Sound quality is fantastic. Takes up very little space. Very powerful and very convincingly fills the room with sound when enjoying Atmos/DTS surround content.
In a small to medium sized room, I’ve never heard better from a soundbar.
Whereas the Denon does have an input, so plug a firestick or equivalent into it, and you have Dolby Atmos capability straight away. It also passes through Dolby Vision HDR if your tv supports it.
The resulting sound is very good overall, but obviously doesn’t shake the walls with bass, or have the ultimate in object placement surround. But, it does have a degree of spaciousness, and enough bass to make a difference.
If you’re in the market for a compact Soundbar, this one ticks most of the boxes, and is an equal to the Sonos beam gen 2, but with the added benefit of an HDMI input.
Decent speakers, my set up is a denon soundbar 716 sound bar, *2 speakers.
I have to admit, going from a wired System to a Wireless you notice the difference straight away.
The sounds from Wired is incomparable, I don’t care what anyone says.
Wireless is good as you don’t have all the wires so you have freedom but sound no way. You must be a technomaniac or or oblivious to say wireless is better than wired.
I have noticed some latency very small but I’m critical like this. You never get this with wired but as a conclusion.
I am happy with the set up.
Need to order a subwoofer to complete the set up, but it’s costing serious money to get a wireless system. Compared to other wireless systems? Not going to mention any Brands Denon Is highly superior, not just saying that because I have it. It’s just a fact.
I’ve heard the difference and yeah, other brands, sorry you have a lot of catching up to do. It’s like a 5 year old against Ussain bolt, no contest. You’re doing well but believe me, you are not even close to the game. Nothing against you but I’ve heard the expensive 500+ but still it’s tinny and crap.
If you think otherwise you must be delusional, the Denon is well far superior.
The denon has a decent weight to speakers, this lets you know there are quality components inside. I’ve seen these light weight brands, believe me. They are light weight because they’re hollow crap. Don’t sell it as light weight before functionality.
You’ll notice this straight away when you turn the bass up. Light means well rubbish !
If I can mark the Denon out of 10, it would be 6.5 or 7. It’s not quiet there but thereabouts. Yes I have it and it’s cost me close to 1200 pounds and I don’t have a subwoofer yet. It’s good and no complaints.
My Cars B&O system is far superior to the denon though. B&O 600W mind blowing
The plus points are, no wires so distance in a room is excellent. The bass without subwoofer is acceptable, compared to others? Honestly there is no comparison.
You have to hear differences. You will notice after 15 seconds & think is this a joke ?
Denon good job but you need to try harder mate
Home 150/250 series are, much much better sound quality than Bose, Bang Oluffsenn, Yamaha, JBL speakers ( around same size ones) Think about only Marshall or Klipsch speakers But these ones are heavy and bulky than Denon Home 150.
Heos App is not stable all times. But it works generally without problem. You can integrate Spotify, Tidal, Tunein in Heos App.
Airplay also works good.
We don’t rate the HEOS app it’s far too messy but we play it through Spotify or just Bluetooth it’s a great sound in our humble opinio
Overall is a good speaker the only issue i had was the dialog synch. That is why I returned the item.
I have the previous generation HEOS speakers and this was easily added to the app. The sound quality is improved and the quick touch buttons are a welcome addition. I have not used the Alexa features yet.
Bought one, within an hour of plugging it in i bought a second. Build and sound quality exceptional. I was very dubious as to whether having two would give me propper stereo, afterall how could it when each is self contained and no central amp or avc. Switched them both on and as if by magic two separate speakers start operating as stereo speakers with clear separation. Not cheap but I’d recommend getting two, the quality increases beyond x2, if you get my meaning.
The sound quality is perfect on this for what we need. The bass is not overpowering like on some other Bluetooth speakers I’ve heard. A well balanced sound all round.
The motion controlled light up buttons are a cool feature to show friends, but really you don’t need them with voice control.
This is a great sounding speaker, watched a couple of reviews on YouTube that suggest turning bass down by about four, which I did and greatly improved the sound to my ears,as straight out of the box it’s a bit bass heavy. The only gripe I had was I needed to update firmware, which is not covered in the quick start guide, but only when you download the complete manual from a QR code its on about page 59. So took me a while to set up. But that said it’s a well made heavy piece of kit that gives great sound, interacts well with Alexa no issues
Dissapointed at first then turned it up to half volume and wow sounds great with convincing surround sound would highly recommend as long as you can play fairly loud
No problem with dialogue at any volume
I was in two minds between the Denon 550 and the Sonos Beam 2, in the end I went for the Denon. I am not disappointed in the least the Alexa upgrade software worked like a dream and the extra HDMI socket was particularly useful, other wise I would have had to purchase an HDMI switch. Love the sound and it has all integrated well with my other systems.
The denon setup is the easiest I have ever used. Down load the app and set your speakers up individually by pressing a few buttons. Unlike other companies like sonos who you have to keep pressing the buttons and not always log on, then stop supporting the speakers you have purchase. Denon look nicer, easier to set up and sound better. On top of this you can play them using Bluetooth
I read a number of reviews on this and as already a Sonos user I was tempted by the Play:5 but couldn’t justify the price. This was a happy compromise. The sound quality is great, better as an individual speaker than my Play:1’s as stereo in one unit. Its not the prettiest device but combined with a stand provides great sound. Whether I would buy another or 2x Sonos Play:1’s to run in stereo I’m undecided on (which would be cheaper depending on price point at the time. But if you only want a single device this is hard to beat.
