Brought for OS and system programs. My first M.2 and I couldn’t get over just how quick the boot up is, compared to older tech. I have these in both my gaming and work systems. Will buy more, recommended.

It doesn’t come with th screw to hold it in place. Didn’t know this when I bought the product. Bought specific screws online. Would have given 5 stars otherwise.

As well as the hardware you get software to do the transfer and to manage the environment afterwards. This is a really great product. I had an SSD slot in the laptop, so it was very easy to install and migrate.

Incredible difference in performance, my Dell 4500 laptop is like a new machine. Starts/shuts down almost instantly, silent when running, applications twice as fast. The solid state chips defragment with ease, everything in life is better, more smooth and less clunky.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis was bought after allowing the crucial website to scan and recommend for me.
You could choose various ways to buy it and Amazon seemed a trusty choice for me.
It was easy to install though I couldn’t manage to use the suggested free software (can be got from crucial site) to clone my old drive and instead installed a fresh copy of windows 10.
My machine seems a bit faster than previously and has a much more useful amount of storage so I am happy .

If you are installing inside a laptop, don’t forget to remove the battery.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is an entry level NVME drive; I’d say it is good value for money; It’s obviously not as fast as the TOP range SSD drives but for daily basis/moderate office work/domestic pc tasks it does the job very well; After many months using it I checked the dirve’s life span with the program crystaldisk info and it doesnt seem to have worn out significantly..

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBought to upgrade my son’s Lenovo T480. While this may only be a gen 3 drive it’s plenty fast enough for anything my son is likely to throw at it. I cloned a 256GB drive that was only half full in just a few minutes (over a Thunderbolt port) using an external enclosure.
Speaking of which the size of these drives makes them even more portable than an SSD and if you have access to fast ports it really makes it easy to move data around.

Installed windows on by cloning my os drive and now boot from the card and it’s super quick and I’ve got enough storage that I don’t need any other drives in my machine. Even though I still have 12 tb extra in drives my root drive c: is now 1tb happy days

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis drive, although my first buy of the NVMe ranges is the best I have ever owned. It is astonishingly very fast in all areas of deployment from start up of windows 11 pro in just under 7 seconds to opening demanding applications.
To top it all up, I had it for 119 and a 10 discount for buying it via the amazon mobile app, bringing total paid to just 109. You can’t beat that, can you? So far no issues with running it in an Intel i7 10th generation processor configuration with a 16GB memory and I’m loving it!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersCrucial are amongst the few trusted brands of PC components I use.
Bought this for my pc as my 2tb regular mechanical spinning HDD failed.
This is my second NVME and although it’s probably half as slow as my first – when transfer speeds are gigabytes per second it doesn’t really matter/see the difference.
Used for my mid range gaming pc it loads games just as fast as a friends new xbox (same game)
I also bought a small black vented heatsink which before/after testing reduced temperature by around 10 degrees on the drive (just clips around the drive) – always a good investment.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersCrucial P2 CT500P2SSD8 SSD Internal 500GB, Speeds up to 2400MB/s

I’ve installed this in my TUF F17 which was running very low on memory capacity due to all the games I’ve got downloaded, 500Gb seemed quite sufficient and doubled the overall storage to 1TB as I already had an existing 500Gb card in the machine.

Installation was straight forward once I had located the extra slot for the card, I also applied some thermal compound to the outside to help in the regulation of temperature on the card.

The laptop took a while to boot up initially no doubt due to the this new card I had inserted, I had to go to the disk management screen and initialise the memory and format the storage, once done I had the extra drive letter and more or less 500Gb of extra space.

I’ve now moved a few of my games to this storage freeing up my drive ‘C’. I’m not one for messing around with all these speed tests and doing screenshots, got better things to do with my time but what I can say is that the loading time of my games are as fast as ever, no drop in performance at all.

This card comes supplied boxed, a leaflet is enclosed telling you where to obtain the free cloning software which I take is if you’re upgrading from a smaller storage to this one or from a HDD. I’ve actually done this twice in my time and it can be a bit of a time consuming effort if all doesn’t go as intended, I can’t comment on the software from ‘Crucial’ but if this is your intended purpose of buying this storage then all I can say is good luck.

