This product records quite well and meets my needs for streammy ps5 would recommend for those that like too record game play with high quality output of video
Perfect works great Cristal clear picture zero lag.Nice easy setup just download drivers from elgato and your good to go.
Does what is says on the tin! Nice update to the original hd60+
Anyway primary used this with a rad 2x on the sega saturn and it records sega tally for hours. Takes up minimal space u like the old hauppaugge dealy i had, powered off of the usb cable so just the hdmi in and hdmi out. Its pretty neat.
Thats all i have to say about it really
easy to record and capture game play just make sure you also have the audio cable attached as otherwise it wont capture any sound
I use this item almost daily for gaming and casual streaming. Although the condition was acceptable when I purchased this for just under 100, it still continues to work really well, even on my Mid-2015 MacBook Pro. Excellent value for money, and better than expected quality product.
I wanted to start recording footage from gameplay and edit them for YouTube and this is perfect. Easy to install, easy to use, and easy to export and edit. It was so good that I bought two. Now my son has one and he streams and records every single game he plays. I gave it five stars as it does exactly what it says on the box.
Does exactly what its intended to do, don’t be tempted but cheap imitations, this works as it should when it should with no drama.
Audio captured is clear on streaming software and the party chat is captured a treat.
Headsets can also work at the same time, making this the best option!
Aside from that main issue for me, it is generally plug and play and makes recording live from camera easy.
It’s very easy to install but let’s just get one thing straight right now!
Elgato have a strange and annoying habit of only using premium high speed HDMI cables! So this means that when I installed it all I got was a flickering green screen and I couldn’t get my game on the screen at all.
I was devastated and thought that my 4K capture card was broken but as I said before it needed the magical premium high speed cable to work.
I connected the cable and was finally getting a clear picture but was still unable to get 2160p.
This is another thing you need to know about Elgato, their 4K capture utility can’t do 4K!
But with the cable all I did was leave it on 1080p on the 4k capture utility and then switched on my OBS and turned that onto 2160p.
This fixed the issues and finally was able to start recording in glorious 4k!
Though do be aware that you can’t record in HDR either.
These issues aside the videos that are recorded with this card are stunning and you certainly will be rewarded for all your hard efforts if you ran into the same issues as me.
With this card I finally had the quality videos that I wanted for my YouTube channel and if you’re looking to do the same then I would highly recommend this card
Lets you take sound from the controller of your Dualshock 4 controller to be fed to your capture card while still being able to plug in your headphones. The isolator switch does a great job of getting rid of that awful hum the original had if the pad was on charge while in use.
Very good product, does exactly what it’s meant to do. However, I would like to emphasize the importance of USB 3.0 as the machine simply won’t work on USB 2.0 – I tried a few things on my old machine with no success. Ended up buying a new PC to use the HD60x (you can also look into buying a USB 3.0 PCie thing to install on your motherboard); also be aware that you might have 1 second delay or so between video image and sound, at least streaming PC games. Happy streaming!
I use this to record videos on my Xbox. This device enables me to record my own audio along with my friends in the party’s audio and the game. To be clear; I use a capture card to capture gameplay/audio BUT without this I can’t record my own voice aswell as everything else. I use it for my Xbox Series S but I know it works for Series X and Xbox One. I cannot comment on PlayStation I’m afraid.
and really helped push the quality of our videos on YouTube and has zero issues and was setup and ready to go in minutes. Upgraded after using the elgato HD and its night and day
I’ve actually been using this to get an HDMI signal into my imac to play games. It’s close to real time, which is very impressive. I can just about play a game on it. the latency is barely noticable.
However the system is prone to dropping the odd frame with no particular reason. When this occurs during speech this become very noticeable and if you are picky on quality (like me) means a full new recording . That’s ok but at real time recording only means up to two hours of rework. I am using the Elgato HD60 S+ to copy out recordings and free up space on a UK Tivo hard drive but still wanted to preserve the recording etc.
Im so glad that I bought it. Its amazing and very easy to set up. I would highly recommend if you are a gamer and trying to create content this is perfect!