5/5 for sound quality, amazing bass response sound much bigger than expected considering the small size, I think the app is actually very easy to use
Setup in minutes and working with our Alexa products after enabling the HEOS home entertainment skill even easier by voice
Looks really stylish and blends into the room nicely highly recommend hats off to denon
Soundbar looks amazing defo on the wish lis
Really please with the Denon Home 150. It’s very well balanced between the hi’s and low’s with the right amount of bass without being over powering (of course, these settings can be changed anyway to suit your needs). It looks great and is very well made. Doesn’t yet have Alexa enabled but believe this to be very soon with the new update so then it’ll work as a full voice enabled speaker. More expensive then the Sonos equivalent but I think its worth it. I’ll be buying more!
I own several Denon products and love them all due to their quality and sound production – the Denon Home 250 is no exception.
Sound quality, range, volume are all wonderful!!!
My one gripe with this product however is the awful HEOS app. Why Denon have put their name to it is an absolute mystery.
I use the Bluetooth function to use my streaming services therefore bypassing the app.
Great product, poor app.
Great sound! especially the bass. I’ve had the Home 250 for a few days, using it in the home office. Mostly I play jazz/soul/RnB while working and it has a beautiful clean sound which doesn’t get grating after extended listening. Was conflicted between the 250 and 350 but the unit size is quite substantial so feel that 250 was the right choice. The HEOS app is sometimes a bit slow but that’s a very minor quibble.
Edit after Alexa compatibility upgrade: Great improvement – now that it can be fully integrated with Alexa voice control. Good just went through better to best!
The use of HEOS app on android phone to set up the Denon 150 was easy and convenient. Linkage to my Marantz NA6006 network player was likewise simple and now when I switch on the Denon it automatically plays in the kitchen whatever my Marantz is playing in the lounge. Other connectability includes Bluetooth and USB stick so very versatile. I don’t use voice commands so I can’t comment about how well it does that. The sound is detailed and of good volume but a bit bass rich for my tastes. However the sound should improve with use.
I purchased this to replace my Sonos Play 1, purely because I’m gradually replacing my complete sound system – there is nothing wrong with the Sonos!
Firstly, the sound quality from the Denon blows any other multi room system I’ve heard out of the water, the bass is perfect, the treble is crisp and the range of music is beyond compare.
Secondly, the setup is so easy, all you do is download the app onto your phone, connect the speaker to your wireless network and away you go – it picks up any music source on the network and you have the option of TuneIn radio, Spotify, Amazon Music and others.
The only downside I’ve found is that I don’t like the app, I much prefer the Sonos app but the quality of the sound out of the Denon more than makes up for the clunky app.
I bought it because of the rave reviews regarding sound quality. I was disappointed finding it little better than my echo dot. However, it looks great and once you get used to managing the different linking systems (bluetooth, HEOS, apple play etc.) it’s easy to use and move about the house (if you need to).
The sound quality is fantastic and the app features a placement tool to optimise the bass, based on whether the speaker is positioned next to one or two walls. The EQ is reasonable (bass and treble) and connectivity via the HEOS app, Bluetooth or airplay is all faultless.
Better than the Sonos, not so sure, but the sound quality is at least on par and the bass is probably a bit beefier – depending on placement. I’d have to say I preferred the Sonos app, but the upcoming firmware upgrade that will enable the microphones to be used as an Alexa device might just sway it.
So I tried the Denon Home 150, and I was comparing this to a Sonos Play:3 which is theoretically a model above….
The Denon Home 150 made the Play:3 sound like it was a cheap Bluetooth speaker, the depth and clarity it had was amazing! Even my partner who has no interest could tell me the Sonos, well I put it this way, wasn’t as good.
I’ve been waiting for so long for a high end smart speaker with oomph with an all important AUX outlet. It’s main popular rival of similar colour, is a great speaker, but no way of connecting a mixer without buying yet more expensive equipment to bridge them together. Enter the Denon home 150 with the aux!
If you have turntables (I.E Technics 1210s) boxed up for years. But only wanted to get them out into the living room in a subtle concealed unit, the only thing stopping me was I didn’t just want any speakers as usual connected I wanted a smart one and also which blended in with the decor. (room is grey and white, so this is perfect!). My mixer connected no problem with a 2x phono to 1x 3.5mm jack splitter cable, using the heos app you just choose aux as the output.
The sound on this is booming, even on a third of the volume is enough for my living room loud enough. Half setting it’s pumping, full setting you would have to shout at the other person and maybe upset the neighbours. Which leads me into being glad I got just the one, as it’s so powerful on it’s own. The treble and bass on the app are at a default zero zero. Adjusting the treble to max makes this perfectly clear, otherwise the treble is muffled.
Very happy with this denon home 150, personally I didn’t need a huge wall of rave sound blasting the place down like the old days, just a subtle nice quality looking unit for the living room, with superb sound, and then an assistant when not playing music on hand to deal with smart gadgets in the home amongst other things.
