted modular but the only cables that are not removable from this PSU are cables that are required to be connected anyway, like the CPU & mobo atx power, so it’s just as good as a fully modular PSU. Quality is great, hopefully it lasts longer than my last unit.
As this is semi-modular, you can keep your case tidier, which is always good. My PC seems almost silent, even while playing games, so sound isn’t an issue. So far, a great experience.
Not really able to talk in depth about PSUs. But here is my experience with this one in particular.
Things I like:
Very quiet and supposedly efficient PSU (thanks to its 80+ GOLD rating) – had no issues with random PC shutdowns or any problems caused by this unit. Just remember to make sure that the 24pin and 4 or 8 pin are firmly plugged in because system instability can be caused by improperly inserted cables – it is a no-brainer but even the best of us make such mistakes.
I like that there is a satisfying when the PC is turned off. It may be alarming at first to hear such a loud click but it is fine. If I remembered correctly there was a certain smell when I first opened the box but the smell eventually went away.
In conclusion if you want a reliable and efficient power supply with a long lasting warranty to ease the mind, then this PSU is for you.
Product works as described however does feel a bit flimsy. Docking a star as I expected about more quality feel for the price and bronze standars. Connectors are fine, nothing worth writing home about. Docking one star as the PCI rail did not have enough juice to power my gfx card unlike my other coolmaster. Used in another PC instead as it is smaller than all the other ATX power supplies I was looking at. I’m hindsight seaasonc had an eco model on offer or a few pounds more should have gone with that.
3 Star product and 5 star seller for an easy exchange.
Bought this as I needed a new PSU to support my overall new build. Decided to go for this and boy am I glad I did. Easy to install. Sleek look. Choose what cables you need. Put the ones you dont away in a box for any future use. Sleek black cables great price
Had another brand PSU (Enermax) that failed after a few years use, so wanted to replace with equally reputable brand, so Corsair seemed to gain high level reviews.
Came suitably packaged, including all cable and accessory attachments you could expect to need in a modern PC. Product feels weighty and well built, and fitting was a breeze (certainly achievable by a novice).
Currently been installed for a few months, and so far so good. Noise isn’t noticeable from this (above other case fans at least), and no particular whines or high pitched squeals which I suffered from in the past (bad capacitors cause that I believe).
Would recommend.
When you are buying a product from Corsair, 99% of the time you know you are getting quality products. This does certainly follow suit and for a budget power supply I am very impressed to say the least.
After taking it out of the box you will realise it’s very solid and built really well with a subtle design to suit any build or colour scheme. Inside the box comes plenty of nice cables and cable ties to help you tuck away them pesky wires. The wires are covered up in black coating and look really nice with my arctic white build. When my pc is loaded up this power supply is so quiet and I can hardly hear it at all apart from my fans.
If you are looking for a good power supply for an affordable price this is a great choice
Corsair is a reputable company known for its tech specifically for computers. Therefore, you won’t be dissapointed with this. I have been using this PSU for over a month now and it had not dissapointed me thus far.
Comes with all the screws needed to mount your power supply to your case.
Comes with the CPU and motherboard power cable, which is an 8 PIN connector.
If your system requires a 4 pin, you can still use it in its 8 pin slot and it will work fine.
Corsairs “gold standard” rating entails that the PSU is rated for at least 87% efficiency at 20% load, 90% at 50% load, and 87% at 100% load. Meaning, if your system draws 100W of power, it will draw as close as possible to that specified wattage than it would if it was silver or bronze standard.
(Bronze and silver generally use more wattage than specified, thus you will be saving less on energy bills than you would using gold standard! EG. specified 100W when its really drawing 125W). Hope that makes sense.
This 550W gold standard power supply is currently powering:
RX580 GPU
RYZEN 2600 CPU
MSI TOMAHAWK B450 Motherboard
16 gb 3000mhz LPX Vengeance RAM
M.2 WD BLUE Sata SSD
x1 500GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
1x HDD
Which is a considered mid tier PC (799)
Note: If you are new to building PC’s, you will require a power supply with a higher wattage in order to power your system. If you have parts similar to mine, this PSU will be fine!