Overall, money well spent and it performs adequately for my needs.

    Happy to recommend.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI installed this on a computer I was building for a friend. The best thing that can be said of any storage is that I mentioned it’s capacity to him and told him it was fast, he used it for a couple of days and agreed that boot up/loading times were indeed very very fast. We’ve never mentioned it again. It works. For the load the average gaming pc puts on it it’ll likely go for a very long time, invisibly and without thought. I see this as an absolute win.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersBeen needing more space on my Win 11 PC for a while now and decided that at under 70 for this 1TB SSD looked like good value. Together with the free cloning SW for Crucial it was a breeze to move everything on to the new SSD for a non-techie like me ,and what a difference it made not only in capacity but also speed.

I am not a gamer or power user but for my simple day to day needs of web browsing , word processing , media consumption photo editing etc it is more than adequate.

    Can highly recommend this one!

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI wanted the largest ssd storage at the lowest price, this was it. This will be my boot drive and hold my steam collection, I don’t video edit and updates download automatically so i never wait for them anyway. A lot of reviewers commenting on large transfers slowing down, what do you expect at this price point. Its like buying a transit van and taking it to the drag strip, amazing for storing everything, crap at going fast… Go spend 300 on a 980 pro from Samsung, until direct access storage becomes a thing you can rest easy here as a budget gamer.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis is great. Its fast, durable, cheap (compared to other manufacturers), it performs the same and at the same level as other ssds and with 1tb of fast storage you won’t need to worry about waiting for your games to load or windows to open file explorer only to wait for 15 minutes searching on your hdd for a file; this will do it instantly. And as with any ssd there is no fuss and it is a easy installation and doesn’t require cable management or any space really unlike Sata ssds or hdds. So yes I 100% recomend to anyone looking for a relatively cheap, fast and reliable storage solution. And make sure your motherboard has an m.2 slot.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersPurchased, together with a Crucial CT1000MX500SSD1 to upgrade an 14 month old HP 17-by2501na laptop. I’d purchased this laptop primarily due to the screen size being 17 inch but after only a month upgraded it from 4Gb to 16Gb (2x 8Gb) of memory.
A few weeks ago I started to see a few issues so decided to replace the 1Tb 5400rpm SATA drive and the 16Gb Intel Optane memory on the laptop with this Crucial P2 CT500P2SSD8 500Gb SSD module for the Windows OS, and a Crucial CT1000MX500SSD1 1Tb SSD for extra storage.
After creating a Recovery Drive on a 32Gb USB Flash Drive I removed the old drive and Optane card and replaced them with this SSD card and the SSD drive then used the USB Recovery Drive to install Windows 10 from scratch.
The “new” system boots very quickly as expected and performance is much improved.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI use this drive as a boot drive on my main office PC and I can’t say I have any complaints. I’ve been using it for years now and it’s not showing any significant signs of wear or slow down and I can’t say in all my time as a computer tech that I’ve had any poor experiences with crucial. It’s a safe buy at a good price, if you want it get it.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersGood value SSD for use in caching with Asustor Lockster, main reason I purchased the 250GB version as I wasn’t using this for storage purposes, 250GB way to small nowadays to store files so if your using it for storage I’d recommend minimum 500GB.

Purchased 2 of them as I have 2 slots which gives me 232.89GB of cache which is overkill for a home user NAS. See after a raid cache setup a total of 500GB after formatting and activation I’m only getting 232GB so be aware of that!

Overall I’m happy with what I need it for and response is fast enough for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 250GB SSD for caching

    Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersBackground: I have a Legion 5 17in laptop, running i7 10th gen, 16Gb DDR4 RAM, GTX 1660, 512gb NVMe Samsung.
Usage: I don’t do games. I teach online and I bought this so that I could create online materials. I also edit and store photos (for which I have a range of editing software).

I installed a second SSD a 1Tb NVMe on which I store photos, videos, and audio materials for language learning.

However, I had almost filled the main 512Gb SSD with apps, etc, and I really needed to upgrade it.

