I’ve bought this as a beginner and I’m very pleased with the purchase its easy to fly unfortunately it lacks some of the features of the more expensive drones like hazard avoidance & follow me what I would recommend is going for the fly more package its a little more but wish I had done so as the batteries alone are 50 each enjoy

I had a Mini 2 for a year and a half but it crashed beyond repair, so I bought this one despite the Mini 3 having been released. The Mini 2 has a much better value for money than the Mini 3 because they have pretty much no difference when it comes to features, battery life, video quality, etc. but the Mini 2 is about half the price of the Mini 3

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was trying to purchase this product from more than 6 months. But finally I purchased and I was so excited to receive the product.
When I unboxed the product I felt this product is some thing different from other drones as by looks everyone can analyze that this is a machine filled with advanced feature.
I think Mini 2 is one of the most successful model of Dji drones and it deserves that.
When I glued it for first time I felt that I am really on the sky seeing the world from 75 M height and truly it didn’t dispappointed me.
This is a amazing machine, if anyone is planning to purchase just go for it with no doubt.

A flying beast with Advanced Tech capability.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis little drone is the tops for video photography with its gambrel camera. It has a good range and can be used without licence as long as you don’t add any extra weight to it. To be safe I would still get a licence. Its fast easy to carry about as it folds away very small. Lots of features in the software it uses but no anti-collision, so you need to be careful flying it.

I was using the wrong software, so I was not able to fly them before. Since I downloaded the right software (Dji fly) it has been doing very well. Excellent device, very stable image. I will recommend this to anyone. I wish the battery life could have been a bit more though.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersThis DJI Mini 2 is the best beginner drone you can get for the price, compared to other DJI drones this is much cheaper but it is still very good. The drone can go very far, I have gone up to 600 meters before it loses connection, if it does lose connection it will automatically return to the start location so it is hard to loose it. The drone also has a sport mode which is quick, it can get around very fast and its a lot of fun! The quality of the videos are up to 4K and they look clear, but you have to have a high capacity SD card to store the 4k videos, it does not come with a sd card. It folds up and you can fit the drone and controller in a small bag easily, the controller has a grippy texture and its good to hold, you connect your phone using the included cables which gives it a stronger connection, the controller can also charger your phone which is handy. It takes me around 1 hour to charge the drone and 1 hour to charge the controller which is a fast charge time for the drone, also you can get extra battery’s and swap them. The drone lasts around 20-30 minuets from full depending on the speed you are flying at. If the drone detects you have flown it too far with not enough battery to return it will automatically come back. You will need to get a licence to fly it though since the rules have changed, this is something you can do online.

    Very good beginner drone

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy first drone and I love it to bits. Still getting used to the controls and educating myself to look at screen (on iPhone) and not the drone itself. I met a fellow dronester and he has been a great help getting me off the ground. I am 56 and feel like a 15 year old again. Only real gripes are lack of blade strap and price of new batteries but other than that, fantastic. It’s small but fast and if I can operate it, anyone can!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe build quality of this product feels super premium! The drone is stable, and camera is fantastic, so impressed with the gimble stabilization, camera stays perfectly stabilised when tilting and flying around for smooth videos.

I see a review from someone called Dave about having to pay 45 for “DJI Care Refresh package” before being able to fly, this is not true. There is a skip button on the top right of that window to continue on and fly the drone.

Care refresh package dose sound good but I’m going to skip it as I’d rather use the drone extremely carefully and save myself the money as to get a refreshed drone is another 45 excess so basically 90 for a new drone.

Can’t fault the product at all. the only thing that was a bit annoying is all the DJI apps don’t open on Android after first install… you have to go find a You tube guide on how to fix them. Basically you have to download an APK file from DJI website to fix each app that doesn’t open, once I passed this barrier I was up up and away, taking the drone to Majorca next week for some real picture tests, I’ll upload some images I take when I get back.

There isant much to dislike about this drone, I love it.

The only thing it probably needs is more lights because it can get lost up there.

Its easy to set up, although I haven’t used all of its features yet from what I have used so far, its brilliant.

If you don’t want to purchase the combi you can get batteries from 50 and buy a camera case bigger enough and use that instead and save some money.

