I really like the styling and amount of outputs on the dock, only think I would like to see is a power switch for it to power on the attached USB-C laptop.
Great integration with my work’s Dell Inspiron laptop. This dock charges, splits video with up to 3 screens, and has a USB/Network hub all from one USB-C cable.
Don’t get me wrong, you probably couldn’t game on this setup, but to be honest, I’m not sure whether the laptop or the dock would be the bottleneck if I tried this!
It’s perfectly sufficient for office work though, I use two full hd (1920×1080) screens at 60hz, and I’ve had no stutters, heat or problems.
I’d recommend this as a must for anyone with a Dell laptop to work on.
Purchased this as recommend by my employer. Works with my Dell PC and monitors, only issue I have is it sometimes disables my laptop’s Bluetooth. I’ve found the fix which is to boot it up not plugged into the dock, then dock it once fired up.
It does get quite hot, might be worth putting on a mouse mat to protect your surface of needed.
Overall does what’s needed so can’t complain much really.
I have two primary laptops, one for my client and one for my business (due to security). This dock has everything I need. Four fast USB ports, two DisplayPorts to drive my dual 32″ screens and gigabit Ethernet. But the real deal here is I can switch between laptops with a single cable and still use my setup to its full potential. No drivers were needed, it plugged and played. I get a warning about lower power when I boot the Thinkpad but it still charges perfectly well.
10/10
Two screens run from a laptop via the usb port. I use a d link and an hdmi. This leaves a spare HDMi. Also runs the web cam and the lan cable and the keyboard and mouse. I don’t have 4 k screens normal you tube works fine and Amazon prime videos but does not seem to like Amazon review videos!!!
What has sheerness and thickness got to do with a usb docking station? Any way. Bought this for my work laptop to increase the number of monitors I have attached. Does that spot on. I now have 2x hp24 inch 1920×1200 and one 1280×1024 NEC multisync in addition to the laptops own screen. All work as extended desktop, a total of 4 screens. so all I need now is better eyes so I can see the screens at a distance.
I’m using it to connect 3 external monitors to a Dell Lattitude 5490, for programming not games. No problems.
I’ve bought this to dock a Microsoft Surface 3 laptop. It does it’s job well, bringing power and gigabit Ethernet via its USB C port. This Dell dock is significantly better than Microsoft’s own offering.
This is shipped by Amazon to the UK, but it arrived with a European rather than UK 240V plug on it. At the price I was disappointed that I had to purchase a clover-leaf cable over and above in order to use it. If it hadn’t been for this omission this would be a 5 star review.
Great kit works really well. Can handle multiple connections to monitors, Ethernet and usb simultaneously. I have found dome can’t! And also supplies power to my Dell xps too.
Great product and has allowed me to set up a home office with ease, laptop and two monitors along with any other wireless devices can run off this. Deducting one star as the delivery took quite a while.
I bought this because my old hub failed after four years of continuous use. This is the fourth one of these hubs we have bought recently. They are not cheap but run large screens and lots of peripherals very well and are exceptionally easy to setup. They are connected to a variety of high spec Dell laptops, all running two, large, Dell screens in addition to standard peripherals. For all of them, I unpacked the hub, connected everything up and it all just worked. All that was required was to configure the Windows display settings for multiple screens. I particularly like the USB-C to USB built-in converter for the connection to the laptop. The only slight downside is the size of the large and chunky powerpack. The hub itself is neat and compact but you can end up with a rat’s nest of cables if you don’t have all wireless peripherals.
Impressed – it just worked! I’ve now got 2 hot-swappable laptops each able to exploit the single USB C connection – charging, peripherals, and 2 external HD monitors. It works well so far with my MS Surface Book 2 (15in, i7 with NVIDIA graphics), and my powerful Dell 5530. The Dell complains about slow charge so I’d fully imagine that it, like the Surface Book, will slowly run down the battery charge if I run the GPU and hardware very hard. But, in that rare case, I can always connect the normal laptop supplied power units.
On receipt I simply installed the latest DisplayLink drivers from dell.com/support (to each laptop). After then connecting the dock with the USB C (and nothing else connected) I then did the D6000 dock firmware update using the file at the Dell support site.
Not a single issue – very happy 🙂 so quite content to recommend.
I got this as part of my new desk setup. Dell’s recommended version was the more expensive 240W TB16 which was above my budget.
My requirements were:
– Single cable connection (ideally with Power Charge)
– Dual monitor setup and USB ports for wireless keyboard & mouse
– Plus additional ports to charge devices (iPhone) off
I can confirm that this dock does all of the above brilliantly!
Even though dell recommends the TB16 for an XPS 15, I have been using this dock for the last 3 weeks and it has kep my laptop charged at 100% throughout. I am a developer, running multiple docker images, visual studio, a billion chrome tabs and I have never had the need to plug in the main charger.
Unless you are constantly maxing out your CPU with Video/Photo editing this dock will charge your laptop via the USB-C.
I cannot fault it in any way.
I recently upgraded my Surface Pro 4 with Surface Dock with a Huawei Matebook X Pro and wanted similar functionality for it as my SP4.
I have two monitors so wanted to be sure I could still use them with my new laptop. After doing a bit of research I decided to order the Dell D6000 Dock as it seemed to have the same functionality albeit for USB-C, including pass-through charging , with up 65w (my Matebook charges at 45w so plenty).
The dock arrived in the usual spot-on Amazon delivery date.
Once you’ve got it set up and connected to your device you need to install some drivers. My laptop didn’t install them automatically, I’d to go through Device Manager to do this but they were installed directly from Microsoft.
It’s all now working a treat so if you’re looking for a dock for your USB-C laptop or tablet then I’d recommend this.
Bought this to use with my Dell XPS15, with USB-C connection. Drives my DICOM monitor (8-bit) as well as standard monitors, and trickle charges the laptop at the same time. Also used it effectively with an Asus Zenbook and Lenove T430 using their USB 3 connections as there is a built-in USB-C/USB-3 adapter, though there is no charging function through USB-3.
I’ve been using this dock to provide wired network connectivity, multiple powered USB ports, hdmi monitor, and charging the laptop. Setup was very dinoke, all the features I’ve used have worked faultlessly. Can’t yet comment on the additional monitor ports.
I have 3 laptops. Dell Xps 13, Dell Inspiron 2-1 and a HP elite book for work. This doc, works for all 3 perfectly. Granted, only the XPS supports charging via the usb-c port, but the screen and peripheral sharing makes this a much better option than the Dell TB16 which only worked with the XPS and was often buggy.
I am very happy with this docking statation as it supported my two monitors @2560×1440 resolution same time. I have been using it for a month and no issues so far.
Needs a firmware update as part of the setup process – otherwise works exactly as expected. None of the well known Microsoft Surface Dock problems associated with two monitors.
As with many other comments, Dell lose a star because the main cable between the dock and laptop is built in and not detachable. There is no reason for this design flaw to exist! It could easily be USB-C
It works great, I connected two screens and an external USB 3.0 disks and the all work without any problems.
Additionally the docking station is extremely quiet, you won’t hear any fan noise.
I also tried the TB16 before the D6000. and the TB16 was noisy and bulky, but this one is simply perfect.