Son is made up with this.
Does what he needs without fuss. I think he’s using a different OS for it. But it does come with its own.
Great for veteran streamers & budding start ups even if you think it is a bit pricy. You shouldn’t be disappointed if you buy this produc
Build
Build quality is good. It’s well made and looks cool. My only problems are theres no indication of whether its actually turned on, it would be nice if it had a little light on it or something to indicate its getting power. Also it’s only HDMI, considering most high end GPU’s nowadays use mainly display port, it’s a bit of a pain to use up the only 1 hdmi slot on my gpu. It would be cool if you could sell official displayport adapters for it so those of us on pc can have life a little easier, I wouldnt even mind paying extra.
Picture quality
Its good overall. Great for recording videos on games and whatever else you do.
Set up
Now this is the downfall of this product. Plugging it in and securing it is easy. But using it in elgato software is horrible. I recommend you install the elgato software, let it install the drivers and everything and then download streamlabs or OBS because it’s far easier to use.
Value for money
If you are a streamer or content creator then I’m sure youll get your use out of this and it will be well worth it. I think to make it fully worth the price elagto needs to do an update on the 4k capture utility.
Overall, a pretty solid product. Good for recording ps5 and PC vids.
Yes, there are technically better cards that can capture 10 Bit and 4:2:2 chroma subsampling but those cards cost a lot more money and given that many capture sources and destinations such as YouTube and streaming platforms are only 8 Bit 4:2:0 anyway. There’s a good argument that capturing 8 bit 4:2:0 is all that’s needed.
There are other similar cards on the market but one thing I can say about the 4K60 Pro is that it is solid and dependable and I’ve never had any capture issues or crashes with them, I’ve had three.
Lastly. Even if you only need 1080 capture I’d strongly recommend the 4K60 as it’s not massively more expensive than a 1080 card anyway and you’ll be future proofed for when you do go 4K.
Cheers,
David Harry.
Excellent picture compared to cheap knock offs also available on Amazon (I had to return one that costed about 50, as the picture was dreadful). CPU usage is about 50% of one of the CPU cores at 1080p50, which is acceptable. However, I could not get it to work in the following configuration to pass through 3K (1440p) signal: Mac -> Thunderbolt 3 cable -> eGPU -> HDMI cable -> HD 60 S+ -> HDMI cable -> 3K (1440p) monitor. It doesn’t seem to be able to pass through a 3K (1440p) signal, the HD60 S+ shows up as a 1080p monitor in MacOS, and it cannot be changed to 1440p resolution. Hence, I’m taking one star off. That’s my mistake assuming it can pas through 3K while only 4K is actually stated on the box. If you have a 1440p monitor, keep this in mind. Still keeping the device for 1080p capture from DSLR.
Premium Screen Capture, lives upto the hype, able to capture upto 4K 60FPS, good software , great for PS5 / XBOX Series X / DSLR , 0 latency , nice feature of 3.5 in to sync microphone, works perfectly with a 4K HDMI auto switch
Elgato 4k60 pro mk2 was as expected from Elgato and premium product, the only reason not 5 stars was the set. Spent many MANY hours trying to figure out why screen were blank etc, then biting the built spoke to Elgato customer service which I must say where FANTASTIC and should have spoken to them first 5 stars for the american guy i spok too. But yo.put it simply if anyone has issues speak to them. My issue was resolved by simply not using HDMI from the Elgato card but quite simply running high capacity HDMI from graphics card to Elgato card (which is in the instructions) but then using both monitors via display port from the graphics card (not in the instructions) then it’s a case of simply duplicating displays in Nvidia settings and away you go, streaming is perfect which is what it was meant for eventually it will be a 2 pc set up but perfect for now.
bought to stream my series x to twitch.
4k pass through runs perfectly and 1080/720 60fps streaming’s also.
abit fiddely to set up and you need to make sure your pc/laptop can handle it.
my 2017 MBP just does.
only thin I didnt know before hand is you will need either an external mic or the chat link cable to record your voice.