i love this. i have a mavic 1 and decided i needed a change. Still no obstacle avoidance, but it really isnt a problem providing care is taken. superb video capability, and connection between controller and drone is far better. would definitely recommend, but for a beginner, maybe get some practice on a cheap one first.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLet’s start with the make of the drone DJI, they are the premium brand when talking about drones. I had my first drone in 2014 which was a DJi Phantom F40. This mini 2 has absolutely blown me away with its features. It’s a powerful and capable little drone with an excellent 3 way humble, ensuring your video is rock solid stable. The drone has lots of safely features like return to home if it loses single (or you panic your gonna lose it) It doesn’t however have obstacle avoidance so be careful and fly safely. It is a perfect drone for the beginner who wants a little more than a 100 toy. On that note, it’s not cheap at 420 but worth every penny in my opinion. I would advise you take out the care refresh package (you don’t need to) if recommended in case you crash, you can get the drone repaired or replaced for a very small cost. Also, think about third party insurance (your choice not required). Overall the drone is fantastic and great fun, plus the video footage is like a professional has recorded it. Spend the extra money is my advice don’t buy cheap. The mini 2 SE is a great buy to, however it lacks 4K recording and the camera zoom, having said that it’s cheaper.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is my first drone and it’s amazing. I had to gain clearance to fly in my area since I’m near a runway but it was simple enough. The one issue I had, that seemed major at first and I had to fix myself, was that the two rubber pieces which lock in the gimbal were reversed on mine for some reason. I didn’t realize this, and during my first flight the camera popped out and was hanging and on my phone the footage looked the drone had crashed or something. Once the camera stabilized I tried to gain control but the drone was flying out of control in circles. This obviously was pretty scary as I figured it was going to crash in someone else’s lawn or in the busy road. Upon inspection I realized that the two rubber pieces which are supposed to be in the slots, were facing the opposite directions. I used tweezers and reversed them and was able to put them in properly. My concern is that if this happened to someone who isn’t really tech savvy, theyay think their device is broken, or continue flying with the faulty setup and potentially crashing.
Besides that, this thing is amazing. The range and altitude is awesome and it is easy to control. Highly recommend.

The winter storms have restricted flying, so far, but it seems this a very versatile bit of kit. Novice flyer but had no problem getting to grips with the basics, and looking forward to some calm weather to really get to know it.

Bought this drone for my 25 year old son because he was travelling around Spain. He loves it. Easy to use and fantastic quality. Battery only last about half hour but will buy some more as it takes a while to charge. If you can afford it buy it, you won’t be disappointed

This is by no means an impulse purchase, however it does everything much much better than the cheaper drones. Easy to fly, software is great and build quality is top notch.

If you can, stretch to the fly-more bundle, however even in the drone only form, you won’t be disappointed.

It’s a great drone and easy to set up and fly straight out of the box, this is my third drone and I wish I hadn’t bothered with the first two. This is a great beginner to intermediate drone and you could easily use it as your first drone with no prior experience. I can not fault this drone I can see why DJI are the go to brand for drones.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe product was supplied by an Amazon seller. It was delivered on time, in perfect condition.

The software and hardware is first class. When you power up the drone it rises to about four foot and stays completely still until you tell it what to do.

It does everything well, it moves swiftly in any direction. When zooming back to you it needs say ten feet to stop. Wherever the drone is, if you take your hands off the joystick it will just sit there, stationary, awaiting your command, if no command it will wait until the batteries are sufficient to get it home and it will do that automatically.

The software is excellent, the instruction manual is 51 pages long! I take video in 4k, a two minute video can be 4Gigabytes! I have bought a 4 terrabite hard drive (about 80) and two 128gb chips (18 each) for in drone storage.

I bought the basic model, drone+controller+ 1 battery, I should have bought the full combo kit, you need 3 batteries and the 3 battery charger and the bag etc. the batteries take hours to charge!

In addition I bought the insurance from DJI, I have also bought the lanyard kit (makes the controller/phone hands free) and the brilliant Firehouse strobe light (doubles the seeing distance in daylight) etc.etc.

The drone is actually reasonably robust, but in untrained hands it could smash into a tree. It cannot be flown in high winds (over 15 mph) or in rain. Just take your time at first.

You will need to pay 9 per annum for registration as a drone operator, not as a pilot. Just another tax! You don’t need to pass a test.

I am 76 and love flying it, it is the nearest thing you can get to actual flying.

I would not look at any other drone. Checkout their instruction manual first!!

I upgraded to this once I had gotten used to flying them around. Amazing drone, doesn’t have the features you get on more expensive drones (anti collision etc) but for the money you can’t go wrong. The picture is genuinely 4k UHD unlike a lot of other advertised drones. Excellent buy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHad my maiden flight this morning, having watched loads of videos on You Tube. Was a bit nervous but after a couple of minutes, realised I had nothing to worry about. It handles extremely well and is very, very easy to manoeuvre. I was worried, of course, that I might crash or lose control but there was little chance of that happening, given how easy the controls are and how quickly it responds to commands.
I think it’s extremely good value given what it can do.
As a piece of constructive criticism, the DJI Fly App was a bit of a pain to install. It can only be used on certain phones and unfortunately it doesn’t work on my Moto g7. Took me a while to figure that out. Luckily i had an old phone which works fine. The other slightly disappointing discovery was that there is no sound, but given the noise of the blades when it’s flying, I can well understand why sound wouldn’t work well.
All in all, I’m chuffed to bits with it!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOK so I confess I have taken a leave of absence from DJI since I got my DJI Spark in 2017, and have been focussing on scratch-built FPV quads since then. There is a huge technology convergence between AP and FPV drones these days in terms of range and video capture quality. I’ve been watching the various DJI offerings since the Spark and none took my interest until I saw the Mini2. With a 3 axis gimbal the images match what I used to get on my Phantom 3, but coming in at under 250g it is much less intrusive to fly. I bought it to take on Holiday in Cornwall and I have been able to sling it in my backpack, and pull it out when I reach a nice spot on a coastal path, where I want to use the drone to get a different perspective on the landscape. I mean it is nowhere near as fun as cliff diving with one of my FPV quads but the total purchase price came to less than the cost of my last FPV build, and by the time I load my goggles, FPV quad, RC and a few batteries, my backpack is completely full!

