Bought this to replace an old gas fire. I was originally dubious as I didnt want an electric fire but this looks stylish, and so far works well. The coal display is lovely to have on without the heat element, very cosy. the fire is also a bit larger than most so covered the original hole in the chimney breast where the gas fire had been vented. Plugs in and is easy to operate. One cautionary note. I bought mine when it was 250 reduced from 300. Checked today and its gone up to 307 !!! You can get the same model at 250 at places like Argos so shop around !!
The Dimplex Optiflame is perfect, fits flush against the wall with no rear protrusions, i just love the remote control function and the timer which can be set in 1/2 hr increments, I believe it was well worth the 250

Easy to install as it will fit flush to the fireplace after we have had the old gas fire removed. The flame effect is very nice and looks cosy on a night. Slightly disappointed that I received the brass and black after ordering the chrome effect one but as our old fire was brass it still works well so decided to keep it.
This deluxe model was cheaper than the standard one from Amazon. Lovely flame effect which is adjustable, remote control is easy to use. It’s very quiet, just a whooshing fan sound no rattling. Very happy with my purchase.
Next day sat in a different chair and the whole thing worked perfectly!
You need to know that the display is on the inside of the right panel and if you sit slightly to the right of the fire the message doesn’t get through to the controls! This needs to be mentioned in future INSTRUCTIONS.
One problem still to solve – no effect when trying to change the Top Light illuminating the fuel bed. It seems to be on all the time.
Our last Dimplex fire lasted us 35years and was made in England. This one is made in china and up to mow is perfect. I would definitely recommend.