I bought this some considerable time ago and once I ironed out all the kinks, the device is probably better than it’s more expensive USB brother device in the 4K60 S+.
The reasons for that are that this device is a hardware upgrade from the HD60 S which has been about for some time. The software while isn’t the greatest, yes I’m looking at you 4K Capture Utility, is functional and works well with the HD60 S+, however it fails with it more expensive sibling in the 4K60 S+, that’s another story however.
I would not recommend using this device with Elgato 4K Capture Utility version 1.7.3, and stick to the older version of 1.7.2 due to encoding and playback issues of files. It also brings in issues with HDR output via tone mapping to allow HDR in things like xSplit!
The image you see on your output monitor is exactly the same as what the console/device is outputting, there is literally zero input lag and gaming is perfect. The colour and replication is great, and HDR passthrough is exceptional!
Highly recommend this device!
Easy to cable together but may have issues getting the picture through from PC as you’ve got to fiddle with the resolution.
Would highly recommend for keen PC content creators and console users
This product really does manage to capture your gameplay in a smooth 1080p 60FPS.
If you do require party chat to be recorded, you will need some external cables to record analogue sound which are sold separately. I also have an external Mic plugged into my PC to record my own voice via Live commentary as the Elgato will not simply pick up your voice from your xbox headset/mic.
I noticed a lot of individuals are having difficulty in having your computer recognise the Elgato capture card. I spent two hours trying to find a driver for my PC and went back and forth trying to fix this.
I solved this issue by changing the USB cable provided in the box to my own personal one and my PC recognised the device immediately. Please use a different usb cable if you are having issues with recognising this device as i feel the USB cable they provided was dodgy.
Overall, once the issues have been resolved this is a solid device. Highly Recommend.
Lets start with the big Elgato shaped elephant in the room; the software is the usual unreliable Elgato-quality tat.
Sadly you’re stuck with it if you want to record HDR files.
-1 star, if Avermedia can sort themselves out Corsair/Elgato have no excuse.
Thankfully you can ignore the software, switch on HDR tone mapping & use something else; that’s when the hardware shines.
A good card for “future proofing” your content creation. Just don’t burn money on the machine you put it in because those requirements are way overboard.
This is 1 of the most powerful capture cards on the planet! 4k 60fps and works great with other consoles with hdmi ! Even the hdmi converters work great with it! My laptop is an i core 3 dual core with 4gb ram and it works great with no loss in overall cpu speed when set to hardware acceleration option in obs streamlabs! Highly recommended!
It came with two cables: one that goes to your gaming console, and another one that’s USB to USB C for your computer. You would still need to use the HDMI that goes to your screen or projector.
Since I use a MacBook Pro, also bought a USB C to USB C cable so that I don’t have to use the adapter/dongle. Even if I don’t have a dedicated graphics card, I still manage to stream and record my Nintendo Switch games. I do have a quad core processor and 8 GB of RAM.
Pretty easy to use with the Elgato software, as well as with OBS or Streamlabs OBS.
Works great for recording WII U and Switch gameplay. And never crashed yet, while recording.
Haven’t used it for streaming, so don’t know if Elgato HD60 S+ ever crashes when using it for streaming.
They say external cards are bit more prone to that.
Works as intended and cheaper than in Argos too!
Was a doddle to set up with the help of a few YouTube videos as I am capturing from a PS4 which requires a few extra tick boxes to be enabled.
Quality piece of kit. HD/4K streams and recording for console games!
Pretty easy to set up, you just need to mess around with the settings on your recording software
I use this for my streams and videos on YouTube, it’s so good, there’s next to no delay when I look on the pc screen, when I rewatch the videos the quality is so good, it’s a really small and great capture card, it doesn’t even get hot like my last one by another company, this capture card is great and the cables it comes with are really high quality as well, I would definitely recommend this produc
What can I say? It works perfectly, no dropped frames, excellent picture quality and really easy to install. Just plug and go! Using on a 2012 pimped up Mac Pro running Mojave
I’ve been looking for an Elgato Camlink 4k for a while but as these seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth(!) I decided to give the Elgato HD60 S+ a try, and I was not disappointed at all!