Downsides? well it is discrete in size, but the price of small props is more high pitched nose, making it louder than my 5 inch quad. The camera field of view is not as wide as I would like, but that’s not a dealbreaker when you see the gimbal stabilised video. I also find it hard to turn the quad off without pushing the gimbal into knocking as it goes into too high an angle. What I do now is lift the quad over my head so I can see the button, and do the double tap from underneath, to protect the gimbal motors. I wish the power button was on the top of the quad.

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersLets start with the weight because this is the important bit. In the UK, drones less than 250g can be flown in recreational areas, residential areas, industrial areas and close and over people not involved in your flight. You still need to respect people’s privacy and fly safely but so much less restricted than >250g drones. You do need to get an operator ID which costs 9 a year. You don’t need a flyers ID but it is a free online exam which isn’t rocket science just to ensure you fly safely.

Size. It is slightly too big to just put in your pocket but will fit in a jacket pocket or cargo-pants which means you can literally take it with you without the need of a cumbersome bag. It should be noted that under UK law, you have to keep it in line of sight. As soon as you get any great distance, bexause of it’s size, it can be a real bugger to keep your eye on it. Just glancing at the phone on the controller and looking back up, might take a moment to get visual eyes on again.

Battery. You get about 23minutes flight time. Occasionally, I think I should have gone for the fly more combo set with the extra batteries but my wife knows that if I’m popping out to do some recording, I generally won’t be long. I can imagine that if you have travelled to some remote location for filming, you will want the extra batteries, especially if you are going to make a day of it. That said, a third party charger that will charge more than one battery at a time may be better than the DJI which charges sequentially.

Photo and video quality. Being able to shoot raw is awesome and the film quality is very good. I’ve yet to purchase any ND filters so the 180degree rule is pretty much out of the window in bright conditions.

Take off and landing. This really needs a nice flat surface but as long as you don’t face into the wind, you can take off and land by hand. Take off from grass or sand is generally a no no but you can take off and land on a book or magazine until you get the confidence to do it by hand.

Sound. It does not record sound but then, it sounds like a swarm of hornets when close. As soon as you get some height, you can no longer hear it.

Wind tolerance. This handles wind really quite well. When it encounters wind that pushes it’s tolerance, it will warn you. I’ve not done anything stupid with it but at 14mph winds, it’s quite steady .

Controls. Whilst you can tweak the settings for exactly what you are trying to achieve, even on cine mode, it really is quite sensitive, requiring only the slightest movement on the controller. There is a “normal” mode and a sports mode that I have not even tried yet. Whilst it has a downward crash avoidance system, in sport mode, the stopping distance will be further than the system can accommodate so you could theoretically slam it into the ground if you’re not careful.

Overall, I’m very impressed with this drone. There is a return to home feature and it will try to return to home if the batteries are running low. That said, I noticed on the drone lost and found site that these drones do get reported missing which means that this feature is not infallible. I think that as long as you are sensible, this drone will pose you no issues. If you take it out in a hurricane or fly it out of your visual line of sight, you may run into problems. I also not that the US drone authority are actively monitoring Youtube for drone footage that breaks their rules and I do not know if the UK aviation authority are doing the same. It’s just easier to follow the rules.

    Small but awesome

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt’s good for a beginner, with a very nice camera, and flying is so smooth. It says it can fly to 5km away but when I took it around 1km it started to disconnect, even sometimes less than that. Also for such an expensive drone, it’s very fragile. I had other drones quite cheaper than this and they took some accidents but this one rip apart in the very first one.
But hats off to Amazon customer service with no issue they accepted the broken drone back and with no issue I got a refund. Hard to think if any other company provide such good customer service.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our Userso be able to shoot 4k 30 frame per second with this tiny drone is out of this world
you can also go up to 60 frame per second if you choose to shoot with 2.8k camera which is mind blowing picture quality
if your starting with drone this is the best drone to start with, easy to use straight forward setting and amazing performance
it offer a variety of pre set shots that will make you feel in a hight budget movie or something
it handle the wind, rain and freezing cold weather very well , i used it under rain, snow and wind without a problem

the only set back i see is it sometime if your flying over a residential area the wifi signals impact the drone signal and it might have a bit of difficulty to connect to your control and it will initiate the go home journey buy itself

the other setback is , might be because i chooses to save some money and didn’t pay for the combo package
the thing is that the battery drain completely after 20 min or so , and it makes you feel under tremendous stress if your flaying after 20 min of usage as it keep giving you warnings , its not a bad thing if you got what i mean but i wished the batteries get a bit cheeper since to buy an extra battery it would cost you 50 GBP!

You cannot go wrong with MavicMini 2 except for extra batteries cos

Once you get the hang of handling this drone it is amazing. The drone is under 249g therefore does not require a licence. The video and picture quality is fantastic and the drone flies smoothly with an excellent long distance range from 4 kilometres. Easy to carry out, and with full charge can fly around 30 minutes.