I wanted a dependable psu for the PC I was putting together, which used a Gigabyte H310M S2H motherboard. Being semi-modular it enabled me to only use the cables that were necessary so keeping the case neat and tidy.
So far so good, semi modular which helps greatly with cable management. My only problem with the product was that it came with a power plug cable not suitable for the UK. Back and forth with amazon customer support and Corsair, the issue wasn’t really resolved. Amazon said they would provide me with money back equivalent to that of a new cable, or I can just return the product and get a different one, while Corsair pretty much said they couldn’t anything, and they couldn’t send me a new correct cable. I ended up buying a new cable, which cost me roughly 7.
Can’t go wrong with Corsair, excellent PSU.
Only weird thing is that I live in the UK but the box had a Canadian/Japanese power cord, so I have to buy a separate UK cord now. :/
our first semi modular psu and can safely say i wont ever go back to the old ones after using this. they make cable management such a stroll in the park
I’ve always been a fan of Corsair PSUs and this upper middle range model is no exception. It’s powered my 4.5Ghz overclocked i5-8600k and GTX 1080 ti with ease and I’ve had no issues with it since as expected from the build quality Corsair have are renowned for (or in this case, the OEM of choice to have built it).
The fan is barely audible on load (the unit itself doesn’t run too hot either) and it was simply a case of plug and play the first time I installed it to my friend’s new gaming build and I am certain it should last a long time, assuming he retains a single GPU set up as the 550w just be more than sufficient for that set up.
It gets the job done so long as 550w is all you need for your PC. Make sure you check the wattage of all the parts in your computer before committing because this isn’t a cheap power supply by any means. That doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it though! I never hear it and it has given me perfect stability.
Was delivered fast using Amazon Prime Trial, perfect condition and works as it should. The fan is extremely quiet. It comes with all cables and additions as needed. Plus the 7 year warranty speaks for itself! Thank you Amazon and Corsair!
Extras for curious buyers:
It does come with a power cable.
It also comes with a bag of screws to fit the PSU in your computer case + some cable ties for cable management.
The only cables fixed into the PSU are the motherboard power and CPU power cable which are needed no matter what your build is.
If you notice some cables like the CPU connector is an 8PIN and your mobo requires a 4PIN, just pull the connector ends apart, you don’t have to work some magic and pull it up or down, just simply apart; it should not break.
This is powering a i5 6600K, GTX 1060 and 8GB RAM with ease, if you have anything similar, then have no worry it can power it fine. I even read up this bad boy can power an i7 7700k and GTX 1080 TI, however I’d recommended you get a second opinion on that.
Update: the price updated a day after I bought this one. Now as cheap to buy the 650. Would return and get new one but not worth the hassle. Bit annoyed.
Decently priced semi-modular PSU that stays fairly quiet and cool. My complaints are that the weave on the 24-pin cable isn’t the best quality and there are no single connector SATA or 6/8pin PCI-E cables included, making cable management a little harder.
Background: After many returns of the CS450m power supply (also by Corsair) I finally settled on this power supply. Three of the CX450 units I had received all has a buzzing noise coming from the unit when on standby. The TX550M does not buzz like a bee.
My Specs:
* Ryzen 5 1600 (overclocked)
* GTX 1050ti
* 8Gb DDR4
* AsRock AB350M motherboard
This I like about it:
– Protected sleeved cables, peace of mind when working in a case with sharp corners and cuts.
– Modular design. This was my first modular power supply, and it was amazing to use and hide all the unnecessary cables.
– Audible click when the system is powered off
– Silent Fan. I have never heard this fan spin up, even when under full synthetic load.
– 5 Year warranty
Things I don’t like:
– Upon opening the box, I was presented with a very “chemically” smell. Although I don’t smell this now.
Overview:
Amazing quality Power Supply, nothing else to say….