I have yet to use the 4k passthrough capabilities of this card (that’s the #1 feature of it) but as a capture card it works great with my camera and I couldn’t be happier!
So in review, how am I finding using an EXTREMELY expensive (500+) webcam? For me it’s ideal. Thanks to the pandemic regular 85 quality webcams are either out of stock or double their RRP. Despite this being an expensive route to a webcam, I already had a Sony a5100 a dummy battery and a HDMI lead. I just wasn’t using these as often as I once did. The Elgato HD60s+ was just the final piece in a very expensive puzzle to get a webcam without being extorted (pricespy indicated it was at regular price apart from occasional reductions of 10). Obviously there is no webcam on the market that can surpass the image quality of a large DSLR sensor and the low light recording is much better too. Further to this, the bokeh effect from a 20mm lens at f2.0 is a look no webcam could replicate, although I’m sure the kit lens still looks good too. For just web conferencing, this is pure overkill, but this would be a regular setup for a blogger or game streamer. For me, I felt more comfortable paying 189.99 for this setup than 179.99 for a 85rrp webcam. However, I had the remaining kit to make it operational
I just know what other gamers have recommended and see the quality they have in their videos.. KSI on youtube uses it so you can check the quality of his videos.. i havent started using mine so there is my honest review of it.
Thie HD60 S+improves upon a number of areas:
* UVC Support – USB video support means that no software/drivers are necessary. When it’s connected, your computer will treat it the same way it would a webcam
* 4K 30FPS Recording – Most gamers will still record and stream at 1080p, but the addition of 4K at 30FPS is a welcome one.
* 4K 60 FPS – You can now play games at 4K 60 FPS on your television and record at 1080p 60 FPS
* HDR 10 – HDR 10 is supported when recording at 1080p
If you’re looking to buy a new game recording device, this should be at the top of your list (unless your budget is significantly higher and can afford to buy more professional gear from companies such as Magewell).
For PC build space consideration: this card’s dimensions are roughly early iphone sized(in credit cards? 1×1 and a 3rd, with a depth of 10mm(yeah I know, I don’t have enough credit cards for depth lol), minus PCI-E connector and rear PCI-IO plate. In other words, it’s pretty small.
The build quality reflects it’s price, and at no point would I say the have cut costs. Aesthetically resembles the offspring of 2 SLI’d GPUs (when Mummy & Daddy GPU really love each other…..). It’s looks even extend to it’s stylish black PCB.
Let’s face it these are a currently a default purchase for any streamer/Youtuber, who wants to capture lossless footage: and that would be Elgato’s target market. Well, its for any streamer that wants to do a little more than ASMR streams(ladies, fear not. It will do those too. Well, the “quality” camera side of your “content” at least).
Are there higher-end capture cards? Sure, but A, what site can handle more than 4K @60fps bandwidth, and B, who’s PC hardware can currently exceed that by more than a few dozen fps? C, if your hardware can support more then you are a pro, with an exceedingly specific purpose in mind and a high-end card would be better for you.
It’s software? It works-ish. But, I can’t think of a single scenario where you would use a very basic “cut-and-splice” video editing program, when so many vastly superior free or cheap solutions exist. As to streaming, it’s driver software(yep, still comes on a DVD, but can be DL’d from Elgato’s site) makes it available to all newer versions of OBS or Streamlabs.
I have hopefully answered some of the questions you may have, based on the the questions I had to research when I wanted to stream decent quality game footage, or connecting my Lumix FZ-2200 Bridge camera(FZ-2500 in the US) to OBS as a webcam.
My verdict? The Elgato 4K60 Pro is a great piece of kit, so is the AVermedia “Live Gamer” equivalent. They’re both PCI-E internal capture cards that will do the same job. The AVermedia has some RGB lighting(if you want to light your PSU shroud or slightly illuminate the bottom of your case for some reason), but for me, I much prefer the small sleek Elgato. I would highly recommend it. No, I’m not sponsored by Elgato, although…. if they’re listening….