I saw the Crucial P2 advertised on Amazon at a cheap price and I snapped it up.

I installed it yesterday. I am not a tech wiz; I’m an English teacher. However, taking the installation slowly and steadily, I was able to complete it without a hitch in 90 minutes (which includes 35/45 mins of cloning via Acronis True Image through the Crucial website.

I am happy to report that – so far – on DAY 2 no problems. A smooth, easy-to-accomplish installation.

After installing, I decided to read the customer reviews on Amazon. and oh! my heart sank. All the top reviews are so negative. (Yes, I should have read them before I purchased but I didn’t).

I am writing this review – which is very positive (so far!) – to redress the balance.

If anything changes, I will amend the review.

In any event, I’ll try to update the review after a few months usage.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersWon’t win any prizes for the fastest NVME drive you can get, but it does win a prize for is value for money. I only need a cheap and cheerful drive to be used as a cache in my NAS, so I don’t need mega speeds. All I need is a cheap drive that will last a reasonable time. The usable life of these is OK – not great but not too short. Using this as a cache rather than a standard system or data drive, does hammer it a heck of a lot so will be interesting to see how long it does last in this situation.

For reference, it’s replacing a WD Blue drive that ran out of write cycles and hence, died, that lasted just under 2 and a half years. Another reason to not spend big!

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis is the first M2 SSD (solid state disk) I have installed to a Dell desktop PC – make sure your pc has the appropriate slot by looking at memory and storage upgrades on the Crucial.com website.
Before you start to install the SSD, make a backup of your PC and create a recovery drive on a USB stick – just in case!
Installing the M2 SSD requires a Phillips + screwdriver. Once you have access to the slot, installing the M2 SSD takes under a minute. Your PC BIOS (startup configuration) will recognise the SSD and add it as a drive letter in Windows 10.
Crucial.com have an agreement with Accronis cloning software which entitles you to a free download of their disk cloning software. This is quite a large download so be prepared to free-up some disk space.
Great value upgrade and massive improvement in performance over a physical SATA hard drive.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersNot much to say really, the price is good for the capacity of drive, marked down a little on value as the price is all over the place, I paid just under 80 for mine, the next day it was under 60 and as I write this it’s just under 70??? M.2 drives are a doddle to install, slot it in and one screw, done. Speed seems good, benches at over 2 Gb/s read and write, have read that speed can drop on writing larger files due to the lack of dram.

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersiFixit provided the best images for disconnecting the battery and there are several videos on YouTube specialising in the installation of the NVME Crucial 1TB SSD into 13″ + 15″Retina MacBook Pros from 2013 through to 2015.
The actual removing of the back and replacing the SSD took only 15 minutes, but when I tried internet recovery in order to format the SSD, then I was going round in circles for about an hour, confronted with this error message:
The startup disk cannot be used a a restore source:-
‘To use this disk as a source, restart your computer and using the Recovery System, and open Disk Utility again’
Looking through the packaging for the manual, a small card fell out stating that Internet Recovery was not supported; you had to boot up using a thumb drive with Mojave installer on it; I had High Sierra (APFS) to hand, so used that + then formatting was straight forward.
Benchmark speeds showed MacBook Pro’s speed had pretty much doubled: Time Machine backup of 120 GB took just over 20 minutes.
Delivery was woeful: concerning the UPS access point which was a Newsagents about a mile away (I had been home but the UPS driver mustn’t have knocked loud enough); the opening hours were nothing like reality: it took 3 trips over 3 days and one phone call, (where the person hung up on me) to get my package.
Remember to backup and de-authorise any ILok Licenses you may have + access them again after installation.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI’ve never had an ssd even though my pc is very good. I’ve just never got down to it. As soon as I put this in and migrated os to it and sorted everything out wow. My pc went from 28 seconds to 8 with this m. 2. Crystal mark showed a read of 1300 and a write of 800. The write is very strange I done it a few times and it went from 2100 to 600MB/s. Tbh I’m not bothered about the numbers I believe the experience is way more important and it’s very fast. I only paid 45 pounds for the 500gb version so it’s a steel. Literally 6 times faster than my 200MB/s hdd.
